NICKELODEON’S TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES™: SECRETS OF THE SEWER™

Exhibit opens May 26, 2018 and runs through Sept. 2, 2018



Omaha, NE - Experience the first-ever museum exhibit featuring the four heroic ninjas-in-training — Nickelodeon’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles™ at the Omaha Children’s Museum this summer! Leap to the rescue and learn teamwork, collaboration, and problem-solving as you work your way through puzzles, mazes, and obstacles. Explore their sewer-like lair, where good guys win and bad guys lose! Since 1984, these four iconic brothers have rocked it with their talent and teamwork, inspiring generations. Now families can join these pizza-eating, crime-fighting Heroes in a Half-Shell to hone their ninja skills and problem-solving intellects while learning the secrets of the sewer!


The Turtles are known and respected for their teamwork. As the TMNT’s sensei and adoptive father Splinter often tells them, “Together there is nothing you cannot accomplish.” Through team-building challenges, collaborative games and mind-teasing puzzles, families and friends will learn skills to help them successfully work together. Here are a few examples:

- Pizza Thrower (a device that shoots out pizza pies).

- Obstacle courses through the turtles’ sewer lair

Calling all ninjas! Are you ready for a challenge? This ninja training includes a variety of mental and physical challenges that your team will work together to complete.

Inventor Workshop with Donnie
Fellow ninjas-in-training, Donnie needs your help to design and build a spy bot to help us learn more about the Kraang’s plans to invade Earth!


Climb through the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Maze.

The Turtles took the comic book world by storm in 1984—and since then Donnie, Raph, Leo and Mikey have brought Turtle Power to cartoons, movies, video games and toys! Children and families across the nation will have the opportunity to explore Nickelodeon’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Secrets of the Sewer as it travels to children’s museums and science centers coast to coast.

Kim Reiner, the museum’s director of PR and marketing: “This is a once-in-a-few-years thing that we’ll bring in something big like this. It will be very recognizable for both the kids who are growing up on it now and for adults like us who remember when it first came out.” (The heroes in a half-shell have been fighting crime for 34 years.)

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles opens Saturday, May 26 and will run through Sunday, September 4, 2018. The exhibition is presented by Mutual of Omaha, with additional support from Douglas County, Nebraska; Godfather's Pizza; Papio-Missouri National Resources District; Oriental Trading; Futuramic's Clean Water Center; and Rainbow Child Care Center. The exhibit was produced by The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis in cooperation with Nickelodeon.

Additionally, Omaha Children’s Museum will be hosting the Ninjas On The Run Family Fun Run on Saturday, May 26 at 9:00am!

Join OCM for a family fun run to ninja kick Omaha Children’s Museum’s summer into high gear. Ninjas On The Run Family Fun Run will be a short sprint along 20th Street by the museum. Costumes are encouraged! Registration for Ninjas On The Run Family Fun Run is free for all ages; please register everyone participating. JoJo Siwa and Cra-Z-Art's Nickelodeon Slime Kits Win Big at 2018 International Licensing Awards

The International Licensing Industry Merchandisers’ Association (LIMA) has announced the fantastic news that Nickelodeon snapped up two awards at the 2018 International Licensing Awards!


Honoring the industry’s best products and programs across 22 categories—including licensing, retail, promotions and consumer products—the 2018 LIMA Licensing Awards saw Nickelodeon star Jojo Siwa (pictured) win in the Best Film/TV/Entertainment – Live-Action licensed program category, while Cra-Z-Art took home the top prize for Best Toys/Games/Novelties/Role-Play (0 to 12) in the Licensed Product category for its Nickelodeon Slime kits.

For the 2018 International Licensing Awards, 132 nominees from 16 countries were recognized with nominations in categories including licensing, retail, promotions and consumer products, with each nominee vying for the industry’s most prestigious and globally-recognized honor. A record 42% of this year’s nominees originate from outside the U.S. – up from 25 percent from last year – demonstrating the increasing international reach of the awards program. This years winners were revealed at the LIMA Awards Ceremony on Tuesday, May 22, during Licensing Expo in Las Vegas.

This year’s winners’ circle comes as global revenue from licensed goods and services grew by 3.3% to US$271.6 billion in 2017, according to LIMA’s newly released Annual Global Licensing Industry Survey. The Entertainment/Character category continues to lead the way, accounting for US$121.5 billion, or 44.7% of the total global licensing market. In terms of royalties from sales of licensed merchandise and services, revenue increased by 2.6% to US$14.5 billion.

After the Entertainment/Character category, the second-largest industry segment, Corporate Trademarks, generated US$55.8 billion at retail for 20.5% of total revenue. The Fashion and Sports segments were the third- and fourth-largest in the market with US$32.1 billion and $26.5 billion in revenue, respectively.

Among product categories, Apparel, Toys and Fashion Accessories continues to comprise the largest share of the business, while Home-related categories, Infant and Video Games/Software/Apps all delivered higher growth than the overall 2017 average. In addition, rising sales in the Music and Celebrity categories were driven by more social media influencers building their own brands, while publishing-based properties and art licensing saw some of the biggest growth (despite having smaller roles in the overall business).

Geographically, the US and Canada remained the largest global market for licensed products last year, representing a 58% share. And of all worldwide regions, North Asia and LatAm were the fastest-growing with 6.2% and 7.6% year-on-year growth, respectively, driven by higher revenue in China, Hong Kong, Japan and Brazil.

