VIS Distribution Adds Ananey Studios Content to Portfolio

Following its parent company’s April 2020 acquisition of leading Israeli media company Ananey Communications Group (Ananey Studios), ViacomCBS International Studios (VIS) Distribution has augmented its sales catalogue with over 750 episodes of content including teen live-action series, entertainment formats and kids’ and pre-school shows.

Ananey Communications owns and operates six local pay TV channels for which it produces a broad range of youth, children’s, lifestyle and entertainment content. Ananey also manages and operates under license local versions of VCNI’s flagship pay-TV brands, including Nickelodeon, Nick Jr., TeenNick, MTV, and Comedy Central, as well as representing an additional seven VCNI channels for affiliate sales in Israel. In addition to producing content for its own and VCNI’s channels in Israel, Ananey also produces for third parties both in Israel and internationally. The acquisition followed ViacomCBS’s previous purchase of a minority stake in the company in December 2016.

Amongst the titles being newly distributed by VIS Distribution as finished tapes or available as format for adaptation are recently launched kids’ sitcom Unsupervised, about four spoiled siblings left home along; and teen adventure series Rising; set at a training and recruitment center for kids in 1946, two years before the State of Israel was founded; and The Hood, a teen drama set in a low-income neighborhood in a wealthy Israeli district. Also part of the portfolio are Greenhouse Academy, a US-English remake of Nickelodeon Israel's hit series The GreenhouseCraft Party (Hebrew and English versions) and Rescue Team.

“We are thrilled to be expanding our VIS catalogue with Ananey’s complementary range of content,” commented Lauren Marriott, senior vice president, VIS Distribution. “Israel is renowned as a hub for high-end productions and Ananey is equally recognised as a well-established and prolific producer of local and global scripted and entertainment content, which we’re confident new audiences around the world will find irresistible.”

“We can’t wait for viewers outside of Israel to fall in love with more of our content,” added Orly Atlas-Katz, CEO, Ananey Communications. “The inclusion of our titles in the ViacomCBS International Studios Distribution catalogue is a great show of confidence in kids’ series coming out of Israel and we couldn’t be more excited to get them to new audiences around the world.”

JoJo Siwa Reveals Who Her Girlfriend Is On 1 Month Anniversary

JoJo Siwa just gave fans the first look at her with her girlfriend!

The 17-year-old Nickelodeon superstar and social media phenomenon went public she had a girlfriend last week on The Tonight Show, and now we know her name is Kylie, and they’ve been together for a month.

“After being my best friend for over a year, January 8th 2021 I got to start calling this exceptional human my Girlfriend… and Since then I’ve been the happiest I have ever been!” JoJo sweetly wrote on Instagram.

“She seriously is the most loving, supportive, happiest, protective, and just the most beautiful perfect person in the world. And I get to call her mine! Happy one month to my girl! I love you more and more everyday!❤️” she added.

The photo shows Kylie and JoJo inside an oversized box for a Funko Pop! The Office figure.

Update (2/9) - Kylie also shared an Instagram post to celebrate her anniversary with Siwa. She geotagged the location as "Heaven on Earth" and also posted a series of sweet photos of the pair. "[F]all in love with your best friend, guys. it's THE BEST feeling in the entire world. here's to one month with my favorite human  i love you sharky," Kylie captioned her post. JoJo replied saying "The best ever. I’m so lucky you’re my human. I love you forever and ever❤️"

We’re talking, two Disneyland dates with the pair dressed in fuzzy animal-themed onesies, posing with matching tie-dye jumpers, and an adorable clip of the pair singing the hook to Justin Bieber’s As Long As You Love Me in the backseat of the car, presumably after one of their adorable trips to the Mickey Mouse amusement park.

JoJo came out as a member of the LGBTQIA+ community just a couple of weeks ago, and recently revealed that her girlfriend helped encourage her to publicly come out.

JoJo is currently in Vancouver, Canada getting to work on her new musical Nickelodeon movie The J Team. The entertainer was spotted just outside her new hotel today (Monday, Feb. 8) after completing the required quarantine period, as she prepares to start work on the film. Find out more about The J Team here.

Backgrid USA

JoJo and her family caught COVID last last year.

JoJo was seen wearing an all black look, including facemask, with pops up neon yellow on her hoodie and with the big bow in her hair, as she was carrying a sparkly microphone stand in her hands while leaving her hotel.

Siwa, who has a younger fanbase, has received praise for her decision to come out despite potential backlash from parents.

Traci Gillig, a Washington State University assistant professor, who studied the impacts of LGBTQ+ representation on young people told CNN that Siwa’s decision to come out was important and unprecedented.

