Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game Storyline:

It is the time of Harmonic Convergence. The planets have aligned, and a surge of spiritual energy from the Spirit Portals creates a Harmonic Rift—a celestial tear that has pulled heroes and villains across the world and time into an alternate spiritual reality. In this Harmonic Rift memories are changed, friends become enemies, and the conflicts are creating an imbalance that could end reality as it is known. The beacon of hope is the strength of our heroes' friendships and loves, suppressed and distorted by the
Harmonic Rift, but still there to be revealed...

Shape the fate of time and space across 27 chapters of an all-new canon story outlined by Avatar co-creator Michael Dante DiMartino and written by series writer Tim Hedrick, then dive into arcade runs featuring unique storylines for every playable character.

New 'Secret' Avatar: The Last Airbender Series In Development

A brand new "secret" Avatar: The Last Airbender TV series is currently in the works, it has been revealed!

Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender

Update (8/14) - Paramount has filed to trademark Avatar Kuruk: Wave of Chaos for a potential new Avatar series along with toys and merchandising. It's currently unknown whether this project is related to Avatar: Red Thunder, although both are set to feature waterbenders.

Speaking to GamesRadar+ at Comic-Con International: San Diego 2026 about what's coming up next for Avatar: The Last Airbender, Michael Dante DiMartino, the co-creator of Nickelodeon's iconic Avatar franchise, teased "There's stuff in development, just TV shows in production, but not features at the moment."

"We have another secret thing in production, but yeah, it's on the series side," added co-creator Bryan Konietzko. "To be clear, we're series people, so that's okay to us. Features is a new thing to us."

We already knew something was in the works thanks to previous comments from Konietzko. "The [Avatar] Aang movie was just one of a whole slate," he shared. "I'm working on another thing, which we'll announce when the time's right."

The news comes at the first project announced under Nickelodeon's Avatar Studios label, the movie Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender, is released on Paramount+ on Saturday, July 25. This will be followed by the brand new series, Avatar: Seven Havens, set to premiere on Paramount+ on Friday, October 9.

The original plan was for three feature-length films, however, things have changed slightly since Paramount merged with Skydance. The first of these changes were announced in December, with Paramount+ becoming the home of all new Avatar content produced under the Avatar Studios label. Beforehand, Avatar Aang was originally slated for theaters, and Avatar: Seven Havens for Nickelodeon.

Update (8/11) - From Knight Edge Media:

New Villain Details For Avatar Studios ‘Avatar: Red Thunder’ Animated Series (EXCLUSIVE)

The very first antagonist details have been revealed for the secret Avatar: Last Airbender animated series titled Red Thunder.

Last summer, we at Knight Edge Media brought you the first character details of a secret animated series in development at Avatar Studios under the working title Red Thunder. This new series will take place in a different era from their previously announced Avatar: Seven Havens series, most likely in the distant past. While the project was not officially announced or titled, Avatar: The Last Airbender co-creator Bryan Konietzko confirmed at SDCC 2026 that a show exists but will be fully revealed at a later date. The character descriptions from a casting call last summer were for a new teenage Water Tribe Avatar codename “Baroo” and his future chief of the Water Tribe friend “Meebs”. (These codenames are only for the casting call process and won’t be used in the final cut of the series.) The studio was looking for teenage Indigenous/First Nations actors for the role. It will most likely be complete unknowns, just like Avatar Pavi (played by Shaeli Khan) and Nisha (played by Aishu Devan) were in Seven Havens. Apparently, there were multiple rounds of casting for the roles of Meebs and Baroo in both 2024 and summer 2025 (see below).

We also learned that the antagonist of the series will be a female Water Tribe leader codename “Deela”. She will also be Meebs’ mother in this story. We have also exclusively learned that a high-profile Indigenous actress was in talks for the role. Interestingly, the role of Deela appeared only in the 2024 casting call, not in the 2025 one, which means the actress could have remained signed on throughout both casting processes. Paramount is high on this series, as they see the Avatar: The Last Airbender franchise as more geared towards boys than girls, even though Seven Havens will feature twin female heroines. The loglines from both casting calls are only slightly different but tell the same premise:

2024 -“A teenager ventures into mysterious lands cursed by ice, only to discover his former teacher–and now hunter–is behind it all. Now he must break the curse and free the world, all while having a little chaotic fun along the way.”

