Nick@Nite to Air 'BET Awards' 2026 on June 28

BET has announced that the BET Awards 2026 will air LIVE from the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles on Sunday, June 28, at 8 PM ET/PT on BET and simulcast across the Paramount ecosystem, including
on BET HER, CMT, LOGO, MTV, MTV2, Nickelodeon (during Nick@Nite), Paramount, POP, VH1, Comedy Central, and TV Land!

'BET Awards' 2026 Logo

Culture’s Biggest Night, this year's BET Awards will be hosted by award-winning comedian, entertainer, and cultural sensation Druski, who will become the youngest-ever host of the BET Awards, eclipsing Kevin Hart, who previously held the distinction in 2011.

“It’s an honor to be the youngest host EVER for the BET Awards,” Druski said. “I grew up watching the BET Awards and, to know the comedic legends that hosted before me set the bar so high, I’m just grateful to be a part of the history. BUT I’m still bringing my brand of comedy to the stage, so expect a little chaos, a lot of laughs, and some of your favorite Druski characters to pop out along the way.”

BET Awards is one of the most-watched award shows on cable television, according to the Nielsen Company. The BET Awards franchise remains the #1 program in cable TV history among African-Americans, and it is the #1 telecast for BET every year. It recognizes the triumphs and successes of artists, entertainers, and athletes in a variety of categories.

For 25 years, the BET Awards has been one of the most powerful cultural platforms in entertainment, honoring the artists, creators, and leaders shaping culture in real time. Built on the pillars of community, culture, and connection, it has delivered iconic performances, unforgettable tributes, and moments that continue to resonate far beyond the stage. The show reflects the creativity, influence, and reach of Black culture across music, television, film, sports, fashion, and more.

“As one of the most exciting and influential comedic voices of his generation, Druski brings a unique ability to connect with audiences through humor that feels both fresh and deeply rooted in culture,” said Connie Orlando, EVP, Specials, Music Programming & Music Strategy at BET. “As we prepare for this year’s BET Awards, we’re thrilled to have him bring his signature energy and perspective to the stage, helping set the tone for a night that celebrates the achievements and cultural impact of our community.”

“Druski represents the kind of bold, culture-driving talent that continues to shape the future of entertainment. His voice resonates across platforms, blending comedy and authentic connection in a way that aligns perfectly with our vision for BET. Partnering with Druski as host reflects our commitment to elevating the new generation of comedians who are redefining how audiences engage with content today,” said Louis Carr, President, BET.

Connie Orlando, EVP of Specials, Music Programming and Music Strategy, serves as Executive Producer for BET Awards 2026. Jesse Collins Entertainment is the production company for the show, with Jesse Collins, Dionne Harmon, and Jeannae Rouzan-Clay also serving as Executive Producers.

Additional announcements, including nominees and performers, will be revealed in the coming weeks. Culture's Biggest Week returns with BET Experience 2026 (BETX), three days of immersive, fan-focused events, June 25-27, ahead of BET Awards 2026.

BET Experience is the destination for elevating unapologetic Blackness with authentic entertainment, access, and lifestyle experiences. Through the lens of millennial and Gen Z audiences, BET Experience curates the culture, standing at the intersection of who this coveted segment is and where they’re headed.

David Bittler Steps Down as Paramount's EVP Communications for Kids & Family

David Bittler, a 25-year Paramount/Viacom veteran, is leaving the company where he most recently served as Executive Vice President (EVP) Communications for Paramount Kids & Family. He announced his departure in a company memo, a copy of which was obtained by Deadline.

David Bittler Headshot
David Bittler | Courtesy

He is the second top-level corporate communications executive to leave following Skydance’s acquisition of Paramount Global, joining Liza Burnett Fefferman, who recently stepped down as EVP and Head of Communications for Showtime/MTV Entertainment Studios and Paramount Media Networks. They worked for the two Paramount Global co-CEOs who departed when the transaction was completed, Brian Robbins and Chris McCarthy, respectively, with the co-CEO areas getting divvied up post-merger.

In this most recent role, Bittler oversaw strategic communications and media relations for Nickelodeon, Awesomeness and the kids & family content for Paramount+.

Over the years, he has led multi-platform campaigns across theatricals, streaming, linear television, consumer products and live experiences and has steered communications for such global franchises as SpongeBob SquarePants, PAW Patrol, Dora the Explorer, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Avatar: The Last Airbender.

Bittler joined Viacom in 2000. He spearheaded the historic debut of Logo, the first ad-supported LGBTQ+ television network, and also worked at MTV Networks, Spike TV and TNN.

