Nickelodeon UK To Get 'Fantasy' Rebrand In March 2009
From Broadcast Now:
Nickelodeon UK to get 'fantasy' rebrand
Nickelodeon UK is being handed a new on-air look that will then be rolled out to the company's other international channels.
The rebrand was devised by Peter Drake, vice-president of Nickelodeon UK, and creative and art director Akin Akinsiku. It was an 18-month project and blends live action with 3D animation to unify reality and fantasy.
Drake told Broadcast that the concept behind the channel's new look was "to make connections with real-world situations but then to transfer them into the world of a child's imagination".
There will also be only one version of the channel's signature 'splat' logo: at present there are several. The new logo will roll out online as well as on screen.
All the 3D work was created and produced at Mainframe by a team led by Adam Jenns. The sound design was done by Ian Chatham at Blue Post Production and the music created by Blasé Music.
The redesign, which was produced in the UK, will air here on 7 March before it is rolled out internationally. The channel was last rebranded three years ago. There are no plans as yet to rebrand the channel's sister station Nick Jr.
Nickelodeon UK kicks off its spring season with The Elephant Princess on 20 February.
The 13 x 30-minute Shiff Productions series is about an ordinary teenage girl who discovers that she has magical powers and is the heir to the throne of the enchanted kingdom of Manjipoor.![]()

Drake and Josh Christmas Special
Merry Christmas, Drake & Josh
Drake and Josh will be returning to your screens for a BRAND NEW Christmas movie!
Don't miss the premiere on Sunday December 21st at 10am, only on Nickelodeon!
Also, from PR Newswire-FirstCall, via Yahoo! Finance:
The big comic adventure reuniting Nick's superstar duo Drake Bell and Josh Peck unfolds as a mall Santa and his sack of toys - alias Drake and Josh - promise an adorable little girl that her foster family will have "the best Christmas ever." It's a pledge that will change their holiday and their lives - and one that's tough to keep after Drake's antics at a holiday party land responsible Josh in the slammer. Both boys are hauled into court after Drake tries to break his brother out of jail, and Judge Newman (Henry Winkler) rules that if little Mary Alice (Bailee Madison) and her family don't have the best Christmas ever, it's back behind bars for Drake and Josh. Little sis Megan's (Miranda Cosgrove) clever pranks keep a heartless parole officer at bay, but the guys bump heads and clash on the path to make good on their unbreakable promise, leaving kids to expect the unexpected - including Josh's ex-cellmate Bludge (Kimbo Slice) making an appearance as a rather unusual Santa. Bell rings in the season with rockin' renditions of Jingle Bells and The 12 Days of Christmas.

Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards UK 2008 Nominees Press Release
From Nickelodeon UK:
Embargoed until 12.01am 28 July 2008
The Doctor’s Assistants fight it out
for top TV honour
It’s sonic screwdrivers at dawn for Catherine Tate and Freema Agyeman as they compete for the title of Favourite Female TV Star at the
Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards…
…and Doctor Who is nominated for a record four awards!
The nominations are in for the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards UK which is back for its second year!
Forget the Daleks and the Cybermen, Doctor Who’s Catherine Tate and Freema Agyeman are about to have the biggest fight of their time travelling career to date as they take on each other for the accolade of Favourite Female TV Star at this year’s Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards along with Hannah Montana’s Miley Cyrus and iCarly’s Miranda Cosgove.
The Time Lord himself, David Tennant, is also amongst the nominees as he will be battling it out with Robin Hood’s Jonas Armstrong and American stars Dylan Sprouse (Suite Life) and Josh Peck (Drake & Josh) to take home the Nickelodeon Blimp for Favourite Male TV star.
Following their latest attempt to conquer Earth, can the Daleks exterminate the competition to win Favourite Baddie? They have tough competition in the form of SpongeBob SquarePant’s arch enemy Plankton, WWE bad boy Randy Orton and TV’s original Mr. Nasty himself Simon Cowell!
Doctor Who makes it a record four nominations as it goes head to head against Cowell’s reality juggernauts The X Factor and Britain’s Got Talent as well as the hugely popular Harry Hill’s TV Burp in the Favourite Family TV Show category.
This year also sees a battle of the boogie as some of the country’s top dancers compete for the title of Favourite Winner; Britain’s Got Talent’s dancing sensation George Sampson, Dancing on Ice’s Suzanne Shaw and Strictly Come Dancing’s Alesha Dixon will all be bopping for glory against singing supremo Leon Jackson from The X Factor.
Harry Hill completes a hat-trick of nominations as he battles for Favourite TV Presenter against Dermot O’Leary, Holly Willoughby and last year’s winners Ant & Dec, and for Favourite Funny Person where he faces tough competition again from Ant & Dec, Catherine Tate and pretenders to the comedy throne, Dick & Dom.
Following his outstanding win at the British Grand Prix, Lewis Hamilton is hoping he can race to victory and take the title of Favourite Sportsman but Liverpool and England ace Steven Gerrard, WWE star John Cena and last year’s winner, David Beckham will all be hoping Nickelodeon viewers vote for them.
Nickelodeon is the UK’s number 1 commercial kids’ TV network watched by almost 11 million viewers every month. All Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards winners are chosen by kids – the best critics of all! Kids cast their votes online at www.nick.co.uk/kca and via the red button their TV remote. Kids can enter to win tickets simply by voting. Voting commences 28 July and closes on 1 September.
Last year’s inaugural event was hugely successful with top rocker presenters McFly kicking off proceedings and a multitude of stars, including BAFTA Award winner David Walliams, Harry Potter star Emma Watson, X Factor winner Shayne Ward, dance floor booty-shakers ‘Booty Luv’ and famous faces from Drake & Josh, Hollyoaks, Coronation Street and EastEnders presenting, performing and picking up their coveted Nickelodeon Blimp awards.
TV babe and queen of presenters Holly Willoughby donned snorkel and mask to dive into the world famous Nickelodeon green slime as she was inducted into the Nickelodeon Hall of Slime. Holly is the latest in a long list of A-list slimees including Orlando Bloom, Harrison Ford, Justin Timberlake and Cameron Diaz; but who will join the ranks of the showbiz elite by getting slimed in 2008?
This year’s event will take place at London’s Excel on Saturday 13 September in front of a specially invited audience of 2,500 kids (all competition winners) and will be broadcast a week later (20 September) exclusively on Nickelodeon with subsequent broadcasts on Nick Replay (+1 channel), MTV Hits and TMF – it is sure to be the most spectacular family television event of the year!
Watch out for the announcement of some of the hosts and presenters in the coming weeks…
