Miranda Cosgrove Reveals Plans to Film 'iCarly' Movie During Early 2026

Wake up the members of the iCarly nation, because it's (almost) your time to be — again!

'iCarly (2021)' Season Three Key Art
Paramount+

Miranda Cosgrove has shared an exciting update on the long-rumored iCarly wrap-up movie after the Paramount+ reboot ended on a shocking cliffhanger.

During a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter to promote her new Netflix movie The Wrong Paris, the actor revealed:

"The script is almost finished and it looks like we’re gonna be filming it early next year, so I’m really excited. I think the biggest challenge now is gonna be casting the character that’s gonna be the mom because that’s a character I don’t think any of us ever really thought we were gonna meet within that universe, so we just really want to make sure we get it right."

The first iteration of iCarly aired on Nickelodeon from 2007-2012, starring Cosgrove as Carly Shay as an early internet influencer with a viral web show. Jennette McCurdy played her best friend Sam Puckett, and Nathan Kress played her friend–love interest Freddie Benson, while Jerry Trainor portrayed Carly's older brother-guardian Spencer.

Everyone except for McCurdy (whose memoir I'm Glad My Mom Died explains her retirement from acting) returned for Paramount+'s reboot in 2021, which further explored the romance between Carly and Freddie (#Creddie).

The reboot continued Carly’s storyline ten years later reuniting her with her brother Spencer and her go-to camera Freddie (Nathan Kress). The three look to bring back her popular web show, running into many of the original cast members on the way in addition to some new personalities.

Before the iCarly reboot was canceled in 2023, the third season left fans at the edge of their seats by hinting at the idea of Carly’s mother finally being revealed to the audience. Fans were also eager to see if Carly and Freddie would finally get together.

Among the new cast members were Harper (Laci Mosley) and Freddie’s stepdaughter Millicent (Jaidyn Triplett). The reboot was produced by Nickelodeon Studios and Awesomeness and executive produced by Jay Kogen and Ali Schouten. Cosgrove served as executive producer, with Trainor and Alissa Vradenburg serving as producers.

Carly was basically raised by her older brother after their mother abandoned them when they were younger, and their father (David Chisum) was serving in the Air Force overseas. Their mother has never been seen on the show before, and the finale didn't reveal her onscreen, but Cosgrove reveals that will finally happen in the movie.

Update (9/26): Miranda Cosgrove has confirmed on The Drew Barrymore Show that an iCarly movie is set to be filmed during early 2026!

"I'm excited, we're going to film a movie early next year," Cosgrove told Barrymore. "I'm so excited."

Cosgrove told Barrymore that the movie is meant to pick up where the three-season reboot left off − a massive cliffhanger. The final episode saw Carly and Freddie get engaged, only to be interrupted by her mother, a figure shrouded in mystery throughout the original and reboot shows.

After being canceled by Paramount+, the movie will let the characters come back to finish their story.

During her interview with THR, the actor also spoke about her career, including growing up on Nickelodeon:

THR: I have to also ask about iCarly — having been on that show when you were younger, and then coming back to play that same character as an adult for the reboot, what was the experience like since you kind of grew up with this character?

I will say it was very strange, like the first day when we got there and we saw all the sets built again, but the sets are all a little different, because it’s supposed to be like all this time has passed. So it was a kind of a crazy, almost felt like a social experiment (Laughs). I remember when I walked through the set with Jerry [Trainor] and Nathan [Kress], they were like, “This is so strange,” because it brings back so many things too about your childhood. Like, imagine walking back through the hallways of the high school that you went to and then you’re with all the people you were best friends with at the time walking through it for the first time in 10 years. It was really cool, but it’s definitely kind of strange and crazy and not something that I think everyone gets to experience. It was really fun getting to play that character again as an adult in a new environment and getting to actually have a say in what the character does and the scripts and the cast and all that stuff, that was really exciting.

THR: Having grown up in the industry since you were a child, how did that experience impact the actor you’ve become today?

I definitely feel like I view child acting in a very specific way just because I lived it, and I definitely don’t think that it’s for everyone. Like it was my first time working with a kid as an adult on the iCarly revival, and luckily Jaden, who was in the revival, she loved acting so much and that made me feel good about it. Like she was there because she wanted to be there, but I do feel like a lot of kids that are in acting, their parents are definitely pushing it a lot more than like they actually want it. So having my perspective on child acting has definitely changed over the years and it’s complicated just because of my experiences, but other than that I would just say I feel very comfortable with acting just because I’ve been doing it for so long, so I feel lucky in that sense because I’ve been on set since I was a kid.

