August 20, 2026 - After decades of dragons, magic, and side-scrolling heroics, Golden Axe is making the leap from arcade classic to animated series when all ten episodes premiere Wednesday, September 16 exclusively on Paramount+.
In a hilarious homage to SEGA's iconic 1989 video game, Golden Axe follows legendary warriors Ax Battler, Tyris Flare and Gilius Thunderhead as they reunite to save Yuria from the evil giant Death Adder, who just won't seem to stay dead. Their quest is complicated by Hampton Squib, an inexperienced and wildly underprepared adventurer whose dream of heroism far exceeds his abilities. Forced to work together despite their flaws, they must find a way to stop Death Adder once and for all.
The star-studded voice cast includes: Emmy® award winner Matthew Rhys as Gilius Thunderhead, a grumpy battle dwarf with exceptionally poor hygiene and a chip on his shoulder; Danny Pudi as Hampton Squib, a naive, inexperienced first time adventurer who has dreamt of questing his entire life; Lisa Gilroy as Tyris Flare, a fearsome battle sorceress, deadly in a fight and even deadlier with her sharp wit; Liam McIntyre as Ax Battler, a barbarian warrior with a strict code of honor and sweet golden retriever demeanor; Carl Tart as Chronos "Evil" Lait, an uncomfortably cheesy humanoid panther.
Golden Axe is produced by CBS' Eye Animation Productions, CBS Studios' animation arm; Sony Pictures Television; and Original Film. Mike McMahan and Joe Chandler co-wrote the first episode and co-created and executive produce the series, with Chandler serving as showrunner. Netflix has announced that it will premiere Avatar: The Last Airbender season three, the third and final season of the streaming service's hit live-action reimagining of the beloved Nickelodeon animated series, in 2027! To celebrate, the streamer unveiled a first look still from the new season, featuring Daniel Dae Kim as Fire Lord Ozai in an imposing stance ahead of key events such as Aang mastering firebending and the arrival of Sozin’s Comet.

It is the time of Harmonic Convergence. The planets have aligned, and a surge of spiritual energy from the Spirit Portals creates a Harmonic Rift—a celestial tear that has pulled heroes and villains across the world and time into an alternate spiritual reality. In this Harmonic Rift memories are changed, friends become enemies, and the conflicts are creating an imbalance that could end reality as it is known. Story Mode in Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game takes place in an alternate reality where characters from multiple eras of the Avatar franchise meet and have different roles and relationships. Alliances have shifted, and some characters play unexpected parts or have very different personalities compared to their original incarnations. Make sure to complete all chapters of Story Mode to reveal the nature of this new world.
