Nickelodeon closed July as the number-one network with Kids 2-11 (2.2/645K; up +16% over last year) and Kids 2-5 (2.6/296K, +13%). Nick’s July win was driven by its live-action and animation lineup, which delivered TV’s top show with Kids 2-11 (The Loud House) and the top show with Kids 6-11 (The Thundermans). Nickelodeon is also the number-one destination for preschoolers for July and the year to date, with the month’s top 5 preschool programs on all TV belonging to Nick (#1 PAW Patrol, #2 Shimmer and Shine, #3 Blaze and the Monster Machines, #4 Bubble Guppies, #5 Team Umizoomi).

NEW YORK--July, 19, 2016—Just as it finishes its 50th straight week at number one with Kids 2-11, Nickelodeon notched back-to-back wins this weekend with record-setting, best-ever performances from its third annual Kids’ Choice Sports awards and Henry Danger, the net’s live-action hit which stands as the top-rated kids’ show on all TV this year. Kids’ Choice Sports 2016 and Henry Danger also blitzed this week’s basic cable rankings by settling into the top two spots with Kids 2-11 and Kids 6-11, with Kids’ Choice Sports 2016 a close second only to top-ranked Henry Danger.

Simulcast on Nickelodeon, Nicktoons and TeenNick, Nickelodeon’s Kids’ Choice Sports 2016 (Sunday, July 17, 8-9:30, all times ET/PT) scored its highest K2-11 and K6-11 ratings to date, boasting double-digit increases among Kids 6-11 in particular. Kids’ Choice Sports 2016 posted a 4.6/1.3MM among K2-11 (up +5% over last year’s show) and a 6.1/1.1MM with K6-11 (up +11%). The show also scored 2.5 million total viewers across Nick’s TV platforms. Additionally, the show also was the top TV pick with Kids 2-11 and Kids 6-11 among the week’s other sports-themed content, besting by triple digits shows like the 2016 ESPY Awards, ESPN Home Run Derby, and FOX’s All Star Game.

Voting on Nick.com and the Nick Apps increased by +40% over last year.

Hosted for the second straight year by Seattle Seahawks two-time Super Bowl quarterback Russell Wilson, Nickelodeon’s Kids’ Choice Sports 2016 featured a roster of mega-sports star winners like Stephen Curry, LeBron James, Alex Morgan, Cam Newton, Ronda Rousey, Odell Beckham Jr., Rob Gronkowski, Leticia Bufoni, Usain Bolt, Simone Biles and Wilson himself. The only show where kids celebrate their favorite athletes and the year’s most unforgettable sports moments, Kids’ Choice Sports bestowed NBA All-Star Kobe Bryant with this year’s Legend Award, and then doused him from head to toe in glistening gold slime.

Nickelodeon’s Henry Danger advanced its current standing as TV’s top show with Kids 2-11 and Kids 6-11 with another milestone—achieving its all-time highest ratings ever with Kids 2-11 and Kids 6-11 for its Sunday-night episode (July 17, 7:30 p.m.). Henry Danger over-indexed its current series average by double digits in all kid demos: Among K2-11, it averaged a 5.0/1.5MM, up +50%; a 6.7/1.2MM with K6-11, up +56%; and it drew 2.6 million total viewers, up +46%.

For July 11-17, 2016, which marks Nickelodeon’s 50th straight week at number one, Nick was again the number-one network with K2-11 (2.4/696K; up +20%) and K2-5 (2.7/301K; up +23%), while tying for first with K6-11 (2.2/395K; up 22%)--its strongest weekly showing with this demo since the beginning of this year. The week’s top kids’ show also all belong to Nick: 9 of the top 10 with Kids 2-11; 7 of the top 10 with Kids 6-11 and 6 out of top 10 with Kids 2-5.

Nickelodeon’s gains this week also follow its winning performance during the recently completed second quarter, where it topped Kids 2-11 and Kids 2-5 ratings and lodged the top shows, as well. In 2Q ’16, Nick was home to 6 out of the top 10 kids programs with Kids 2-11 (#1 Henry Danger, #2 The Loud House, #3 The Thundermans, #5 SpongeBob SquarePants, #7 School of Rock, #9 ALVINNN!!!); 5 out of the top 10 preschool shows (#1 Team Umizoomi, #2 PAW Patrol, #4 Blaze and the Monster Machines, #6 Bubble Guppies, #8 Shimmer and Shine); and 5 of the top 10 shows with K6-11 (#1 Henry Danger, #2 The Thundermans, #6 School of Rock, #8 The Loud House, #9 Bella and the Bulldogs).