2025 – “A rebellious teenager bucks thousands of years of tradition to go on globetrotting adventures, staying one step ahead of his angry teacher, rowdy pirates, and chaotic gremlins–all while helping the world in his own unique ways.”

From what we have learned, the main premise of the story is that it takes place during an Ice Age (possibly inspired by the on-hold AAA video game), with the Water Tribe as the villain nation. So what happens when an Avatar is born into an aggressive nation? While Avatar Roku comes to mind, he had to die for Firelord Sozin to wage war on the Air Nomads. Avatar Kyoshi also had to deal with Emperor Chin and the conquest of the Earth Kingdom. However, both Roku and Kyoshi were already adults by that time, not teenagers. The pilot has been done for a while, but the show hasn’t been fully picked up just yet.

Viacom Registers ‘Avatar Kuruk: Wave of Chaos’ Trademark For Avatar Studios

A new trademark was registered by Viacom International for a new Avatar Studios property titled Avatar Kuruk: Wave of Chaos.

Today, a new trademark was registered by Viacom International for a new Avatar Studios property titled Avatar Kuruk: Wave of Chaos. While trademark registrations could mean almost anything from video games to novels to clothing, it was registered under Class 41. Classification 41 specifies “Entertainment Services, namely, the provision of continuing in multimedia programs featuring animation delivered by television, satellite, the internet and computer networks.” So it’s very possible this is something animated-related.

We at Knight Edge Media have already revealed in 2025 that a secret Water Tribe animated series was in development under the working title Red Thunder. However, the casting calls used codenames for all the characters (i.e “Baroo”). So it was hard to determine if it was a new Avatar series or based on a previously established Avatar like Kuruk. We were told the series takes place during an Ice Age; however, we don’t know if it’s the same Ice Age from the on-hold AAA video game, which is 7,000 years before Aang’s time. While Avatar Kuruk lived only a few hundred years before Aang. It should be noted that the logline for Red Thunder did read,

“A rebellious teenager bucks thousands of years of tradition to go on globetrotting adventures, staying one step ahead of his angry teacher, rowdy pirates, and chaotic gremlins–all while helping the world in his own unique ways.”

It’s possible they took the AAA game premise since it’s no longer technically canon and simply gave it to Kuruk, but we really don’t know. We’ll have to wait and see whether this trademark is the same as the secret Red Thunder series. This is mostly speculation, trying to connect the two until it is officially announced.

Avatar: Red Thunder and Avatar Kuruk: Wave of Chaos have no set release date

'Avatar: Seven Havens' Premiere Date, Trailer Unveiled at SDCC 2026

The new Paramount+ series comes from the original Nickelodeon show’s creators Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko

Avatar: Seven Havens, the latest series set in Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko's beloved Avatar: The Last Airbender universe, will premiere globally on Friday, October 9. The news was announced during San Diego Comic Con on Thursday (July 23) with Nickelodeon and Avatar Studios sharing a first teaser for the highly anticipated new series.

The October 9 premiere date should stick out to fans, as it was originally the date set for the premiere of the movie Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender, before that release was moved up to Saturday, July 25. How the series will rollout (boxset drop or regularly released episodes) is still being determined.

The Avatar franchise is set in a universe where people called benders are able to control one of four elements: water, earth, fire and air. Only the Avatar, someone who emerges once a generation, is able to control all four elements. The franchise has followed the various Avatars over the year. The Last Airbender followed Aang, an airbender who was the last of his time and who helped the world escape the rule of the Fire Nation. The Legend of Korra followed a waterbender named Korra who opened the portals between the physical and spirit worlds, a decision that was originally made by the first Avatar Wan. Korra did so because she believed these two realms were meant to coexist. Now Seven Havens will show audiences what happened after Korra.

Seven Havens follows a young earthbender who becomes the Avatar during a time when the Avatar is thought to be humanity’s destroyer rather than its savior. In this new and dangerous world, she will be hunted by human and spirit foes alike. Only by joining forces with her long-lost twin can the sisters uncover their mysterious origins and save the Seven Havens before civilization itself collapses. Check out the first trailer below:

Per the official logline, the new show “centers around a young Earthbender who discovers she’s the new Avatar after Korra in a world shattered by a devastating cataclysm. In this dangerous era, that title marks her as humanity’s destroyer, not its savior. Hunted by both human and spirit enemies, she and her long-lost twin must uncover their mysterious origins and save the Seven Havens before civilization’s last strongholds collapse.”

