Nickelodeon Reportedly Cancels 'I Am Frankie'

Update (6/6) - Actor Nicole Alyse Nelson, who portrayed Dayton in the hit series, has seemingly confirmed that I Am Frankie has been canceled. In a tweet, the actor told fans:

"The end of an era but the start of an age. Thank you for watching. Without you, we wouldn’t have even gotten to make the 42 episodes that we did. I am Frankie might be over, but this talented group is just getting started. Stay tuned, kids. The best is yet to come. XOXO"

Update (4/23) - Actor Todd Allen Durkin has reportedly revealed to a fan that Nickelodeon has decided to cancel and not renew I Am Frankie for a third season. Durkin, who portrays James on I Am Frankie, is also reportedly have said that Nickelodeon was planning a I Am Frankie TV movie, but has now decided against it. Please note that this news has yet to be confirmed by Nickelodeon.

Original post:

Feels like things are getting real.. again!

During a recent appearance at Gamer Comic Expo 2018 in Miami, Florida in November 2018 to promote his movie, Trico Tri Happy Halloween, Carson Rowland, who plays Cole Reyes in I Am Frankie, revealed in a interview with Pero... Let Me Tell You! that Nickelodeon are planning to make a third season of the network's hit serialized live-action show! Check out the interview below!:

It's important to note that this interview was recorded back in November 2018, and a lot has changed at Nickelodeon since then, which could mean that plans for a third season could have been shelved since. However, fingers crossed!

I Am Frankie tells the story of Frankie Gaines (Alex Hook), a cutting-edge, experimental android who looks like any other human girl, but harbours a big secret--she functions as a high-tech computer with internet access, extensive memory and more. I Am Frankie will air Monday–Friday at 5:30pm (AEST) on Nickelodeon AU/NZ.

In season two, which aired on Nick USA in September 2018, Frankie had finally acclimated to teenage life at Sepulveda High with the help of her best friend Dayton (Nicole Alyse Nelson) and their tight-knit group of loyal confidantes. However, things quickly became complicated when a new android arrives at the school, and the world finally learnt that androids exist, and the military company, WARPA (Weaponized Android Research Project Agency), returned with a new threat. Throughout the season, Frankie aimed to keep her true identity a secret, while protecting her family and friends and attempting to live a normal life.

I Am Frankie stars Amina Alzouma (“Rachel”), Uriel Baldesco (“Lucia”), Kristi Beckett (“Makayla”), Kyson Facer (“Andrew”), Sophia Forest (“Jenny”), Mohana Krishnan (“Tammy”), Tommi Rose (“Simone”), Carson Rowland (“Cole”), and Zachary S. Williams (“Zane”).

Filmed at Viacom International Studios (VIS) in Miami, I Am Frankie was originally produced as Yo Soy Franky by Nickelodeon Latin America in Colombia. The series is created by renowned Argentine writer Marcela Citterio. The English language version is produced by Paradiso Pictures and Nickelodeon Latin America.

Additionally, in the interview, Carson revealed that he'll be working on a brand-new Christmas movie by the same producer of Trico Tri Happy Halloween!

Nick Cannon Honors Nickelodeon, Reflects on Lupus Diagnosis at 2018 Make-A-Wish Gala

Nick Cannon, who got his start on Nickelodeon shows 'All That' and 'Kenan & Kel,' celebrated the network at Wednesday's charity event.

Nick Cannon returned to his roots on Wednesday night, hosting the annual Make-A-Wish Foundation Gala where Nickelodeon, the network the launched the star's career, was honored.

Cannon, who first found fame on early Nickelodeon hits like All That, Kenan & Kel and The Nick Cannon Show, also started his work with Make-A-Wish during that time, telling The Hollywood Reporter that, "my first Make-A-Wish experience was through Nickelodeon and I've been working with them for decades. Whenever Make-A-Wish calls, I answer."

Partnering with the charity, which makes a dream or "wish" come true for children with critical illnesses, has allowed Cannon to reflect on his own health struggles and battle with lupus, which he was diagnosed with in 2012.