“JoJo’s pride in her identity and her confidence in shrugging off negative responses indicates that her social media presence will foster a sense of supportive community for LGBTQ youth,” Gillig said.

“She’s one more voice -- and a big one -- communicating to young LGBTQ people that they are loved.”

Siwa has a history of being transparent with her social media followers.

'iCarly' Revival Producer Answers Fan Questions About Missing Cast Members Jenette McCurdy and Noah Munck

Are we gonna see Sam and Gibby back?

iCarly fans are still freaking out over the news that the show will be coming back for a brand new revival on Paramount+. However, they couldn't help but notice that two of the original cast members were missing from the big announcement.

Jennette McCurdy and Noah Munck, who played Sam and Gibby, respectively, have not been confirmed to return to the brand new series. While there are hundreds of questions swirling on whether or not we will see them again, the producer of the new series, Jay Kogen, reassured fans about their possible returns.

He confirmed that both Jennette and Noah have both been asked to return. According to Jay, Noah has been approached with the opportunity, while "it's her call" in terms of Jennette.

Update (12/14) - Kogen has confirmed that the reboot will not recast Sam if McCurdy decides to not reprise the role:

There's no word as to why the cast members haven't officially decided to return to the series, but they have been keeping busy lately. Jennette just wrapped up the first season of her podcast, Empty Inside. Meanwhile, Noah Munck has been reoccurring in the hit ABC series, The Goldbergs, since 2014. His former iCarly co-star Miranda Cosgrove also guest starred in a recent episode of The Goldbergs.

Meanwhile, Jay also revealed some brand new details about the series, which is being produced by Nickelodeon Studios for Paramount+, and what fans could expect. He confirmed that the show will be for adults, so don't expect it to be the same Nickelodeon jokes that you're used to.

Jay also confirmed that filming is set to start in March 2021, so hopefully, this means we'll get the reboot by the end of the year.

So wake up the members of iCarly nation, your time is almost here!

'iCarly' Reboot: Where's Jennette McCurdy?

Nickelodeon fans were thrilled to hear that iCarly was the latest beloved show getting the revival treatment, with a new series headed to the upcoming Paramount+ streaming service. Most of the original main cast is set to return, with Miranda Cosgrove, Jerry Trainor, and Nathan Kress posing together on set to confirm their involvement. However, one significant person is noticeably absent: Jennette McCurdy. McCurdy played Carly's best friend and sidekick, Sam, and eventually got her own spin off, Sam & Cat.

McCurdy so far has not commented on the upcoming revival and appears to not be involved in any capacity. However, if you know a little bit of McCurdy's life as a child star and beyond, this isn't that surprising.

After Sam & Cat ended in 2014, McCurdy acted on and off in small roles. Her mother died in 2013, she turned to alcohol to cope. In a 2020 interview with Elite Daily, McCurdy admitted that her time as a child star left her without the emotional tools to cope with her grief in a healthy way. She quit acting altogether in 2016. "I had to kind of fight the demons on my own time," McCurdy said. "I went dark. I went off of social media. I quit acting. I had to make these pretty big life decisions in order to deal with my stuff, my life."

McCurdy revealed in a personal essay on Huffington Post in 2019 that her time on Nickelodeon caused her to develop an eating disorder and that she resented a lot of her time on iCarly and Sam & Cat. McCurdy wrote in the essay that she was uncomfortable with the idea that she was considered a "role model" and didn't love the fact that her "great contribution" to society was "walking onto an over-lit Nickelodeon set shouting lines about fried chicken."

McCurdy explained to Elite Daily that "a lot of therapy" has gotten her to a much better place, but that her memories about her time as a child actress are complex, to say the least. "I'm not fully there yet," McCurdy admitted. "I still have complicated feelings toward my past from my experience with Nickelodeon. It's something that I work on. I'd like to get to a place of peace with my past. That would be great."

Still, McCurdy credits iCarly for bringing her "lifelong" friendships with the main cast and crew. "I would not have such an enjoyable life if these people weren't in it," she said. "The human connections you have with people is always what determines whether, ultimately, something is a good or bad experience."

McCurdy may have quit acting in the traditional sense, but she is still creative. She wrote a one-woman show called I'm Glad My Mom Died that got postponed by COVID that she has plans to perform once it's safe to do so. She also hosts a podcast called Empty Inside.

Netflix Adds Irish Language Version of 'The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge on The Run'

Cé a chónaíonn in anann faoin bhfarraige?

The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge on The Run, the brand new film based on Nickelodeon's beloved animated series, SpongeBob SquarePants, is set to become the first ever Irish language movie to be made available on Netflix!