THR: Was there ever a point where you thought about leaving the industry or could you even see yourself doing something else career-wise?

When iCarly ended and I went to college, the whole reason I went to college is because I was trying to find something else that I loved as much as acting because I felt like I never really had that opportunity. When people are in regular middle school and high school, a lot of the time they find their passion and they kind of figure out what they want to pursue. So because I had been acting for so long and kind of just working so much and always busy, I didn’t really have that opportunity. So I’m really happy I went to USC because I explored a lot of different avenues and took a lot of different classes and, in the end, I realized that I love acting and it probably is my number one passion.

THR: Since there’s been so much conversation surrouding the early days of Nickelodeon, especially after the Quiet on Set docuseries, what was your experience like with the network since you were on several shows as a child?

It’s always gonna be complicated when a child is doing an adult’s job. I guess it’s not the same hours because you can only work a certain amount of hours [as a child], but it very much feels as a kid like you’re doing just a normal job and I feel like that’s the strangest part for me at least. I got really lucky and I do feel like I had mostly a positive experience. I think my parents have a lot to do with that because when I started out, I was trying to save money for college. And I did really enjoy acting, so there are a lot of things in my favor that I think made it a pretty good experience, but I definitely won’t say everything was always absolutely perfect because I was still a child with a bunch of adults around, like it’s kind of strange to be in that work environment. But I had a lot of other kids with me and I formed really tight friendships with the other kids that I was with, like Nathan and Jennette [McCurdy], getting to be on iCarly with them helped me a lot.

THR: What does your perfect day off of work and filming look like?

I have two older dogs, they’re both 13, and I’ve been trying to take them to do bucket list things, like hopefully they still have a few years left, but I’ve been trying to just do more fun stuff with him. Like I realized one of them had never been to the beach before, so I took him recently. And just hanging out with a couple of my close friends and my dogs and going somewhere fun and relaxing, or even just going to the movies. I really love going to the movies. I go like all the time.

THR: When you look back on your career so far, is there a moment you’re most proud of?

The best experience I’ve ever had in acting is one of my first experiences acting, and I think it’s why I fell in love with it, which was working on School of Rock. I knew at the time that I was having an amazing time and that it was something special, but I think as an adult looking back on that, I realize now more than ever how special it was. I feel really grateful for that whole experience because getting to work with Jack Black, I think that’s why I love comedy as much as I do.

THR: If you had to describe what makes Miranda Cosgrove, Miranda Cosgrove, what would you say?

I definitely try really hard to be a good person. I love animals a lot. That’s like one of my biggest passions. I’m a huge animal advocate and I foster cats and dogs. I actually have like six foster cats right now and I’m always looking for homes for cats. It’s something I kind of fell into maybe four years ago and it’s brought a lot to my life. I’m always getting pictures from people, like updates of different fosters I had, and it makes me feel really good.

‘The Loud House’ Heads to Netflix USA as More Nickelodeon Shows Set to Get New Seasons

Netflix in the U.S. is getting new seasons of already available shows beginning September 1st in addition to The Loud House streaming for the first time.

'The Loud House' Series Coming To Netflix
Picture: Nickelodeon

It’s going to be a busy September 1st for Nickelodeon fans on Netflix in the United States, with multiple shows receiving updates and a new Nickelodeon series set to arrive soon, our friends over at What's on Netflix are reporting.

The Loud House heads to Netflix U.S. for the first time

For the first time in Netflix U.S. history, The Loud House will stream on Netflix. The streamer confirms that “multiple seasons” are on the way, although it’s unclear whether it’ll be a collection of the early seasons or every episode that has been aired on Nickelodeon so far.

The Loud House debuted on Nickelodeon in May 2016 and centers on 11-year-old Lincoln Loud and his ten sisters as he gives an inside look at what it takes to survive the chaos of a huge family.

For Lincoln Loud, surviving life in a house full of sisters means you always have to have a plan! Anyone who’s ever shared four walls and a roof can relate to and laugh at the extreme family dynamics of Lincoln Loud and his sisters.