“It has been years of long hours, big wins, and countless challenges, and for me, time flew for all of it. I could take the pro forma route here and list all the things I’m most proud of, but that’s already on LinkedIn,” he wrote in his email to staff. “So instead of telling you what I did, I will tell you why. I did it for the audience. I did it for our people here and for our brands that mean so much to so many. But most of all, I did it for love.”

Bittler, who was instrumental in shaping Nickelodeon's brand’s image in the industry and with consumers, demonstrated his wry sense of humor with the subject line of his exit memo: “I Was Dreaming When I Wrote This.” That’s the opening line of Prince’s indelible hit “1999,” which is the year before the Nickelodeon communications executive joined the kidvid powerhouse in New York, after working in TV news communications for CNN and CNBC.

Here is his memo, which carried the subject line “I Was Dreaming When I Wrote This”:

Hello, all you beautiful people!

For those who remember, that was the MTV Networks-era opening line for so many of the speeches and email missives delivered to us, and I humbly use it today to harness that spirit to signal my departure from these storied halls of 1515 Broadway.

For so many years, this company has been a big tent party both on and off the screen(s), welcoming in fresh directions and new ideas from all paths of life as we worked together to create a wealth of groundbreaking characters, shows, experiences and moments that electrified the culture globally time and time again.

But you already know this. That’s the draw. That’s the pull. That’s what keeps us coming back day after day and year after year—to be a part of these teams, a part of this bounty of creativity, a part of it all.
And while today we find ourselves in another era of evolution, and at an exciting inflection point, this is the turn in the road where I must loosen the yoke and diverge from this pack of marvelous people and from the brands and shows I have promoted and protected for so long…like Nick and Nick at Nite, MTVN, Logo and Spike, SpongeBob and Dora, iCarly, Avatar: The Last Airbender, PAW Patrol and all the TMNTs under the sun.

It has been years of long hours, big wins, and countless challenges, and for me, time flew for all of it. I could take the pro forma route here and list all the things I’m most proud of, but that’s already on LinkedIn. Come follow me!

So instead of telling you what I did, I will tell you why. I did it for the audience. I did it for our people here and for our brands that mean so much to so many. But most of all, I did it for love.

Ciao, for now!
David

Nickelodeon and Paramount Channels Affected By Global IT Outage

It appears that many of Paramount Global's channels were affected by the global technology outage on Friday, July 19, including Nicktoons, Nick Jr. and TeenNick in the U.S., causing many to display "Technical Difficulties" slides.

Nicktoons' Technical Difficulties Slide

The cause of the disruptions originated from a cybersecurity firm called CrowdStrike, which provides software to a wide range of industries. An update to one of CrowdStrike’s pieces of software, Falcon Sensor, malfunctioned, throwing a wrench into computers running Windows, leading to major tech failures around the world, the company said.

The outage started about 1:45am ET, with Nicktoons being down until about 4:45aam.

TeenNick (East Feed) started glitching about 1:19am ET during iCarly, and remained dark for about 20 minutes before returning, starting over where "iSell Penny Tees" glitched. The rest of the iCarly marathon was off schedule. Because of the 20-minute delay, all the remaining iCarly marathon was shifted down. After "iOMG" aired in full (ending about 5:57am, instead of the scheduled 5:36am), the last episode "iOwe You" only aired for its last 90 seconds (no intro or credits).

Nick Jr.'s Technical Difficulties Slide

Other Paramount channels affected by the outage included MTV Classic, VH1, VH1 Soul, MTV Jams, and Logo.

Meanwhile, in Australia, Channel 10's news service went offline, with "humble news social team admins" uploading a homemade error image on their official X/Twitter account:

ViacomCBS, Verizon Strike Multiyear Carriage Deal

The multiyear deal covers the full range of ViacomCBS' networks and retransmission consent for CBS-owned TV stations.

ViacomCBS and telecom giant Verizon's FiOS have struck a new carriage agreement, the second major pact for the entertainment giant since the recombination of Viacom and CBS closed in December.

The companies didn't make a formal announcement, but sources confirmed the agreement to The Hollywood Reporter.

In January, ViacomCBS struck a new carriage deal with Comcast that covered Viacom networks and made sure Comcast's agreements with the CBS and Viacom portfolios now end at the same time. The Verizon pact is the first one that covers the complete ViacomCBS portfolio.

