Keep a lookout for the Secret Word of the day!

Pee-wee's Playhouse

Created by the late, great Paul Reubens, Pee-wee's Playhouse is an American comedy children's television series starring Reubens as the childlike Pee-wee Herman that ran from 1986 to 1990 on Saturday mornings on CBS. In each episode, Pee-wee Herman invites viewers into his quirky, childlike world. In addition to Reubens, the series starred Laurence Fishburne as Cowboy Curtis, Lynne Marie Stewart as Miss Yvonne, Phil Hartman as Captain Carl, S. Epatha Merkerson as Reba the Mail Lady, and John Paragon as Jambi the Genie. The theme song was composed by Devo-founder Mark Mothersbaugh, who also composed the theme song for Nicktoons such as Rugrats and Rocket Power.

One of Nickelodeon's most beloved Nicktoons has its origins on Pee-wee's Playhouse! Animator Craig Bartlett got his start creating the Penny cartoons on the show.

While playing around with the strangely-shaped characters in the Penny cartoons on Pee-wee's Playhouse, Bartlett created a football-shaped-headed kid, who later became the star of Hey Arnold!.
