Netflix to Premiere 'Avatar: The Last Airbender' Season Three in 2027; Unveils First Look at New Season

Netflix has announced that it will premiere Avatar: The Last Airbender season three, the third and final season of the streaming service's hit live-action reimagining of the beloved Nickelodeon animated series, in 2027! To celebrate, the streamer unveiled a first look still from the new season, featuring Daniel Dae Kim as Fire Lord Ozai in an imposing stance ahead of key events such as Aang mastering firebending and the arrival of Sozin’s Comet.

Filmed back-to-back with season two, Avatar: The Last Airbender season three is set to welcome back cast members Gordon Cormier as Avatar Aang, Kiawentiio as Katara, Ian Ousley as Sokka, Dallas Liu as Prince Zuko, Miya Cech as Toph Beifong, Elizabeth Yu as Princess Azula, Momona Tamada as Ty Lee, and Paul Sun-Hyung Lee as Uncle Iroh, with Maria Zhang as Suki and Daniel Dae Kim as Ozai.

New cast members for the third and final season will also include Jon Jon Briones (Ratched, Hadestown, The Last Voyage of the Demeter) as Piandao and Tantoo Cardinal (Dances with Wolves, Legends of the Fall, Killers of the Flower Moon) as Hama.

AVATAR: THE LAST AIRBENDER follows Aang, the young Avatar, as he learns to master the four elements (Water, Earth, Fire, Air) to restore balance to a world threatened by the terrifying Fire Nation. • August 13, 2026 - Paramount+ today announced that production is underway on Discretion, the eight-episode legal thriller adapted from Chandler Baker's short story, starring Academy Award^® and Emmy^® winner Nicole Kidman, Academy Award^® and Emmy^® nominee Elle Fanning, and Josh Lucas. The series will be executive produced and written by acclaimed New York Times bestselling author Baker and executive produced by Academy Award^® and Emmy^® nominee Susannah Grant. Kidman and Fanning also executive produce via their Blossom Films and Lewellen Pictures banners, respectively. Emmy^® nominee Matt Shakman, who serves as executive producer, will direct the first four episodes. Produced by A24, the series will launch globally on Paramount+ in 2027.

• Joining the previously announced cast as series regulars are Golden Globe^® and Emmy^® nominee Stephan James (I Play Rocky, If Beale Street Could Talk) and Colton Ryan (The Girl from Plainville). James will play "Logan," a sharp corporate associate who becomes a mentor to Lenny. Ryan will star as "Boone," Lenny’s (Fanning) ex-boyfriend, a recovering addict from an affluent Dallas family, now nine months sober living at a halfway house while quietly trying to rebuild his life.

• Discretion is a legal thriller about a summer associate Lenny at a prestigious Dallas law firm who uncovers a web of NDAs masking a dark truth. When she realizes she signed the same agreement, her discoveries put her in the crosshairs of the firm’s most powerful female partner Sharon (Kidman)—upending their mentor-protégé dynamic and raising the question: who gets to keep secrets, and at what cost.

• The series will be executive produced and written by acclaimed New York Times bestselling author Chandler Baker (Whisper Network, The Husbands) and executive produced by Oscar^® and Emmy^® nominee Susannah Grant (Erin Brokovich, Unbelievable). Matt Shakman serves as executive producer and will direct the first four episodes. Nicole Kidman and Per Saari (Blossom Films), Elle Fanning, Dakota Fanning and Brittany Kahan Ward (Lewellen Pictures), Joe Hipps (CUT TO) and Jordan Cerf (Linden Entertainment) also serve as executive producers along with A24.

August 4, 2026 – Paramount+ today announced that it has greenlit a new thriller titled Ascent, starring Emmy^®, Grammy^®, Oscar^® and Tony^® Award-winning actress, Viola Davis and created by Tony Award winner and three-time Oscar nominee John Logan (Skyfall, Gladiator, Michael, Penny Dreadful). Logan will serve as showrunner and executive producer alongside executive producers Michael Aguilar (Penny Dreadful: City of Angels, Kidding, The Departed), and Davis and Julius Tennon for JuVee Productions.

• Produced by Paramount Television Studios, Ascent is slated to begin production in Los Angeles in 2027.

• Ascent is a character-driven thriller set in the dangerous world of global corporate crisis and damage control. Davis will play elite corporate fixer Catriona Vail, who must weaponize the ruthless skills that have made her indispensable to billion-dollar clients when her estranged daughter is in danger.

July 30, 2026 – Paramount+ today announced it has greenlit a sequel event series to the cult-classic 90s teen comedy film, Clueless. Alicia Silverstone will reprise her role as the Beverly Hills’ it-girl Cher Horowitz and will also serve as an executive producer for the series, set to begin production in Los Angeles in 2027.

• Picking up 30 years after the original film, beloved Beverly Hills icon Cher Horowitz has figured out a lot: She’s successful in business and has mastered motherhood—that is, until her daughter’s high school years, and Cher finds that parenting a teenager makes her feel “clueless” all over again.

• Produced by CBS Studios, the series is written and executive produced by Josh Schwartz & Stephanie Savage (The OC, Gossip Girl, Nancy Drew) via Fake Empire, and Jordan Weiss (Freakier Friday, Dollface). Alicia Silverstone, Amy Heckerling, who wrote and directed the original film, and original film producer Robert Lawrence will also serve as executive producers.

• Last Summer, Paramount Pictures’ Clueless celebrated its milestone 30th anniversary, during which members of the original cast and movie’s director reunited at a 35mm screening of the film at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures. The film was also recently added to the United States National Film Registry by the Library of Congress.

LOS ANGELES, CA (July 25, 2026) – A new wave of Turtle fandom is coming to comic shops in 2027.

When the best-selling TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES (TMNT) flagship series reaches issue #25 in 2027, current writer Gene Luen Yang will pass the bo staff to award-winning writer Matthew Rosenberg (If Destruction Be Our Lot, Spawn, Uncanny X-Men) and amazing artist Juann Cabal (Daredevil, Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, Elektra). While the acclaimed writer is no stranger to playing in Marvel and DC’s sandbox, it’s the indie space where he has truly thrived and made an unforgettable impact on the comic industry. Rosenberg, a lifelong resident of the Turtles’ very own New York City, is bringing this same energy to the Heroes in a Half-Shell. Prepare for a thrilling story as the greatest roster of villains, both new and old, have assembled to hunt down the Turtles over the course of a single night.
