Entertainment news websites and columns are reporting the very exciting TV news that ITV has announced that Nickelodeon UK presenters Anna Williamson (Nick UK's "Camp Orange", "Jamie's & Anna's Big Weekend", "UPick Summer", "N-View") and Perri Kiely ("Jordan & Perri's Ultimate Block Party") will be contestants on the networks upcoming brand-new second series of "Splash!"!

Anna and Perri will be joining singer Una Foden from The Saturdays, rugby star Martin Offiah MBE and "Hollyoaks" star Gemma Merna in next years celebrity-jammed diving contest lineup, which, hosted by Team GB diver Tom Daley ("Nickelodeon's Fruit Shoot Skills Awards 2013"), starts Saturday 4th January at 7.20pm! ITV will confirm which other celebrities will be participating in the 2014 series of "Splash!" in the coming weeks.

"I'm thrilled to be able to tell my Digital Spy family first officially that I'm to take part in the upcoming series of Splash! for ITV," Anna told Digital Spy.

"The training is hardcore but under the watchful eye of coach Tom Daley I'm starting to learn the art of diving. [...] It's so much harder than it looks, trust me, and the heights are petrifying!"

Anna Williamson, who is a ambassador for Mind and a key supporter and children's counsellor at children's helpline ChildLine, also told Digital Spy that her work with mental health Mind and children's charities inspired her to sign up for the show.

"As a ChildLine counsellor I work with young people on facing their fears, and helping them set personal goals," she explained.

"I've decided to practice what I preach and give Splash! a go, tackling my own fear of swimming pools and heights!"

She added: "Hopefully I don't bottle it on the live show!"

Taking to Twitter shortly after announcing her part in Splash! on Saturday 21st December 2013, she said: "Thanks for your lovely comments re @splashITV - training is hard, I have multiple bruises as proof, but enjoying it. Great bunch of peeps."

Anna is currently starring in Cinderella alongside EastEnders star Matt Lapinskas at The Churchill Theatre in Bromley. The panto will be running until 5th January 2014. The celebrity-jammed diving contest begins a day before Anna finishes her run as Cinders, leaving Anna with little time to swap her Cinderella frock for her swimming costume. You can still catch the budding diver on stage. You can book tickets at atgtickets.com/bromley, by calling 0844 8717620 or by visiting the box office. Tickets cost between £15 and £26.50, or £32 for a premium ticket.

editorial image
A LEGEND of Corrie’s cobbled streets is the headline star for this year’s Sunderland Empire panto.

Bosses today revealed the cast for rags-to-riches tale Cinderella.

Loose Women panellist Sherrie Hewson takes the pivotal role as the Fairy Godmother.

The 68-year-old is one of the most respected actresses in the country and has been in the business for more than 40 years.

She began performing at the tender age of four and won an Olivier Award at the age of 15.

Sherrie is best known for her iconic portrayal of Maureen Holdsworth in Coronation Street.

She published her own crime fiction novel The Tannery in 2009, and recently starred as Joyce Temple-Savage in ITV’s hit rated series Benidorm.

A spokesman for the Empire said: “Sherrie is thrilled to be starring in the pantomime and is looking forward to sharing a wonderful Christmas and New Year with everyone in Sunderland.”

The role of Cinderella will be played by Amy Thompson, a familiar face on Channel 5’s Milkshake!

Her theatre credits include Gail in Teachers, Holly in Christmas Crackers, Annie in Wrestling Mad, and Kay in Salt of the Earth.

Unsung hero Buttons will be played by TV presenter Jamie Rickers.

He is the TV face of Nickelodeon in the UK and the eponymous star of Jamie & Anna’s Big Weekend, and summer hit Camp Orange.

He joined Nickelodeon in 2010 after five years hosting CITV’s Toonattik.

The handsome Prince Charming will be played by Owen Thompson, with Bobby Windebank as Dandini, Jamie Morris and Tarot Joseph as the dastardly Ugly Sisters, and the fabulous Shetland Ponies live on stage. Cinderella promises to be a sparkling treat for the whole family and the Empire will be welcoming back Martin Dodd for UK Productions.

As one of the country’s leading producers of musical theatre and pantomime both nationally and internationally, and as the company behind last year’s high-flying pantomime Peter Pan, they promise another high-impact and fun adventure.

Empire press officer Claire Pickersgill said: “We’re delighted Sherrie will be starring in this year’s pantomime.

