The Association of Children’s Museums (ACM) and its member museums are pleased to partner with Nickelodeon on the 2026 Our World: Worldwide Day of Play. As a day dedicated to experiencing joyful learning through play, this global event focuses on getting children and their families active!

ACM and Nickelodeon share values of: encouraging children to play; engaging parents in enabling their child's play; creating access to experiences that improve children's health (mental and physical), wellbeing, agency, resilience, and empathy; and creating a world where all children thrive.

ACM looks forward to seeing how your museum will encourage and highlight the ways play can build kids’ agency and confidence.

Limited Funding Available

ACM and Nickelodeon are pleased to help support ACM and Museums for All members in offsetting the costs of hosting an event. A limited amount of funding is available on a first-come/first-serve basis. At this time, all stipends for 2025 have been awarded.

‘Tis the season for pups, play, and plenty of cheer! On Saturday, December 20, Brooklyn Children’s Museum is partnering with Nickelodeon and Paramount+ for a festive and fun PAW Patrol Holidays event. This special day is part of Nickelodeon’s global Our World prosocial initiative and underscores the brand’s longstanding commitment to supporting children’s museums—empowering kids, strengthening community relationships and delivering one-of-a-kind experiences for families.

Families are invited to spend the day at the Museum with their favorite PAW Patrol characters, where they can make art, join a sing-along, and view screenings of the brand-new holiday special, A PAW Patrol Christmas. Especially exciting, young fans will get to take a photo with pups Chase and Skye during a very special meet-and-greet.

Produced by Spin Master Entertainment, A PAW Patrol Christmas features a mix of original and classic holiday songs in a heartwarming story that follows construction-savvy pup Rubble. He is looking forward to Santa bringing him a new Lazer Drill, but things take a turn when Santa comes down with a cold and can’t deliver any presents. When Mayor Humdinger decides he’s going to the North Pole to take all the gifts for himself, it’s up to the PAW Patrol to stop him.

Our World: Worldwide Day of Play 2025

Limited Funding Available

ACM and Nickelodeon are pleased to help support ACM and Museums for All members in offsetting the costs of hosting an event.

A $600 stipend is available for Association of Children’s Museums or Museums for All participating organizations that are hosting a Day of Play event on September 27, 2025. Priority will be given to museums with operating budgets under $1 million USD and those serving/located in underserved communities. A limited amount of funding is available on a first-come/first-serve basis.

All organizations receiving funding will need to sign a Letter of Agreement, provide a W-9, and complete a brief post-event survey on the organization’s participation.

A Great Day in the Stoke (AGDITS)

Taking place on September 27 in Surf City USA, the trailblazing festival is the largest gathering of Black surfers in history, amplifying Black surf talent from around the world and champions a more inclusive future in the water. Nickelodeon will host the new Nickelodeon Kids Zone in celebration of "World Wide Day of Play." Event is open and free for all to attend. [Info]

The Cape Cod Children’s Museum

The Cape Cod Children’s Museum will celebrate Nickelodeon’s Worldwide Day of Play all day on Saturday, September 27. Activities will include a Nickelodeon singalong, Club Kidz with Ms. Lori, crafts, games, slime, bubbles and more. Museum hours on Saturday are from 9 AM to 5 PM; admission is $15 per person. Nickelodeon’s Worldwide Day of Play at La Nube, El Paso

Nickelodeon’s Worldwide Day of Play will take over La Nube and Main Street from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 27, in Downtown El Paso. The free community event, held in partnership with the Association of Children’s Museums, will transform the area into a block party filled with family activities, including character meet-and-greets with SpongeBob SquarePants, PAW Patrol and Gabby’s Dollhouse, hands-on STEAM workshops, local food trucks and community booths. Children can also take part in Nickelodeon’s signature slime experience. Admission to the outdoor festivities is free, while tickets are required for indoor access to La Nube’s STEAM Discovery Center, where advance booking is recommended due to limited availability. Treehouse Children’s Museum, Alexandria, La.