Nickelodeon, now in its 37th year, is the number-one entertainment brand for kids. It has built a diverse, global business by putting kids first in everything it does. The company includes television programming and production in the United States and around the world, plus consumer products, online, recreation, books and feature films. Nickelodeon And Russell Wilson Unveil Kids' Choice Sports 2016 Plans

Many of the USA's top athletes will be taking the new stage at Nickelodeon's Kids' Choice Sports 2016 on Thursday 14th July 2016. Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson will be returning to host Nickelodeon's third annual Kids' Choice Sports awards ceremony at UCLA's Pauley Pavilion in Los Angeles where sports stars Cam Newton, Rob Gronkowski, Stephen Curry, Serena Williams and LeBron James are among the night's nominees. To celebrate, The Wrap has unveiled a first-look at Nickelodeon's Kids' Choice Sports 2016 stage and a fantastic interview with Russell Wilson and Nickelodeon veteran, Jay Schmalholz, the producer of Nickelodeon's Kids' Choice Sports 2016!:

Russell Wilson Promises That Nickelodeon’s ‘Kids’ Choice Sports 2016’ Is ‘Going to Be Monumental’ (Exclusive Photos)

“Sliming Kobe Bryant for the Legend Award is a big, big deal to me,” the NFL quarterback-turned-awards-host tells TheWrap

Nickelodeon’s “Kids’ Choice Sports 2016” is going to be bigger, better and slimier than ever — or so host and former Super Bowl champion Russell Wilson claims.

“Last year was epic, this year is going to be monumental,” the Seattle Seahawks quarterback and second-time host told TheWrap. “We have bigger challenges, we have the Splash Brothers [NBA stars Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson] shooting three-point challenges, we have Rob Gronkowski running around.”

But the moment that he is most excited about involves Los Angeles Lakers legend Kobe Bryant, who retired earlier this year after 20 years in the NBA.

“Sliming Kobe for the Legend Award is a big, big deal to me. He has been such a major factor in the game of basketball all over the world for so long,” Wilson said.

With Nickelodeon having honored David Beckham and Derek Jeter as “legends” over the past two years, “part of the ritual and the honoring is the gold slime,” producer Jay Schmalholz revealed. “Russell has a few tricks up his sleeve and Kobe is in for a real surprise,” he promised.

As for the rest of the show, which will be taped live from UCLA’s Pauley Pavilion in Los Angeles on Thursday and premieres on Nickelodeon on Sunday at 8 p.m. ET, “we have definitely taken the challenges and we’ve monster-sized them,” Schmalholz continued.

“The set design alone really talks about the massive scale. Then, of course, the athletes taking part in the challenges keep getting bigger and bigger as well. Kids love seeing them compete against one another on a new turf.

“We have something called Smash Mountain, which will be [NFL players] Rob Gronkowski and Antonio Brown going head-to-head on a 75-foot ramp as a flood of 300 balls come tumbling down. They have to find the balls with their name on them and run back up hauling a sledgehammer, then smash three items to find a code and unlock their locker and get a medal,” he explained.

“It’s full of athleticism, fun and playfulness. Gronk is a big kid and so are we, and that’s what makes this game so unique.”

As for Wilson returning for the second year just like he did in two consecutive Super Bowls, “Russell is back because Russell is awesome. He did such a good job for last year, we were like, ‘Why change it up?'” Schmalholz said.

“He is a quarterback and he knows how to run the game.”

Wilson said the biggest challenge last year as host was perfecting his timing — especially when being bombarded with slime. “I got crushed — it took me a while to get that stuff off as I had to go backstage and shower. At least being married to an entertainer teaches me how to get in and out of these sessions a little quicker,” he explained.

Of course, the NFL star is referring to singer Ciara, whom he married in a romantic ceremony at England’s historic Peckforton Castle in Tarporley, Cheshire, on July 6.

“We wanted to have a special private wedding, we wanted to go away … we thought about doing it in the States but decided, ‘Let’s get married in a cool destination,'” he said about the unique location.

“It took a lot of work [to find], our wedding planner Mindy Weiss is unbelievable. The best part about the wedding was watching [Ciara] walk down the aisle. She was so stunning, it is a blessing to be with somebody who is such a special mom — she takes care of the little man [Future Zahir] all the time,” he gushed. “Then we had Earth, Wind and Fire play … they just brought down the house, they played so many great hits and kept the party going all night.

“I hadn’t been to Cheshire before — and it didn’t rain!” Wilson added, referring to the notoriously damp area of Northwest England. “It was really pretty there, it turned out just right for us.”