Financial terms weren't disclosed, but the multiyear deal covers the full range of ViacomCBS' networks, which include CBS, CBS Sports Network, Nickelodeon, Showtime, MTV, BET, Comedy Central and the Paramount Network. The deal also covers retransmission consent for CBS-owned TV stations.

ViacomCBS CEO Bob Bakish has focused on a positive, collaborative approach to carriage deals compared to his Viacom predecessors' approach, but Wall Street has continued to wonder whether the merged firm would be able to strike new carriage agreements.

Bakish in a November analyst call pointed to the recombined group controlling around 22 percent of primetime TV viewing in the U.S. via CBS and Viacom's cable assets, while only getting around 11 percent of affiliate fees.

"Part of the bear thesis has been that the networks would be dropped upon renewals with distribution partners," Wolfe Research analyst John Janedis wrote in a first reaction. "With FiOS done, we expect the market to focus on a long-awaited virtual [pay TV] deal and Dish, which should take some of the pressure off the stock."

He added: "We believe the term is in the four-year range, likely co-terminus given the importance management has spoken to related to synchronizing deals post the merger." That means ViacomCBS has been targeting to reach new carriage deals that cover Viacom and CBS networks for the same periods.

Janedis also took a stab at other deal terms, writing in a report: "While pricing of the deal wasn't disclosed, we doubt ViacomCBS would have accepted terms (without going dark) that included a rate rollback. We assume [the] combined Viacom/CBS nets rate will increase at a compound annual growth rate in the mid-single digit range over the life of the deal. Although unclear, we do not believe any of the ViacomCBS nets will be re-tiered as a result of the renewal."

'RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars' Winner Monét X Change Working on New Animated Nickelodeon Show

Monét X Change, who recently became the first-ever black winner of RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars, has announced the exciting news that she's going to be part of a Nickelodeon show!

In an interview with EW.com, the 28-year-old North American drag queen, singer, and reality television personality from Brooklyn, New York revealed: "I have a Nickelodeon series I’m going to be a part of. I can’t really say what the project is, but it’s on Nickelodeon and comes out in 2020."

Update (5/23) - Monét X Change has revealed in an interview with Metro Weekly that the new Nickelodeon show she is currently working on is animated, and that she is currently in the studio recording lines for it!

Update (5/23) - Monét X Change has revealed in an interview with The Oprah Magazine that Nickelodeon is slated to announce her new animated series very soon!:

"Honestly, I don’t feel a whole lot has changed since winning. Being on Drag Race in general has afforded me amazing opportunities. I’m on a Nickelodeon cartoon series that will be announced really soon, and I’ve done Pepsi commercials with Cardi B. It’s getting me to think about one of my biggest dreams, which is having my own talk show—a goal of mine since I was a high schooler. To be a professional queen in New York City, it requires being a good host, and I love to talk. I love the drama of talk shows and the way of using your own comedy as a way to make people comfortable. [In May, she began hosting The X Change Rate as part of the Build series.]"

In addition to being crowned the winner of RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars season four, along with fellow competitor Trinity The Tuck, who are now both being entered into the prestigious Drag Race Hall of Fame, Monét (whose real name Kevin Bertin) has also recently been seen in the Pepsi Super Bowl commercial with Cardi B, and is planning to release her debut EP Unapologetically, made in collaboration with artists who’ve clocked time with Whitney Houston, Justin Bieber, and Michael Jackson, on Friday, February 22, 2019!

I also have my EP and my visual album that people have been reacting to so positively. People are recognizing that I’m trying to take drag into the mainstream realm because in my heart of hearts I think drag is a magical thing, Monét told EW.com.

Monét wouldn't be the first star of RuPaul's Drag Race to cross over to Nickelodeon: RuPaul guest starred in an episode of Nickelodeon's hit CG-animated preschool series Bubble Guppies in 2015, in which he voiced RuPearl, a fashionable sea snail that serves as a ringside boxing announcer.

Check out Monét's super interview with Entertainment Weekly in full on EW.com!

Viacom Announces New Structure for Media Networks Group [Updated W/ Kevin Kay's Farewell Memo to Staff]

Viacom Announces New Structure for Media Networks Group

Viacom Media Networks streamlines to four operating groups

Paramount Network and TV Land will now operate alongside Comedy Central

CMT joins MTV, VH1 and Logo Group

Kevin Kay to leave the company

NEW YORK--Viacom Inc. (NASDAQ: VIAB, VIA) today announced a new, simplified structure for Viacom Media Networks (VMN). Effective immediately, VMN will consist of four brand groups:

- Comedy Central, Paramount Network and TV Land
- MTV, VH1, CMT and Logo
- BET Networks
- Nickelodeon

The new structure will streamline VMN’s operations, enhancing the ability of Viacom’s network teams to coordinate scheduling and programming, share production and other resources, and leverage important talent relationships.

