'Avatar: Seven Havens' Premiere Date, Trailer Unveiled at SDCC 2026

The new Paramount+ series comes from the original Nickelodeon show’s creators Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko

Avatar: Seven Havens, the latest series set in Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko's beloved Avatar: The Last Airbender universe, will premiere globally on Friday, October 9. The news was announced during San Diego Comic Con on Thursday (July 23) with Nickelodeon and Avatar Studios sharing a first teaser for the highly anticipated new series.

The October 9 premiere date should stick out to fans, as it was originally the date set for the premiere of the movie Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender, before that release was moved up to Saturday, July 25. How the series will rollout (boxset drop or regularly released episodes) is still being determined.

The Avatar franchise is set in a universe where people called benders are able to control one of four elements: water, earth, fire and air. Only the Avatar, someone who emerges once a generation, is able to control all four elements. The franchise has followed the various Avatars over the year. The Last Airbender followed Aang, an airbender who was the last of his time and who helped the world escape the rule of the Fire Nation. The Legend of Korra followed a waterbender named Korra who opened the portals between the physical and spirit worlds, a decision that was originally made by the first Avatar Wan. Korra did so because she believed these two realms were meant to coexist. Now Seven Havens will show audiences what happened after Korra.

Seven Havens follows a young earthbender who becomes the Avatar during a time when the Avatar is thought to be humanity’s destroyer rather than its savior. In this new and dangerous world, she will be hunted by human and spirit foes alike. Only by joining forces with her long-lost twin can the sisters uncover their mysterious origins and save the Seven Havens before civilization itself collapses. Check out the first trailer below:

Per the official logline, the new show “centers around a young Earthbender who discovers she’s the new Avatar after Korra in a world shattered by a devastating cataclysm. In this dangerous era, that title marks her as humanity’s destroyer, not its savior. Hunted by both human and spirit enemies, she and her long-lost twin must uncover their mysterious origins and save the Seven Havens before civilization’s last strongholds collapse.”

The upcoming series stars Saheli Khan as Pavi, Aishu Devan as Nisha, Akshay Khanna as Karthik, Major Curda as Jae, Sakina Jaffrey as Agam, Darren Barnet as Daemin, Dianne Doan as Zi and Dee Bradley Baker as Geet and Ruhi.

Avatar: Seven Havens is created by franchise masterminds Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko, who also serve as executive producers via Avatar Studios. Ethan Spaulding is an executive producer as well, with Sehaj Sethi as co-executive producer. Nickelodeon and Avatar Studios produce. There will be 26 episodes in the first season of the show.

Like past Avatar shows, Seven Havens is divided into two “books” comprised of 13 episodes each.

This year, the world of Avatar took over Comic Con’s Hall H for the first time thanks to a panel highlighting The Last Airbender spinoff movie, Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender. The panel featured a conversation with cast members Eric Nam, Dave Bautista, Román Zaragoza, Jessica Matten and Dionne Quan as well as co-creators Konietzko and DiMartino and director Lauren Montgomery. Janet Varney, the original voice of Korra, moderated the panel.

Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender is set to debut with a special screening at San Diego Comic-Con on July 24 before its streaming release the next day. The film is also playing a one-week awards qualifying run in theaters in New York and Los Angeles in lieu of the full theatrical release it was originally supposed to get.

Avatar: The Last Airbender premiered on Nickelodeon in 2005 and ran for three seasons. It is widely regarded as one of the greatest animated series of all time, and was followed by sequel series The Legend of Korra, which premiered in 2012 and ran for four seasons.

Nick Jr. UK to Welcome 'The Marsupilamis' on July 20

Nick Jr. UK & Ireland will premiere The Marsupilamis, a brand new 3D animated series that follows twins Jade and Mica who find their world turned upside down when their explorer parents entrust them with three mysterious eggs, on Monday 20th July 2026. The series will air weekdays at 10:00am, will same day replays at 2:00pm.

Every day's full of laughter and fun with the Marsupilimis - Hope, Twister, and Punch. Join them with Twins Jade and Mica for adventures and lots of laughs - as long as the Marsups remain unseen!

In the series premiere episode, Jade's struggles to multitask in 'Jade the Juggler', and then in 'Parcel Chase', the Marsups miss an important parcel delivery. (S1, ep 1)

Ellipse Animation and Belvision announced their partnership with Nickelodeon last year. The partnership will see Nickelodeon broadcast The Marsupilamis (52 x 11’) worldwide, excluding the U.S.A. and China.

“This fresh take on the iconic character, created over 70 years ago by Belgian author André Franquin, brings the legendary Marsupilami from the wild Palombian jungle into the heart of the city,” said Nickelodeon, which is part of Paramount, now owned by Skydance Media.

Media-Participations’ animation production companies Ellipse Animation (The Smurfs, The Garfield Show) and Belvision (Asterix: The Mansions of the Gods, Zombillenium) are coproducing the new series based on the classic cartoon character. Mediatoon Distribution and Mediatoon Licensing, also part of the family-owned group, are handling international sales and consumer products, and recently introducing The Marsupilamis respectively to MIPCOM and Brand Licensing Europe (BLE).

