Work Set to Start on Paramount Theme Park Development in Bali
Work is set to start on Bali’s highly-anticipated Paramount theme park, with the major development representing the largest of its kind for the Indonesian tourist destination

Bali officials have confirmed that work on a highly-anticipated Paramount theme park and resort development will begin this August, with new details revealed about the upcoming major addition to the Indonesian tourist destination.
In the pipeline for a number of years, Taman Kerti Bali Semesta (TKBS) will be the largest of its kind in the province and will be located in the westernmost part of the island in Jembrana Regency.
Jembrana Regency is the westernmost regency in Bali, spanning from Gilimanuk Harbor, which connects Bali to East Java, through to Tabanan Regency in the heart of the island.
The Regent of Jembrana, I Nengah Tamba, has revealed that the theme park will be named Taman Kerti Bali Semesta (TKBS), which in English translates to mean Universal Park & Gardens Bali.
The theme park will be built over 600 hectares of land (570,000sq m/6.1 million sq ft) which is owned but the Bali Regional Company. Regent Tamba has said he is excited about the impact the park will have on tourism in the little-visited region of Jembrana.
“With funds of IDR14tn (US$923m, €842m, GBP£726m) this theme park is expected to boost the tourism sector in Jembrana,” said I Nengah Tamba, Regent of Jembrana. “So we really hope that everything goes according to plan.”
Details over what will actually be included in the park are scarce other than Paramount IPs, after an agreement was signed in 2022 to finalise the project. In addition to Paramount’s own IPs, it also holds the rights to characters from Nickelodeon, opening up the possibility of characters such as SpongeBob SquarePants, Dora the Explorer and the PAW Patrol featuring.
Interestingly, despite being a Paramount Pictures park, the new theme park is being referred to locally as “Disneylandnya.’
According to reports, an area of the park will be dedicated to honouring some of Indonesia's culture, myths, and legends. Called the 'Land of Legends', it will feature the first Indonesian-inspired ride in an international theme park.
Indonesian tourism developer PT Kios Ria Kerasi is behind the park, which will come complete with golf courses and two hotels themed on Paramount and Nickelodeon when it opens in 2025.
The project is being led by PT Kios Ria Kerasi, an Indonesian technology, tourism, and entertainment company.
The company signed an agreement with Paramount Pictures in Los Angeles last year to give the final go-ahead for the project.
When the agreement was signed in LA, the managing director of Kios Ria Kreasi, Ade Sulistioputra, said that the theme park would be a fun day out for visitors of all ages, not just for young children.
Sulistioputra revealed, “We will tap into a library of over 1,000 films and use brands and characters that will appeal to people of all ages.”
Adding “other attractions may draw on Nickelodeon’s characters such as SpongeBob SquarePants, Dora the Explorer, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.”
It is clear that Universal Park & Gardens Bali will be the biggest, flashiest theme park in Bali, but it will be a little while longer before tourists can add a visit to their travel itineraries.
