All good Saturday mornings eventually have to end.
IDW Publishing has released a preview of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Saturday Morning Adventures #41, the extra-sized series finale arriving Wednesday, September 23. Writer Erik Burnham, artist Sarah Myer, and colorist Luis Antonio Delgado are gathering the Turtles around the cereal bowl one last time for a finale involving interdimensional geese, Ace Duck, and even a glimpse at the future of Old Man Mikey.
And if that combination doesn’t sound like Saturday Morning Adventures, I don’t know what does.
The finale brings to a close a run that has spent years lovingly expanding the world of the classic 1987 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (or Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles in the U.K.) animated series. Back when the oversized finale was first announced in June, Burnham described working on the series as “genuinely one of the best experiences I’ve had in my career,” praising the creative team and everyone involved for keeping such a lengthy run fun and consistently on schedule.
Myer was equally enthusiastic about what readers can expect from the final chapter, teasing an emotional moment involving Splinter and Leonardo alongside the considerably stranger spectacle of Ace Duck punching geese. She also hinted at some Kirby Crackle-powered surprises and reminded fans that there are always more dimensions and portals waiting out there.
Now we finally get to see how some of that comes together.
According to IDW’s synopsis:
Surprise! It’s an extra-sized Saturday Morning Adventures finale, featuring a final battle with some evil geese from another dimension, an appearance by a heroic duck, and even a peek at the future of Old Man Mikey, who we last saw in the Battle Nexus crossover! Grab your cereal bowls and gather round one last time — cowabunga!