While the film is voiced in English by Tom Kenny (SpongeBob), Keanu Reeves (Sage) and Matt Berry (Poseidon), well-known Irish actors Marcus Lamb, Lochlainn O’Mearáin, Brian Thunder, Carmel Stephens and TV presenter Daithí Ó Sé have taken on the roles in the Irish language version of the film.

The U.S.-English audio track of the movie sees the cast of SpongeBob SquarePants reprise their respective roles - Tom Kenny (SpongeBob and Gary), Bill Fagerbakke (Patrick Star), Rodger Bumpass (Squidward), Carolyn Lawrence (Sandy), Clancy Brown (Mr. Krabs), Douglas Lawrence (Plankton), Jill Talley (Karen), Mary Jo Catlett (Mrs. Puff), and Lori Alan (Pearl) - as features a raft of guest stars, including: Keanu Reeves (as a tumbleweed named Sage), Awkwafina (as Otto), Matt Berry (as King Poseidon), Reggie Watts (as the  Chancellor), Danny Trejo (as El Diablo), Tiffany Haddish (as Master of Ceremonies) and Snoop Dog (as The Gambler; a Zombie Cowboy).

However, in the Gaeilge (Gaelic) dub of the film, locally titled Spongebob an Scannán: Rith, Spúinse, Rith, well-known Irish actors Marcus Lamb, Lochlainn O’Mearáin, Brian Thunder, Carmel Stephens and TV presenter Daithí Ó Sé take on the roles.

Paramount Animation and Nickelodeon Movies partnered with TG4 and Macalla to create the Irish language version of the recently released film.

SpongeBob SquarePants, his best friend Patrick Star and the rest of the gang from Bikini Bottom star in the first-ever all CGI SpongeBob motion picture event.

After SpongeBob’s beloved pet snail Gary is snail-napped, he and Patrick embark on an epic adventure to The Lost City of Atlantic City to bring Gary home. As they navigate the delights and dangers on this perilous and hilarious rescue mission, SpongeBob and his pals prove there’s nothing stronger than the power of friendship.

Cúán Mac Conghail, executive producer from Macalla said: “It’s a pleasure for Macalla to work on SpongeBob, a character we have been re-voicing for TG4 since 2006.

“We were excited to work with TG4 and Paramount Pictures to create the Irish language version for the movie, Spongebob an Scannán: Rith, Spúinse, Rith. It’s fantastic that the Irish language version of the movie is now available on Netflix and accessible as Gaeilge to young and old.”

TV Presenter Daithí Ó Sé who voices King Poseidon in Irish said: “King Poseidon is an exuberant character who is somewhat full of himself.  Thankfully, not like me at all, so I had to dig deep to act the part!

“He was a fun character to play. Because of Covid 19 restrictions, we recorded the character voice from home, and my young son was eavesdropping for some of the recording. He is delighted his Dad has a starring role in the movie!”

For parents who may only have a ‘cúpla focal’ and need a refresher, The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge on The Run can be watched as Gaeilge with Irish voices and English subtitles to help. The settings can be changed easily in the Audio and Subtitles settings on Netflix.

Originally slated to be released in cinemas, Paramount Pictures and Nickelodeon Movies moved the release of The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge on The Run to streaming services due to the on-going COVID-19 (coronavirus) health emergency.

Internationally, The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge on The Run was released on Netflix in November 2020.

In Canada, the movie was released in theaters in August 2020, and is now available on Blu-ray and DVD.

In the U.S., The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge on The Run will debut on the Paramount+ streaming platform (currently name CBS All Access), along with SpongeBob spin-off Kamp Koral: SpongeBob’s Under Years, on Thursday, March 4, and will also be available on VOD services for a limited time.

The first two seasons (well, three combined into two) of iCarly, which starred Miranda Cosgrove, Jennette McCurdy, Nathan Kress and Jerry Trainor, are finally available on the streaming giant. Say it with us: Shoosh yeah!

After its premiere in 2007, the sitcom, created by Drake & Josh and Zoey 101 executive producer Dan Schneider, went on to become one of Nickelodeon's biggest hits, welcoming a line-up of guest stars that rivaled the Oscars and launching two spinoffs.

But the initial concept for the show was very different—and so was Carly's name. iJosie just doesn't have the same ring to it, right?

While iCarly ended its run in 2012, it was recently announced that three of the original stars will be reuniting for a revival series, set to premiere on Paramount+ in 2021. Will Carly be on TikTok now?!

In honor of the show's Netflix debut and upcoming revival, here are 15 behind-the-scenes facts you might not know about iCarly's original run...

WILLIAMS + HIRAKAWA/ NICKELODEON

1. After she spent three years as mischievous younger sister Megan on Drake & Josh, Nickelodeon wanted to give Miranda Cosgrove her own show. And the initial conceit might sound surprising to loyal viewers.

