In February 2016, it was announced that the singer, songwriter, author and television personality had signed a book deal with HarperCollins. Her first children's book, River Rose and the Magical Lullaby was released on October 4, 2016. The book features an original lullaby written and performed by Clarkson. The second book featuring River Rose, River Rose and the Magical Christmas, was released on October 24, 2017, and included an original song written and sung by Clarkson, "Christmas Eve".

At the moment, the news is currently unconfirmed, however, it would fit in with Nickelodeon's current commissioning strategy to adapt books for the small and big screen. Over the past couple of years, Nickelodeon has ordered series and movies inspired by Big Nate and Real Pigeons Fight Crime.
