Dutch OTT TV Service NLziet Adds Several Paramount Channels to 'Extra' Plan

Dutch OTT TV service NLziet is adding seven more channels to its 'Extra' top-of-the-range plan. The new channels, available from Tuesday 1st July 2025 and all from the Paramount portfolio, are Nickelodeon, Nick Jr., Nicktoons, Nick Music, Paramount Network, MTV, and Comedy Central.

Met de toevoeging van Paramount Network, MTV Nederland, Comedy Central, Nickelodeon, Nick Jr., Nick Toons en Nick Music wordt NLZIET Extra nog aantrekkelijker voor een breed publiek. Van populaire kinderprogramma’s en Hollywoodfilms, tot muziek en comedy. Nickelodeon voted the coolest channel at the Sunday Times Gen-Next Awards

Only the coolest programming for kids on Nickelodeon channels this spring

Johannesburg 10 September 2021: ViacomCBS Networks Africa Kids' channel, Nickelodeon scooped the Coolest TV Channel award at the 2021 Sunday Times GenNext Awards. The awards were during a live streamed online celebration this week. The industry recognition follows the channel's recent launch of their very first locally produced show NickMusic, hosted by social change-maker Lerai Rakoditsoe, who made history as Nickelodeon's first host for the continent. Lerai was dubbed as 'the coolest kid on the block'.

Kids viewing has never been more entertaining this Spring on ViacomCBS Networks Africa kids' trio channels, Nickelodeon (DStv Channel 305) to NickToons (DStv Channel 308) and Nick Jnr (DStv channel 307). The coolest channels bring the freshest shows and new episodes from the new season of Ricky Zoom, Bop Box Boogie, family-favourite Adventures of Paddington, Side Hustle and the list goes on with a slate of exciting cool content for families to enjoy together this Spring.

In addition to the new shows coming to screens, audiences can look forward to favourite episodes returning this Spring from Blue's Clues & You, Hunter Street, ALVINNN!!! & the Chipmunks and Danger Force.

Five kids accidentally launch abroad a spacecraft meant to intercept a mysterious asteroid in space. With no proper training, parents millions of miles away and a malfunctioning onboard Al, the kids must work together to find their way back home.

Nick Junior DStv Channel 307 - Adventures of Paddington New Season

NickMusic is a dedicated 24-hour music channel for kids, offering a dedicated 24-hour music channel for kids featuring chart-topping hits by the world’s most popular artists. From Ariana Grande, Ed Sheeran, Justin Timberlake and The Weeknd to Sia, Dua Lipa and Taylor Swift, Nick Music is curated by Nickelodeon with a line-up of the latest music videos and Top 40 hits kids will love.

It is currently unknown what feed NickMusic España will use - whether it's own independent feed, the "global" NickMusic feed, or NickMusic USA.

NickMusic will not broadcast any advertising or sponsorships. The channel is already available in the United States, Belgium, Australia, New Zealand, Latin America, Brazil, the Netherlands, Hungary, Poland and Spain, the latter two of which also launched on June 1, also replacing MTV Music 24. A locally produced NickMusic programme also airs on Nicktoons Africa.

In Germany, NickMusic joins Nick, Nick Jr. and Nicktoons.

ViacomCBS denies that the launch of NickMusic will marks the end of the MTV brand. MTV has the highest brand recognition amongst youth (at the level of 98%) and is currently present in 181 countries.

El canal musical MTV Music 24 pasa a llamarse NickMusic

Los canales de música del grupo ViacomCBS están sufriendo cambios de nombres en una nueva apuesta comercial. Como es el caso ahora de MTV Music 24 que cambia de nombre y pasa a llamarse NickMusic.

MTV Music 24, o también conocido como MTV Music, es una canal centrado en la temática musical en donde su programación se centraba en videos musicales actuales y de otras generaciones.

En los últimos tiempos los canales musicales de MTV han ido poco a poco modificando su imagen y su nombre. El actual Club MTV anteriormente se conocía como MTV Dance, también el canal MTV 90’s antes tenía el nombre de MTV Rocks, mientras que MTV 80’s era conocido como VH1 Classic. Y el más reciente con el paso de MTV Music 24 a NickMusic. Cabe señalar que por ahora sigue sin ningún retoque los canales VH1 y MTV Hits.

