'SpongeBob SquarePants' Becomes the Longest Running Animated Kids Show

SpongeBob SquarePants has now surpassed Arthur’s record to be the longest running animated kids show of all time

Nickelodeon's beloved animated series SpongeBob SquarePants has been in the midst of celebrating its landmark 25th anniversary this past year, but now it has officially overthrown Arthur to become the longest running animated series for kids of all time!

Fans have been getting to see animated hits of all kinds go on to very long runs of episodes, and that has been especially the case with many adult sitcoms like The Simpsons, South Park, Family Guy, American Dad and more which had recently celebrated their own 35th, 26th, 25th, and 20th anniversaries, respectfully. But this same success has been seen with children’s animation as well with many crossing over some huge milestones too.

SpongeBob SquarePants has been one such case as it not only officially kicked off its 25th anniversary celebration last year, but the fact that it continues to be in production means it is going to hit even more impressive milestones in the near future too. As pointed out by @Toonhive on X/Twitter, SpongeBob SquarePants has now officially become the longest running animated children’s show of all time. Beating a record previously held by the PBS Kids classic, Arthur.

SpongeBob Becomes Longest Running Animated Kids Show

Arthur first aired with PBS Kids in October 1996, and ran for 25 seasons across 26 years with the final episode airing back in 2022. The series finale offered a much more conclusive ending than fans of the long running animated adaptation ever expected as Arthur and his friends had aged into adulthood through a special time skip that revealed their future careers. Arthur, for example, actually became an artist that ultimately illustrated all of his adventures as a kid and turned that into the “Arthur” series itself. So it was a real full circle moment when it all came to an end.

But with the series ending its production, and SpongeBob SquarePants having no plans to end any time soon, Arthur no longer holds that record. The Nickelodeon animated series currently only has about 15 seasons under its belt of regular episodes, but it’s become an entire universe that has spread across multiple shows, feature films, and more in the years since its debut. SpongeBob SquarePants now being the longest running animated children’s show is a huge honor, and is likely not going to lose this record in the future. It’s still just as popular as it ever was.

What’s Next for SpongeBob?

As SpongeBob SquarePants continues with new episodes of its own show and The Patrick Star Show, but the series is continuing with all sorts of other new entries such as a brand new movie coming to Netflix next month. Plankton: The Movie will be exclusively streaming with Netflix beginning on March 7th, and is written (and stars) Mr. Lawrence. The film also stars longtime members of the SpongeBob SquarePants cast such as Jill Talley, Tom Kenny, Bill Fagerbakke, Carolyn Lawrence, Clancy Brown, and Rodger Bumpass. There is also a brand new movie coming to theaters soon.

The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie: Search for SquarePants is currently slated to release in theaters beginning on December 19th. Very little has been revealed about this film as of the time of this publication, but it has teased that it will have a large focus on the Flying Dutchman’s Ghost. Mark Hamill will be the voice of the Flying Dutchman in the upcoming film, who will be replacing Brian-Doyle Murray (who had voiced the character in his appearances in the TV series). But as we get closer to its release, we’ll likely see more of what to expect soon enough. There could also be a new character-centric spin-off in the ocean pipeline, too..

Waxwork Announces 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: Secret of the Ooze' Original Score Vinyl

Though it might not have as much love from fans as its predecessor, there’s no denying the power of Vanilla Ice’s “Ninja Rap” from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: Secret of the Ooze and now Waxwork Records is bringing it back with a new vinyl pressing of the film’s original score complete with the hit song! The vinyl, which will be available to pre-order starting Friday, February 5 can be viewed in the gallery below!

Released in 1991 as the highly anticipated sequel to 1990’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, The Secret of the Ooze follows the adventures of four Turtles: Leonardo, Donatello,  Michelangelo, Raphael and their Master Splinter. Resuming from the events of the first film, The Shredder returns to take back command of the Foot Clan and work towards getting revenge on the Turtles. When he learns the secret behind the Turtles’ mutation, he becomes more dangerous than ever. The film sheds light on the origins of Splinter and the Turtles, as well as introduces two new villains: Tokka and Rahzar!

Lifted from the pages of the popular comic series, a wildly successful Saturday morning cartoon, and a massive hit-line of toy action figures, the motion picture adaptation of the beloved crime fighting turtles brought the TMNT franchise to the next level! The gritty and dark NYC martial-arts-superhero-comedy features the four cherished ninja turtles with a slew of other idolized characters such as Master Splinter, Shredder, Casey Jones, April O’Neil, and The Foot!

