'Friends' No Longer Leaving Nick@Nite In September 2025

Could Nick@Nite be about to lose one of its longest-running shows?

Friends

Update (9/7) - It appears that Nickelodeon/Paramount renewed the rights to Friends at the very, very last minute, with the series back on the Nick@Nite schedules full time.

TBS, which shares broadcast TV rights with Nick@Nite, was planning to air the show at 11:00 p.m. starting Monday, but they have now reversed their schedule as well.

Leading up to the show's removal, Nick@Nite removed the show's official page and image from NickAtNite.com on Friday, August 29, however, on Friday, September 5, the block put the show back on the schedules for an additional three days.

Original post:

It seems like Nick@Nite is about to undergo a bit of a shakeup, with the hit sitcom Friends set to leave Nickelodeon's evening programming block in September 2025.

Friends, which debuted in 1994, follows the lives and loves of a close-knit group of friends while they navigate their way through their twenties living in New York City: siblings Ross (David Schwimmer) and Monica Geller (Courteney Cox), along with friends Chandler Bing (Matthew Perry), Phoebe Buffay (Lisa Kudrow), Joey Tribbiani (Matt LeBlanc) and Rachel Green (Jennifer Aniston).

Friends was created by David Crane and Marta Kauffman, who executive produced the series with Kevin Bright through Bright/Kauffman/Crane Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television.

Nick at Nite added Friends to its line-up during Fall 2011, where the series has become a staple over the past 14 years, routinely pulling in stellar ratings.

However, this is about to change, as, according to currently published schedules, Friends is set to leave Nick@Nite on Wednesday, September 3 - 14 years to the day Nick@Nite started to air the sitcom - with the last scheduled episode, season three's "The One at the Beach," airing at 11:30 p.m. (ET/PT).

Following this episode, Nickelodeon will be shaking up the schedule, with SpongeBob SquarePants airing in Friends' former 8:00 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. (ET/PT) timeslots, along with replays of The Big Bang Theory and The Neighborhood in other timeslots the series formally inhabited.