The upcoming series stars Saheli Khan as Pavi, Aishu Devan as Nisha, Akshay Khanna as Karthik, Major Curda as Jae, Sakina Jaffrey as Agam, Darren Barnet as Daemin, Dianne Doan as Zi and Dee Bradley Baker as Geet and Ruhi.

Avatar: Seven Havens is created by franchise masterminds Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko, who also serve as executive producers via Avatar Studios. Ethan Spaulding is an executive producer as well, with Sehaj Sethi as co-executive producer. Nickelodeon and Avatar Studios produce. There will be 26 episodes in the first season of the show.

Like past Avatar shows, Seven Havens is divided into two “books” comprised of 13 episodes each.

This year, the world of Avatar took over Comic Con’s Hall H for the first time thanks to a panel highlighting The Last Airbender spinoff movie, Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender. The panel featured a conversation with cast members Eric Nam, Dave Bautista, Román Zaragoza, Jessica Matten and Dionne Quan as well as co-creators Konietzko and DiMartino and director Lauren Montgomery. Janet Varney, the original voice of Korra, moderated the panel.

Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender is set to debut with a special screening at San Diego Comic-Con on July 24 before its streaming release the next day. The film is also playing a one-week awards qualifying run in theaters in New York and Los Angeles in lieu of the full theatrical release it was originally supposed to get.

Avatar: The Last Airbender premiered on Nickelodeon in 2005 and ran for three seasons. It is widely regarded as one of the greatest animated series of all time, and was followed by sequel series The Legend of Korra, which premiered in 2012 and ran for four seasons.

First Details On Avatar Studios' Scrapped ‘Firelord Zuko’ Animated Movie Revealed

First plot details are revealed for the now canceled Firelord Zuko animated movie that follow the the events of Avatar: The Last Airbender.

Avatar Studios recently released their first feature-length film based on Nickelodeon's beloved Avatar: The Last Airbender animated series, titled Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender. The film has been the primary focus for the animation studio alongside their next animated series, Avatar: Seven Havens, set to premiere Friday, October 9 on Paramount+. However, at one point the studio was going to focus on multiple theatrical films.

Avatar: Fire Lord Zuko
Knight Edge Media

The creators, Mike DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko, revealed at SDCC 2026 that the supposed leaks about the other films were very much “half right/half wrong.” (via X) Meaning that they all could be at various stages of development when they were initially leaked by Avatar News in 2022. So some aspects of the films could have been legitimate, or just ideas thrown around as possibilities, like the Avatar Kyoshi film specifically. Everything was put on hold to begin development of the Avatar Aang film, which became the main focus moving forward.

Avatar Studios

Knight Edge Media have learned that the rumored Firelord Zuko film was actually the second one in development and furthest along. Apparently, Steven Yeun specifically signed on to voice Zuko more for this film than the Aang film, given his limited lines. Similarly, the rest of the new voice cast from the Aang movie would appear in this film in some capacity. The production was in the voiceover stage and already had some pre-viz done. However, everything was scrapped in favor of the Avatar Aang movie.

avatar the last airbender book 3 ran and shaw dancing dragons still
Avatar Studios

The main plot of the film focused on the mysterious murder of the dragons, Ran & Shaw, from Book 3 of the original series. This means Zuko would have the last living dragon with the egg he finds in Book 3 and is an adult in The Legend of Korra. There is also an assassination attempt on Uncle Iroh. All to draw out Firelord Zuko as the next possible target by this mysterious assassin. This film was also going to delve deeper into his relationship with Azula after the 100-Year War. A new actor was already signed on to voice Azula after the great Grey DeLisle voiced her in the original series. It sounds like it drew inspiration from the graphic novels The Search and Smoke & Shadow. Since those comics were about Azula’s time in prison and eventual escape, however, it was not going to be a direct adaptation of either comic.

Story Mode in Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game takes place in an alternate reality where characters from multiple eras of the Avatar franchise meet and have different roles and relationships. Alliances have shifted, and some characters play unexpected parts or have very different personalities compared to their original incarnations. Make sure to complete all chapters of Story Mode to reveal the nature of this new world.

Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game features eight stages portraying iconic locales from Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra:

  • Northern Air Temple
  • Ba Sing Se
  • Fire Lord Throne Room
  • Azure Fire Lord Throne Room
