NEW YORK – SEPTEMBER 17, 2025 - Water, Earth, Fire, Air…and cabbages! Global publisher Tilting Point and developer AN Games, under license from Paramount Game Studios, has introduced the beloved Cabbage Merchant Cai to Avatar Legends: Realms Collide. The fan-favorite character joins the award-nominated 4X strategy game inspired by Nickelodeon’s Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra, just months after the game’s successful launch.

The Cabbage Merchant event is now live for a limited time, offering players the chance to unlock unique rewards and experience new activities inspired by the beloved character. During the event, players can obtain the exclusive Great Cabbage Animated Decoration, available only while the event is active, as well as gather Cai Shards to recruit the Cabbage Merchant himself and more. New players can access the event after completing the in-game tutorial, while returning players will automatically receive 10 Cai Shards and an eye-catching Decoration Building item via in-game mail. And no need for fans to worry, following the event, Cai will become a permanent addition to the Hall of Avatars.

To celebrate the iconic character’s arrival in Avatar Legends: Realms Collide, fans were treated to a special livestream with the Cabbage Merchant’s voice actor, James Sie. During the stream, Sie surprised and delighted fans of the franchise by announcing that the beloved Cabbage Merchant, Cai, will soon be joining the game as a playable character. He also revealed that he’s been playing Realms Collide himself, sharing with fans: “When I started playing Realms Collide, I chose Toph…It is fun to be Toph every once in a while.” Audiences can relive the full event for themselves here.

The epic 4X strategy game, set in Nickelodeon’s iconic Avatar Legends universe, features a new storyline developed by Avatar Studios and Tim Hedrick, a writer for both Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra, the game’s story includes Father Glowworm, a pivotal character who was first introduced in the novel The Rise of Kyoshi, as well as new enemies to defeat like Chanyu, Borte and Murong. Nickelodeon and Paramount+ to Bring Dora's 'Magic Mermaid Adventures' Into theaters in September 2025

A package of episodes tapping into fan love for Dora and mermaids will screen at more than 3,000 theaters in 17 countries next month.

Nickelodeon and Paramount+ are rolling out a themed package of Dora episodes internationally to freshen up the 25-year-old franchise with a mermaid throughline, Kidscreen is reporting. 

DORA: Magic Mermaid Adventures is a one-hour collection of four brand-new episodes in which Dora and her monkey pal Boots turn into mermaids to make new underwater friends, plus a birthday-themed one that sees the exploring duo go on a mission to find Dora’s lost birthday cake. It will premiere in more than 3,000 theaters in 17 countries, starting on Thursday, September 18. 

Paramount Pictures will distribute DORA: Magic Mermaid Adventures in markets including the US, the UK, France, Germany, Italy, Australia/New Zealand, Mexico, Brazil and Chile. And Paramount is supporting the theatrical release with related audio and YouTube content. A new podcast called Dora’s Mermaid Adventures (10 episodes) will drop on all major audio entertainment platforms on Monday, September 15. And Nickelodeon is also animating six of the podcast’s episodes for a YouTube release on Wednesday, September 17 (the Dora & Friends YouTube channel has 2.6 million subscribers). 


Dora the Explorer has tried on many alter egos over the years, including ice skater and fairy tale princess. But it’s the mermaid-themed episodes of the series that have always been “among the most popular in the franchise’s 25-year history,” Paramount told Kidscreen. In fact, an ep in which Dora becomes a mermaid is currently the second most popular video on the Dora & Friends YouTube channel, with 56 million views.  

Releasing new Dora content to cinemas rounds out the brand’s franchise footprint, according to Paramount. The 25-year-old IP already has content on streaming, linear TV and YouTube—plus podcasts, music and location-based experiences. So a theatrical release is a logical next step. Releasing the content now is also a good way to hype up the brand’s 25th anniversary this year, and in the US it aligns with the start of Hispanic Heritage Month, Paramount points out.

'DORA: Magic Mermaid Adventures' Logo

The Great Dora Fiesta continues at Nickelodeon Universe at American Dream in New Jersey, with meet and greets with Dora and Boots, along with special activities and screenings of DORA throughout September.

Dora the Explorer premiered on Nickelodeon in 2000, and it has spawned two spinoff series and a 2024 reboot show since. The brand also boasts two feature-length films, including Dora and the Search for Sol Dorado, which was released simultaneously on Nickelodeon and Paramount+ on July 2. Before that, Dora and the Lost City of Gold rolled out theatrically in 2019 and grossed US$120.6 million worldwide against a US$49-million budget.