"When you get in the room with some of these wish kids, it just puts everything in proper perspective for you," the former America's Got Talent host told the audience inside the Los Angeles event. "As someone who's been diagnosed with a serious illness as well and being able to connect with these kids, and they tell me their stories and I tell them my story and we talk about everything from boring hospital visits to being excited about life, it really touches me every single time."

Cannon has never lost touch with his Nickelodeon roots, becoming the Chairman of TeenNick, and regularly hosting shows and events for the network, including Lip Sync Battle Shorties and the network's annual Nickelodeon HALO Awards, which honors amazing kids for Helping and Leading Others (HALO). The star is also executive producing Nickelodeon's upcoming digital short-form series, Drop That Seat.

Aside from Nickelodeon, which was celebrated for fulfilling hundreds of wishes for children though TV show set visits, Kids' Choice Awards tickets and amusement park trips, chef Gordon Ramsay was also honored for his support of the foundation. Earlier this year, Ramsay teamed up with Make-A-Wish to grant wishes for 32 children in just one day.

The famed chef appeared via video message to accept his award, saying that working with the kids "highlight my day, and to change that doom and gloom and give them a time to have some fun, making the most incredible scrambled eggs or cooking a Beef Wellington, literally makes my year."

The gala, held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel, also included performances by Boyz II Men and OneRepublic, with frontman Ryan Tedder getting in on the charitable spirit. After numerous high-profile items had already been auctioned off, including World Series tickets, a set visit to The Flash and vacations to Maui and Jamaica, Tedder offered up a copy of Paul McCartney's latest album Egypt Station, signed by the former Beatle himself. The OneRepublic singer worked as a producer on McCartney's 2018 LP, and sold the album for $3,000 for Make-A-Wish, serving as an amateur auctioneer by taking bids from the audience. Tedder also dedicated his performance of hit I Lived to "all of those hours I spent watching Nickelodeon growing up."

Also in attendance at the 2018 Annual WISH Gala, held at The Beverly Hilton Hotel on Wednesday evening (October 24) in Beverly Hills, Calif. were Cannon's fellow Nick stars, including: Daniella Perkins (Knight Squad), Jack Griffo (The Thundermans), Owen Joyner (Knight Squad), Liza Koshy (Double Dare) and Baby Ariel (Bixler High Private Eye), plus social stars Alex Wassabi, Veronica and Vanessa Merrell, and This Is Us's Parker Bates. You can find red carpet photos from the event here on Just Jared Jr.!

“Big thanks to Make A Wish, Viacom, and Nickelodeon for such an inspiring night,” Jack wrote on Instagram the day after. “I was reminded of the countless young lives affected by cancer and how we have the opportunity to make these wishes come true for these awesome kids through Make A Wish.”

The event raised over $1 million for the Make-A-Wish Foundation, which is celebrating its 35th year. For more information about Make-A-Wish America and to donate, please visit http://wish.org.

'Nicky, Ricky, Dicky & Dawn' Star Aidan Gallagher To Meet Fans At Ocean Heroes Bootcamp In New Orleans On Saturday 2nd June 2018

Youth bootcamp aims to save the world's oceans from plastic pollution

Finding answers to the world's environmental problems will largely fall in the laps of the world's children, and the inaugural Ocean Heroes Bootcamp in New Orleans, Louisiana between Saturday 2nd - Monday 4th June 2018 will give youth ages 11 to 18 a leg up on developing policies to do that.

The bootcamp, aimed at developing campaigns to reduce plastic in the earth's oceans, will give young people across the world a chance to collaborate on proposed policies to decrease plastic pollution in their communities and worldwide, starting with single-use plastic straws. More than 250 people will gather for the bootcamp in New Orleans, while another 750 youth will collaborate with them online during mini events in other countries through Ocean Wise, which is helping young activists from Vancouver, Nairobi, India, and more take part in the conference through live video conferencing.

Youth who attend the event will get to meet Nickelodeon star and Netflix actor Aidan Gallagher (Nicky, Ricky, Dicky & Dawn; Nickelodeon's Kids' Choice Awards; The Umbrella Academy) at 6:30 p.m. Saturday at the Audubon Nature Institute's Swamp Exhibit. Gallagher is the youngest person ever to be named a United Nations Goodwill Ambassador for North America, serving as an environmental advocate for the U.N.'s Environmental Programme: Wild for Life Initiative.

