"Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" Co-Creator Kevin Eastman Talks About The Production Delay In Making Nickelodeon Movies' Upcoming Brand New "Ninja Turtles" Movie; To Be An 30th Anniversary Movie

From Sleek Gossip:
TMNT – they're back!

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reincarnation has had its fair share of criticism from comic-book fans worldwide ever since Michael Bay announced his production company were tweaking the origin story to recast the turtles as alien beings. What a shocker! And as if that wasn't enough, the film was then pushed back to 2014! This was amid reports that significant rewrites were to be performed on the script.

However, creator Kevin Eastman has now given fans alike an update on the project claiming that a slapdash script was not the reason behind the delay. “Essentially they pushed it back for two reasons,” says Eastman.

“One is the director, Jonathan Liebesman, who wanted to make sure he could do the effects to the level he wants them at, and the fight scenes to the way they should be. Also, their release date is almost exactly on the 30th anniversary,” he continues. “5 May 1984 is when the first Turtles comic came out. 16 May, 2014, is almost exactly 30 years after. So basically it's an anniversary movie now.”

What about the script I hear you say? Apparently it is developing at a fast pace. “I talked to Scott Mednick yesterday and he’s seen the most recent 50 pages and said it's as good as the last version. They’ve really knocked it out of the park.” We can’t wait to see what they have in store!
