Nickelodeon and Share My Lesson to Host 'Teaching Anti-Racism and Social Justice with Rhymes Through Times' Webinar

Noggin, Nickelodeon’s interactive learning service for preschoolers, is partnering with Share My Lesson to host a special virtual conference titled Teaching Anti-Racism and Social Justice with Nickelodeon & Noggin’s Rhymes Through Times.


The hour-long free virtual conference will take place on Tuesday, March 23, 2021 at 2:00PM EDT. The conference is open to anyone interested in learning more about Noggin's brand new three-part Black History musical series, Rhymes Through Times. "Join the team from Noggin and Share My Lesson for an interactive experience where learning experts and creative producers will present exclusive new research on the role that media can play in helping families and educators discuss race and injustice.

The team will share a new Nickelodeon/Noggin series featuring the music of Christopher Jackson (Hamilton) for children ages 2-6+. The series celebrates the challenges and triumphs of Black historical figures and leaders in Dance, Leadership, and Science. Participants will identify actionable ways to tackle tough-to-talk-about topics with the youngest children while exploring strategies to create inclusive classrooms.

Lasette Canady is currently Director of Audience Development at Noggin, Nickelodeon’s direct-to-consumer interactive learning platform for young children. Lasette has served as an Executive Producer/Content Creator with Nickelodeon for over a decade, creating games, animations, and videos designed to help kids learn through play. Lasette is the recipient of a Parents Choice Award for Alpha Beats. She is the Creator and Executive Producer of Noggin’s latest short-form series, Rhymes through Times, which celebrates the challenges and triumphs of Black historical figures and leaders in Dance, Leadership, and Science, featuring music performed by Hamilton’s Christopher Jackson. Lasette received her B.A. in Journalism from Brooklyn College and is the mom to her 6-year-old daughter, Novi.

Julius Harper


Julius Harper is Sr. Director, Development and Production at Noggin. In this role, Julius is responsible for “finding the laughs” and “finding the fun” that help kids learn and retain some of the valuable skills and educational content that Noggin has to offer. Julius is an industry veteran in the kid’s content space, having previously served at major studios like Disney and Netflix. Julius is also an accomplished writer, director and game designer, having developed and produced content for some of the most recognizable IP in the world, from Paw Patrol and Bubble Guppies to Jurassic Park, Marvel and Star Wars. He lives with his wife and five-year-old daughter in Los Angeles, California.

Michael H. Levine, Ph.D.


Michael H. Levine, Ph.D. is Senior Vice President of Learning and Impact for Noggin, Nickelodeon’s direct-to-consumer interactive learning platform for young children. An early learning and social policy expert, Dr. Levine is responsible for deepening Noggin’s value to children and families through dynamic content, partnerships, and interactive experiences developed for learning and impact. Dr. Levine previously spent 12 years at Sesame Workshop where heserved as Chief Knowledge Officer, a member of the senior executive team responsible for driving organization-wide learning, educational partnerships, knowledge exchange, and policy leadership. He is also the Founding Executive Director of the Joan Ganz Cooney Center, a pioneering thought leader in the digital media and learning field. Previously he oversaw innovative grantmaking, strategic communications and program design and scaling strategies for Carnegie Corporation of New York, the New York City Department of Education, the Mayor’s Office and Asia Society. Dr. Levine serves on numerous non-profit and double-bottom line boards including the Cooney Center, JumpStart, We Are Family Foundation and Woot Math. He received his PhD in Social Policy from the Heller School at Brandeis University and his Bachelor’s degree from Cornell University.

Makeda Mays Green


Makeda Mays Green is Vice President, Digital Consumer Insights at Nickelodeon. In this role, she focuses on evaluating the most effective ways to reach target audiences through innovative research methodologies. Previously, she served as the Director of Education & Research, Digital Media at Sesame Workshop (the creators of Sesame Street), where she supported the Workshop’s mission by examining the potential of current and emerging digital media platforms to deliver quality educational material to children and families. Green has delivered several keynote addresses and guest lectured at Harvard University, New York University and Temple University. She is the author of Makeda: Moving Up in Media and has appeared on The Learning Channel, CNN.com, MSNBC.com and Good Morning America Now. Green holds a B.A from Wesleyan University and a M.A. and Ed.M in Psychology from Teachers College, Columbia University. She is also a proud advisory board member of Raising Good Gamers (an initiative developed to create positive change in the culture and climate of online video gaming for youth) and Determined to Educate (a non-profit designed to support underserved youth through mentoring programs). Green resides in Stamford, CT with her husband and three children.