Ever wonder what it’s like having a big family? Well, in The Loud House, 11-year-old Lincoln Loud gives viewers an inside look at what it takes to survive in the chaos of a huge household, especially as the only boy with 10 sisters - Lori, Leni, Luna, Luan, Lynn, Lucy, Lola, Lana, Lily, and Lisa! The trick to surviving is to remain calm, cool, and collected. But most importantly for Lincoln, you’ve got to have a plan. With all the chaos, and craziness, from frog rescue missions and snowstorms to chaotic family trips, one thing is always for sure: there is never a dull moment in the Loud house.

As one of the longest-running animated series on Nickelodeon with 196 episodes, the property also has been translated into a comic book series, which continues to roll out new stories, chapter books, a digital album, and a podcast, Listen Out Loud, along with companion series The Casagrandes and multiple movies. The series is executive produced by Michael Rubiner. Kyle Marshall serves as co-executive producer, and Ashley Kliment-Baker is the art director. The Loud House is currently in its ninth and tenth seasons on Nickelodeon.

The Loud House arriving on Netflix follows the streaming service exclusively premiering The Loud House Movie in 2021 and The Casagrandes Movie in 2024.

The addition to Netflix will not impact the show’s availability on Paramount+ in the U.S.

Multiple Other Nickelodeon Shows Getting Updates

'iCarly' Cast

New seasons of iCarly are coming to Netflix

In recent years, Netflix has adjusted its show lineup by removing select seasons and making only one or two seasons available. The idea here, at least from Paramount’s point of view, would be to encourage people to switch to Paramount+ to binge-watch the rest. With new owners over at Paramount, another shift is happening, and it looks like this time, we’re getting new seasons rather than having seasons taken away.

What shows are getting updates then? Let’s run through them:

WoN is also reporting that many of these shows’ licenses have been significantly extended, with some, such as Drake & Josh, now staying on Netflix through at least 2027, and many others now licensed through 2030.

Wake up the members of the iCarly nation, because it's (almost) your time to be — again!

Miranda Cosgrove has shared an "exciting" update on the long-rumored iCarly wrap-up movie after the Paramount+ reboot ended on a shocking cliffhanger.

"It's being written, which is really exciting," Cosgrove revealed to Entertainment Weekly. "And it looks like it's happening. I'm really excited."

This is the first time fans have gotten confirmation that the iCarly movie is moving forward. Cosgrove last spoke about it during an appearance on daytime show The Talk in November 2024.

"I'm not allowed to 100 percent confirm anything yet," Cosgrove told the hosts. "But I think the fans of the show are going to be super excited because we have something in the works... We actually ended the revival on a cliffhanger, and we're going to wrap that up."

Apple TV+ to Adapt Jennette McCurdy’s Bestselling Memoir 'I’m Glad My Mom Died' Into TV Series

Apple TV+ lands new series inspired by Jennette McCurdy’s bestselling coming-of-age memoir “I’m Glad My Mom Died,” with Emmy, SAG and Golden Globe Award winner Jennifer Aniston set to star and executive produce

New series written, executive produced and showrun by McCurdy and Ari Katcher

Aniston, Sharon Horgan and Merman, LuckyChap, Jerrod Carmichael and Erica Kay executive produce

'I’m Glad My Mom Died' by Jennette McCurdy book cover

July 2, 2025

Today, Apple TV+ announced it will expand its award-winning original series slate with a new dramedy starring and executive produced by Emmy, SAG and Golden Globe Award winner Jennifer Aniston (“The Morning Show”), and inspired by “I’m Glad My Mom Died,” Jennette McCurdy’s unflinching No. 1 New York Times bestselling memoir of the same name. The 10-episode series is written, executive produced and showrun by McCurdy and Ari Katcher (“Ramy,” “Jerrod Carmichael Reality Show”).

“I’m Glad My Mom Died” is a heartbreaking and hilarious recounting of McCurdy’s struggles as a former child actor while dealing with her overbearing, domineering mother. The dramedy will center on the codependent relationship between an 18-year-old actress in a hit kid’s show, and her narcissistic mother who relishes in her identity as “a starlet’s mother,” set to be played by Aniston.

Hailing from Apple Studios, the project is executive produced by McCurdy and Katcher; Aniston via Echo Films; Sharon Horgan and Stacy Greenberg for Merman (“Bad Sisters,” “Catastrophe,” “Divorce”); Dani Gorin, Tom Ackerley and Josey McNamara for LuckyChap; Jerrod Carmichael (“Ramy,” “Jerrod Carmichael Reality Show”) and Erica Kay (“Fosse/Verdon,” “Pose,” “Dead Ringers”).

