Nickelodeon India Premieres 'The Adventures of Bernie' on Sonic

Nick News Brief: Nickelodeon Sonic in India will premiere the brand new animated series The Adventures of Bernie on Thursday 15th August 2024 at 12:30pm! Based on the hit animated series Zig & Sharko, the slapstick comedy-adventure series follows Bernie the hermit crab, who, after failing to help Zig eat Marina, gets lost at the bottom of the ocean and searches for any plans to return to the island.

Les Aventures de Bernie

The Adventures of Bernie is created by Alexandre Simard, Mathieu Peters-Houg and Lucille Briand and is based on the character created by Olivier Jean-Marie and Claude-William Trébutien. The series (1 x '10 x 30 segments) is directed by Richard Méril and produced by Xilam Animation.

Nickelodeon India Acquires 'Zig & Sharko' Season 4

Nick News Brief: Nickelodeon India has acquired the rights to the fourth season of the iconic non-dialogue slapstick comedy series Zig & Sharko! Produced by Xilam Animation, Zig & Sharko will launch in September 2023, and the company will debut the first episode to buyers at MIPCOM. Xilam has also sold the new instalment to existing partners, VRT (Belgium), Discovery (Italy), DeA (Italy) and Nova (Israel).


Zig & Sharko continues to generate impressive ratings internationally, particularly in India where the series resulted in Nickelodeon becoming the leading children’s channel in its evening slot, across all demos. In Q2 2022, Zig & Sharko was also the fourth best performing series among children aged 2-14 years and outperformed its lead in and lead out shows in all demos in terms of ratings.

On the high seas, the beach or an ocean liner, Zig, a hungry hyena has one thing in mind: dining on Marina, the carefree mermaid. With help from Bernie, a genius hermit-crab, he comes up with the zaniest plans to capture her … but that’s forgetting Sharko, the shark with rippling muscles who will do anything to protect his mermaid honey! The new fourth season will surprise audiences, as they watch Zig, Sharko and Bernie make their way back to their island, accompanied by Marina - who fans will see growing her very own legs thanks to magical sandals.

Nickelodeon India Acquires 'Zig & Sharko' Season 3; Renews Rights for Seasons 1 & 2

Nickelodeon India has acquired the rights to the third season of the popular animated series Zig & Sharko, a French animated slapstick comedy television series that chronicles the conflict between Zig, a hungry brown hyena, and Sharko, a great white shark, who live on a volcanic island, in addition to renewing the rights to the show’s first two seasons! The deal builds on Nick India's long-standing partnership with French animation studio Xilam Animation, and follows the the third seasons' successful debut at MIPCOM 2018.

Update (4/3/2019): Nickelodeon India will premiere Zig & Sharko season three "later this year"!


On the high seas, the beach or an ocean liner, Zig, a island-bound hungry hyena has one thing in mind: dining on Marina, the carefree mermaid. With help from Bernie, a genius hermit-crab, he comes up with the zaniest plans to capture and get to his paws her…but that’s forgetting Marina's devoted pal Sharko, the shark with rippling muscles who will do anything to rescue and protect his mermaid honey!


Zig & Sharko is created and directed by Olivier Jean-Marie and produced by Xilam Animation (Oggy & the Cockroaches). The series made its debut on Canal+ in France on December 21, 2010, followed by its debut on Nickelodeon in India during early 2011. The first two seasons feature 52 x 30' / 156 X 7’ episodes.