In collaboration with composer John DuPrez, TMNT co-creator Kevin Eastman and Nickelodeon, Waxwork Records is proud to present the official and complete 1991 score to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Secret of the Ooze for the first time in any format. 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Secret Of The Ooze' Film Score Getting First Ever Release with Waxwork Records

Waxwork Records has announced that, following re-releasing the original score to the 1990 live-action Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles film in October 2018, the company, which specializes in lux soundtrack vinyl treatments, will be releasing the score of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Secret Of The Ooze for the very first time in any format as part of their 2020 Subscription service!

Released in 1991, the cult favorite Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Secret Of The Ooze follows on from the events from the first Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie. Shredder returns to take back command of the Foot Clan, and works towards getting revenge on the Turtles. When he learns the secret behind the Turtles' mutation, he orders head TGRI (Techno-Global Research Industries) scientist Professor Jordan Perry to use the ooze to mutate an Alligator Snapping Turtle and a Gray Wolf, resulting in the creation of Tokka and Rahzar, the Turtles' and April O'Neil's (Paige Turco) biggest threat yet!


Available for the very first time in any format, the complete TMNT Part II: The Secret Of The Ooze film score by John DuPrez will now be made available to fans. This one is sourced from the original 1991 master tapes, and in partnership with Nickelodeon and TMNT co-creator Kevin Eastman.

TMNT Part II: The Secret Of The Ooze is one of five 180 gram colored vinyl soundtracks featured in Waxwork Records’ 2020 Subscription offer (20202 batch), and will be joined by the soundtracks of cult movies Henry: Portrait Of A Serial Killer (1986), Friday The 13th Part VII: The New Blood (1988), Friday The 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan (1989), and Jacob’s Ladder (1990).

Selena Gomez Breaks Huge Record & Has Won the Most Blimps of Any Celeb at Kids Choice Awards

Hopefully Selena Gomez will be able to make some room in her trophy closet! The "Wolves" singer has just broken a major Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards record, becoming the most winningest nominee in history.

The 26-year-old singer and actress had been tied with Will Smith with 10 blimps, which she picked up between 2009 until now.

At the 2019 KCA's Gomez took home the orange blimp award in the category of Favorite Female Voice from an Animated Movie for her work in Hotel Transylvania 3. The honor marks her 11th career blimp win and puts actor Will Smith, who Gomez was previously tied with, in second place, as he's earned 10 Kids Choice Awards in the span of his career.

Past awards for Selena Gomez have included 5 wins Favorite TV Actress for Wizards of Waverly Place and 4 wins for Favorite Female Singer. Back in 2014 she also won the Selenators award which rounded off her blimps to 10 in total before last nights big win.

Kids Choice Awards might not be the only honors Selena Gomez receives in the near future, considering she revealed that her latest album is currently coming together in the studio. During an Instagram live chat with fans, the "Hands To Myself" artist said that she's making some important decisions and is happy with the way things are turning out.

"I’m currently in the studio and it’s going really good. I’m just nervous about it, honestly, 'cause I feel like the next few choices that I’m gonna make are very crucial. So I’m trying to be really really diligent and just patient with everything."

It's almost entirely impossible to separate great movie moments from the music that soundtracked them. With something as generationally adored as The Rugrats, it is even more impossible, especially when you consider the paramount artists that were tasked with contributing to the film. Legends, fleeting hit makers, and revered songwriters alike were all involved in couching the film in colorful sonics that bolstered the movie's impact. Even Blondie's monster single "One Way Or Another" got a facelift for a punchy cover by Cheryl Chase, the voice of Angelica. What speaks to the movie's overarching impact is the eclectic nature of the artists and the tracks themselves, ranging from hip-hop, to R&B, to pop, and rock as well.

The great Mark Mothersbaugh (of Devo fame) produced the soundtrack with signature touches that added connective fabric to the entire release. In fact, Mothersbaugh wrote the TV show's opening theme as well as its catchy lead single, "Take Me There," which went Platinum in the U.S. and charted at No. 14 on the Billboard Hot 100. 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' 1990 Movie Film Score Getting First Ever Release with Waxwork Records

COWABUNGA! Waxwork Records has announced its next release will be none other than the original score to 1990 live-action film Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles!

As any child of the '90s will immediately recall, this marked the first motion picture adaptation of the crime-fighting, pizza-loving heroes in a half shell. And while the film was a huge hit, the complete score has actually never been released on any format (though a various artists soundtrack album featuring none other than MC Hammer did arrive alongside the film), and a complete presentation of DuPrez’ music has long been one of the most highly demanded pieces of TMNT ephemera.