"My original idea was that she play a 'normal' girl who, in a twist of fate, gets cast to star in her favorite TV show," creator Dan Schneider revealed on his blog in 2009. "I even wrote the script. I called it Starstruck. The pilot I wrote (and turned in to Nickelodeon) was about Carly, a regular girl who gets cast to star in her favorite TV show."

2. While the network loved the idea for Starstruck, Schneider's plot for the show shifted after a conversation with his wife and his good friend, The Big Bang Theory executive producer Steven Molaro.

"I decided that it would be MUCH COOLER for Carly to create HER OWN show," he explained, "a show she could run herself, her own way, and do whatever she wanted to do -- A WEB SHOW."

3. Carly was not the first name Schneider had in mind for the main character.

It was actually Sam, while the original name for Sam's character was Kira.

4. The name changes went down after Schneider discovered the URL iSam.com was already taken. He also tried the name Josie—even buying the URL before deciding he "didn't like it" and  settling on Carly. "So, back in 2007, if someone hadn't already owned the URL iSam.com, then iCarly would likely have been called iSam," he explained on his blog.

"I came up with the name iCarly while filming on the set of Zoey 101," Schneider continued. "My friend Steve Molaro...was working with me, and we were trying to think of a good title for my new series about kids who start their own web show."

5. The character of Sam Puckett was written with Jennette McCurdy in mind after she guest-starred on Zoey 101.

"I loved her and thought she was a major talent," Schneider wrote in another 2009 blog post. "So when I was creating Carly's best friend Sam, I knew that Jennette would LIKELY play that role."

6. Nathan Kress revealed on Throwback With Nickelodeon of nearly almost quitting acting before landing the role of Freddie, Carly's BFF and technical producer.

"I wasn't doing enough where I felt like I wanted to stay involved in the industry," said Kress, adding "I was on my way out when that audition happened." Then he beat out upwards of 200 actors for the role."

7. The series most-watched episode—2010's "iSaved Your Life"—attracted 11.2 million viewers, making it, at the time, the second most-viewed telecast in Nickelodeon's history.

8. In 2012, Cosgrove was listed as the "Highest Paid Child Actress" by the Guinness World Records, earning $180,000 per episode.

9. After Carly's zany older brother and legal guardian Spencer (Jerry Trainor) cooked "spaghetti tacos" for dinner on the show, the meal went viral, even landing the cover of the Food & Wine section of The New York Times.

"It was just a little joke I came up with for one episode," Schneider told the publication in 2010. "Then it turned into a running joke. And now it's this thing people actually do."

10. Throughout its five-year run, iCarly welcomed a list of high-profile guest stars, including Michelle Obama, One Direction, Emma Stone and Jimmy Fallon.

11. While it was never stated on the show, Spencer became Carly's legal guardian when she was 12 years old.

And their father made his only appearance in the series finale, with David Chisum playing Colonel Steven Shay.

12. McCurdy revealed what was actually in Sam's infamous "butter sock" during a 2015 interview with the Huffington Post.

"Although I am tentative to crush any person's childhood dreams, it was not filled with butter. It was batteries to give it some weight, with Styrofoam around them, wrapped with duct tape," she revealed. "I feel like Nathan [Kress] was probably the receiver of a few accidental butter-sock whacks."

13. After iCarly ended in 2012, Nickelodeon ordered a spinoff centering on fan-favorite side character Gibby (Noah Munck).

The sitcom would follow the oft-shirtless character after he gets a gig at a recreational center where he winds up as a mentor to four offbeat middle-school students. While the pilot was filmed, Nickelodeon didn't order Gibby to series.

14. Another spinoff, however, did make it to air: Sam & Cat, which starred McCurdy and Ariana Grande as their respective iCarly and Victorious characters, premiered in 2013 and became an instant hit for Nickelodeon.

But the show never returned for a second season after reports of "discord" on the set and rumors about salary disputes. Season one was extended to 40 episodes, with 36 of those produced.

15. Last December, it was announced that iCarly is being revived by Paramount+ (currently known as CBS All Access), with Cosgrove, Kress and Trainor all reprising their roles.

The new series is being developed by Jay Kogen (School of Rock the series) and Ali Schouten (Diary of a Future President, Champions, Merry Happy Whatever). McCurdy isn't expected to reprise her role, however.

Bonus Fact 1: Cosgrove's Drake & Josh co-star Drake Bell (The Amanda Show) can be heard on the iCarly theme song, "Leave It All To Me"! Not only that, the song was written by Michael "Backhouse Mike" Corcoran, one of Bell's band members, who married to Victorious star Liz Gillies during summer 2020!

Bonus Fact 2: Following its original run, Nickelodeon gave fans the chance to win iconic props and items from the set of iCarly!