“Renowned for all of her fantastic TV roles and bubbly and charismatic personality, she’ll make a truly exceptional and enchanting Fairy Godmother.

“And with popular children’s TV stars Jamie and Amy, plus adorable Shetland Ponies, this year’s show is all set to be another fun-filled extravaganza.”

Cinderella runs from Friday, December 13, to Sunday, January 5.

The Northampton Chronicle And Echo Interviews Nickelodeon UK Presenter Anna Williamson

Below is a interview with Nickelodeon UK and Ireland presenter Anna Williamson (Nickelodeon UK's "Camp Orange", "Jamie's & Anna's Big Weekend", "UPick Summer") from the Northampton Chronicle & Echo:
Star Interview: Anna Williamson

Vivacious television presenter Anna Williamson has amassed many strings to her bow over her many years in front of the camera. She is recognisable from her roles on GMTV's Toonattik and Action Stations!, Milkshake! on Channel Five, and roles on Nickelodeon and as an entertainment reporter for GMTV. But lesser known facts about Anna include that she gives up her spare time to man the phone lines at Childline and is a panto veteran, with this year marking a decade since her panto debut. “Panto is such a fantastic experience, because it is quite often the first piece of theatre that children will see and I am a huge advocator of panto as an art form,” says Anna, who is set to take to the stage as Cinderella in this year's pantomime at Milton Keynes Theatre. “It’s my tenth one and genuinely I am so pleased that it is Cinderella. “Playing Cinderella I think is every little girl's dream and that's why I like playing her, because it makes it all worth while when you see a little girl in the audience and they are just completely sold with the story, and that’s why I love live theatre.” And working with kids is something Anna rates with great importance. “I love working with kids and I feel very privileged to have been a children’s presenter for over 10 years now, having worked on most of the children’s networks and continuing to do so. “Children’s audiences are so important and for any television audience it starts with the kids. They are our next generation of adults so I think to be able to inspire and entertain and educate youngsters is a real privilege.” But working on children’s television was not the first entertainment career Anna embarked on. “I actually started out in an all-girl band when I was 16 and through that I had a few opportunities, as you do in bands, to do some TV appearances and children’s TV was a really good vehicle for that to promote bands. “So I went on quite a lot of them and just really enjoyed the whole fun aspect of children’s television. “So when an opportunity came up to do some children’s television presenting I grabbed it with both hands. “I’m really lucky because I have had lots of career highs. I mean breaking entertainment stories as an entertainment journalist, I remember breaking that story that Cheryl Cole had been fired from the X-Factor in America. That was quite exciting because we were the first network to vocalise it on screen. “Another one was last year I was in pantomime in Wimbledon, with the very great Dame Edna Everage, and working and living practically along with Barry/ Dame Edna for a couple of months was terrific. “He’s a complete industry legend and I learned a lot from him, I was completely in awe of the man and I am pleased to say he is a bit like a surrogate granddad.” But when Anna is not entertaining, she still dedicates her time to the younger generation. “My other passion is I am a ChildLine Counsellor. Every week I take to the phones and I try and listen to the young people. “I wanted to join, I am a trained counsellor anyway, but I knew Esther Rantzen very well and I wanted to join her campaign to promote ChildLine, and to be able to get under the skin of ChildLine, and to talk about it knowledgeably, I had to actually be one of their volunteer counsellors. “So I made the decision to do the 12 week training, and six months ago I qualified as a counsellor, and I now counsel over the phone.” Anna will be in Cinderella at Milton Keynes Theatre until Sunday, January 6 for tickets visit: www.atgtickets.com.