Sin embargo el canal VH1 Classic ha resuregido en España a través de la plataforma de streaming gratuita Pluto TV.

En la actualidad, todos los canales de MTV en sus diferentes temáticas musicales siguen emitiendo en SD, a excepción de MTV Live HD que lo hace en Alta Definición. Y éste último, por ahora, tampoco se le ha cambiado su nombre.

MTV Music 24 nació en 2013 como un canal en abierto y específico para el Reino Unido con una programación que difería a la de MTV Music que se distribuía por distintas operadoras de televisión de pago, y por lo tanto codificadas.

En el caso del desparecido MTV Music 24 estaba presente en España a través de las plataformas del Grupo Euskaltel, tanto en la propia Euskaltel, en R, Telecable y Virgin telco; además de encontrarse también en los diales de Vodafone TV.

Por otro lado las emisiones de MTV España tanto en SD como en HD no se han visto afectadas por este último movimiento en los canales musicales de ViacomCBS, por lo que la variante española de MTV sigue su emisión con total normalidad a través de los operadores de televisión de pago que ofrecen la cadena.

Con este nuevo movimiento MTV Music 24 nos dice adiós para dar la bienvenida a NickMusic.

Johannesburg, 28 APRIL 2021 – ViacomCBS Networks Africa kids’ channel is set to premiere a local first for African kids’ television. NickMusic will be a fun filled, family-friendly music show playing fan favourites and up and coming tunes that both parents and kids can enjoy together afterschool. The proudly locally produced music show will feature music from African artists and across the world.

Hosted by the multi-talented young social changemaker and Girl Up executive, Lerai Rakoditsoe who is a part of the network's Culture Squad, a team of visionaries, creatives and trendsetters who consistently push the culture forward across the children, youth and entertainment brand. Lerai will make history as the first African face for the channel when NickMusic premieres exclusively on NickToons (DStv Channel 308) from 17 May 2021, every Monday – Friday at 16:25 CAT / 15:25 WAT.

Lerai considers herself an active citizen with a deep passion for African Youth and its culture, and aspires to be a strong female voice in Africa amongst the youth and women empowerment. Born in Bassonia, south of Johannesburg, the 18-year-old is currently an Executive of Girl Up Johannesburg, a club under the global Girl Up leadership development organisation that is hosted at the United Nations Foundation.

As the network continues to partner with trendsetters across all the brands to elevate African talent to even greater heights as well as open up the industry, Nickelodeon is committed to bring a relevant and relatable African rising star to young audiences. The 30 minutes locally produced show will air Monday to Thursday, and feature local and global music tunes from across Africa and the world. We speak to Lerai Rakoditsoe about becoming Nickelodeon’s first African presenter

She is proof that there is no dream too big to become a reality.

When she watched Nickelodeon as a child, she used to picture herself as a presenter on the channel but it felt like a farfetched dream at the time. But she is now making history as the first African presenter on the channel.

Lerai Rakoditsoe will make history as the first African face for the channel when she hosts NickMusic. The show will premier on 17 May.

The 18-year-old from Johannesburg says that she is excited about this new opportunity.

"I loved drama and performing from a very young age. I started modelling at five and started taking drama classes from age 9. Eventually, after training for 6 years and doing local and national drama competitions I wanted to start working professionally even at school I was winning a lot of awards. I started doing a few modelling gigs and presenting. I started presenting last year on Sport Scene#s Culture Conversations where I am also a co-producer," she tells DRUM.

"It is surreal that I get to make history as the first African presenter on Nickelodeon's show NickMusic because the channel is the biggest children's network in the world. I did not see it coming. I grew up watching different shows on the channel and I never expected to be on the channel, it's so amazing to me. I must represent myself and the brand, it is such a huge blessing. I am the first and I am making history. I am so grateful and excited to be a part of Nickelodeon."

Lerai says this opportunity is a stepping stone to greater opportunities to people her age.

