‘SpongeBob SquarePants’ & ‘The Patrick Star Show’ Renewed For More New Seasons By Nickelodeon

Nickelodeon has picked up additional seasons of its longest-running series, SpongeBob SquarePants, and its spinoff The Patrick Star Show.

What to Know:

Nickelodeon continues to expand the globally beloved animated property with the renewal of additional cycles of SpongeBob SquarePants and its spinoff The Patrick Star Show.

The brand has renewed SpongeBob SquarePants (seasons 18+19 with 26 half-hour episodes in total) and The Patrick Star Show for (seasons 6 and 7 with 26 half-hour episodes in total).

Brand-new episodes of SpongeBob SquarePants are premiering Fridays in June and will continue to rollout into July and August with The Patrick Star Show joining the lineup on Fridays.

SpongeBob SquarePants season 17 launches June 12 and The Patrick Star Show season 5 launches July 17.

Patrick Star is not leaving SpongeBob SquarePants.

SpongeBob SquarePants, starring Tom Kenny, has been renewed for Cycle 16 (Seasons 18 and 19 with 26 half-hour episodes in total) and The Patrick Star Show, headlined by Bill Fagerbakke, for Cycle 4 (Seasons 6 and 7 with 26 half-hour episodes in total).

All four new seasons are currently in production. Season 18 of SpongeBob SquarePants and Season 6 of The Patrick Star Show are scheduled to premiere on Nickelodeon in Q4 2026, with Season 19 of SpongeBob and Season 7 of Patrick Star slated for 2027.

Nickelodeon also confirmed that Patrick Star is not leaving SpongeBob SquarePants.

The SpongeBob SquarePants and The Patrick Star Show pickups follow similar renewals last month for Nickelodeon’s PAW Patrol and spinoff Rubble & Crew for an additional 26 episodes each, marking seasons 14 and 15 for Paw Patrol, and seasons 5 and 6 for Rubble & Crew. Meanwhile, the network late last year canceled Paramount+ Original series Dora and Tales Of The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

The pickups and the cancellations fit into the programming shift after the Paramount-Skydance merger that prioritizes top franchises across the Paramount cable brands consolidated into a TV Media division overseen by Chair George Cheeks. He signaled the strategy in a memo last November that named both SpongeBob and PAW Patrol while hinting at a slimming down the roster of cable series. (Because of how long it takes to produce animated series, the new cycles of SpongeBob SquarePants and The Patrick Star Show were likely already in the works at the time.)

“Our cable brands will focus on a more curated slate, optimizing programming and marketing resources to amplify what resonates most,” Cheeks said back then. “That means leaning into franchises like SpongeBob, PAW Patrol, RuPaul’s Drag Race, South Park, Ms. Pat and The Daily Show, while continuing to develop new IP across our studios and seeking new ways to amplify and connect with audiences.”

New episodes of SpongeBob SquarePants are premiering Fridays at 5 pm (ET/PT) and will continue to roll out into July and August, with The Patrick Star Show joining the lineup on Fridays at 6 pm (ET/PT).

The SpongeBob SquarePants franchise is the #1 cross-platform franchise in 2026-to-date among K6-11, Nickelodeon said, citing Nielsen Big Data + Panel L+SD streaming/L+3D linear.

Since its launch July 17, 1999, SpongeBob SquarePants has generated a universe of beloved characters, pop culture catchphrases and memes, theatrical releases, consumer products, a Tony award-winning Broadway musical and a global fan base. SpongeBob SquarePants is one of the most widely distributed properties in Paramount history, seen in more than 180 markets, translated in 30+ languages, and averaging more than 90 million total viewers every quarter. SpongeBob SquarePants was created by Stephen Hillenburg and produced by Nickelodeon in Burbank, Calif. The character-driven cartoon chronicles the nautical and sometimes nonsensical adventures of SpongeBob, an incurable optimist and earnest sea sponge, and his undersea friends.