In partnership with Nickelodeon and the Association of Children’s Museums, theis hosting a worldwide day of play event this Saturday, September 27.

“Even though there is a schedule of events throughout the day, there is no need for you to have to stay the whole day,” said Executive Director Christene Proctor. “You can come for a very specific thing or just kind of come and go, but the admission to the museum is actually free that day. It’s a great opportunity for families to be able to come and experience the Treehouse Children’s Museum at no cost.”

Here is a list of the activities for the event:

  • Bounce House all day
  • Obstacle Course at 9:30 a.m.
  • Pete the Cat at 10:30 a.m.
  • Chemistry & Color at 11:00 a.m.
  • Limbo Contest at 12:00 p.m.

The great thing is Nickelodeon partners up with local schools and organizations like the Treehouse Children’s Museum to host this event.

“It’s really important for kids to be able to be active and get out and be able to learn and create things with their hands and be able to use their minds,” Proctor said. “A lot of times, even adults, we get stuck in the scrolling, the doom scrolling, and this is just a great opportunity to kind of have everyone reset and be able to get outside and play.”

Discovery City Children’s Museum, Port Huron, Mi.

Discovery City Children’s Museum at 317 Grand River Ave. in Port Huron is offering reduced admission for a special event Sept. 27.

The museum is participating in Our World: Worldwide Day of Play, part of Nickelodeon’s Our World global initiative, according to a community announcement.

Admission is $5 per visitor from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sept. 27. The St. Clair County Library System’s bookmobile will also be on site.

Registration is required

“We are so excited to share a family-fun ‘Day of Play’ with our community this Saturday,” Dawn Schweihofer, director of Discovery City Children’s Museum, said in the announcement. “Discovery City is filled with opportunities to explore and play, and it’s the perfect time to come spend the day together, whether you’re a first-time friend, or one of our regular smiling faces.”

Michal Herzog Joins Nickelodeon Israel, NATAL to Help Kids Cope with Israel-Iran War

Six children from different parts of the country and diverse communities, including Petah Tikva, Jaffa, Ashdod, and smaller towns, take part in the special program.

Nickelodeon Israel and NATAL, the Israeli Trauma and Resilience Center, have launched a special program for children, featuring Israel’s First Lady Michal Herzog, to help them cope with the horrors of war.

The special is part of the I’ve Got Me campaign, which is aimed at providing children with tools to help them cope with anxiety and stress brought on by the war.

The program is hosted by popular kids’ star Kim Ben Shimon (Full Speed), alongside NATAL therapist Liat Barnea.

For this special, they were joined by the First Lady, who is known for her deep commitment to social causes, particularly those concerning children.

Together, they respond to the difficult questions children are facing right now and offer simple, practical tools to help them deal with fear, anxiety, and uncertainty – all with the goal of strengthening their inner resilience and emotional well-being during these challenging times.

Herzog said, “I believe children need to know that they are not alone. Sometimes, especially when we’re scared, saying it out loud is the first step toward feeling a little safer.

The complicated life of growing up in the complex reality of today's world

It’s not easy being a child – growing up in a complex reality, facing difficult questions, and sometimes even fear.

“Yet, time and again, I am amazed by the strength, wisdom, and joy that lives within our children. In the midst of all the challenges, they continue to remind us what true resilience looks like.”

She added, “I’ve Got Me is much more than just a program. Thanks to the collaboration with NATAL and Nickelodeon, it’s a real opportunity to give children a sense of safety, meaningful tools to cope, and most of all – to show them that we are listening. In moments like these, full of uncertainty and fear, we must remember: It’s okay to be afraid – but you don’t have to face it alone.”

“At Nickelodeon, it’s more important than ever for us to be there for children – especially in these moments,” Orly Atlas-Katz, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Paramount’s Ananey, told The Jerusalem Post.

