Paramount+ Streams Into Its Second Birthday Down Under.

August 11, 2023 – No longer a babe, Paramount+ has streamed its way into its second birthday with audiences loving the mountain of entertainment available on Australia’s premier streaming service.

Bypassing the crawl, walk, run stages, Paramount+ is flying with audiences making it the fastest growing streaming service in Australia in its first 18 months.

Since August 2021, Paramount+ has offered entertainment for all tastes and age groups in Australian households with something for everyone including blockbusters, new originals and exclusive series, hit shows and kids’ favourites.

Aussies have LOL-ed, sobbed and swooned with iconic star-studded hit drama series, riotous comedies and epic feature films like 1883, South Park, Last King of The Cross, 1923, Tulsa King, HALO, Top Gun: Maverick, Yellowjackets and Five Bedrooms, just to name a few.

But there’s even more with Special Ops: Lioness, The Inspired Unemployed (Impractical) Jokers and The Betoota Advocate Presents all streaming now, The Appleton Ladies’ Potato Race premiering last month and One Night streaming from September 1.

Plus NCIS: Sydney is currently in production while a second season of Last King of The Cross has been commissioned further bolstering an exciting content pipeline for audiences on Paramount+.

With 22 commissions since its launch, Paramount+ has commissioned more local productions than any other streamer in the same timeframe demonstrating a commitment to invest in the Australian screen industry.

Beverley McGarvey, Executive Vice President and Chief Content Officer and Head of Paramount+, Paramount Australia and New Zealand (ANZ), said: “We continue to invest in local content because that’s what our audiences want to see. Australia has some of the industry’s best screen creatives so we’re truly making world class content for audiences here and overseas.

“The success of Last King of The Cross as the #1 new local series on Paramount+ as well as strong international sales, is testament to the high calibre of content we are commissioning and creating in Australia.

“Paramount+ is also home to an extraordinary breadth and depth of global content across all genres with an ever-expanding library of original series, hit shows, popular movies and live sports that has something for everyone to stream and enjoy.

“From global smash hit movies like Top Gun: Maverick, to gritty thriller Special Ops: Lioness, quirky and charming Australian stories like The Appleton Ladies’ Potato Race, to galactic adventures across the Star Trek Universe, plus a vast array of Nickelodeon kids’ content and all the best football action, Australian audiences are streaming our mountain of entertainment on Paramount+. We’re delighted to see strong and continued growth for our premium service in Australia.”

The non-stop football action continued on Paramount+ this year with fans catching every minute of the Liberty A-League Women and Isuzu UTE A-League Men seasons, the Emirates FA Cup, all the friendlies for the CommBank Matildas and Subway Socceroos, and the current international Winter Festival of Football and the Australia Cup.
