HOLLYWOOD, Calif.–Nov. 22, 2022– Nickelodeon is getting into the holiday spirit with a new variety special, The Great Nickmas Tree Sliming… Hosted by That Girl Lay Lay. The hour-long special premieres Thursday, Dec. 15, at 7p.m. (ET/PT) and features slime, surprises, singing, dancing, special celebrity appearances and musical performances, culminating in the grand finale–an epic Christmas Tree Sliming.

In The Great Nickmas Tree Sliming… Hosted by That Girl Lay Lay, Lay Lay accidentally zaps Santa’s sleigh out of the sky. Christmas will be cancelled unless Lay Lay, her celebrity friends and Nick stars help Santa fix the sleigh to deliver presents.


The special will feature: celebrity appearances from Drew Barrymore, Keke Palmer, Hayley Kiyoko, Elsa Majimbo and Boss Baby Brody; appearances from Nick stars Isaiah Crews, Gabrielle Nevaeh Green, Young Dylan, the cast of Danger Force (Terrence Little Gardenhigh, Havan Flores, Dana Heath, Luca Luhan), Squishy Dumplings, Lincoln Loud (Bentley Griffin) and Clyde McBride (Jaeden White); and musical performances by That Girl Lay Lay, Tinashe, Pentatonix and Good NEWZ Girls.

The Great Nickmas Tree Sliming… Hosted by That Girl Lay Lay is produced by Done + Dusted in association with Nickelodeon Productions. In 2021, Good NEWZ Girls were formed by the mighty music minds of Tyran “Ty Ty” Smith and Jay Brown in partnership with Nickelodeon. Their mission was to assemble a group with universal appeal. Good NEWZ Girls is a multicultural foursome of singers, dancers, and actors who each come from film, TV and theater-despite still being fun-loving teens.
 
The members of the Good NEWZ Girls include 18-year-old Mikaela Astel from Queens, New York; 18-year-old Nayah Damasen from the Bay Area; 17-year-old Isabel Gonzalez from Teaneck, NJ; and 18-year-old Baylee Morrison from Macedon, NY. Together, the four prodigies are a sonic force, exhibited exquisitely with their debut release, Winter Getaway.

Nickelodeon Cancels NickFest Music Festival

Nickelodeon has announced that the first ever NickFest has sadly been canceled.


Nickelodeon‘s first music festival, which was to take place October 22nd and October 23rd will no longer be happening. The festival’s reasoning for canceling is due to market conditions.

“Although we were very excited to bring the Nickelodeon brand experience to you through a music festival, we made the difficult decision to cancel after giving significant thought to the challenges facing families today,” they shared in a statement.

MONSTA X, Dixie D’Amelio, Joshua Bassett, That Girl Lay Lay, Young Dylan, Good NEWZ Girls, Olivia O’Brien, The Kid LAROI and more were all set to take the stage that weekend. NickFest was also going to showcase one-of-a-kind immersive experiences, rides and other interactive activities featuring the brand’s most beloved shows and characters, including SpongeBob SquarePants, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Nickelodeon Slime.

Nick fans who purchased tickets already need not to worry, as “all current ticket holders will be issued a full refund at their point of purchase.”

They also note that if you have any questions about your refund, to reach out to TIXR.

There's currently no word on whether NickFest will be held in 2023.

  • Sunday, Oct. 23: The Kid LAROI, San Holo, Tai Verdes, Joshua Bassett, beabadoobee, LP Giobbi, Charly Jordan, G Flip, Kiiara, Little Jet, Ian Asher, 99 Goonsquad, Addison Grace, Ryan Prunty, Good Newz Girls, That Girl Lay Lay, Young Dylan and the cast of Monster High: The Movie.
 
NickFest will also showcase one-of-a-kind immersive experiences, rides and other interactive activities featuring the brand’s most beloved shows and characters, including:

  • SpongeBob SquarePants Krusty Krab & Fry Cook Games: The nautical world of SpongeBob SquarePants and the Krusty Krab comes to life with an interactive game where guests can compete to assemble Krabby Patties. 
  • Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’ Training Course: Fans can enter the Turtles’ lair, to run, jump, climb through an interactive obstacle course.
  • That Girl Lay Lay’s Roller Rink: Kids and families will grab a pair of skates and take a spin around That Girl Lay Lay’s disco roller rink while top Nickelodeon talent perform live on the adjacent stage.
  • Slime Central: Only the bravest Nick kids--young and old--should step up to the Slime generator, where multiple fans will get slimed IRL!
  • Nickelodeon Ferris Wheel: Guests can soar the skies on a Nickelodeon ferris wheel and experience NickFest from above.
  • You As Your Favorite Nick Character: Nick fans can get their own portrait in the style of their favorite Nickelodeon character with the help of a live character artist.
  • Nickelodeon Food Village: Featuring food stalls, food trucks, carts and hawkers throughout the festival, guests can sample themed food items from Nick shows.

