'Peppa Pig' Splashes into Stores with Limited Edition Hunter Collaboration
A new collaboration between Entertainment One’s (eOne) Peppa Pig and Hunter was launched across the brand’s flagship stores in London, Toronto and New York!
The limited-edition line of Hunter x Peppa Pig boots and accessories were unveiled in front of influencers and key media during a festival-themed event with window takeovers, Peppa Pig costumed characters and family entertainment, License Global reports.
“Our partnership with Hunter plays a significant role in the brand’s year of family celebrations. It was a natural fit from the beginning and is a perfect way to kick off our focus on partnerships as we look beyond this anniversary year for Peppa Pig,” says Katie Rollings, senior vice president, U.K. licensing, family, brands, eOne. “It’s been a genuine pleasure to see the collection brought to life and celebrated with these fantastic retail events. The collaboration has demonstrated how 'Peppa Pig' can be translated into beautifully made products that have a timeless appeal and we look forward to seeing them roll out in multiple markets.”
The collection of original kids and first classic pull-on boots, with matching accessories such as a bubble umbrella and kids backpack, are built for kids ages 2-6.
“At the core of a great Hunter experience is fun, adventure and preferably a muddy puddle. I can think of no better partner to bring this spirit to life than Peppa Pig.” says Alasdhair Willis, creative director, Hunter.
The launch, which also celebrates the 15th anniversary of the TV show with a two-part special where Peppa and George have their first-ever festival experience, was designed in line with eOne and reflects collaborations matching values of adventure.
New limited-edition products will be available across the U.K., Northern America, Japan, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Scandinavia, France and Italy later this month.

Launching back in July, the partnership between eOne’s Peppa Pig and Hunter is one which makes perfect sense. We all know how much the preschool character loves jumping in muddy puddles, while the creative director of Hunter – Alasdhair Willis – has said “at the core of a great Hunter experience is fun, adventure and preferably a muddy puddle”.
“There is real synergy between Hunter and Peppa Pig,” Rebecca Harvey, evp global marketing, eOne Family & Brands, says. “The Britishness of both brands is something that was really appealing for both of us. Hunter also shares the commitment to quality and product solutions that add value to everyday life of children, families and parents.”
Rebecca continues: “One of the great things about the partnership for me is the fact the brand, marketing, licensing and partnership teams at eOne came together to make it happen. It was a massive team effort.”
Branding included eye-catching window takeovers.
The four pieces in the collection – the Original Kids and First Classic Pull On boots, kids’ backpack and Bubble Umbrella – feature Peppa Pig and her little brother George in a distinctive muddy puddle camo pattern in three colourways. Ranging from £30 to £45, the collection is aimed at 2-6 and is available in the UK, US, Japan, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Scandinavia, France and Italy.
Hunter celebrated the launch of the limited edition collection with a series of special in-store events held across its key flagship sites in London’s Regent Street and Yorkdale Mall in Toronto, in addition to Saks Fifth Avenue in New York.
A day festival and Peppa Pig-themed entertainment for families included costumer character appearances, photo opportunities, face painting and balloon modellers. Anchoring the launch in-store, Hunter x Peppa Pig branding included window takeovers, backdrops and prominent product displays (which remained throughout the summer). Online and social media support also backed the launch of the range, while it also generated several national news stories.
Moving forward, Rebecca explains that these kind of collaborations are hugely important to the brand. “Peppa is often referenced as an evergreen and these partnerships are really important as continuing evidence that she is a true evergreen,” she says. “Peppa is a massive part of the national consciousness and I believe we can continue to reach higher critical mass than we have done even so far. Peppa needs to continue to stay relevant and these partnerships are part of that.”
Rebecca continues: “These collaborations will be a huge focus more and more for us for Peppa… we’re already talking about the next five years to the 20th anniversary and then the five after that.
“That long range plan will definitely be looking for more of these kinds of collaborations and partnerships.”

