Paramount Hires Ted Lehman to Head Public Policy and Government Affairs

Paramount Skydance has hired Ted Lehman, who has more than 20 years of experience on Capitol Hill and the private sector, as Senior Vice President, head of U.S. public policy and government affairs.

Lehman will lead the media company’s Washington, D.C., office, in charge of all aspects of Paramount’s U.S. public policy. He starts Monday, February 2 and reports to chief legal officer Makan Delrahim, who joined the company last fall, along with the international policy and government affairs team.

Lehman joins the company after the departure of DeDe Lea, the longtime head of global public policy and government relations. When Delrahim was named chief legal officer in September, his responsibilities included oversight of Paramount’s government relations and lobbying team.

Lehman will “ensure we continue to be a proactive voice with U.S. lawmakers, regulators and other important stakeholders,” Delrahim wrote in a memo to staff Friday, January 30. Most recently, Lehman served as a partner at Todd Strategy Group, described as a bipartisan public policy and advocacy firm, where he advised media and technology companies as well as clients in other sectors. He had served as a strategic adviser to Paramount over the past few months.

Paramount’s hiring of Lehman comes as the company, led by chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) David Ellison, is waging a hostile takeover bid of Warner Bros. Discovery. Ellison and Paramount are looking to derail Netflix’s $83 billion deal to acquire Warner Bros. and HBO Max, and has been pushing the narrative that the Netflix-WB deal would face a high bar for regulatory clearance in the U.S. and abroad.

“I have known Ted for nearly 25 years and know first-hand he is respected by Republicans and Democrats alike,” Delrahim write in the memo. “His well-earned reputation stems from adopting a strategic and creative approach to complex problems – and always with professionalism, respect and integrity… His experience and leadership will serve Paramount incredibly well as we advance our policy objectives.”

Lehman is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, where he also played collegiate soccer. He received his law degree from Georgetown University Law Center, while working for the late Sen. Orrin Hatch (R-Utah), former chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee. After graduating from law school, Lehman clerked for Judge Thomas F. Hogan, who was chief judge of the D.C. District Court, before practicing law in the D.C. office of an international law firm. Lehman also previously served as chief of staff to Sen. Thom Tillis (R-SC); chief counsel on nominations for then-Senate Judiciary Committee chairman Chuck Grassley (R-IA); and counsel to the Judiciary Committee, among other experience.

Delrahim, before joining the company, had advised Skydance on its takeover of Paramount Global (a deal that closed in August). He was formerly an assistant attorney general overseeing the U.S. Department of Justice’s Antitrust Division during President Trump’s first term.

The Gripping Two-Part Documentary from See It Now Studios Explores Small Town Mystery

January 29, 2026 - Paramount+ announced today that the gripping two-part documentary from See It Now Studios, WILD BOYS: STRANGERS IN TOWN will premiere exclusively on the platform on February 18.

WILD BOYS: STRANGERS IN TOWN chronicles the astonishing true story of two young brothers who emerged from the forests of British Columbia in the summer of 2003, claiming they had been raised entirely off the grid—without schools, doctors or any record of their existence. When a local mother takes them in hoping to help the brothers build a new life, a small-town obsession is ignited with journalists and authorities digging deeper and raising unsettling questions about how far people are willing to go to believe a story they want to be true.

The TV Foundation Announces 17 Founding Class Confident Organisations

Broadcasters and production companies join the movement to improve working class representation in the TV industry.

Published today, The TV Foundation announces the 17 founding Class Confident organisations. They have all applied to join the Class Confident movement to remove barriers for people from working class backgrounds to get into and stay in the TV industry.

The founding members are:  All3Media, Banijay UK, BBC, BBC Studios, Channel 4, Fremantle UK, Hat Trick Productions, ITV, Multitude Media, Paramount, Purple Productions (part of Objective Media Group), South Shore, Studio Lambert, The Farm, The Garden (part of ITV Studios), XXIV Communications and Zinc Media Group.

Part of the ongoing work of The TV Foundation’s class and social equality working group, the Class Confident movement is a way to recognise and support organisations – big and small – that are innovating and leading the cultural shift we need to make the TV industry class confident.

To join, organisations must show how they are meeting the Class Confident Actions, a series of prompts to remove barriers for people from working class backgrounds to work in TV. The Actions were launched by The TV Foundation at the Edinburgh TV Festival 2025 and can be found on the TV Foundation website alongside details on how to the apply, for companies across the industry to get involved.