In addition, the October festival will offer seasonal Halloween celebrations and surprises, including costume contests and themed experiences such as:

  • Loud House Hay Maze: As attendees make their way through the Loud House Hay Maze, they will uncover photo opportunities and unique surprises around every corner.
  • Pumpkin Patch: With Halloween around the corner, kids and families can pick their very own pumpkin in the patch, with a fun pumpkin painting project at the picnic tables.
  • Spookify Your Look: The NickFest glam station will give fans the opportunity to get into the Halloween spirit and transform their look into a Nickelodeon-inspired or their very own character.

NickFest will feature a VIP ticket that includes: access to special performance viewing areas, expedited entry, VIP parking, premium lounge access, dedicated concessions and more.

Dylan Newman Joins Music & Talent Team at Nickelodeon

Dylan Newman is joining the Music & Talent team at Nickelodeon.


In his new role at Nickelodeon, Newman (pictured) will focus on the company's artist roster, which includes Nick talent Young Dylan, That Girl Lay Lay, and the newly launched girl group Good NEWZ Girls, amongst other duties within the company.

Newman started in the business in the mailroom at Sony Music Entertainment in Beverly Hills, then moved to A&R at Columbia Records, followed by a stint at Epic Records where he worked on the promotion team. After Epic, he joined the A&R and Project Management team at kIDINAkORNER (JV with Universal Music Group. Most recently, he was consulting for an independent label, Violent Noise Records, where he served as A&R and Project Management, with some guidance in Digital Marketing.

Newman said, "I am pleased to announce I will be joining the Music & Talent team at Nickelodeon, and I want to thank Tim Weatherspoon, Kristina Rodriguez, and Lisa Rochette for the opportunity. I am excited to join a remarkable company with a track record of innovative and groundbreaking shows and talent. New Jerseyan Selected To Be Part of New All-Female Group, “Good NEWZ Girls” | PIX11


When you start singing when you’re 7 years old, and you inform your mom that you want a manager that same year, chances are that laser focus is going to result in success.   

Such is the story of Isabel “Isa” Gonzalez of Teaneck, New Jersey.  She is now one of the voices of the Nickelodeon formed group, “Good NEWZ Girls“.  Their debut E-P, Winter Getaway , was released just a few weeks ago along with music videos for their first two singles, “Let it Snow,” and “Holiday Gift.”  

PIX11’s Marysol Castro talked with Isa about being part of this new band, making holiday music videos and what she has planned next.

Good NEWZ Girls: Nickelodeon Forms New Girl Group in Collaboration With Ty Ty & Jay Brown Productions

HOLLYWOOD, Calif.--Nov. 19, 2021--Today, Nickelodeon, in collaboration with Tyran ‘Ty Ty’ Smith & Jay Brown Productions, announced the formation of a new pop/R&B girl group called Good NEWZ Girls. Their debut debut EP “Winter Getaway” is available to stream on all platforms HERE. 

The members of Good NEWZ Girls are:

  • Mikaela Astel (17 years old from Queens, NY) – Mikaela competed on season 16 of The Voice and was featured in the Blind Auditions and Battle rounds. 
  • Nayah Damasen (17 years old, from Burbank, CA) – Nayah is currently in production in the live-action television movie musical, Monster High (working title), slated to premiere in 2022 on Nickelodeon.
  • Isabel Gonzalez (16 years old from Teaneck, NJ) – Isabel performed with Acapop! KIDS musical group, which was co-founded by Pentatonix’s Scott Hoying.
  • Baylee Morrison (17 years old from Macedon, NY) – Baylee performed the National Anthem for major league sporting events including the NFL (Bills), NHL (Sabres), and NASCAR Dover International.
 
To commemorate their holiday-themed debut EP, Good NEWZ Girls today released their first-ever music video for “Let It Snow” at 10 a.m. (ET) on the Nickelodeon YouTube channel.  On Monday, Nov. 29, at 12 p.m. (ET), the group will premiere their second music video, “Holiday Gift,” on the AwesomenessTV YouTube channel that will include appearances from social media influencers Larray, Mads Lewis and Kelianne Stankus.

This is a rare music group created by a TV network outside of a reality series. (There are no current plans for Good NEWZ Girls to headline a series for Nick.) This is part of a new larger Nickelodeon music strategy to develop and sign young artists and market them within the Nickelodeon ecosystem and externally.