Further excerpts from the LIMA Annual Global Licensing Survey will be published in future issues of LIMA’s Inside Licensing, and the complete report, including regional and country-by-country breakdowns for major markets, will be available to LIMA members for free later this summer. Brandar Consulting conducted the survey for the fourth straight year.

eOne Adds More U.S. CPG Partners For 'Peppa Pig'

Entertainment One (eOne) has secured a range of new best-in-class licensing partners to further support its the growth of its hit preschool brand Peppa Pig in the U.S. The beloved preschool property now has more than 1,000 licensees around the globe and over 80 in the U.S. alone.


From Colgate-Palmolive and Ginsey Home Solutions, to Give & Go, good2grow, and BAND-AID® Brand Adhesive Bandages, the latest CPG licensees will provide kids and families across the country with even more ways to engage with the fan-favorite brand. The top-rated Peppa Pig TV series airs daily on Nick Jr. in the US.

Peppa Pig continues to capture the imagination and affection of kids around the world and we’re excited to partner with these high-profile companies to introduce a wide range of products that will bring Peppa, her family and friends into their daily lives,” said eOne’s Joan Grasso, SVP, Licensing – North America, Family & Brands.


Among the notable new partners with products set to launch this year are:

- Colgate-Palmolive (oral care, including battery-operated and manual toothbrushes, and toothpaste)

- Ginsey Home Solutions (Made in the USA soft potty seats and other potty training products)

- Give & Go (baked goods featuring house-building and cookie-decorating kits)

- good2grow (100% juice beverages in containers with character toppers)

- Johnson & Johnson Consumer, Inc. (BAND-AID® Brand Adhesive Bandages)

Peppa Pig continues to generate over $1.2 billion in global retail sales per year. The show has over 165 global broadcasters, airs in over 180 territories, and has been translated in more than 40 languages. A new season is in production with 117 new episodes on the way, for a total of 381 episodes and a fresh pipeline of content through to Winter 2022.

The news follows Entertainment One revealing that its Family and TV businesses were offset by declines on the film side, with the global studio reporting overall revenue of US$1.39 billion in its year-end results.

The company’s overall fiscal revenue was down by 4% from US$1.49 billion a year ago, while underlying EBITDA was up 11% to US$236 million and before-tax profits climbed 116% to US$103 million.

In all, the company’s Family and Brands business posted revenue of US$184.4 million in the year ended March 31, up 56% from a year ago. That was spurred by continued growth for Peppa Pig and its various lines of business (including revenue of US$112.8 million, up from US$93.2 million last year, and US$2.4 billion in retail sales, compared with US$1.5 billion a year ago). eOne’s Family division also saw significant growth with PJ Masks, which saw its revenue increase by a whopping 261% to US$65 million.

eOne noted in the report that more than 40 million Peppa Pig books have been sold in China since the preschool brand launched there in April 2016. The property’s performance has been helped by significant exposure on national broadcaster CCTV and other VOD platforms in the region (including Tencent, iQIYI and Youku).

Peppa Pig licensing programs have recently kicked off in India (where it airs on Nick Jr.), Hong Kong, Korea, Singapore, Thailand, the Philippines, Taiwan, Vietnam, Mongolia and Mainland China. Earlier this month, eOne appointed Alpha Group as the master toy partner for the preschool property in China, with a line featuring play sets, figurines and role-play items set to debut later this year.

Despite stellar sales for Peppa Pig and PJ Masks, the company did note the negative impact of Toys “R” Us’ ongoing liquidations in the US and UK during the second half of the year. eOne expects there to be some short-term impact for its brands, and says it is monitoring the situation closely with its partners.

On the television side, revenue across eOne’s whole TV group (which includes eOne TV, The Mark Gordon Company, eOne’s music business and Secret Location) grew by 19%. Meanwhile, overall film revenue fell by 32% to US$535.5 million. The declines were attributed to fewer theatrical releases (144 in 2018 compared with 172 a year ago) and fewer home-entertainment releases (the company released 255 titles on DVD and Blu-ray in 2018, compared with 366 a year ago).

Nickelodeon Acquires International Broadcast Rights For Rainbow's '44 Cats'

The Italian Rainbow Group has entered into a major broadcast agreement with Nickelodeon for its brand-new preschool property 44 Cats.


Through the agreement, Nickelodeon International will broadcast the animated series (52 x 13-minute episodes) around the world, excluding in the U.S. and Latin America, in 2019.

44 Cats is inspired by a popular Italian song and follows the adventures of Lampo, Milandy, Pilou and Polpetta, four homeless kittens who take on anthropomorphic traits when no actual humans are around. When they find shelter in a garage, they transform it into a clubhouse whilst helping out their neighboring peers.

44 Cats is a stunning CGI comedy show aimed towards children aged 3-6 years-old that combines music, edutainment, top quality animation and acting. The show addresses important themes such as diversity, friendship, altruism and helping others, elements that give the new pre-school property a huge international appeal to succeed in the global market.



The series is the first Rainbow Group production jointly developed with Bardel Entertainment, the Canadian animation studio it acquired in 2015, and also marks Rainbow’s (Winx Club, Regal Academy, Mia and me, Maggie & Bianca Fashion Friends) inaugural foray into preschool programming. Italian broadcaster RAI is co-producing, and will premiere the toon later this year.

The news follows Rainbow partnering with Nickelodeon Latin America (Latinoamรฉrica) for the networks brand-new original eSports-themed scripted live-action series N00bees.

Rainbow launched 44 Cats at MIP Junior in Cannes in October 2017. The glittering cocktail party featured lots of entertainment, offering guests a taste of the show atmosphere. One of Rainbow’s artists was at the party to show how a 44 Cats character is drawn; a band performed hits including songs from the series and guests could enjoy funny moments dressing up as cats at the special 44 Cats photocall area, where an official photographer was on hand to take amazing snaps. The evening was a PAWsome success and the best way to celebrate the launch of such a meowing new show.