REVIEW: Kev Orkian talks Cinderella at MK Theatre
Cinderella at Milton Keynes Theatre: From the left; Deniece Pearson, Louis Spence, Anna Williamson and Kev Orkian
Just when you thought panto couldn’t get any camper, Louie Spence twirled onto the stage and with a shimmy here, there and everywhere he certainly brought the traditional Cinderella into the 21st century this Christmas, writes Amanda Devlin. The big star not only had my belly aching from laughter, but he brought a tear to my eye with his suggestiveness that somehow managed to drift over all the young minds in the audience, who stared wide-eyed at his hilarious portrayal of wedding planner Dandini. Buttons, who was superbly played by comedian Kev Orkian, spoke to me after the show about his love for Milton Keynes theatre and his fellow cast members. Kev said: “It is amazing to come to Milton Keynes and get that kind of reaction. There was quite a pressure on press night and to make the children laugh and have a good time, but it was a really good feeling. “I am really excited about it, it is great to be in MK, it is one of the most brilliant pantos in the country. It is Christmas time, so it’s great to have that energy from the audience. “I have never worked on a production where every individual is incredible. I am so lucky to be a part of it.” Alongside Kev and Louis, Fairy Godmother Deniece Pearson stood out from the crowd as she delivered an incredible performance throughout. She really was a cut above the rest when it came to belting out the high notes and blowing everyone away with her love for singing. So with all these big stars it was inevitable that this year’s MK panto would be a magical evening for all of the family. But what was it like working with self-confessed diva Louis Spence? Kev said: “He is just an energy entity. He is like a firework that has been let off. The energy he brings to the stage is fantastic.” However, quite clearly Kev’s leading lady remains to be Anna Williamson, a former nickelodeon and CITV presenter who looked at home on stage alongside the handsome Prince Charming, Andrew Derbyshire. Kev added: “To top it all off I have my Cinderella, with who I have developed a kind of brother sister relationship with since we met doing panto before. We have been in contact ever since and meet up with our other halves for dinner. “So when reviewers have said that we have that kind of family relationship on stage, they are spot on. We have got that chemistry, so I’m really pleased to be back with her.” Make sure you don’t miss out on taking the whole family to experience a night of glitter and sparkle with a gangnam style introduction and seriously impressive high-kicks from Louis. Cinderella is running at Milton Keynes Theatre until January 6. Cinderella – Malvern Theatre

★★★★ [4 out of 5 Stars]

By Helen and Garry McWilliams

The magic of panto and indeed one of the best fairy tales ever written (in our opinion) was brought to life in Malvern, last night.

With its mixture of past, current and some original music, two live Shetland ponies and ten costume changes a piece for the Ugly Sisters – this was a production of Cinderella that undoubtedly had it all.

The glamorous ‘Fairy Godmother’ was played by the ever popular Ruth Madoc. Fresh out of Calendar Girls and back in pantomime after a three year break , she was a ‘matriarch’ to be treasured and ably raised the roof with the enthusiastic audience members within the first few minutes.

‘Hi-5’ presenter Emma Nowell played the title role with sweet gentility and she has an amazing singing voice. Coupled with Owen Thompson’s ‘Prince Charming’ who by all accounts likes to get down ‘Gangnam Style’(!) they were a leading pair of an extremely high standard.

Comedy was there in abundance from the Ugly Sisters: Gaga (Bobbie Kent) and Gertie (Anthony West) the latter unwittingly chose Garry to be his ‘love interest’ throughout the performance, much to Garry’s delight! We only hope that Gertie’s boyfriends are all as interactive… The programme mentions that they have received the accolade of ‘possibly being the best Ugly Sisters in the business’ – we wouldn’t argue with that. They have wonderful chemistry and any pantomime company would be lucky to have them.

Don Crann also entertained as ‘Baron Hardup’ with a dry and quick wit.

Having watched and appeared in a number of pantomimes between us in the past, this was the first time we had seen ‘Dandini’ portrayed as a comedy character part. It worked brilliantly and Bobby Windebank who took the role is one to watch out for. A special mention must go to the rendition of ‘Me and My Shadow’ with ‘Prince Charming’ and it appears that ‘Dandini’ also goes in for a spot of ‘Gangnam Style’!

The set was impressive, all that we would expect from pantomime scenery with a beautiful coach for Cinderella’s journey to the Ball. Isn’t it amazing what one can do with a pumpkin? Pulling the coach were two white Shetland Ponies who stole the show during their cameo appearance.

We particularly liked the finale song choice of ‘Love is in the Air’, one of the last songs we expected to hear, yet one of the most apt for the story. We feel that the Director, Scott Richie has put together a happy team who have delivered the magical experience that ‘kids’ of all ages appreciate and we would be keen to see his work again in the future.

“Have we missed anybody out? Who? Buttons? No, we mentioned him didn’t we?!” - Jamie Rickers from ‘Nickelodeon’ is the best ‘Button’s that we have ever had the pleasure of watching. He is pure comedy genius and a fantastic all-round entertainer. Need we say more?

Cinderella runs at the Malvern Theatre until Sunday 6th January 2013, for more information or to book tickets please visit the website www.malverntheatres.co.uk. This is a pantomime not to be missed.

