Today (Jan. 20) was an very important day in the United States of America, with Joseph R. Biden officially becoming the county's 46th president. To mark the occasion, actor Lily Collins today shared a special candid throwback photo on Instagram from when she covered Barack Obama’s inauguration for Nickelodeon in 2008!
Lily captioned the photo: "Happy Inauguration Day!
This is me at @barackobama’s inauguration in 2008 when I was reporting on the big day for Nickelodeon. It was freezing (hence being bundled up in emergency blankets!), but nothing was going to stop me from embracing such a monumental moment. Even at 18, I really felt the weight of that day - what it meant for us as a country and I was so excited to be there. Today is no different. I am beyond thrilled to see a new administration — President @joebiden and Vice President @kamalaharris — take office and start paving the way towards a brighter future. Hopeful that this is the beginning of some very good and necessary change..."

Nick News Mini: To celebrate National Voter Registration Day, actor Lily Collins today shared a special throwback photo on Instagram when she was 19 and working on Nickelodeon's Kids Pick the President for the 2008 U.S. election, which also marked the first presidential year that was was eligible to vote!
"It was 2008. I was 19, so it was the first presidential year I was eligible to vote. I was working for Nickelodeon at the time, part of their show called Kids Pick the President. We spoke to people about the vote and how kids could [get] involved. I had done a lot of research, asked a lot of questions. When it came time for Election Day, it was such a big day for me. I can remember everything about it. My mom and I went together. I was wearing a light pair of jeans and a gray long-sleeve sweater.
I have a photo of myself actually placing the ballot in the box. When we left, having the sticker and being like, "Oh my God, I just did it," felt so empowering. I kept my “I Voted” sticker on all day and then stuck it on a piece of paper with the words, "First time voting, 19 years old" on the back. I remember feeling like I had truly been part of history.
That night, I was driving with my mom in the car. I have an image of driving down Sunset Boulevard, staring at Tower Records, which is very LA. At a stoplight, the results were coming in, and we were turning up the volume. I remember Obama being in the lead. It was so joyous. I remember hearing and seeing people honking and celebrating in the streets. History was being made, and we had to make as much noise as possible."

Não tem como negar que a Nickelodeon tem algumas das séries mais icônicas dos anos 2000. Todo mundo tem boas lembranças quando pensa em “Drake & Josh“, “Normal Demais“, “The Naked Brothers Band” e claro que “Manual de Sobrevivência Escolar do Ned“.
A série gira em torno de um grupo de três amigos: Ned (Devon Werkheiser), que escrevia dicas para sobreviver na escola depois de ser humilhado no jardim de infância; Moze (Lindsey Shaw), uma garota durona mas com o seu lado fofo, que é jogadora de basquete e viciada nas aulas de marcenaria; Cookie (Daniel Curtis Lee), o nerd que sabe de tudo sobre tecnologia e ter criações doidas durante os episódios.

Acho que o Cookie foi mais afundo nas coisas de tecnologia e se tornou o CEO de uma grande empresa. Moze provavelmente continua trabalhando com madeiras mas faz tratamento para controle de raiva. Ned continua escrevendo dicas pra ele e para os seus amigos, e está treinando para ser o novo Gordie – o faxineiro. Eles eram modelos para cada um. Ou Ned poderia ser o diretor. Ou ele poderia ensinar educação física.”