You don’t have to have all the answers to be a Class Confident organisation, but you do need to show that you have recognised the additional hurdles that class presents and you are committed to implementing change, as all founding member organisations have done in their application to the movement. We want industry professionals to feel confident they can have real conversations about class with these founding partners.

Working class audiences are TVs largest potential audience but this is not reflected in the TV industry workforce. The TV Foundation’s report Let’s Talk About Class: Appealing to the UK’s Largest Audience, found that nearly 1 in 4 people in senior TV roles have the cultural and economic advantages of a private school education, over three times higher than the 7.5% of the general population who are privately educated. Successful applicants will join a peer-learning network to share best practice and learn from the challenges they have faced. They will also benefit from discounted rates to the Edinburgh TV Festival 2026.

Live NFL games will be broadcast in primetime on free-to-air TV, with two Sunday evening games on 5 and 5ACTION throughout season as part of new multi-year deal

Wider NFL partnership with Paramount and CBS Sports to include the return of Slimetime on Nickelodeon

5 and Paramount UK today announced a major new multi-year partnership with the National Football League (NFL) and CBS Sports to bring live coverage of the NFL season free-to-air to UK viewers.

Every week through the NFL season, two Sunday evening games will be broadcast; the first at 6pm on 5 and the second at 9pm on 5ACTION – which will be branded as 5NFL for game nights. Both games will also be streamed live.

The broadcaster will also show the Super Bowl free-to-air in the UK. In addition, it will broadcast NFL London and Dublin international games, as well as Thanksgiving Day specials and three playoff games.

NFL BIG GAME NIGHT

NFL coverage on 5 will kick off at 5:30pm on game nights, hosted by Dermot O’Leary, with Sam Quek and double-Super Bowl winner Osi Umenyiora. 5 is partnering with leading entertainment producer, Hungry Bear Media, on a new play-along entertainment format which will air around the 6pm games, designed to appeal to a Sunday early-evening family audience.

‘NFL: Big Game Night’ is a completely new way to enjoy watching the greatest show on turf. Each week, Dermot will be joined by Sam and Osi in a purpose-built studio for an entertainment format that runs alongside the big NFL Game of the Week at 6pm on 5.

Whenever the NFL game stops in the US, 5 will keep going with the fun and games – in the form of the unique ‘game within a game’. Two teams of friends and family in the UK will battle for prizes in a series of games that are fast, furious and fun. They will be representing the two teams playing that night and can only score points when their team has the ball – so they’d better hope their team doesn’t fumble in the Big Game, or the other team could snatch up their chance to win. The winning team on the night will play one final game where they have the chance to win a holiday to an NFL city in the United States.

From Hungry Bear Media – the team behind Michael McIntyre’s The Wheel and Big Show and Gladiators – ‘NFL: Big Game Night’ is a riotous, family-friendly mix of world class sport and world class entertainment.

WIDER SUPPORT FROM PARAMOUNT’S FAMILY OF BRANDS

In addition to the live game coverage and new entertainment format, there will be supporting programming across the wider Paramount UK family of brands. This includes the return of the industry-leading kids and family NFL show, Slimetime UK (Season 3) on Nickelodeon in 2026. The show will be produced by Paramount Brand Studio International.

Coverage of 5’s NFL package will be supported by a nationwide marketing campaign.

Paramount’s Channel 5 Unveils Super Bowl Plans For UK Coverage

Paramount’s Channel 5 (now 5) has unveiled plans for coverage of its first Super Bowl in more than 20 years.

5 has taken over American football coverage in the UK this season and will broadcast live from Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, CA for the New England Patriots vs Seattle Seahawks NFL title game beginning at 10.30 p.m. GMT on Sunday.

Super Bowl LX Commercials Featuring Famous Faces: From Sabrina Carpenter To Bowen Yang

The biggest night in American sport will be hosted by Dermot O’Leary and Sam Quek, who will be joined by NFL stars providing punditry and analysis throughout the game. 5 will also air the halftime show featuring multi-Grammy winner Bad Bunny before finishing with the post-match on-field celebrations including the Lombardi Trophy lift. Troy Hawke will be greeting the great and good of the American football world direct from the NFL Honors ceremony, while TikTok star Ellie Evelyn will be back on home soil, speaking to some of the UK’s biggest NFL fans.

The Super Bowl will also be shown on Sky but has had a free-to-air home in the UK for years. For the previous four years the game was shown on ITV. It was last on Channel 5 in 2004.

Channel 5 has been showing two NFL games per week this season under the pact between Paramount UK, the NFL and CBS Sports. It hasn’t all been plain sailing, however, with fans taking aim at the decision to gamify its coverage when it first started airing in September.
