Starring Kenan Thompson (Saturday Night Live) and Kel Mitchell (Game Shakers), who were among the original cast members of the popular Nickelodeon sketch-comedy series All That, and et in Chicago, the show follows the kid-friendly misadventures of two high-school friends who are always scheming and dreaming. Kenan, who works at a grocery store, constantly devises crazy plans to strike it rich, while orange-soda-loving buddy Kel is always dragged along for the ride despite his track record for messing things up.
The series ran for 65 episodes over four seasons between 1996 and 2001, however, in a recent interview, Kenan has revealed that misadventures of Kenan and Kel were set to continue in a spin-off series!
Speaking to Deon Cole on his show Funny Knowing You show, Kenan revealed that a follow-up series — Kenan & Kel: The College Years — was pitched to The WB.
The idea was meant to bridge the gap between childhood fame and adult storytelling, allowing both actors to grow with their audience. Unfortunately, however, the network ultimately passed on the project.