Milton Keynes Theatre's 2012 Pantomime Has Something For Everyone, Starring Nickelodeon UK Presenter Anna Williamson As 'Cinderella'

From the Buckingham Advertiser:
Panto has something for everyone

What better way to get into the Christmas spirit than a family night out at the panto?

I would definitely recommend a trip to Milton Keynes Theatre to see their magical Cinderella. You’re guaranteed to have a ball!

Starring an array of TV personalities, the show had something for everyone – clever slapstick, beautiful song and dance numbers, colourful sets, stunning costumes, silly jokes for kids and sly ones for adults.

Anna Williamson from Daybreak and Nickelodeon was a beautiful Cinderella, the flamboyant and energetic Louie Spence from Pineapple Dance Studio was Dandini, ’80s pop star Deniece Pearson from Five Star was a gorgeous Fairy Godmother, but my kids’ favourite of the evening was the hilariously funny, quick-witted comedy star Kev Orkian as Buttons.

Have A Ball At UK's Milton Keynes Theatre's 2012 Pantomime, Starring Nickelodeon UK Presenter Anna Williamson As 'Cinderella'

From Luton Today:
Have a ball with Cinders and Louie

Louie Spence stars with Anna Williamson as Cinderella with Kev Orkian as Buttons and Deniece Pearson as Fairy Godmother in Cinderella at Milton Keynes Theatre

Get ready to have a ball this Christmas as TV personality and dazzling dancer Louie Spence takes to the stage in the classic pantomime Cinderella.

The festive show at Milton Keynes Theatre features more sparkle than you can shake a glitter-ball at, and is set to be a spectacular show for all the family.

Along with Louie’s dancing Dandini, Cinderella features a handsome Prince, enchanting Fairy Godmother, the Ugly Sisters and of course, Buttons.

Louie said: “It’s a real spectacular. The equivalent of anything you’d see in the West End. The costumes, the set, the cast, the choreography – there’s some great dance numbers in it – it’s a great family show. Cinderella is the very best panto that there is.

“In this particular version of Cinderella Dandini has a little bit of a twist on him. He’s just a little bit more over the top looking after the prince! I have a fantastic costume to wear. It’s like pink and sparkly and lots of glitter!”

With a sprinkling of magic from the Fairy Godmother, will Cinderella beat the clock and find the happy ending she deserves? You’ll have to wait until the clock strikes midnight to find out!

Cinderella also stars Five Star's Deniece Pearson, Anna Williamson (CITV and Nickelodeon presenter) as Cinders and comedian Kevin Orkian as Buttons. Running from December 7 until January 6.

Oh Yes It Is – Nearly Pantomime Season At UK's Milton Keynes Theatre, Starring Nickelodeon UK Presenter Anna Williamson As Cinderella

From Biggleswade Today:
Oh yes it is – nearly pantomime season

A penniless drudge is scrubbing away for her stepmother and stepsisters – who happen to be rather lacking in the looks department.

It is, of course, Cinderella and thankfully we all know that her lot in life is about to improve.

This time the future princess’ story is being portrayed as Milton Keynes Theatre’s seasonal pantomime.

Deniece Pearson, who first rose to fame as an 80s pop icon, will step into the role of the Fairy Godmother.

Deniece is a Grammy nominee and lead singer with the pop super-group, Five Star, who had an unprecedented chart run of over 20 top 30 UK singles and were the youngest group ever to win a Brit Award, youngest black British group to have a number one album and the first group to achieve seven consecutive hit singles from one album in the UK.

This success was mirrored not only in Europe but also in the US pop, r&b and dance charts. Deniece also writes and produces for other artists.

She could recently be seen in a show-stopping run in the hit West End in new musical Thriller Live and the stage show Respect La Diva and she has just released her stunning debut solo single, the self-penned ballad Here I Am.

In March she appeared on BBC talent show, The Voice UK, as a contestant joining Tom Jones' team.

Anna Williamson, of Daybreak and Nickelodeon, will play Cinderella while comedy star, Kev Orkian, will be Buttons.

John Barr and Paul Burnham will take the roles of the Ugly Sisters.

Cinderella is showing at Milton Keynes Theatre from Friday, December 7 to Saturday, January 6. Performances are in the afternoon and evening but exact times vary. For the full list of timings call the theatre or visit www.atgtickets.com/shows/cinderella/milton-keynes-theatre

Tickets cost from £12 to £27 plus a booking fee. They are available online or from the box office on 08448 717652.