Nickelodeon Acquires International Rights To New 'Barbapapa' Series

Annecy, France – June 11, 2018 – Nick Jr. International has acquired the new animated series for legendary shapeshifting family “Barbapapa” for multiple countries across the globe.
The 52×11’ episode order, produced by Normaal, will air in the UK, Benelux, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Greece, Indonesia, Vietnam and the Philippines for both pay- and free-TV. Nick Jr. has also licensed the series for pay-TV in France, Australia, New Zealand, Scandinavia, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Israel, Africa, Latin America, Southeast Asia, India, South Korea and MENA.
Developed by French animation producer and distributor Normaal in partnership with TF1, “Barbapapa” will be written and brought to life by Alice Taylor and Thomas Taylor.
“Nickelodeon has a successful track record of supporting beloved IP and finding new audiences for it around the world,” said Layla Lewis, Senior Vice President, Global Acquisitions and Content Partnerships for Nickelodeon. “We’re thrilled to partner with Normaal to introduce the long-awaited new Barbapapa series to preschoolers.”
The beloved “Barbapapa” universe began in 1970, emerging from the combined talent of French-American couple Anette Tyson and Talus Taylor. The original series aired in 40+ countries, gaining worldwide fandom. Its success was followed by the production of a second series in 1977, then a third in 1999 by Japanese producer Kodansha.
“Barbapapa” will be distributed by FESTIVAAL distribution and delivered in 2019.

Nickelodeon will bring Barbapapa to young viewers around the world after sealing an international deal for the new adaptation of the classic 1970s kids picture-book series for its Nick Jr. channel, Variety reports.
Barbapapa dates back to the 1970s when French-American couple Anette Tyson and Talus Taylor created the property. A subsequent toon series was popular internationally, airing in over 40 countries, including on Nick Jr. Italia (as Barbapapà) and Nickelodeon España. Japanese producer Kodansha the made a second series in 1977 and a third in 1999.
The original series, launched in 1970, featured a family of shapeshifters and went on to air in more than 40 countries around the world with subsequent series launching in 1977 and 1999. Now, the reboot, announced at was announced at Annecy/MIFA 2017, is being produced and developed by French animation company Normaal in partnership with France’s largest commercial broadcaster, TF1 who commissioned it for its Tfou kids service. Written by Alice Taylor and Thomas Taylor, the preschool series will be distributed by FESTIVAAL distribution, and is set to be delivered to broadcasters in 2019.
The blob-shaped Barbapapa family, who can morph into other forms but retain their original colors, will come to life in a 52x11mins 2D series. It will be written and brought to life by Alice Taylor and Thomas Taylor.
Viacom-owned Nickelodeon will bow the show on both pay- and free-TV in the UK, Benelux, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Greece, Indonesia, Vietnam and the Philippines. Barbapapa dates back to the 1970s when French-American couple Anette Tyson and Talus Taylor created the property. A subsequent toon series was popular internationally, airing in over 40 countries, including on Nick Jr. Italia (as Barbapapà) and Nickelodeon España. Japanese producer Kodansha the made a second series in 1977 and a third in 1999.
The original series, launched in 1970, featured a family of shapeshifters and went on to air in more than 40 countries around the world with subsequent series launching in 1977 and 1999. Now, the reboot, announced at was announced at Annecy/MIFA 2017, is being produced and developed by French animation company Normaal in partnership with France’s largest commercial broadcaster, TF1 who commissioned it for its Tfou kids service. Written by Alice Taylor and Thomas Taylor, the preschool series will be distributed by FESTIVAAL distribution, and is set to be delivered to broadcasters in 2019.
The blob-shaped Barbapapa family, who can morph into other forms but retain their original colors, will come to life in a 52x11mins 2D series. It will be written and brought to life by Alice Taylor and Thomas Taylor.
Viacom-owned Nickelodeon will bow the show on both pay- and free-TV in the UK, Benelux, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Greece, Indonesia, Vietnam and the Philippines. Nick Jr. has also licensed the show for pay-TV in France, Australia, New Zealand, Scandinavia, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Israel, Africa, Latin America, Southeast Asia, India, South Korea and MENA.
“Nickelodeon has a successful track record of supporting beloved IP and finding new audiences for it around the world,” said Layla Lewis, Senior Vice President (SVP), global acquisitions and Content Partnerships for Nickelodeon. “We’re thrilled to partner with Normaal to introduce the long-awaited new ‘Barbapapa’ series to preschoolers.”
Nickelodeon recently ordered new seasons of its hit preschool series PAW Patrol, Blaze and the Monster Machines, Rusty Rivets and Top Wing. The kidsnet has also refreshed the on-air look and feel of its Nick Jr. preschool block and the Nick Jr. channel. More than 400 deliverables including bumpers, IDs, lower thirds, parent-directed curriculum messages and promo packaging feature real kids playing with Nick Jr.’s preschool characters in both animated and real-world environments.