"Our oceans supply up to 70 percent of earth's oxygen," Gallagher said in a prepared statement. "If they die, so does everything and everyone that needs oxygen. Protecting our oceans' health should be our top priority. I believe we can create a generation of like-minded advocates to conserve marine life, and Ocean Heroes Bootcamp is doing just that."

The day ends with a screening of Straws and musical entertainment.

Campers also will watch Smog of the Sea featuring Jack Johnson before entering intensive sessions on Sunday with adult squad leaders and mentors, where they will learn about the science of ecology as well as campaign development tools and will receive coaching and support for their initiatives to create change at the community level and internationally.

Workshops will be led by Marcus Ericksen of the 5 Gyres Institute, an initiative to fight plastic pollution through science, art, education and adventure; representatives from the University of Georgia and the Algalita Marine Research Foundation; Literatti founder Jeff Kirshner; #NoStrawNovember founder Shelby O'Neil; Hannah Testa, a teenage environmentalist and animal rights activist who founded Hannah4Change; and Captain Planet Foundation program development strategist Courtney Kimmel.

Presentations and workshops also will be delivered by environmentalist, producer, director, musician and actor Adrian Grenier (Entourage); writer and producer Henry Pincus (The Art of Getty By, Spin, MTV's Now What?); Danni Washington, host of the STEM educational TV show Xploration Nature Knows Best; Dune Ives, executive director of Lonely Whale, an ocean conservation group; Barbara Hendrie, regional director of the U.N. Environment North America office; and others.

The campaigns the young people create at the bootcamp will be delivered to world leaders at the 2018 G7 Summit June 8-9 in Quebec, Canada. The G7, or Group of Seven, Summit comprises representatives from countries including Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom and the United States, who meet annually to advance policies to tackle challenging global issues.

Monday's activities include a speech by Grenier at the Audubon Aquarium of the Americas and a session about pitching campaigns. On Tuesday 5th June 2018, campers will celebrate World Environment Day at the Carver Theater and a cleanup that starts at Zulu Social Aid and Pleasure Club hall and ends at Bayou St. John. This will be followed by a U.N. Environment-led cleanup in New Orleans. Sign up here.

'Nick Arcade' Host Phil Moore Returns To His Roots For MAGFest

'90s Nickelodeon fans may remember Phil Moore's days hosting the hit Nickelodeon game show Nick Arcade.

What you might not know is that he's a Baltimore native and went to school with WBAL NewsRadio 1090 AM's own C4, going back to Hilton Elementary through Polytechnic. He's back in town this week for the video game convention MAGFest in National Harbor, where muscle memory will guide him as the emcee of MAGFest Versus. He's also set to do some panels and take some questions about his time on Nickelodeon.

Moore, whose family is still around town, popped in to chat with his old friend Tuesday as he talked about how he fell into comedy and the weirdness of complete strangers walking up and saying they grew up with him.

His journey to Nickelodeon Studios began when he was on strike and picketing with his AT&T coworkers in Orlando. He was cracking some jokes with coworkers, which led to him quitting his job and disregarding his engineering degree to try his hand at stand-up.

"I had no plan. Nothing was on the agenda. So you never know when life is never going to make a turn," Moore said.

Nick Arcade pitted two teams of two against each other, guiding the avatar Mikey around a game board. New squares could unlock trivia questions, puzzles, automatic points or, naturally, video game challenges. The games featured included classics such as Sonic the Hedgehog, Battletoads and Gradius 3. Nick Arcade turned out 84 episodes in a run that lasted from January to November 1992, but lived a long afterlife in reruns.

"People have evolved. People have grown. This little show that I did, I literally called it like The Cinderella Show," Moore said. "My show was the show that has absolutely no merchandise you can buy."

Most pictures from the set are blurry, he said, because they never had a photographer either.

After Nickelodeon, he moved behind the camera, writing and producing. He still comes to town every now and then, though, and he's always ready to reach into his so-called "Baltimore drawer."

"I've got my gloves, my hats, I got my scarves, I got my thermal underwears," he joked. "Like 1966 Batman, man, I always come prepared."