“Given the complex reality we’re all facing, we felt a responsibility to act quickly. Within just a few days, we produced this special program to give kids a sense of safety, empowerment, and reassurance that they’re not alone. We’re proud to collaborate with NATAL and deeply grateful to the First Lady, Michal Herzog, for taking part in this vital initiative – one that gives children real tools to cope with the fears and emotions brought on by these difficult times. We hope for calmer, brighter days ahead.”

Nickelodeon Universe at Mall of America Visitors May Have Been Exposed to Measles, MDH Warns

A Dakota County child infected with measles visited Nickelodeon Universe at Mall of America in late May, Minnesota state health officials said on Monday, June 2.

The Minnesota Department of Health said anyone at the theme park on Saturday, May 24 between 5 p.m. and 9 p.m. "may have been exposed and should be aware of any symptoms that develop between May 31 and June 14." 

The measles case detected in the child is one of two new measles cases recently confirmed by MDH, the agency announced. 

The other person infected with measles is a Washington County adult who was exposed during domestic air travel outside of Minnesota, MDH said. That individual's vaccination status is unverified. 

The Dakota County child infected with measles is unvaccinated, but had not traveled outside of Minnesota in the last month. How they contracted measles is unknown. 

“Anytime we confirm a case of measles unrelated to travel that has no known source it is worrying,” stated Jessica Hancock-Allen, director of the infectious diseases division at MDH. "This is because it could be a sign that measles is spreading in the community undetected by public health and healthcare systems. It is uncertain where the child was exposed and whether others may have been exposed."

Health officials are urging families to ensure their children are up to date on their immunizations as measles cases are on the rise in the U.S. and globally. 

Minnesota recorded 70 cases of measles in 2024 – the highest number of cases seen since the 2017 outbreak involving unvaccinated children sickened 75. 

Over 730 measles cases nationally are linked to a major, ongoing outbreak in the West Texas. 

Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has called for people to get the measles vaccine, but has also faced criticism for falsely claiming the vaccine hasn't been adequately tested and offers only short-lived protection. 

Children should receive two doses of measles, mumps and rubella (MMR) vaccine—the first at 12 to 15 months of age and the second at 4 to 6 years of age, according to MDH

Two doses of the MMR vaccine are considered 97% effective at preventing measles. 

Understanding measles symptoms and how the illness spreads

Measles spreads easily by coughing, talking or being in the same room with someone who has measles, which can remain infectious in the air for up to two hours

According to Mayo Clinic, measles incubates and spreads throughout the body without signs and symptoms for 10 to 14 days.

Symptoms typically begin with fever, cough, runny nose, inflamed or watery eyes and a sore throat. The relatively mild phase of the illness lasts two-to-three days typically, with rash onset following.

The rash consists of small, slightly-raised red spots and bumps in tight clusters, typically appearing on the face initially.

Measles can be serious or deadly for all age groups, but it's particularly dangerous for children under the age of 5, adults over the age of 20, pregnant women and people with compromised immune systems.

According to the Wisconsin Department of Health Services, around one out of every four people who get measles in the United States require hospitalization.

Health officials confirm new measles cases in Twin Cities metro area

New cases highlight urgent need for continued vaccination and awareness around measles

Two new cases of measles were recently confirmed by the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH). The cases are unrelated and are Minnesota’s third and fourth confirmed measles cases in 2025.

The first case is a Washington County adult whose vaccination status is unverified. The individual was exposed during domestic air travel outside of Minnesota. The second case is an unvaccinated child from Dakota County who has not traveled outside of Minnesota in the last month and had no known exposures. Both individuals are recovering at home.

“Anytime we confirm a case of measles unrelated to travel that has no known source it is worrying,” said Jessica Hancock-Allen, infectious disease division director at MDH. “This is because it could be a sign that measles is spreading in the community undetected by public health and healthcare systems. It is uncertain where the child was exposed and whether others may have been exposed.”

According to disease investigators, the child was infectious while at the theme park inside Mall of America (MOA) on May 24.  Persons who were at the mall on May 24 between 5 p.m. and 9 p.m. may have been exposed and should be aware of any symptoms that develop between May 31 and June 14. Unvaccinated persons, or persons who have not had measles, are most at risk and should watch for symptoms of measles.