The Patrick Star Show, the second SpongeBob SquarePants spinoff, stars Patrick (Bill Fagerbakke) and the rest of his family as they are constantly disrupted by his wild whims and surreal imagination.

Paramount+ Lands ‘Cop Land’ Series Adaptation

Paramount+‘s “Land” slate is growing. In a competitive situation, the streaming service has nabbed for development Cop Land, James Mangold‘s series take on his 1997 Miramax movie. The project, from Paramount Television Studios and Miramax Television, is looking to join Paramount+’s current hits MobLand and Landman. (Coincidentally, Paramount+ is also the TV home of Cop Land star Sylvester Stallone, who headlines another popular drama for the streamer, Tulsa King.) The news was first reported by Deadline.

Cop Land, co-written and executive produced by Mangold and The Old Man co-creator Robert Levine and to be directed by Mangold, was taken out in April, landing four offers. Levine will serve as showrunner.

The project’s origins date back to Jonathan Glickman’s appointment as Miramax CEO two years ago. An outreach to Mangold about adapting the title from the studio’s movie library to television was among his first moves.

The process kicked into high gear following the August acquisition of Paramount Global, which owns 49% of Miramax, by Skydance and the formation of Paramount TV Studios.

Just hours after the merger closed, Paramount won in a bidding war High Side, Mangold’s re-team with his A Complete Unknown star Timothée Chalamet. That was followed a month later by an overall deal the five-time Oscar-nominated filmmaker signed with Paramount Pictures.

Conversations stemming from the pact with Paramount TV Studios President Matt Thunell and Paramount Pictures co-chair Dana Goldberg, who oversees the TV studio, zeroed in on Cop Land as one of the first major collaborations between PTVS and Miramax TV.

Paramount TV Studios produces all Taylor Sheridan and 101 Studios series for sibling Paramount+. The studio also is behind the upcoming limited series 9/12 starring Jeremy Strong and a slew of shows in development.

Cop Land starred Stallone as the sheriff of a small New Jersey town who comes into conflict with the corrupt New York City police officers who live there. The movie also starred Harvey Keitel, Ray Liotta and Robert De Niro.

Mangold wrote and directed the well-reviewed film with a formidable cast for a filmmaker with only a small indie movie, Heavy, under his belt until then. (The cast also included Peter Berg, Janeane Garofalo, Robert Patrick, Michael Rapaport, Annabella Sciorra, Noah Emmerich and Cathy Moriarty.) Distributed by Miramax, Cop Land grossed $63.7 million on a $15 million budget.

This marks Mangold’s return to television after almost a decade. He most recently executive produced the USA series Damnation, which streamed on Netflix. Mangold’s feature directing credits also include Girl, Interrupted, Walk the Line, 3:10 to Yuma, as well as the Adapted Screenplay Oscar nominee Logan, Best Picture nominee Ford v. Ferrari and Best Picture and Best Director nominee A Complete Unknown. He is repped by WME, Entertainment 360 and Sloane, Offer, Weber & Dern.

Levine was co-creator and executive producer on the FX series The Old Man starring Jeff Bridges. He also co-created and executive produced Starz’s Black Sails, worked on Jericho, Harpers Island, Human Target and Touch and adapted for TV another Miramax movie title, Gone Baby Gone, which went to pilot at Fox in 2018. Levine is repped by WME and TFC Management.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin

Revealed during the Summer Game Fest showcase, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin is a AAA action-adventure game being developed by Platinum Games and published by Paramount Games. Based on the popular comic book series, TMNT: The Last Ronin follows the last surviving Ninja Turtle as he embarks on a desperate mission for vengeance. TMNT: The Last Ronin will be available on consoles and PC.

In tandem with the trailer reveal of TMNT: The Last Ronin at Summer Game Fest, Paramount Games is launching a limited-edition BossLogic merchandise collection, featuring The Last Ronin-themed apparel and collectible poster art. The announcement was made on stage by series stars Yvette Nicole Brown and Liv Hewson during the global livestream event. Fans in attendance and watching worldwide were also treated to a first-look at the official trailer.

