Power Rangers: Here's How You Can Stream 'Super Sentai' For Free

Power Rangers owes its origins to the original Japanese Super Sentai series, and now fans in the US can check several of the more popular seasons for free!

While fans can access the entirety of the Power Rangers franchise on Netflix if you want to watch the Super Sentai seasons you have fewer options unless you want to get a physical copy. The good news is thanks to Shout! Factory fans can actually stream multiple seasons of the show on the streaming service Tubi TV!

TubiTV is a free ad-supported streaming service that features some of your favorite properties and you may not have ever known about it!

The service currently has eight seasons of Shout! Factory/Shout! Factory TV’s Super Sentai subtitled series available to stream for free.

Fans can stream all episodes of Super Sentai Zyuranger, Seijuu Sentai Gingaman, Gekisou Sentai Carranger, Ninja Sentai Kakuranger, Gosei Sentai Dairanger, Kyuukyuu Sentai GoGoFive, Denji Sentai Megaranger, and Chouriki Sentai Ohranger, and the best part is that its all legal!

Tokunation reached out to Shout! Factory to make sure it was legit, and Shout! Factory and Shout! Factory TV are both licensed partners with TubiTV.

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers took much of its footage from Kyoryu Sentai Zyuranger, which is actually the 16th installment of the Super Sentai series. The Green Ranger was played by Shiro Izumi, who played the role of Burai the Dragon Ranger.

While much of the footage made it into Mighty Morphin Power Ranges, Jason David Frank (who played Tommy on the show) admitted at Florida Supercon that he hasn't seen much of the original show, especially since they were cutting and splicing things together.

"I think a couple of times they showed it in the office, but the problem with that was it just didn't, it confused the American version and what we were doing because we had to cut stuff out," said Frank. "So it was confusing as it was because we didn't know what Power Rangers was, nobody did in the United States, so it was kind of confusing to see different things."

Frank also said he does remember some of the stuff that did not make it into the American series due to it being deemed too violent.

"I got a chance to watch some of it. It was a little more violent, which was cool at the time. I was like "put that in" and they were like "sorry, we can't, this is in the United States", and we were like "What! Put that footage in", but we couldn't. They cut a lot of the cool."

Fans can catch the current season of Power Rangers Super Ninja Steel on Nickelodeon USA. The next instalment of the iconic franchise, Power Rangers Beast Morphers, is set to premiere on Nickelodeon during early 2019.

Shout! and DHX Media Strike Home Entertainment Deal for "Kuu Kuu Harajuku"

Shout! Factory and DHX Media have teamed up to bring Grammy winner Gwen Stefani’s popular music-driven, street fashion-inspired animated series Kuu Kuu Harajuku to the North American home entertainment market. The deal was announced by Shout! Factory founders Richard Foos, Bob Emmer and Garson Foos; and Mark Shoeman, Territory Manager at DHX Media.

The multi-year agreement grants Shout! the exclusive home entertainment distribution rights (DVD and Blu-ray) in the US and Canada to all 26 episodes of the first-season of the series. A strategic rollout is planned for 2017 through kids & family imprint, Shout! Factory Kids.

“The US market is a huge territory for us and one where Kuu Kuu Harajuku is proving to be widely popular with its audience on Nickelodeon, so it was crucial for us to appoint a strong home entertainment company in the region,” said Shoeman. “Shout! Factory understands the market, and importantly for us, the kids’ sector, and we feel they are the ideal company to take this highly original series beyond broadcast into DVD.”

Kuu Kuu Harajuku follows the fun-loving bandmates of HJ5 — Love, Angel, Music, Baby and G — as they encounter magical adventures in a super cute world full of music, fashion and style. The concept was born out of Stefani’s desire to create an animated series for girls that encourages creative self-expression, imagination and individuality, and is inspired by the street fashion and creative youth culture of Tokyo’s Harajuku district.

Airing on Nickelodeon in the US and Family Channel in Canada, the series is co-created and produced by Moody Street Kids (Australia), Vision Animation (Malaysia) and Gwen Stefani; and commissioned by Network Ten with investment funding from Film Victoria (Australia) and MyCreative Ventures (Malaysia). DHX Media handles international distribution.

Shout! Factory to Release "Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir" on Home Video in North America

North American video distributor Shout! Factory announced the super news on Monday that it has entered a distribution agreement with entertainment group Zag to release Zag's Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir series in the United States and Canada, Anime News Network reports! The rights include DVD, Blu-ray, and select digital outlets. Shout! Factory plans to begin releasing the series in 2016.

The 3D CG Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir series debuted in South Korea in September 2015, before premiering in the United States on Nickelodeon on December 6. The series is also airing in France and Australia, and will premiere in Canada, New Zealand, EMEA, Latin America, Italy, Brazil, Belgium, Switzerland, and Lithuania.

The 26-episode series follows two junior high students, Marinette and Adrien, chosen to save Paris from the evil doings of a mysterious super-villain. The storylines and adventures are rich with friends, family, fun, secret identity, transformation, villains, fashion, creativity and more, all within the spectacular backdrop of Paris.

As secret identity superheroes Ladybug and Cat Noir, Marinette and Adrien must balance the crazy antics of normal teen life while stopping weekly baddies deployed by Hawk Moth to steal their powers and take over the world. With the help of their magical kwami, Tikki and Plagg, and miraculous jewels, the duo transform into their alter egos, Ladybug and Cat Noir, and are granted powers of speed, strength, agility and a clear mind.

The series is a co-production between Zag, Method Animation, Toei Animation, and SamG, with the participation of TF1, Disney Channel EMEA, SK Broadband, and AB droits audiovisuels.

Zag Entertainment, Toei Animation, and Method Animation co-produced a 2D-animated promotional video for the project announcement before relaunching it as a CG-animated series. Zag and Toei Animation are co-producing a 2D-animated OVA for the series, though it will include Cat Noir's design from the 3D CG-animated series, not the older design used in the promotional video.

Bandai America will unveil its brand-new Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir toy line at the 2016 North American International Toy Fair.

Targeted to girls ages 4-8, the Miraculous toy line will feature a robust assortment of toys centered on aspirational action play, transformation and friendship, including action dolls for girls, transformational role play, plush pets and fashion dolls, guaranteed to bring the Miraculouys Ladybug brand to life. The range is set to launch this Fall/Autumn at mass and specialty retailers across the world.
