Ottawa International Animation Festival 2023 Schedule is Live

The 5-day festival and TV animation conference, featuring screenings, exhibits, workshops, and entertainment, is around the corner, running September 20-24.

The Ottawa International Animation Festival (OIAF) returns this month, September 20-24, promising five days packed with screenings, exhibits, workshops, and entertainment. The event’s schedule is now live, so check out what’s coming here.

Animation Exposé

“Advice from Animators: How to Thrive in Tough Times”

Experienced animation industry professionals share tips on professional development, networking, interviewing, and how to get hired in the future. This veteran roundup offers hope and inspiration for the next phase of your career.

“Behind the Scenes of Disney Animation’s Once Upon a Studio with directors Dan Abraham and Trent Correy”

Walt Disney Animation Studios directors Dan Abraham (Baymax, story artist, Encanto) and Trent Correy (Zootopia+, animation supervisor, Frozen 2) go behind the scenes of their newest animated short film, Once Upon a Studio, featuring an all-star ensemble of beloved Disney Animation characters coming together for a “joyful, entertaining and emotional reunion” as they assemble for a spectacular group photo to celebrate Disney’s 100th anniversary.

Art + Biz Day: BRIC @ TAC

The OIAF, in partnership with BRIC Foundation, presents Art + Biz Day: BRIC @ TAC. With support from Canada Media Fund, Nickelodeon, Studio Smokescreen, and Warner Brothers Discovery Access, Art + Biz Day features a full morning of programming focused on breaking, reinventing, impacting, and changing the animation industry.

8:30 am – 9:30 am: Art + Biz Breakfast

Canada Room Foyer, NAC

Start your Friday at TAC over at the NAC with a Networking Breakfast presented by Canada Media Fund (CMF), with coffee service presented by Nickelodeon. Head into the weekend reconnecting with fellow TAC attendees and meet new ones. 

11:40 – 12:30 pm: Meet a Mentor Sessions
Presented in partnership with BRIC Foundation

Venue: Le Salon, National Arts Centre (NAC)

Are you an emerging creator looking to forge connections at the OIAF? Sign up for Meet a Mentor Sessions at Art + Biz Day: BRIC @ TAC! Entry-level members of the animation industry can sign up for a 10-minute meeting with a studio representative. Priority access will be given to participants from underserved communities. These are meetings where participants can ask for demo reel reviews, pitching advice, gain portfolio feedback, and make new connections in the animation industry.

Registered passholders can submit the short pre-registration form: “Apply for Meet a Mentor Sessions” via the OIAF Visitor Portal.
