Peyo Company and Paramount Pictures are proud to announce that the new Smurfs Movie will have its world premiere on Saturday, June 28 in the magical city of Brussels, Belgium, the birthplace of our beloved little blue friends!
This date coincides with Global Smurfs Day, the annual celebration during which fans around the world spread their smurfiness and pay tribute to Peyo. This year, the streets of Brussels will be transformed into a smurfy party, filled with joy, laughter and a blue!
This smurftacular event promises to be a memorable tribute to Peyo's work and the Smurfs universe, on the occasion of the theatrical release of the new film in July.
In Smurfs, when Papa Smurf (John Goodman) is mysteriously taken by evil wizards, Razamel and Gargamel, Smurfette (Rihanna) leads the Smurfs on a mission into the real world to save him. With the help of new friends, the Smurfs must discover what defines their destiny to save the universe.
The CG-animated family feature also features the voices of James Corden, Nick Offerman, JP Karliak, Daniel Levy, Amy Sedaris, Natasha Lyonne, Sandra Oh, Octavia Spencer, Nick Kroll, Hannah Waddingham, Alex Winter, Maya Erskine, Billie Lourd, Xolo Maridueña and Marshmello, with Kurt Russell and John Goodman.
Smurfs is directed by Chris Miller (Puss in Boots, Shrek the Third) and written by Emmy winner Pam Brady (South Park; Ruby Gillman, Teenage Kraken). The film is produced by Jay Brown, Ty Ty Smith, Robyn Rihanna Fenty and Ryan Harris, p.g.a.
The project is produced by Paramount Animation, Lafig Belgium and Smurfs rightsholders IMPS, with distribution by Paramount Pictures.