"Growing up watching the shows on Nickelodeon I never saw black girls from Africa, the more I saw more black women and women of colour on TV, the easier it was to believe in myself. When they are watching NickMusic I hope they see me as a representation of who they are. I hope to inspire them to be brave and to chase their dreams.

"I am excited and nervous for the airing of the show because it' the whole of Africa. I am confident that the show is going to be great," she says.

"I believe in sticking to your purpose, it's very important to know your purpose. I discovered mine at a young age. I am such a hard worker and I'm so determined it makes me really proud to know that I work with a team of amazing people on the show."

She is more than a pretty face. She is currently an executive of Girl Up Johannesburg, a club under the global Girl Up leadership development organization that is hosted at the United Nations Foundation.

Girl Up engages, trains, and mobilizes girls around the world to take action to achieve global gender equality. Through her involvement in Girl Up Johannesburg, Lerai became involved in the 1000 Girls Campaign, a collaborative project between #BoysForAction, Girl Up Johannesburg and The Unfiltered Youth.

"I aspire to be a strong female voice in Africa who addresses issues amongst the youth, as well as working towards the empowerment of women."

ViacomCBS to Launch NickMusic in Hungary on June 1

ViacomCBS has announced plans to launch NickMusic, Nickelodeon's music channel for kids in Hungary (Magyarország) on Tuesday 1st June 2021! The channel will host the most popular artists among children aged 6-11.

NickMusic is a dedicated 24-hour music channel for kids, offering a dedicated 24-hour music channel for kids featuring chart-topping hits by the world’s most popular artists. From Ariana Grande, Ed Sheeran, Justin Timberlake and The Weeknd to Sia, Dua Lipa and Taylor Swift, Nick Music is curated by Nickelodeon with a line-up of the latest music videos and Top 40 hits kids will love.

It is currently unknown what feed NickMusic Magyarország will use - whether it's own independent feed, the "global" NickMusic feed, or NickMusic USA.

NickMusic will not broadcast any advertising or sponsorships. The channel is already available in the United States, Belgium, Australia, New Zealand, Latin America, Brazil and the Netherlands, among others.

ViacomCBS denies that the launch of NickMusic will marks the end of the MTV brand. MTV has the highest brand recognition amongst youth (at the level of 98%) and is currently present in 181 countries.

ViacomCBS will also launch a Nick Music channel in Poland on the same day. Both channels will replace MTV Music 24 in each territory.

NickMusic zastąpi MTV Music 24 (do marca 2020 roku MTV Music), który w 2017 roku zajął w Polsce miejsce Vivy Polska. 

Pod marką Nickelodeon nadają w Polsce kanały Nickelodeon, Nick Jr i Nicktoons. W portfolio ViacomCBS na polskim rynku są również m.in. Paramount Channel i Comedy Central.

Fetch TV in Australia to Add Nick Music

Nick Music and BBC Kids are joining the Australian platform Fetch TV, as replacements for Cartoon Network and Boomerang, which are leaving the service on April 23rd.

The ViacomCBS-owned NickMusic, which launched in Australia in July 2020, is a dedicated 24-hour music channel for kids, offering a dedicated 24-hour music channel for kids featuring chart-topping hits by the world’s most popular artists. From Ariana Grande and The Weeknd to Sia and Taylor Swift, Nick Music is curated by Nickelodeon with a line-up of the latest music videos and Top 40 hits kids will love.

Nick Music joins Nickelodeon and Nick Jr. in the Fetch Kids Pack, bringing the total ViacomCBS subscription channels on the platform to nine, including Spike, Comedy Central, MTV, MTV Classic, MTV Music and MTV Dance.

BBC Kids, meanwhile, is aimed at 6- to 10-year-olds, and offers comedy, drama, entertainment, natural history and documentaries. The programming roster at launch includes the dance drama The Next Step; football drama Jamie Johnson, featuring cameos by some of the UK’s biggest soccer stars; adaptations of David Walliams’ hilarious best-selling children’s novels Gangsta Granny and Mr Stink; Horrible Histories, the hit show that explores the side of history that they don’t teach you about in school; Deadly 60 on a Mission, with wildlife presenter Steve Backshall coming face-to-face with some of the world’s deadliest animals; and the teen spy drama MI High.