Amscan to Launch 'Peppa Pig' Partyware Line
Amscan International has announced that it has secured the license to add party goods inspired by the beloved animated preschool series Peppa Pig to its existing range of Peppa and George dress-up and balloons! The announcement comes as 2019 marks Peppa Pig’s 15th Anniversary, and further expands the consumer product roll-out for the hit preschool property.
Available to pre-order now, Amscan’s first new ensemble will be ready to ship from August 2019. Amscan’s colourful range of Peppa Pig-themed party goods incorporates the company's best-selling items such as: plates, cups, napkins, table covers, decorations, party bags and favours.
Mel Beer, Licensing Director EMEA at Amscan, says: “We are thrilled that eOne has supported us in our ambition to offer Amscan’s customers a ‘one stop party’ opportunity for Peppa Pig - across party goods, balloons & costumes. Balloon sales for this truly evergreen property continue to grow year on year, and with the recent addition of costumes, and now party goods; our full range offering provides everything a Peppa Pig fan could possibly need to celebrate with their favourite character in style”.
The deal comes as Gemma International, the former Peppa Pig partyware licensee, goes into liquidation. Peppa was one of Gemma’s longest and best performing licenses, but after struggling in recent years, directors agreed to cease trading and called in PwC last month.
Amscan now adds a new party range that perfectly matches its existing range of Peppa Pig foil and latex balloons, which continues to be a top selling licensed franchise for the manufacturer year on year (YoY). A broad offering of balloon formats are already available, which include: Air-filled Mini Balloons, SuperShapes, Balloon Bouquets and an AirWalker (measuring 1.2 m).
Amscan’s new Peppa Pig and George costumes are also available to order now for Q4 2019 delivery, featuring three different styles: Peppa’s everyday dress complete with bear accessory, a Peppa party dress and a George cape.
In additional news, Danilo is on board to produce a range of Peppa Pig greetings cards in addition to its existing range of calendars; and IG Design Group – which currently produces Peppa Pig stationery – will add gift wrap and gift bags for the property.
eOne will be working closely with all partners to harness its vault of creative assets and style guides to inspire fresh ranges and new formats that are relevant to current customer trends.

