December 23, 2025 – Paramount+ today announced its expansion of the beloved Avatar Universe with animated film THE LEGEND OF AANG: THE LAST AIRBENDER (WT) and new 2D series AVATAR: SEVEN HAVENS, both from Avatar Studios.

THE LEGEND OF AANG: THE LAST AIRBENDER (WT) will premiere exclusively on Paramount+ in Fall 2026 and features an all-star cast including newly announced Taika Waititi, Geraldine Viswanathan, Dee Bradley Baker, Freida Pinto and Ke Huy Quan, joining previously announced Dave Bautista, Eric Nam, Jessica Matten, Dionne Quan, Román Zaragoza and Steven Yeun.

Based on the original series Avatar: The Last Airbender created by Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko, the film will be directed by Lauren Montgomery with Steve Ahn and William Mata co-directing. Latifa Ouaou, Maryann Garger, Bryan Konietzko and Michael Dante DiMartino serve as producers. Award-winning composer Jeremy Zuckerman returns to score both the film and series.

"The Avatar Universe has captivated audiences for two decades, and Paramount+ is proud to be the exclusive streaming home for its beloved animated incarnation," said Jane Wiseman, Head of Originals for Paramount+. "THE LEGEND OF AANG: THE LAST AIRBENDER and AVATAR: SEVEN HAVENS represent the next evolution of storytelling from Avatar Studios—bringing together remarkable talent both in front of and behind the camera to deliver the epic adventures and emotional depth fans have come to expect. THE LEGEND OF AANG: THE LAST AIRBENDER (WT): Avatar Aang, the world's last Airbender, learns of an ancient power that could save his culture from extinction. With the help of his friends, he embarks on a global quest to find it before it falls into the wrong hands and threatens to upend the peace they sacrificed everything to achieve.

AVATAR: SEVEN HAVENS: Set in a world shattered by a devastating cataclysm, a young Earthbender discovers she's the new Avatar after Korra—but in this dangerous era, that title marks her as humanity's destroyer, not its savior. Hunted by both human and spirit enemies, she and her long-lost twin must uncover their mysterious origins and save the Seven Havens before civilization's last strongholds collapse.

Produced by Nickelodeon Animation, AVATAR: SEVEN HAVENS consists of Book 1 (13 half-hour episodes) and Book 2 (13 half-hour episodes). Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko serve as co-creators and executive producers. Ethan Spaulding is executive producer, and Sehaj Sethi is co-executive producer.

These new offerings join The Legend of Korra and Avatar: The Last Airbender on Paramount+, with the original series ranking among Nielsen's Top 100 most-streamed titles during 17 of 139 weeks since its debut on the platform in March 2023.

How Everybody Loves Raymond Honored Late Child Star Sawyer Sweeten During Reunion

Ray Romano, Patricia Heaton and more Everybody Loves Raymond alums reunited to celebrate the show’s 30th anniversary, where they paid tribute to their late costars, including Sawyer Sweeten.

Content warning: This story discusses suicide.

It was a bittersweet Everybody Loves Raymond reunion.

For the show's 30th anniversary, stars Ray Romano, Patricia Heaton, Brad Garrett as well as former child stars Madylin Sweeten and Sullivan Sweeten came together to reminisce about the show and its legacy. Still, they took a moment to pay tribute to their costars, including Madylin and Sullivan’s onscreen and real-life brother Sawyer Sweeten, who died by suicide at 19 in 2015.

"So Sawyer, of course, is no longer with us, and we miss him," Ray said during the Nov. 24 CBS reunion, special before turning to Sawyer’s sister and twin brother. "And he was, just like you are, just this bright energy, light."

Sawyer’s siblings—who played Ray and Debra’s kids Ally and Michael opposite his Geoffrey—went on to reflect on the difficult time surrounding his death.

"None of us really expected what happened," Sullivan, 30, explained. "But I try to think about the good moments and oftentimes, that's here on the set."

Those good moments included, "Playing in the bleachers and the prop room," Sullivan recalled. "I'm a sucker for a happy ending, and the final scene with everybody gathered around the table has got to be my favorite memory."

And for Madylin, 34, it was important to highlight the importance of suicide prevention when talking about Sawyer and his life.

"It is the second leading cause of death between the ages of 18 to 25. But 90 percent of people who seek treatment are cured," she emphasized. "And so many of the messages that we get are people saying, 'I'm so grateful to have heard about your brother. He saved my life.'"

In addition to remembering Sawyer, the Everybody Loves Raymond cast also took time to celebrate the legacy of late cast members Doris Roberts and Peter Boyle, who played Ray's parents Marie and Frank Barone.

Patricia, who played Ray's wife Debra Barone, remembered her onscreen mother-in-law's strong work ethic.

"Never stopped working," she noted, "on hiatuses, always working."

Meanwhile, Ray noted that Doris—who died in 2016 at age 90—also spent time "taking acting classes," to which Patricia added, "and directing plays."

As for Peter, according to Ray, his onscreen dad—who died in 2006 at age 71—was "pretty much the opposite" and more of "a kind of Renaissance man."

One detail they can all agree on? There won't be a reboot of Everybody Loves Raymond.

"We're never gonna do one, because we're missing three cast members, three family members," Ray explained. "So we would never try to do the show without them."

Series creator Phil Rosenthal agreed that a reboot wouldn't be the same, adding that the show continues to live on in reruns.

"We have too much respect for the show itself and for the beautiful audience," he noted, "to keep it the way it is."

After all, the original Everybody Loves Raymond also serves as a tribute to the entire cast.

"Ninety percent of everything you saw on the show happened to me, or to Ray, or to one of the other writers," Phil said. "What I didn't realize, and what I learned from us doing that [was], ‘Oh, wait, your parents are all crazy too.'"
