Upcoming Nickelodeon Star Rachel Crow Talks About Her New Nickelodeon Pilot

From MTV News USA:
Rachel Crow Wants Eminem On Her Nickelodeon Show

'X Factor' alum tells MTV News her Nick pilot will be 'really Rachel.'

Rachel Crow, the pint-size cutie who won over America on "The X Factor" and made a lasting impression with her heartbreaking elimination, may have come out of the singing competition a winner after all. Just last month, Crow not only landed a recording contract with Columbia Records, but also signed an overall talent deal with Nickelodeon to star in her own musical-comedy pilot.

MTV News caught up with Crow on the set of the Nick series "Fred: The Show," where she will be a series regular as the character Starr.

[Click here to watch MTV News' chat with upcoming Nickelodeon Star Rachel Crow]

"My head was exploding when I couldn't tell anyone," Crow said about her new projects. "I kept telling people, 'Oh, stuff will be coming out soon,' and then it kept getting pushed back, pushed back, and I was like, 'People are gonna think I'm lying!' But I'm so happy I can tell everyone about it now. I'm really excited."

Crow, who finished in fifth place on "X Factor," has not yet started filming her own series but promises it will be a true representation of her personality.

"I've been thinking about it. We're kind of in the first stages of deciding what it's gonna be now," Crow said. "But it'll be really fun, really Rachel. We'll see how it goes. I'm still thinking about it, something really fun and something that kids can relate to."

In addition to staying true to herself, she's also hoping to reach an audience that may not be too familiar with her: the boys.

"I want to reach the boy audience, because I know that's really hard to do," Crow admitted. "Boys don't usually watch a really girly show, but I want to make sure that it's a family-oriented, very fun, edgy, wacky show."

And to get that edgy twist she is looking for, she already has some dream guest stars in mind.

"I've always wanted to sing with Eminem. I know, it's really weird. I really love him," Crow said. "I would really love for ['Fred: The Show' star] Lucas [Cruikshank] to be on my show, a lot of the Nickelodeon stars. I'm still super excited, I can't even believe what's happening."

Former Nickelodeon UK Presenter Simon Amstell Talks To 'The Guardian'

The official website of the British national daily newspaper 'The Guardian', Guardian.co.uk, has posted an interview they conducted with former Nickelodeon UK Presenter Simon Amstell, where he briefly talks about his time presenting Nickelodeon UK in the late 1990's/early 2000's:
Ever since he was 13, Amstell had wanted to go into telly. He grew up in Essex, his father ran a courier and minicab firm, and his mum dreamed of singing. As a teenager, he and his brother turned a spare room into a DIY studio where they'd make their own shows and act out being professionals. "I loved The Big Breakfast. I loved seeing floor managers and clipboards and earpieces; when I got my first job, it was such a thrill to be wearing a microphone and have an earpiece!"

In 1993 he made his first TV appearance, as a contestant on the C4 gameshow GamesMaster; he popped up again in his early teens doing a Dame Edna impression on Good Morning With Anne And Nick, and as a budding magician on Family Catchphrase. By 18, he was presenting on children's TV station Nickelodeon – from which he has said he was sacked for being "sarcastic and mean to children" – and by the age of 21 Amstell had established himself as the irreverent interviewer on Popworld. "The way to do it was to be the opposite of whatever the pop shows were at the time. Pop shows were bland, and I did not want Popworld to be another bland pop show."
You can read the full interview, which also talks about Simon Amstell's upcoming 2012 tour, here on the official 'The Guardian' website, although parental guidance is recommended as the full article contains language which may offend throughout.

Nickelodeon Star Carlos Pena Confirms Nickelodeon Boy Band "Big Time Rush" Planning To Do A Collaboration With UK-Irish Boy Band One Direction

From Examiner.com:
One Direction collaborations: Big Time Rush definite; Justin Bieber possible

Justin Bieber and One Direction are currently the most popular male teen idols in the world. And now Bieber's manager says that Bieber and One Direction could team up on a music project. In addition, One Direction is definitely planning to collaborate with Nickelodeon boy band Big Time Rush on a song and music video.

One Direction came in third place on "The X Factor" U.K. in 2010.

On March 10, 2012, a fan asked Bieber's manager Scooter Braun on Twitter: “Do you think justin could ever possibly colab with one direction?"

Braun replied: "Very possible. he likes them and thinks they are good dudes. all people of that generation should be there to help EACHOTHER.”

One Direction did its first North American tour as the opening act for Big Time Rush from February 24 to March 9, 2012.

Big Time Rush member Carlos Pena told Teen that there is a collaboration in the works with One Direction and Big Time Rush: "There’s gonna be a special video coming out with us and 1D. I’m not sure if you saw the 'Call Me Maybe' video, but we’re making one with a special song that I can’t tell you about, but it’s gonna be us and them. It’s gonna be pretty crazy."

One Direction have teamed up with other artists for these musical collaborations on stage:

* Various performances with other "X Factor" U.K. finalists during the show in 2010.

* On "The X Factor" U.K. season finale in 2010, the group performed "She's the One" with Robbie Williams.

* A 2010 remake of David Bowie's "Heroes" with the Top 16 "X Factor" U.K. finalists of 2010.

* A 2011 remake of Rose Royce's "Wishing on a Star" with JLS and the Top 16 "X Factor" U.K. finalists of 2011.

After five weeks of competing in "the slimiest, grubbiest and smelliest series of challenges", one team will be crowned "Champ Orange" in a public vote.

Last year's winners received a luxury trip on the Norwegian Epic Nickelodeon Cruise around the Mediterranean alongside a lineup of Nickelodeon stars.

"Inviting British kids to be involved in a Nickelodeon series is always fantastic but Camp Orange is such a celebration of friendship, achievement and enjoying the outdoors, that it feels extra special to be giving our audience the chance to be a part of it," said Nickelodeon UK managing director Tina McCann.

"Along with being physically and mentally tested, the teams that are selected for Camp Orange are set to have a lot of fun with the new challenges and fantastic prizes that are part of the second season."

Children aged 11-14 should visit the Nickelodeon website for entry details and to submit their audition videos.

The show is into its seventh series in Australia and will return in the UK in August.