Described as "entertaining, energetic, unpredictable and clever", BBC Kids is making its Australian debut on Fetch, and will sits alongside the BBC’s pre-school channel CBeebies in the Fetch Kids Pack.

Beverley McGarvey, chief content officer and executive vice president (EVP) for ViacomCBS Australia & New Zealand, said: “We know Aussie kids love music, so we wanted to create a safe place for them to be able to watch their favorite artists and listen to chart-topping hits from around the world, curated just for them. Nick Music is a channel kids will love, and parents can trust.”

Tim Christlieb, director of branded services for BBC Studios ANZ, said: “We are delighted to launch this new virtual playlist channel on Fetch that fits perfectly with our preschool channel CBeebies, offering a destination for older kids to enjoy a diverse range of programming all with the hallmark of BBC quality.”

The new channels will be added to the $6 Kids Pack from April 24, as replacements for Cartoon Network and Boomerang, which will become exclusive to Foxtel from April 23rd.

Fetch has been left furious after Foxtel used its programming deal with Warner Bros to secure exclusive Australian rights to Cartoon Network, Boomerang and news channel CNN. Fetch is now taking its complaint to the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC), and is urging subscribers to write to the ACCC.

Today’s announcement brings the number of BBC channels now available on Fetch to 7, with BBC Kids joining BBC First, UKTV, BBC Earth, BBC Brit, BBC World News, and CBeebies on the Fetch service. Fetch also recently added SVOD service BritBox, which is a JV between BBC Studios and ITV.

Sam Hall, chief content and commercial officer at Fetch TV, said: “Fetch TV is excited to be the Australian launch partner for BBC Kids and to further extend our partnership with BBC Studios demonstrating our commitment to offering quality British content.

“Nickelodeon and Nick Jr. are the two top-rating kids’ channels on Fetch. We are delighted to add another great offering from Nickelodeon, and are confident that Nick Music will fill a void in the market.”

ViacomCBS Launches NickMusic in Brazil

Nick News Mini: ViacomCBS Networks Américas has launched NickMusic, Nickelodeon's music channel for kids in Brazil!

NickMusic Brasil reportedly launched on Brazilian telecommunications company TVC on Sunday 18th October 2020. The channel can be found at 20.4.

The news follows ViacomCBS launching NickMusic in Latin America in September 2020.

It's currently unknown whether ViacomCBS is also planning to launch Nick Music on additional operators, such as SKY and Claro.

It's also currently unknown what feed NickMusic Brasil uses - whether it's own independent feed, the "global" NickMusic feed, or NickMusic USA, however, as NickMusic Latinoamérica uses the latter, its more than likely that the Brazilian channel does, too.

The news also comes as ViacomCBS is planning to launch its advertising-supported Video on Demand (AVoD) service Pluto TV in Brazil in December. Among its launch line-up will be serveral Nickelodeon-themed channels, including: Nick Jr. Club, Pluto TV Kids, Nick Clássico and A vida moderna de Rocko. There will also be a channel dedicated to the hit anime series Naruto.

Canal do grupo Nickelodeon surgiu discretamente na grade de uma operadora regional; saiba mais detalhes.

No último domingo, 18 de outubro, o canal NickMusic surgiu discretamente na grade da TVC, provedor regional de internet, telefonia e TV por assinatura.

A inclusão surpreende já que a emissora pertence ao grupo Nickelodeon, da imponente ViacomCBS.

O esperado era que o canal fizesse um lançamento mais alarmante e integrado nas líderes do mercado de TV paga como SKY e Claro net.

Assinantes da TVC HD em São José (SC) já podem conferir a programação da nova emissora pelo número 20.4.

O NickMusic é uma espécie de extensão do Nickelodeon, porém focado na música.

A programação, inclusive, lembra muito a dos canais MTV Hits e VH1 MegaHits por causa da concentração em videoclipes musicais.

No entanto, a exibição é mais direcionada para o público infanto-juvenil, que é parte da estratégia do grupo.
