Nickelodeon will be one of several kids channels that Corus will be closing on Sept. 1, with the Canadian versions of Disney XD, Disney Jr., La Chaine Disney (Disney French), and ABC Spark also scheduled to shutter on that day. Corus has told distributors that the channel closures are due to financial pressures, reports Cartt.ca,
Update (8/19) - Nickelodeon Canada will closedown at midnight on Monday, September 1. It appears that YTV and Treehouse will also start removing Nickelodeon programming on that day, too.
Update (8/28) - Corus has now shutdown the official Nickelodeon Canada website, nickcanada.com.

Additionally, in another loss to Canadian children's television, whilst not officially confirmed, it appears that the Corus-owned Nelvana, one of Canada's most storied animation studios, may have quietly closed down on Friday, August 29. It's unclear what will happen to Nelvana's distribution catalogue, which includes the international distribution rights to Nickelodeon shows such as The Fairly OddParents and Taina.
It's currently unknown whether Nickelodeon's sister channels, YTV and Treehouse TV, and Corus streaming service STACKTV, will continue to carry Nickelodeon programming.
Launched on November 2, 2009, Nickelodeon Canada primarily airs a mix of both contemporary and older original programming seen on its U.S. counterpart, with most of Nickelodeon's current programming airing on YTV and Treehouse TV. The channel also features a commercial-free (ad-supported on the weekends), Nick Jr.-branded block of preschool programming during the daytime hours. In order to fulfil Canadian content guidelines, Nickelodeon also airs programming sourced from other Corus-owned networks.
