Star Trek Online to celebrate 14th Anniversary with In-Game Event

Redwood City, Calif. (January 23, 2024) – Gearbox Publishing and Cryptic Studios announced today that Star Trek Online: Both Worlds, the 31st season of their long-running free-to-play Star Trek MMORPG, is available now on PC and will launch on PlayStation and Xbox consoles on March 12, 2024. This new season has players continue last season’s multiverse story as they must face the Borg King, the architect behind the multiversal threat in Star Trek Online. This new season marks fourteen years of the beloved Star Trek MMORPG exploring and expanding the iconic Star Trek universe, as Star Trek Online is celebrating its 14th anniversary. To celebrate this milestone, the development team at Cryptic Studios is releasing brand new content that pays homage to various Star Trek series in the iconic franchise.

Star Trek Online’s latest major update, Both Worlds, pays a loving tribute to various Star Trek series featured in the game over the years. In Both Worlds’ new featured episode, “Scorpion’s Abyss”, players continue the multiverse story from the game’s last season update as they must face the Borg King. This episode includes Star Trek series original cast members reprising their roles as characters in the game, including Nicole de Boer returning as Star Trek: Deep Space Nine's Ezri Dax, Garret Wang as Captain Harry Kim from Star Trek: Voyager, and Kipleigh Brown as Captain Kuumaarke from Star Trek: Enterprise. Along with this Star Trek celeb-filled episode, Both Worlds introduces a new Task Force Operation (TFO) that lets players relive one of the Star Trek franchise’s most classic moments, the “Battle of Wolf 359”, fought during the events of Star Trek: The Next Generation. In addition, this new update lets players take on a new in-game event, “King and Collective”, and have the option to jump into challenging Random Elite TFOs with other players.

Star Trek Online: Both Worlds introduces the following new features:

New Episode – Scorpion’s Abyss

  • The Aetherians report a new Reality Vortex in Fluidic Space and ask for help to close it. There, you find Mirror Borg using the vortex as a beachhead for an assault on the multi-verse. A daring mission into a Mirror Borg Unicomplex puts you face to face with the Borg King.

New Task Force Operation – Battle of Wolf 359

  • This new 5-player space Task Force Operation will let you relive the greatest battle against the Borg at Wolf 359. Learn from the past to defend the present.

Season 31 Event – King and Collective

  • For this new event, players can play selected content to earn a new T6 ship.

Elite Random Task Force Operations Feature

  • This new quality-of-life improvement feature will give players the option to queue up for Random Elite TFOs to score extra rewards.
