Nickelodeon Acquires Broadcast Rights To "ALVINNN!!! and The Chipmunks" For International Channels

The official website of the entertainment industry newspaper Variety, Variety.com, and the children's entertainment and media news website Kidscreen are reporting the exciting Nickelodeon International News in the following article that, in the run-up to MipTV, Nickelodeon, the number-one entertainment brand for kids and families, has picked up the rights to two seasons (104 x 11 min) of the brand-new CG-animated series "ALVINNN!!! and The Chipmunks" and will roll the show out on more than 70 of their international channels (excluding Nickelodeon USA and Nick Brazil) in early 2015!


Created by Janice Karman, the series is produced by Bagdasarian Productions and OuiDO! Productions.

The contemporary reboot of "Alvin and The Chipmunks" marks the return of the franchise to TV after 20 years and follows the adventures of Alvin, Theodore, Simon and the Chipettes. Each episode features an original song produced by Bagdasarian.

"The TV series offered Janice and me the creative freedom to create stories and explore The Chipmunks and Chipettes distinct personalities in ways that our movies don't allow," said Ross Bagdasarian. Nickelodeon UK Unveils The UK-Specific Nominations For The Nickelodeon 2014 Kids' Choice Awards!

The UK's "Nickelodeon 2014 Kids' Choice Awards" nominees are in!

Nickelodeon UK and Ireland have announced on Nick UK and Ireland's official "2014 Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards" website, kca.nick.co.uk, the UK-specific categories and nominees which will be part of Nick UK's version of the Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards 2014.


Beginning today, Monday 24th February 2014, NickHeads in the UK and Ireland able to vote in seven UK-exclusive "Nickelodeon 2014 Kids' Choice Awards" category's and pick and choose their favourites from 28 nominees from the worlds of sport and entertainment, including the newly introduced nominations for Favourite Football Star, Favourite Book, and Most Enthusiastic Athlete, Favourite Breakthrough, Favourite Vlogger (Video Blogger), and Favourite Fan Family, a brand-new category which honours a celebrity's fan following. Additionally, One Direction has been nominated for the Favourite UK Band.

London, 25th February 2014 – One Direction, Lewis Hamilton, Tom Daley and vlogger Tanya Burr are amongst those who have received nominations today for Nickelodeon's 27th annual Kids' Choice Awards. As of today kids can visit kca.nick.co.uk to place their vote across eight UK specific and 22 international categories and winners will be announced during a slime-filled event hosted by Hollywood heavyweight Mark Wahlberg on Sunday 30th March at 5:30pm.

This year promises to be bigger than ever, with the addition of four brand-new categories for the UK. For the first-time internet sensations Zoella, Tanya Burr, Charlie McDonnell and Marcus Butler will be battling it out for Favourite UK Vlogger. As well as having their say, UK kids themselves have the chance to be recognised as Directioners, Mahomies, Arianators and The Wanted fans will battle it out to win UK Favourite Fan Family.

Football players feature for the first time in the awards with Theo Walcott, Steven Gerrard, Gareth Bale and Wayne Rooney up for UK Favourite Football star. UK Favourite Sports Star returns in 2014 with Tom Daley defending his title against Nicola Adams, Laura Robson and F1 star Lewis Hamilton.

Musically, One Direction and The Wanted will again thrash it out again for UK Favourite Band but this year face competition from X-Factor alumni Union J and Little Mix. The final new category for this year is UK Favourite Breakthrough Act where either The Vamps, Neon Jungle, Little Nikki or Elyar Fox will be victorious as the newcomer who has made the biggest impact in 2013.

Fans can tune in from 5:00pm on Sunday 30th March to catch Diversity dance supremos Perri Kiely and Jordan Banjo getting all of the orange carpet gossip before the main event kicks off at 5:30pm.

In the 22 international categories, voted by children all over the globe, there are also newly introduced categories including Favourite Funny Star, Favourite Animated Animal Sidekick and Most Enthusiastic Athlete.

In television, Sam & Cat stars Jennette McCurdy and Ariana Grande, Bridgit Medler (Good Luck Charlie) and Debby Ryan (Jessie) will compete for Favourite TV Actress, with their respective shows Sam & Cat, Good Luck Charlie, Jessie, facing The Big Bang Theory for Favourite TV Show. First-time nominees Benjamin Flores, Jr. (The Haunted Hathaways) and Jack Griffo (The Thundermans) will face off against last year's KCA winner for Favourite TV Actor, Ross Lynch (Austin & Ally), and 2012 winner, Jake Short (A.N.T. Farm) for the coveted blimp.

Tributes, superheroes and Smurfs dominate the movie categories, with The Hunger Games franchise receiving four nominations for Favourite Movie, Favourite Book, and Jennifer Lawrence for Favourite Movie Actress and Favourite Female Buttkicker. Iron Man 3 isn't far behind with three nods for Favourite Movie and Robert Downey, Jr. for Favourite Movie Actor and Favourite Male Buttkicker. The Smurfs 2 also nabbed three nominations for Favourite Movie, Neil Patrick Harris for Favourite Movie Actor and Jayma Mays for Favourite Movie Actress.