MDH is working with local health departments and other Twin Cities locations to contact those who were exposed to either case.

Initial symptoms of measles include a fever, cough, runny nose and watery eyes followed by a rash that typically spreads from the head to the rest of the body. It generally takes eight to 12 days from exposure for someone with measles to develop the first symptoms. The measles rash usually appears two to three days after the fever begins.

If symptoms develop, people should call their health care provider before going to a clinic. Calling first is an important way to ensure that proper care is received without accidentally exposing other people to measles.

The best way to prevent measles is through immunization. Children should receive two doses of measles, mumps and rubella (MMR) vaccine—the first at 12 to 15 months of age and the second at 4 to 6 years of age. For all ages, it is important to talk to your doctor if you are going to be traveling to another country or an area of the United States with a measles outbreak. Children 6 to 12 months old can get an early dose of MMR vaccine if their travels will put them at high risk for measles. Your doctor can check to make sure you and your family are up to date on your immunizations and make sure you do not need any other immunizations.

MDH encourages people to check their immunization records to confirm that they and their children have received the MMR vaccine. Minnesotans can also go to Find My Immunization Record. Most people born before 1957 have had measles disease and are considered immune.

Measles is a highly contagious rash illness and can be a serious disease that can lead to hospitalization and even death. Measles spreads easily by coughing, sneezing or even being in the same room with someone who has measles. The virus can remain in the air for up to two hours after an infected person leaves an area.

“Measles spreads easily, and it finds those who are vulnerable,” Hancock-Allen added. “We are seeing increased measles cases throughout the U.S. and internationally this year. The time is now for families to make sure their children are up to date on their immunizations to protect them from this potentially serious disease.”

New York, NY (April 30, 2025) – The Food Allergy Fund (FAF) is launching an engaging new Public Service Announcement (PSA) to empower kids and raise awareness about food allergies during Food Allergy Awareness Month this May. The PSA will debut across Nickelodeon’s platforms from May 1-31, and features Emmy Award-winning culinary social media sensation Tiny Chef (The Tiny Chef Show, produced by Imagine Entertainment and Nickelodeon Animation) alongside content creator Merrick Hanna (Lip Sync Battle Shorties), who has food allergies. This fast-growing disease affects 1 in 13 children and 1 in 10 adults in the U.S.

“As founder and CEO of FAF, and a food allergy parent, I’m grateful to Nickelodeon for their creativity and support in spotlighting this growing public health crisis,” said Ilana Golant. “Food allergies affect 10 percent of Americans, and every three minutes, someone visits the ER due to an allergic reaction. ASIFA-Hollywood & Sotheby’s Launch 'The Art of Animation' Auction for AnimAID

Last month, ASIFA-Hollywood, in collaboration with animation industry artists, professionals and studios, announced the launch of AnimAID, a fundraising campaign to support those impacted by the devastating Los Angeles wildfires. The initiative aims to provide critical funds to artists and professionals working within the animation industry, many of whom have lost their homes or faced major displacement due to the crisis.

The campaign kicked off at the 2025 ASIFA-Hollywood 52nd Annual Annie Awards. Now, AnimAID will begin its next chapter, culminating in an online auction in partnership with Sotheby’s, set to take place April 23-30, 2025. The auction will feature a treasure trove of rare and one-of-a-kind pieces of animation history tied to some of the most beloved films and television classics, including SpongeBob SquarePants, Avatar: The Last AirbenderSnow White and the Seven Dwarfs, The Simpsons, Inside Out, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, The Wild Robot, Beauty and the Beast, and more. The lots will include original drawings, paintings, animation cels, signed posters, maquette figures and unique experiences — all donated by leading studios including Nickelodeon, Paramount, The Walt Disney Company, Warner Bros., DreamWorks Animation, and Sony Pictures Animation, among others — who, inspired by this remarkable cause, have come together to curate an exceptional selection of prized artworks and exclusive experiences from the world of animation.