The Comedy Central, Paramount Network and TV Land group will be led by Kent Alterman, President, and Chris McCarthy will expand his current role of President of MTV, VH1 and Logo to now include CMT. Alterman and McCarthy will continue to report to CEO Bob Bakish. There are no changes to BET Networks or Nickelodeon.

“These changes mark the next step in the ongoing evolution of our company as we continue to ensure we’re making the most of our great assets and resources, and operating as nimbly and efficiently as we can,” said Bakish. “Comedy Central, Paramount Network and TV Land share an original content strategy anchored in scripted programming, and CMT – with its deep roots in music and unscripted programming – is a natural partner for MTV and VH1. Kent and Chris have been driving forces behind Viacom’s flagship strategy, re-energizing and growing two of our most iconic brands, and I can’t wait to see what they do next.”

With these changes, Kevin Kay will step down as President, Paramount Network, TV Land and CMT after a transition period. Kay’s achievements during his tenure at Viacom include overseeing a string of hits for Nickelodeon, such as All That, Kenan & Kel and The Adventures of Pete & Pete, as well as developing and greenlighting SpongeBob SquarePants. During his tenure at Spike, he oversaw the launch of fan-favorites like The Ultimate Fighter, Lip Sync Battle, Bar Rescue and Ink Master, as well as the expansion of Bellator.

More recently, Kay and his team successfully launched Paramount Network in January 2018. Paramount Network has achieved early critical and ratings success through the cinematic original series Waco and Yellowstone, the latter of which is the second-most-watched cable series of 2018. In addition, since Kay gained oversight of TV Land and CMT in 2017, the networks have continued to grow their devoted audiences through acclaimed original series such as Younger, Teachers and CMT Crossroads.

“Over the course of his career at Viacom, Kevin’s creative vision and gift for telling great stories have made a lasting impact,” Bakish added. “Thanks to the efforts of Kevin and his team, we have successfully established Paramount Network as a home for premium content, and TV Land and CMT continue to be dominant forces in the audiences they serve. I’m so grateful for the many contributions they have made in evolving and strengthening these world-class brands for their next chapter.”

Alterman has served as President of Comedy Central since 2016 after previously holding the position of President, Original Programming at the network. Since his return to Comedy Central in 2010, Alterman has prioritized attracting and nurturing top comedic talent, launching with his team some of the most-acclaimed comedies across the past decade, including Emmy Award-winning series such as Inside Amy Schumer, Key & Peele, Broad City, Drunk History and The Daily Show with Trevor Noah. Under his leadership, Comedy Central has greatly extended the brand across new platforms and experiences, including the launch of a global podcast network and a 24-hour satellite radio station, along with Clusterfest, a three-day comedy and music festival. Bucking industry trends, Comedy Central was one of only three Top 20 networks to maintain or grow ratings among Adults 18-49 across the recently-concluded fiscal year and has maintained or grown share for 18 consecutive months. Comedy Central streamed nearly 4.7 billion videos across digital and social platforms in FY2018, a year-over-year increase of +63%.

McCarthy was elevated to President of MTV, VH1 and Logo in October 2016 after serving as President of VH1 and Logo. In his tenure, MTV now is the fastest growing network in cable and number one with its 18-34 audience, while VH1 is riding three consecutive years of ratings growth. Together MTV and VH1 boast 19 of the top 25 unscripted series on cable. At MTV, McCarthy has engineered the network’s longest streak of ratings growth in seven years with new hits like Siesta Key and Ex on the Beach, and reimagined iconic franchises like Jersey Shore and Floribama Shore. Under his leadership, MTV has built its social footprint to more than 350 million followers and doubled video streams in 2018, while launching the transformative MTV Studios initiative to develop original series for partners across SVOD and premium TV. McCarthy is the recipient of multiple Emmys and a Peabody Award.

In additional news, Bartosz Witak, Senior Vice President (SVP), General Manager (GM) for Viacom International Media Networks (VIMN) in Central and Eastern Europe and Israel has "abruptly" left the company. Viacom confirmed the news in a statement to SorozatWiki, saying "We confirm that Bartosz Witak, vice president and chief executive officer for Central and Eastern Europe and Israel left Viacom yesterday. The Central and Eastern European region is being temporarily managed by Elena Balmont, Managing Director of the Russian, CIS and Baltic region."