This will now change thanks to Waxwork, which on Friday (October 19) will release the complete score to TMNT by John DuPrez. Buy the score here.

The release comes as a collaboration with not only DuPrez, but also TMNT co-creator Kevin Eastman and Nickelodeon. For the 2-LP release, the two slabs of vinyl will contain all of DuPrez's music made for the film, with the entire score being restored and remastered.

TMNT OST: the Michelangelo package

The album art, which you can see above, was created by Eastman. The vinyl itself will arrive as two 180-gram coloured LPs, with a total of eight — yes, eight — vinyl variants available (one each for Leonardo, Michelangelo, Donatello, Raphael, Casey Jones, April O'Neil, Master Splinter and The Foot) pressed onto double vinyl with art designed by Turtles creator Kevin Eastman exclusively for this release. The packaging will feature old style tip-on gatefold jackets with satin coating and include a 1990 TMNT film poster postcard.

Nickelodeon has announced the Nickelodeon / Big Time Rush News in the 'Nickelodeon Stars' section of the (geo-locked) official Nickelodeon USA website, Nick.com, that, while doing a interview through a live video stream hosted by Cambio, BTR boyband member Logan Henderson, who portrays the character 'Logan Mitchell' in the hit Nickelodeon original comedy series "Big Time Rush", announced that, although it won't be apart of their third musical album, the Nickelodeon Boy Band are hoping to release new songs in Spanish in the future, and hinted that Big Time Rush may be planning to also release a album featuring acoustic tracks sometime in the future:

The BTR boys have fans all over the world. And they heart their Rushers abroad so much, they may have a special surprise in the works! In a live stream hosted by Cambio, Logan Henderson sat down for a quick Q and A. And one of his answers brought great news to his foreign fans! Plus, it kinda made us want to brush up on our language skills...

In the interview, Logan revealed that Big Time Rush might be taking on a whole new language just to connect with their fans. After being asked if the third BTR album will include a song in Spanish, Logan replied, "I'm not so sure that the third album will have a song in Spanish, but we are planning on putting out some songs in Spanish and maybe even doing an acoustic album!"

Can you imagine Logan, Carlos, James and Kendall singing sweet serenades en Espanol? Sounds fantastico! But the guys may have to do a little bit of practicing first. "I need to work on brushing up my Spanish though, for sure," Logan admitted. Well, if Logan needs a tutor, we've got the perfect gal in mind...and she goes by the name of Dora [The Explorer]! :)

In January 2012 he won the BBC’s Sound of 2012 poll. Kiwanuka has since toured the US and Europe and was nominated for the Mercury prize for his debut album, Home Again. In 2011, he toured with Adele. The 25-year-old has won many fans thanks to his voice. Listening to his debut album he could fool you into thinking that you were listening to a long-lost Bill Withers record.

HAIM

There are many things great about the 80s: neon, Michael Jackson's Thriller and the launching of MTV. Another one: its sound. HAIM, an LA-based band of three sisters in their 20s, brings an 80s vibe to its music. The trio been making waves in the music world with its nu-folk, rock and R&B inspired sound since the release of their debut EP Forever in February. For the line-up, you have Danielle Haim (vocals, lead guitar), Alana Haim (vocals, rhythm guitar, keyboards, percussion), Este Haim (vocals, bass), Dash Hutton (drums). The Fresh Beat Band: More Music From The Hit TV Show Vol 2.0 album will feature 20 kid-friendly tracks including the band's most popular songs from all three seasons of the Emmy award-winning live-action TV series, as well as some covers of pop favorites including "Let's Get Loud," "Twist and Shout" and the classic '80s track, "We Got the Beat." Season three guest star Jason Mraz is also featured on the album in a duet of his chart-topper, "I'm Yours," with the Fresh Beats. The Fresh Beat Band -- Kiki (Yvette Gonzalez-Nacer), Marina (Tara Perry), Twist (Jon Beavers), and Shout (Thomas Hobson) -- kick off the second leg of their hugely popular nationwide concert tour today in Florida and will travel to 62 cities across the country, performing in 75 shows. Additionally, a 7th New York performance was added on Sept. 19 and will go on sale Aug. 24. Tickets and Fresh Beat Band VIP packages are available at www.freshbeatbandlive.com and www.ticketmaster.com.

In celebration of the tour's commencement, the band will participate in a live Q&A on Saturday, Aug. 25, at 4 p.m. (ET) via their Facebook page, www.facebook.com/freshbeatband.