Musical sensations One Direction and Katy Perry return as nominees in the same categories they took home blimps in last year. One Direction will face off against Maroon 5, One Republic and Macklemore & Ryan Lewis for Favourite Music Group, while Katy Perry takes on Lady Gaga, Selena Gomez and Taylor Swift for Favourite Female singer. Nickelodeon Unveils The Nominees For The 2014 Kids' Choice Awards

The entertainment industry news magazine The Hollywood Reporter is reporting the very exciting KCA 2014 news on their official website, thr.com, that Nickelodeon has announced the nominees for the 2014 Kids' Choice Awards, also known as the Nickelodeon's 27th Annual Kids' Choice Awards!


Beginning today, Monday 24th February 2014, kids are able to cast their votes in 22 categories, including the newly introduced nominations for Favorite Funny Star, Favorite Animated Animal Sidekick, and Most Enthusiastic Athlete, across all of Nickelodeon's digital outlets: Nick.com, all desktop and mobile devices, and on Nickelodeon's Twitter feed, where users can vote by using custom Kids' Choice Awards hashtags.

Among the nominations, the popular Nickelodeon original comedy series "Sam & Cat" will be battling it out with "The Big Bang Theory", "Good Luck Charlie" and "Jessie" to win the coveted orange blimp for Favorite TV Show. Plus, masters of martial arts "SpongeBob SquarePants" and "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" will battle it out in the Favorite Cartoon category, Nickelodeon Stars Benjamin Flores, Jr. ("The Haunted Hathaways") and Jack Griffo ("The Thundermans") will be going Head to Head in the Favorite TV Actor category, and Nick Stars and co-stars Ariana Grande and Jennette McCurdy ("Sam & Cat") will be battling to win "Favorite TV Actress". The British/Irish boyband "One Direction" has also been nominated for two Nickelodeon 2014 Kids' Choice Awards: for Favorite Song for their popular single "Story of My Life" and for Favorite Music Group.

"To be nominated for two awards at this year's Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards is just incredible!" said One Direction member Niall Horan in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter. "Thank you to Nickelodeon and to our amazing fans that always support us."

This years Kids' Choice Awards features a single sports category, as Nickelodeon will be holding a big new event called the "Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards Sports Edition" during Summer 2014.

Voting for the 2014 KCAs, opening soon, will span six continents across 17 localized voting sites, giving kids practically everywhere the chance to decide who takes home a coveted orange blimp.

This year's fan-voted event will be hosted by Mark Wahlberg, who stars in the Michael Bay's "Transformers: Age of Extinction", the fourth installment in the "Transformers" franchise. Nickelodeon's 27th Annual Kids' Choice Awards will take place Saturday 29th March 2014, from 8-9:30 p.m. ET/PT at the University of Southern California's Galen Center and will air live on Nick USA (tape delayed for the West Coast). The awards show will then start to roll out internationally, providing kids around the world the opportunity to tune into their local Nickelodeon channel to enjoy the show faster than ever, including on Nickelodeon UK and Ireland and Nickelodeon HD UK on Sunday 30th March 2014 at 5:30pm (repeated from 6:30pm on Nick UK's plus-one (+1) timeshift channel, Nick+1), less than 24 hours after the initial US broadcast!

Beginning Monday, Feb 24, kids will be able to cast their votes in 22 categories, including the newly introduced Favorite Funny Star, Favorite Animated Animal Sidekick, and Most Enthusiastic Athlete across all of Nickelodeon's digital outlets: Nick.com desktops and mobile devices, as well as the Nick app on iOS, Kindle, and Android. Users will be able to vote on Nickelodeon's Twitter feed using custom KCA hashtags. Nick.com/kca14 is the official destination for anything and everything Kids Choice Awards. Fans can join in on the slime-fest by watching hilarious short form videos, taking fun quizzes, browsing through photo galleries, engaging with weekly polls, and getting the latest KCA news on this year's show and nominees.

Kids have a hunger for The Hunger Games franchise, which received four nominations for Favorite Movie, Favorite Book, and Jennifer Lawrence for Favorite Movie Actress and Favorite Female Buttkicker. Iron Man 3 is right behind with three nods for Favorite Movie and Robert Downey Jr. for Favorite Movie Actor and Favorite Male Buttkicker. The Smurfs 2 also nabbed three nominations for Favorite Movie, Favorite Movie Actor (Neil Patrick Harris) and Favorite Movie Actress (Jayma Mays).

In television, Sam & Cat stars Jennette McCurdy and Ariana Grande, Bridgit Medler (Good Luck Charlie) Debby Ryan (Jessie) will compete for Favorite TV Actress, with their respective shows Sam & Cat, Good Luck Charlie, Jessie, along with The Big Bang Theory rounding out the Favorite TV Show nominees. First-time nominees Benjamin Flores Jr. (The Haunted Hathaways) and Jack Griffo (The Thundermans) will face off against last year's KCA winner for Favorite TV Actor, Ross Lynch (Austin & Ally), and 2012 winner, Jake Short (A.N.T. Farm) for the coveted blimp.

Stacking up three nominations this year, Katy Perry will take on Lady Gaga, Selena Gomez and Taylor Swift for Favorite Female singer, while musical sensation One Direction will face-off against Maroon 5, One Republic and Macklemore & Ryan Lewis for Favorite Music Group. Katy Perry and One Direction will also return as nominees in the same categories in which they took home blimps last year. Former Kids' Choice Awards host, Justin Timberlake, who is no stranger to slime, will battle contenders Bruno Mars, Pitbull and Pharrell Williams for Favorite Male Singer.

The 2014 Nickelodeon's Kids' Choice Awards will be seen in more than 375 million households around the world and in more than 25 languages.