The project marks the latest collaboration for Apple TV+ and Aniston, who stars in and executive produces the Emmy, SAG and Critics Choice Award-winning global hit Apple Original series “The Morning Show,” which will debut its highly anticipated fourth season on September 17. Apple TV+ also recently collaborated with Horgan and Merman on the acclaimed comedic drama “Bad Sisters,” which landed top honors at the BAFTAs for Best Drama Series, alongside a Best Supporting Actress win for series star Anne-Marie Duff, following its first season. The first and second seasons of “Bad Sisters” are now streaming globally on Apple TV+.

Published on August 9, 2022 by Simon & Schuster, McCurdy’s memoir “I’m Glad My Mom Died” reached over 80 weeks on the New York Times Best Seller list.

Apple TV+ offers premium, compelling drama and comedy series, feature films, groundbreaking documentaries, and kids and family entertainment, and is available to watch across all of a user’s favorite screens. After its launch on November 1, 2019, Apple TV+ became the first all-original streaming service to launch around the world, and has premiered more original hits and received more award recognitions faster than any other streaming service in its debut. To date, Apple Original films, documentaries and series have earned 578 wins and 2,644 award nominations and counting, including multi-Emmy Award-winning comedy “Ted Lasso” and historic Oscar Best Picture winner “CODA.”

Netflix to Add Freshman Seasons of 'iCarly' and 'Henry Danger', Remove 'House of Anubis' on March 31

Three Nickelodeon shows are getting a bit of a mix-up on Netflix in the U.S. Two fan-favorites are getting an older season re-added, while another show is set to leave entirely.

'Henry Danger' cast

Netflix is slated to be re-adding the first seasons of iCarly and Henry Danger to its programming library in the U.S. on Monday, March 31.

However, with the re-addition of the freshman seasons of these shows, Netflix will still be missing some seasons from both shows.

For Henry Danger, Netflix will stream seasons 1, 4, and 5, while seasons 2 and 3 along with the recently debuted Henry Danger The Movie will only be available on Paramount+ for the foreseeable future.

Update (4/1): Netflix removed on Monday, March 31:

- Henry Danger (seasons 4-5)
- House of Anubis (season 1) [gone from streamer]
- iCarly (seasons 3-5)
- Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2012) (season 2)

'iCarly' cast

iCarly, meanwhile, will still be missing Season 2 on Netflix. That said, it's currently unknown Netflix will keep those later seasons. They were initially scheduled to leave on March 31st, but they’re not currently displaying removal notices. All seasons of the original and recent reboot series are currently available to stream on Paramount+.

Netflix will also sadly be saying goodbye to another hit Nickelodeon series this month, with the first season of House of Anubis (60 episodes of the first season repackaged into 27) set to leave the streaming service on March 31. The streamer added the series in March 2023.

'House of Anubis'

Based on Nickelodeon's hit Belgian-Dutch series Het Huis Anubis, House of Anubis follows a group of students who uncover and solve hidden mysteries at an English boarding school, while dealing with the highs and lows of their teenage years. Season one follows the SIBUNA gang on their search to find their missing classmate Joy. The freshman season of House of Anubis stars Nathalia Ramos as new girl Nina Martin, Brad Kavanagh as Fabian Rutter, Jade Ramsey as Patricia Williamson, Ana Mulvoy Ten as Amber Millington, Bobby Lockwood as Mick Campbell, Tasie Lawrence as Mara Jaffray, Eugene Simon as Jerome Clarke, Alex Sawyer as Alfie Lewis, and Klariza Clayton as Joy Mercer, with Francis Magee as Victor Rodenmaar Jr., Mina Anwar as Anubis House-mother Trudy Rehman, Julia Deakin as Mrs. Daphne Andrews, Paul Antony-Barber as Mr. Eric Sweet, Roger Barclay as Rufus Zeno, Rita Davies as Sarah Frobisher-Smythe, and the legendary Corbierre as himself. The series is created by Hans Bourlon and Gert Verhulst.

Unfortunately, Netflix was the last place you could watch the series, with Paramount+ removing all three seasons in December last year.