The Marsupilamis has also been commissioned by other major broadcasters including M6/Gulli in France, RTBF and VRT in Belgium, RTS in Switzerland and Radio Canada.

“Slated to launch in 2026, the comedic, action-packed new series follows twins Jade and Mica who find their world turned upside down when their explorer parents entrust them with three mysterious Marsupilami eggs,” according to a plot description. “Once they hatch, the siblings must get creative to keep their new friends hidden – after all, no one knows these energetic creatures exist, and predators could be lurking around every corner.”

Created over 70 years ago by Belgian artist & writer André Franquin, Marsupilami has become one of the most iconic characters in comic-book history, having been adapted numerous times for television, cinema and videogames. With its eight-meter-long tail, unmissable spotted fur and a distinctive “Houba”-based language, this creature has captured the imagination of kids and families across generations.

In the new animated series, the legendary Marsupilamis swap the wild Palombian jungle for an even wilder place: the city. There, twins Jade and Mica find their world turned upside down when their explorer parents entrust them with three mysterious Marsupilami eggs. Once they hatch, the siblings must get creative to keep their new friends hidden — after all, no one knows these energetic creatures exist, and predators could be lurking around every corner.

The series targets children aged five and up. It is directed by Célestine Jacquel-Plays (Grizzy and the Lemmings), with Andrew Barnett Jones and Ciaran Murtagh (The Amazing World of Gumball) as head writers and Guilhem Deckers (Minions 2) as artistic director. Through a comprehensive 3D production pipeline, the creative team has expanded visual and narrative horizons, blending situational comedy and action-packed scenes.

New 'Secret' Avatar: The Last Airbender Series In Development

A brand new "secret" Avatar: The Last Airbender TV series is currently in the works, it has been revealed!

Speaking to GamesRadar+ at Comic-Con International: San Diego 2026 about what's coming up next for Avatar: The Last Airbender, Michael Dante DiMartino, the co-creator of Nickelodeon's iconic Avatar franchise, teased "There's stuff in development, just TV shows in production, but not features at the moment."

"We have another secret thing in production, but yeah, it's on the series side," added co-creator Bryan Konietzko. "To be clear, we're series people, so that's okay to us. Features is a new thing to us."

We already knew something was in the works thanks to previous comments from Konietzko. "The [Avatar] Aang movie was just one of a whole slate," he shared. "I'm working on another thing, which we'll announce when the time's right."

The news comes at the first project announced under Nickelodeon's Avatar Studios label, the movie Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender, is released on Paramount+ on Saturday, July 25. This will be followed by the brand new series, Avatar: Seven Havens, set to premiere on Paramount+ on Friday, October 9.

The original plan was for three feature-length films, however, things have changed slightly since Paramount merged with Skydance. The first of these changes were announced in December, with Paramount+ becoming the home of all new Avatar content produced under the Avatar Studios label. Beforehand, Avatar Aang was originally slated for theaters, and Avatar: Seven Havens for Nickelodeon.

Paramount has announced the lineup of movies, TV shows, and live sports coming to Paramount+ in August. The Paramount Plus August 2026 schedule brings a mix of high-stakes drama, fan-favorite competition series, and marquee live sporting events.

The month is anchored by the return of Taylor Sheridan’s hit espionage thriller Lioness Season 3 (August 2), starring Zoe Saldaña, Michael Kelly, Morgan Freeman, and Nicole Kidman, alongside the debut of new docuseries Special Ops TRUE (August 4), which revisits some of the most high-profile military missions of the last several decades with unseen footage.

Reality fans can also gear up for The Challenge: Cutthroat Season 42, premiering August 5, while Average Joe returns for its second season on August 19 with a globe-spanning adventure that raises the stakes for Joe and his crew.

Sports fans can tune in all month long for a knockout slate of live events, including UFC 330: Makhachev vs. Machado Garry (August 15), multiple UFC Fight Night cards, the historic 10th season of Dana White’s Contender Series (August 11), where UFC hopefuls compete for the opportunity to earn a UFC contract, and Zuffa Boxing 10 (August 8).

Paramount+ also features continued coverage from the PGA Tour FedEx Cup (August 15-16), WNBA action, the UEFA Super Cup, and the return of European club soccer across the English Football League, Serie A, and Coppa Italia. Plus, NFL ON CBS preseason action on August 28 features the Cincinnati Bengals against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Rounding out the month, Paramount+ adds a wide range of library films, from acclaimed dramas and sci-fi favorites to beloved comedies and cult classics, including Blade Runner 2049, Gravity, Clue, Best in Show, You’ve Got Mail, The Bodyguard, and The Hangover trilogy.

The fast-paced 1v1 fighter is available now for $29.99 USD SRP on PlayStation^® 5 and PC via Steam, featuring full cross-play support from day one. The Standard Edition of AVATAR LEGENDS™: The Fighting Game is also available today on Nintendo Switch. The launch coincides with a major San Diego Comic-Con celebration, where the Avatar franchise takes over Hall H for a special panel.

Set within the iconic worlds of Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra, AVATAR LEGENDS™: The Fighting Game delivers fluid combat, expressive bending abilities and competitive gameplay designed for both fighting game veterans and newcomers. Players master the elements across a diverse roster of fan-favorite characters, combining strategic depth with fast-paced, accessible action.