Thousands Sign Petition Asking 'Peppa Pig' to Introduce an LGBTI Family
Nearly 18,000 people have signed a petition asking the British animated preschool series Peppa Pig introduce an LGBTI family.
The petition, started on Care 2 Petitions, comes after US TV show Arthur aired its first ever same-sex marriage.
The petition reads: ‘Despite there being six series and over 250 episodes produced so far, none of the families feature same-sex parents.
‘Children watching Peppa Pig are at an impressionable age, and excluding same-sex families will teach them that only families with either a single parent or two parents of different sexes are normal.
‘This means that children of same-sex parents may feel alienated by Peppa Pig, and that other children may be more likely to bully them, simply through ignorance.
‘Peppa Pig is not just for entertainment, children are inevitably learning from it too.’
The children’s show follows the life of Peppa Pig and her brother George. It follows their mishaps and adventures through the world. It is one of the most popular young children’s television shows in the UK and across the world.
There are a few shows already with LGBTI families and characters, though none aged at the very young age demographic of Peppa Pig. In 2016, Nickelodeon made network history with their first-ever portrayal of a same-sex male couple on their animated series The Loud House. The show has also revealed that Lincoln's sister, Luna, and her crush, Sam, are bi-sexual. The series' positive portrayal of LGBTQ+ characters has earned it two GLAAD Media Awards nominations.
The network also featured a younger unmarried female same-sex couple in the 2014 conclusion of its hit animated action series The Legend of Korra, which ended with Korra and Asami, two of the shows female characters, embarking on a romantic relationship, with fans endearingly calling the couple 'Korrasami'. Korra and Asami's relationship continues in comic book sequels to the series, including the upcoming Ruins of the Empire.
Further back in the '90s, Nickelodeon's iconic animated series Hey Arnold!, one of Arnold's teachers, Mr. Simmons, was gay. Craig Bartlett, the creator of Hey Arnold!, has also hinted that Arnold's friend, Eugene Horowitz, was also gay.
Most recently, Nickelodeon's revived Double Dare featured it's first family with two dads. A major milestone.
These representations are big deal considering that Nickelodeon has millions of viewers around the world, and the network's TV shows and movies featuring LGBTQ+ characters is an important step forward for mainstream visibility and acceptance of same-sex couples among younger viewers.
Shows like Steven Universe also have openly queer characters, whereas Star vs. the Forces of Evil has gender non-conforming characters.
Peppa Pig airs on Nickelodeon and Nick Jr. channels globally.

Peppa Pig's Puddle Jumping World Record Attempt Raises Funds for Save the Children UK
Children all over the U.K. participated in Peppa Pig Muddy Puddle walks between Monday 13th-Sunday 19th May 2019 in support of the children's charity.
As the sponsors of the 2019 Peppa Pig Muddy Puddle Walk in aid of Save the Children UK, Izzy and Jake from The Entertainer Squad joined in a world record puddle jumping attempt on Saturday.
Olympian long-jumper Greg Rutherford oversaw the 46 children and their families as they attempted to break the world record for the most children and families jumping in a puddle. A Peppa Pig costume character was also on hand to entertain the kids.
It’s yet to be revealed whether the puddle jump has broken the previous world record.
Character Options, official Peppa Peppa Pig master toy partner, is making a donation to Save the Children from the sale of every special Peppa Pig Muddy Puddles toy from the Character Options range during the Muddy Puddles campaign.