House of Anubis may not be the only other significant Nickelodeon departure in 2025. As it currently stands, Bella & The Bulldogs is set for removal on October 31st, along with Abby Hatcher, The Thundermans, and Victorious. Potentially leaving even sooner is Rugrats which is currently set for removal on May 1st.  These are, of course, all up for renewal, meaning that Netflix could opt to renew the rights, assuming that Nickelodeon and its parent company, Paramount, are willing.

Miranda Cosgrove Hints That ‘iCarly’ Movie May Be In the Works, Says New Project Will ‘Wrap Up’ Cliffhangers After Revival’s Cancellation

Miranda Cosgrove discussed a possible iCarly movie on her latest appearance on the daytime show The Talk.

'iCarly' season three

The actor told hosts Akbar Gbajabiamila, Sheryl Underwood and Natalie Morales, “So, I’m not allowed to 100% confirm anything yet but I think the fans of the show are going to be super excited because we have something in the works.”

When Morales further pressed Cosgrove about whether this meant “bringing back old favorites,” Cosgrove replied, “Yes, and we actually ended the revival on a cliffhanger, and we’re going to wrap that up.”

The original Nickelodeon series ran from 2007 to 2012 for six seasons. In 2020, it was rebooted by Paramount+ and ran for an additional three seasons before the show was canceled between 2021-2023.

Jaidyn Triplett as Millicent, Jerry Trainor as Spencer, Miranda Cosgrove as Carly, Nathan Kress as Freddie, Laci Mosley as Harper in 'iCarly' Season 2 on Paramount+.

The reboot continued Carly Shay’s (Cosgrove) storyline ten years later reuniting her with her brother Spencer (Jerry Trainer) and her go-to camera Freddie (Nathan Kress). The three look to bring back her popular web show, running into many of the original cast members on the way in addition to some new personalities.

Before the iCarly reboot was canceled, the third season left fans at the edge of their seats by hinting at the idea of Carly’s mother finally being revealed to the audience.

Both iCarly shows can be streamed in full on Paramount+. Try it FREE at ParamountPlus.com.

Miranda Cosgrove Reveals She's 'Pretty Sure' There's Going to Be 'iCarly' Movie to Wrap Up Series

The Paramount+ iCarly revival was suddenly canceled in October 2023 after the season 3 finale's big cliffhanger

iCarly (2021)

Miranda Cosgrove is still holding out for a proper sendoff for the hit Paramount+ iCarly revival.

Following its season 3 finale that aired in July 2023, which featured a shocking cliffhanger, the streaming service announced the show's cancellation that October.

The final moments almost saw Cosgrove's titular Carly Shay marrying longtime best friend-turned-boyfriend Freddie Benson (Nathan Kress). Even more shocking, Carly and big brother Spencer Shay's (Jerry Trainor) mother — who has never been shown and is rarely mentioned in both the OG series and its successor — appeared, albeit off-screen.

However, Miranda has hinted that there could be a iCarly movie on the horizon to wrap up the series! Speaking to Variety at the New York premiere of her new movie Despicable Me 4 in June, Miranda said: “I’m pretty sure it’s gonna happen. So I’m excited, and I’d love to get to wrap up the story.”

The news follows Miranda Entertainment Tonight in May that she "had a great experience getting to come back and do it for a few seasons, for sure. But I'd love to still be able to wrap up the story in some way," Cosgrove, 30, told

"Maybe, hopefully, someday, we'll still do it," the Mother of the Bride star continued. "I feel like it would probably be more along the lines of maybe a movie, that would kind of wrap it all up or something like that. So that's what I'm hoping for."

There are still some storylines Cosgrove says she wants to see play out, including her character's long-developing romance with Freddie Benson (Nathan Kress) and some unanswered family questions.

Cosgrove added: "I want to know who Carly's mother is as much as [fans do]. It seems like a lot of people were hoping to see that."

At the time of the show's cancellation, star Laci Mosley announced on X (formerly Twitter) that “it’s canceled babes." Paramount+ then released a statement confirming the news.

"iCarly will not be returning for a fourth season on Paramount+," a spokesperson for the streaming platform said in a statement to the press. "The series had a great three-season run and delivered on what fans really wanted to see with Carly and Freddie finally getting together. We want to thank the entire cast, the writers, directors and producers along with the whole crew for their dedication, creativity and talent."

The new iteration came nearly nine years after Nickelodeon's iCarly, which ran from 2007 to 2012 for five seasons. Jaidyn Triplett also starred in the revival series.
