Kristen Bell Joins ‘Sonic the Hedgehog 4’ Voice Cast as Amy Rose

Kristen Bell will join the voice cast Sonic the Hedgehog 4 as Amy Rose, the pink creature with a major crush on the titular blue speedster.

Ben Schwartz, who provides the voice of Sonic in Paramount’s live-action/ CGI hybrid film series, shared the casting news on social media with the caption, “WE HAVE OUR AMY ROSE!!! And I could not be more excited!!! Please welcome the incredible @kristenanniebell to the @sonicmovie family!!!”

Bell is prolific in the voice acting arena, having supplied the pipes for Anna in Disney’s wildly popular Frozen franchise. She also voiced a sloth in Disney’s Zootopia 2 and narrated the hit CW television show Gossip Girl. Bell, who broke out in the 2004 teen drama Veronica Mars, also starred in The Good Place and currently stars in the Netflix series Nobody Wants This.

Plot details for the fourth film are under wraps. Metal Sonic, an intelligence robot with a dark side who appeared with Amy Rose appeared in the mid-credits scene of Sonic the Hedgehog 3, will also appear in the upcoming action-adventure, though a voice actor hasn’t been revealed. In prior Sonic entries, Idris Elba and Colleen O’Shaughnessey voiced the speed demon’s anthropomorphic pals Knuckles and Tails, and Keanu Reeves is behind the mysterious Shadow. Meanwhile in human form, Jim Carrey has portrayed the hedgehog’s main antagonist Dr. Robotnik and James Marsden and Tika Sumpter play Sonic’s adopted parental figures.

Jeff Fowler has directed all three Sonic films, which have collectively grossed $1 billion at the global box office. He’s returning for the fourth installment, set for theatrical release in March 2027.

Update (3/3): Director Jeff Fowler took to social media on Monday (March 2) to announce that Sonic the Hedgehog 4 has begun production. The post includes an image of the filmmaker appearing to wield the hammer that is associated with the franchise’s pink hedgehog Amy Rose, which follows the announcement last month that Kristen Bell is set to voice the role.

“Ready 4 Action,” Fowler, who helmed the first three movies, captioned his post. “#SonicMovie4 now filming.”

Paramount Unveils Sweeping Vision for Warner Bros. Discovery Following Acquisition

Paramount Skydance Corporation today (March 2, 2026) unveiled more details about its planned merger with Warner Bros. Discovery during an investor call.

During the call with investors, Paramount revealed that:

• HBO Max & Paramount+ will be combined into one service;

• 15 films per studio with 45 day theatrical windows for each film;

• Merged company will have approximately $79 billion in debt;

• $6 billion in cost cutting including consolidating on tech infrastructure, real estate, corporate overheads & more;

• No plans to sell off/spinoff any of their cable assets, such as Nickelodeon — flexibility to put sports like UFC on any cable network;

• Will continue to licence movies & TV shows to other studios and platforms;

• AI will be a “tool for artists” but “never a replacement” for storytellers.