Nick Jr. UK Premieres '44 Cats'
Nick Jr. UK and Ireland will premiere the brand-new CG-animated preschool series 44 Cats on Monday 4th March 2019 on Nick Jr. Too! Created and directed by Iginio Straffi, the founder of Italian content powerhouse Rainbow Group, the makers of Winx Club and Regal Academy, and produced by Rainbow in collaboration with Antoniano Bologna and Rai Ragazzi, Nick Jr. Too will air new episodes daily at 4:30pm, with each episode encoring the following morning at 4:30am on Nick Jr., and at 9:00am on Nick Jr. Too.
Set in the world of animals, 44 Cats (52 eps x c. 13') follows the daily adventures of Lampo, Milady, Pilou, and Meatball – four adorable kittens who are part of a music band named The Buffycats.
The protagonists live and play in the Clubhouse, a garage beside old Granny Pina’s house. Their adventures explore the themes of friendship and altruism: the four cats love helping others and always find creative solutions to everyday hitches and help other cats in need. The series promotes positive attitudes and conveys educational messages dealing with important themes such as tolerance, diversity and solidarity in a funny way.
This eagerly anticipated show made its world debut on Rai Yoyo in Italy on Monday 12th November 2018. Nickelodeon International acquired the broadcast rights to the series in May 2018, and will roll the animated series out on Nickelodeon channels and branded blocks around the world, excluding in the U.S. and Latin America, throughout 2019.
44 Cats is inspired by the very popular Italian kids song "44 Gatti", which, in 1968, won the 10th edition of the Zecchino d'Oro and has since entered the collective imagination of Italians.
44 Cats is the first Rainbow Group production jointly developed with Bardel Entertainment, the Canadian animation studio it acquired in 2015, and jointly produced in collaboration with Antoniano Bologna and Rai Ragazzi, and combines great music and edutainment with high quality animation. The series also marks Rainbow’s (Winx Club, Regal Academy, Mia and me, Maggie & Bianca Fashion Friends) inaugural foray into preschool programming.
Rainbow inked a licensing deal for 44 Cats with Thai Group’s Hong Kong-based company, Toy Plus in August 2018. Under the terms of the agreement, Toy Plus will develop a variety of products including interactive plush, figurines, play sets, musical toys and more based on the music, creative play patterns and collectability featured in the series. The line of merchandise debuted in Hong Kong in October, and is slated to become available for purchase around the world in fall 2019.
Rainbow has also secured a new licensing deal for 44 Cats with holistic lifestyle company Artsana Group. Under the agreement, the company will develop a range of licensed 44 Cats-themed infant educational toys for infants and a nursing line under its Chicco brand, the largest infant brand in Europe. The deal also includes apparel and accessories collections by Prenatal and Chicco. Products are expected to hit retail shelves later this year and will be supported by a dedicated, high-level marketing campaign delivered jointly by Rainbow and Artsana Group, which is also based in Italy.

“44 Cats is a perfect fit for Pop, with its blend of friendship and fun—and cute kitties!” added Sarah Muller, VP of children’s and youth entertainment programming at Pop TV parent company Sony Pictures Television.
The brand has also expanded into consumer products, with Rainbow inking a deal making Discovery Kids the exclusive licensing and merchandising partner in LatAm (excluding master toy) for the series. Hong Kong-based Toys Plus is also launching a range of toys, including figurines, playsets and musical offerings globally this fall.

UK - Join the party in spring 2019 when Entertainment One’s (eOne) beloved preschool series Peppa Pig will be heading back into cinemas nationwide for an all-new big screen adventure to mark the 15 year anniversary of the nation’s favourite little piggy! Set for release from April 2019, Peppa Pig: Festival of Fun is perfectly timed to entertain little ones ahead of the Easter holidays.
The hour-long theatrical release gives preschool audiences 10 brand new and never-before-broadcast episodes featuring a 2-part festival special, complete with new characters and locations. Little piggies can look forward to a whole hour of snorts and giggles with songs to sing along to and dances and movements to join in with; making it the prefect cinema outing for pre-schoolers and all the family to enjoy. Each of the ten brand-new episodes will be connected with never-before-seen interactive entertainment featuring little ones singing and playing along with their favourite onscreen characters.
The new release is part of eOne’s successful My First Cinema Experience format which offers young children a gentle introduction to the cinema for little ones and features the familiar voice talents of Harley Bird (Peppa), Morwenna Banks (Mummy Pig), Richard Ridings (Daddy Pig), Sarah Ann Kennedy (Miss Rabbit) and John Sparkes (narrator).
Peppa Pig My First Cinema Experience took in £3.7 million ($4.7 million) at the U.K. box office in 2017.

Peppa Pig airs on Nick Jr. and Viacom’s Channel 5 Milkshake in the U.K., and on Nickelodeon and Nick Jr. channels globally. No date has been set yet for the new Festival of Fun episodes to run on TV, but the expectation is that they will launch next fall. A DVD and download release will have the new instalments as well as the interactive content.
Peppa Pig is created by Neville Astley and Mark Baker and produced by Astley Baker Davies Ltd and Entertainment One (eOne).
The animated preschool show is one of eOne’s key properties. Last year it announced that 117 new episodes were entering production, which will start airing next year and take the total episode count to 381.