Among Us follows a group of eccentric, monochromatic Crewmates of a ship transporting junk across the galaxy who must root out an Impostor in their midst before they fall victim to its villainous designs. The series is based on the globally popular multiplayer social deception game of the same name.

The voice cast includes Yvette Nicole Brown as “Orange,” Kimiko Glenn as “Cyan,” Liv Hewson as “Black,” Ashley Johnson as “Purple,” Wayne Knight as “Lime,” Phil LaMarr as “Brown,” Randall Park as “Red,” Dan Stevens as “Blue,” Debra Wilson as “Yellow” and “Computer,” Elijah Wood as “Green” and Patton Oswalt as “White.”

Among Us follows a group of eccentric, monochromatic Crewmates of a ship transporting junk across the galaxy who must root out an Impostor in their midst before they fall victim to its villainous designs.

The Paramount+ series is based on the globally popular multiplayer social deception game of the same name.

The voice cast includes Yvette Nicole Brown (Drake & Josh, Community, The Odd Couple) as “Orange,” Kimiko Glenn (Baby Shark's Big Show, Orange is the New Black) as “Cyan,” Liv Hewson (Yellowjackets, Bombshell) as “Black,” Ashley Johnson (The Last of Us, Blindspot) as “Purple,” Wayne Knight (Catscratch, Seinfeld, Hot in Cleveland) as “Lime,” Phil LaMarr (The Loud House, Futurama) as “Brown,” Randall Park (Always Be My Maybe, Fresh Off the Boat) as “Red,” Dan Stevens (Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, Cuckoo) as “Blue,” Debra Wilson (Baby Shark's Big Show, MADtv) as “Yellow” and “Computer,” Elijah Wood (The Lords of the Rings trilogy, Wilford) as “Green,” and Patton Oswalt (Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, The Goldbergs, The King of Queens) as “White.”

Among Us is created by Owen Dennis, who also serves as executive producer alongside Forest Willard and Marcus Bromander, and Carl Neisser for Innersloth. Titmouse serves as the animation studio, with executive producers Chris Prynoski, Shannon Prynoski, Antonio Canobbio and Ben Kalina.

The Among Us game became a global phenomenon, reaching nearly 500 million monthly active users at its peak in Q4 2020. The game generated more than 4 billion views on YouTube and over 1.22 billion viewing sessions on Twitch.

In October 2020 alone, it ranked #1 on Google Play in 66 countries and #1 on iOS in 55 countries, with Top 100 placements in nearly every market worldwide.

Once fans have watched the show enough to memorize all the lines, they are invited to pop into Among Us game and continue all the mischief. Innersloth has also announced Among Us Story: On Guard, a upcoming narrative-driven adventure based in the Among Us universe. Fans will be able to get hands on with the game with a demo releasing on Among Us’s 8th birthday, Monday, June 15th, 2026!

Paramount+ today debuted the official trailer and key art for the highly anticipated new romantic drama, Two Years Later, which will premiere exclusively on the platform on Thursday, 4 June. Starring acclaimed Australian actors Phoebe Tonkin (Boy Swallows Universe, Bloom, Babylon) and Brenton Thwaites (Pirates of the Caribbean, Titans, Maleficent), original series Two Years Later is a modern love story that explores the deeply relatable and tender complexities of love, identity, ambition, and the winding path to commitment.

Created by screenwriter Pete Bridges and produced by Emmy^® and BAFTA Award-winning production company, Hoodlum, Two Years Later is set in a post-pandemic world, following thirty-somethings Emily (Tonkin) and Ryan (Thwaites) whose brief, daily flirtations on their work commute are abruptly cut off by COVID-19.

Two years later, they reconnect unexpectedly, and Ryan impulsively proposes they go on eight dates to decide if they’re meant to be married. Together, they navigate personal revelations, unexpected family drama, professional upheavals, and their contrasting worldview – all while discovering genuine intimacy.