Highlights of the exhibition will span 90 years of animation history, including a black-and-white story sketch from Tortoise and the Hare (1935) alongside a color pencil drawing of Woody and Buzz Lightyear (2025), created specifically to benefit AnimAID, commemorating the 30th anniversary of Disney and Pixar’s Toy Story release.

“AnimAID is a powerful reminder of the unity and compassion that define our animation community,” said Aubry Mintz, AnimAID & ASIFA-Hollywood Executive Director. “As we face the devastating aftermath of the wildfires, this initiative allows us to come together not only to provide essential relief, but also to honor the artists and professionals who have given so much to the world of animation. Many of these rare, original pieces have never been seen by the public. They were displayed at Sotheby’s New York galleries from April 11–15, with the auction opening for bidding online from April 23–30. Proceeds will directly benefit over 70 animation families who have been affected by the disaster. Offering a glimpse into the creative process behind some of the most beloved films and television shows, highlights of the auction cover many eras, techniques and aesthetics from the world of animation. All items will be offered with no reserve, with estimates ranging from $500 to over $25,000.

Anticipated top lots include the original drawing of Toy Story stars Woody and Buzz by John Lasseter, and a Mickey Mouse animation cel from the 1988 television special Here’s to You, Mickey Mouse!

Each of the 3D-printed Pinocchio faces featured in this piece was directly used in the creation of the Academy Award-winning Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio (2022). The animation team meticulously stored each replacement face in humble pizza boxes, ensuring they were delivered to the right stage for specific scenes. As part of the Pinocchio exhibit at the Museum of Modern Art, several of these boxes — complete with their iconic Pinocchio faces — were encased in sleek acrylic displays, preserving a behind-the-scenes glimpse into the magic of stop-motion animation.

Storyboards were actually invented by animators. Highlights from this collection include a storyboard from Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, Pixar’s Academy Award-winning Brave, Nickelodeon's Dora the Explorer spinoff Go, Diego, Go!, and panels from directors Chris Williams (Disney’s Frozen) and Chris Sanders (DreamWorks Animation’s The Wild Robot). Also featured are storyboard drawings from Disney legends Burny Mattinson and Lorna Cook for The Lion King (1994). Additionally, signed storyboards from Avatar: The Last Airbender capture a key moment of Katara mastering her waterbending skills, drawn by director Lauren Montgomery and signed by creators Bryan Konietzko and Mike DiMartino.

Maquettes, small sculptures of animated characters, have been used since the early days for both stop-motion and traditional animation. A captivating example is the Original Norman Maquette from comedy-horror film ParaNorman. An extraordinary piece that seamlessly bridges the gap between initial character design and the final puppet. Maquettes are more than just models; they serve as essential reference points for both character and design, providing a rare, tactile preview of what the character will ultimately look and feel like. This particular maquette, meticulously hand-sculpted by one of the greatest character designers Kent Melton and donated by the LAIKA Archives, offers a glimpse into the artistry behind one of stop-motion’s most iconic characters.

This original character design of Emily from Corpse Bride, co-created by Tim Burton and character designer Carlos Grangel, provides an intimate look into the development of one of the most unforgettable characters in animated cinema. Corpse Bride is the first stop-motion feature film directed by Burton after previously producing The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993) and James and the Giant Peach (1996). Emily was voiced by Helena Bonham Carter.

An original animation cel from the iconic SpongeBob SquarePants episode “Nature Pants” captures one of the most viral moments from the show. Depicting SpongeBob, exhausted, out of breath and pantless, after being chased by his best friend Patrick through the treacherous Jellyfish Fields, this cel perfectly encapsulates the humor and lighthearted fun of Stephen Hillenburg’s magnificent underwater universe.

These large LEGO figurines, modeled after the filmmakers of The LEGO Movie, were crafted by the studio and presented as a gift to Dan Lin, Phil Lord and Chris Miller following the film’s release.