Sabrina Silverstein


Sabrina Silverstein, a National Board Certified Teacher, serves as a Senior Learning and Impact Advisor to Noggin. She has been a professional in the early childhood field for over 25 years, spending 16 years as a pre-k teacher in the Chicago Public Schools. Sabrina developed, implemented, and trained teachers on an early childhood teacher evaluation rubric in Washington, DC. In New York City, as a Director of Early Childhood in the Bronx, she built bilingual programs that focused on learning through play. At Bank Street College, she was the Coach Program Director for a research project which investigated the effects of coaching, professional learning, and a developmentally appropriate research-based math curriculum on preschoolers. As the Executive Director of Teaching and Learning for the Division of Early Childhood at the New York City Department of Education, she developed and implemented Professional Learning for teachers and leaders; a dynamic coaching model; and developmentally appropriate curriculum and assessment systems across the city. Sabrina is now an independent consultant who engages in teaching, coaching, creating curriculum, and acting as a strategic advisor to multiple organizations. She earned a bachelor's degree in child study and psychology and a master's degree in teaching from Tufts University. She is fluent in Spanish and loves to travel!

Brittany Sommer Katzin, Ed.M.


Brittany Sommer Katzin, Ed.M. is Director of Learning and Impact at Noggin, Nickelodeon’s direct-to-consumer interactive learning platform for young children. At Noggin, Brittany leads family engagement efforts and initiatives focused on social and emotional learning. Previously, Brittany was Senior Director of Family Empowerment & Community Partnerships at the NYC Department of Education’s Division of Early Childhood Education. She led the development of culturally relevant family resources and programs and guided community engagement and partnership strategies. Brittany spent 5 years at Sesame Workshop, where she developed content and curricula for TV and digital assets, as well as produced multimedia outreach initiatives, including projects addressing resilience, the needs of military families, children of incarcerated parents, and healthy habits. Brittany has also spent time as an Education and Informal Learning Consultant with organizations such as The New York Hall of Science, Fred Rogers Productions, PBS, Google, and Sesame Workshop. Brittany holds an Ed.M. in Human Development and Psychology from the Harvard Graduate School of Education and a B.A. in Child Development from Tufts University. She currently lives in Brooklyn and is the proud mom of Brooke and Max.

Noggin Debuts New Animated Musical Series 'Rhymes Through Times'

NOGGIN, NICKELODEON'S INTERACTIVE LEARNING SERVICE FOR PRESCHOOLERS, DEBUTS NEW ANIMATED MUSICAL SERIES RHYMES THROUGH TIMES

HISTORICAL SHORT-FORM SERIES FEATURES ORIGINAL MUSIC WRITTEN AND PERFORMED BY AWARD-WINNING ACTOR AND SINGER CHRISTOPHER JACKSON


Noggin, Nickelodeon's interactive learning service for preschoolers, has launched a new historical animated musical series, Rhymes Through Times, featuring original music and lyrics written and performed by award-winning actor/singer/songwriter/composer Christopher Jackson (Hamilton, Moana), and Nick's fan-favorite preschool characters. Available now on Noggin and the Nick Jr. YouTube channel, the three-episode short-form series celebrates the Black experience and showcases the contributions of Black people to American culture, focusing on civil rights and leadership, performing arts, and science.


The first episode of Rhymes Through Times, "Hero," follows Ruby Bridges and Thurgood Marshall, portrayed by the Bubble Guppies' Zooli and Goby, as they take a stand against segregation. Subsequent episodes - "My Best," which celebrates Katherine Johnson (portrayed by Nella) and Guion Stewart Bluford Jr.'s (portrayed by Goby) contributions to space exploration; and "Why We Dance," which sees Nella from Nella the Princess Knight as Katherine Dunham, and AJ from Blaze and the Monster Machines as Alvin Ailey, express themselves through dance - will roll out every week on Noggin and the Nick Jr. YouTube channel. The episodes will also air on the Nick Jr. channel.

Concurrent with the launch of their respective episodes, each of the songs from Rhymes Through Times will be available on over 200+ digital streaming platforms, including Apple Music, Spotify, iTunes, Tidal, Amazon Music, Pandora and more.


Character development, animation and design for Rhymes Through Times are by Lion Forge Animation, LLC (Oscar(R)-winning Hair Love), and Dr. Beverly Daniel Tatum served as educational consultant.

Rhymes Through Times incorporates a social and emotional curriculum, highlighting the value of kindness, perseverance and fairness. Aligning with Noggin's learning approach that aims to help preschoolers build big hearts, strong minds and healthy bodies, the series is the latest addition to Noggin's content slate which includes the recently launched series Noggin Knows, Kinderwood, School of Yum, Word Play and Imagination Trips, among others.


In Noggin, learning is led by the Nickelodeon preschool characters kids know and love, and developed by education and child development experts. The interactive service offers an ever-expanding library of books, learning games, activities, exclusive shorts and 1,000+ ad-free episodes of preschool favorites like PAW Patrol, Peppa Pig and Blue's Clues & You!
