The Moon, Narnia And Bikini Bottom: Children Choose Their Dream Holiday Destinations

From the travel section of Mail Online, the official website of the daily British newspaper Daily Mail:
The Moon, Narnia and Bikini Bottom: Children choose their dream holiday destinations

When it comes to top holiday destinations, it seems children have sky-high hopes, with the Moon topping their list of places they would most like to visit.

When asked where they really wanted to travel to, the majority of children named the moon as their ideal holiday, closely followed by the more manageable Disney World and the rather more tricky fantasy world of Narnia.

The findings were based on a survey of British children aged between three and eight by holiday website sunshine.co.uk and saw both real and imaginary destinations make it into their top 10 dream holidays.

Fly me to the moon: Children would most like to holiday on the moon

Close behind the CS Lewis world of Narnia came JK Rowling's Hogsmeade, the fictional town in the Harry Potter books.

Luckily for wannabe wizards, both Hogsmeade and Harry's school Hogwarts - which came in seventh place in the list - have been brought to life at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, in Florida.

Thoughts also turned to Father Christmas and his reindeer, with Lapland making it into fifth place children would most like to visit - a holiday that parents can deliver on.

But Hundred Acre Wood, home to AA Milne's Winnie-the-Pooh, Piglet and Eeyore, could me more difficult to visit.

As could the eighth most popular dream holiday destination - Pride Rock, the fictional kingdom Mustafa and Simba ruled in The Lion King.

Bikini Bottom: Children are also inspired by TV series such as Spongebob Squarepants

And while the ninth hotspot is Australia - perhaps due to its starring role in Finding Nemo, or just due to its famed beaches and adventure holidays - the tenth destination is a watery one.

Bikini Bottom, the fictional underwater world of Nickelodeon's Spongebob Squarepants, just creeps into the top 10 as an ideal holiday destination.

Sunshine.co.uk co-founder Chris Brown said: 'Having four kids of my own, I know that mine would pick Disney over any destination, but it's incredibly cute to see that so many selected fictional destinations and the Moon.'

The top 10 places for holidays were:

1. The Moon
2. Disney World
3. Narnia
4. Hogsmeade
5. Lapland
6. Hundred Acre Wood
7. Hogwarts
8. Pride Rock
9. Australia
10. Bikini Bottom

Nickelodeon Unveils Two Brand New Shows And Orders Pilot For Third New Show For 2012

From C21Media:
Nick drops Rock on iTunes

US cablenet Nickelodeon will launch its new live-action musical series How to Rock on Apple iTunes, and has unveiled new programming for this year.

High school comedy How to Rock will launch on iTunes and Nick.com this month before the show premieres on television next month with back-to-back episodes on February 4.

The show’s theme song, performed by the series’ star, Cymphonique Miller, is already available for download on the Apple online store. Further content and promotional videos, including a doc called Cymphonique: Ready to Rock, will launch on Nick’s website, online sites, iTunes and Facebook before the television TX.

It’s the first time Nick has premiered a show online before its television bow – a clear sign the Viacom-owned kidsco’s top brass sees digital distribution as increasingly key to its future.

Nick produces How to Rock in association with Alloy Entertainment, which acquired US digital production and talent studio Generate earlier this month.

In further news, Nick has given the go-ahead to a 21×11’ season of new shortform live-action comedy Fred: The Show, which features YouTube star Lucas Cruikshank.

The show will follow the comic adventures of Cruikshank’s Fred Figglehorn character, a six year-old boy with anger issues. It follows on from previous Nick telemovies Fred: The Movie and Fred: Night of the Living Fred.

Production has begun in LA and the series will premiere early this year. Cruikshank exec produces, along with Gary Binkow and Evan Weiss of Beverley Hills-based talent and production house The Collective, plus Brian Robbins and Sharla Sumpter Bridgett of Varsity Pictures.

Cruikshank and The Collective are also attached to another new Nick commission, half-hour comedy pilot Marvin [Marvin, Marvin]. The programme comes from Jon Ross (10 Things I Hate About You) and has show-runner Jeff Bushell (Beverley Hills Chihuahua), Binkow and Weiss attached as exec producers.

The multi-camera pilot will star Cruikshank as a “quirky” intergalactic school kid who tries to adapt to his new life as a human teenager.

Big Time Movie will premiere Saturday, March 10, as Kendall (Kendall Schmidt), James (James Maslow), Carlos (Carlos Pena Jr.) and Logan (Logan Henderson) head to London for their first big world tour but instead get mixed up in a mission to save the world. With their bags switched at the airport, they inadvertently gain possession of a fearsome device that, in the wrong hands, could destroy the world. "The cool gadgets, outdoor locations and big stunts give this film a truly cinematic feel and transport Big Time Rush into a larger than life environment," said Marjorie Cohn, President, Original Programming and Development, Nickelodeon. "It's a Nickelodeon take on James Bond meets Austin Powers, featuring covers of classic Beatles songs that both kids and their parents can enjoy."

In Big Time Movie, the guys must tap their inner spy as their adventure finds them driving exotic cars and jumping out of helicopters, while trying to make it to their first world tour concert on time. Hot on their trail are evil henchmen named Maxwell, British secret agents and Swedish spies as well as billionaire businessman, Sir Atticus Moon who wants back his precious device code named: "The Beetle," an anti-gravitational device with enormous power. Once they learn they're carrying this precious cargo, the guys get pulled into a madcap mission throughout London, which threatens the onset of their world tour. With the help of teen spy Penny Lane, the guys set out to save Penny's father M16 Agent Simon Lane and stop Sir Atticus Moon's plot to use "The Beetle" to gain world domination.

Elevate, Big Time Rush's second album released by Columbia Records/Nickelodeon on Nov. 21, is the highly anticipated follow-up to the group's blockbuster debut, 2010's gold-certified BTR, which has scanned over 700,000 albums. To date, Big Time Rush has sold over 3 million combined digital tracks. The album takes the group's distinctive sound to new heights and includes songs produced by top music hit makers Ryan Tedder, Tricky & The Dream, JR Rotem, and Toby Gad, among others. Elevate features tracks including "Music Sounds Better With U (featuring Mann)," "Show Me," and "All Over Again," plus brand-new music that will debut on upcoming episodes of Big Time Rush.

Now in its second season, Big Time Rush – which follows four best friends from Minnesota who trade in their hockey sticks for music superstardom in Los Angeles – averages 3.6 million total viewers (+2%, over season one).

An international hit, Big Time Rush ranks within the top 5 shows on Nickelodeon among key demos in key markets, including Germany, Spain, Italy, Australia, Poland, Mexico and Holland. Last year, Big Time Rush embarked on a cross-country 30-city summer tour, selling out venues across the U.S. and opened up for Justin Bieber in Mexico for two sold-out stadium shows.
