Nickelodeon Eyes Global Retail Expansion With New Store Openings Across EU, EMEA And More

Nickelodeon has detailed its plans to open a string of new stores across the UK and Europe!

The entertainment giant recently told ToyNews that its flagship London store is just the beginning for its retail arm.

Located at One Leicester Square, the Nickelodeon Store has welcomed an estimated 650,000 visitors over the last year and has introduced over 2,500 new items since it opened. The Nick Store has sold over 170,000 items with the SpongeBob London Guard, an exclusive to the Nickelodeon Store Leicester Square, proving to be the most popular soft toy. Over 20,000 colouring sheets have also been coloured in by Nickelodeon Store customers in the last 12 months.

Following the success of Nickelodeon's first European flagship Nickelodeon Store, which is currently celebrating its one year anniversary, Nickelodeon plans to launch a raft of new Nickelodeon-branded stores to rival the likes of its Leicester Square location over the next 18 months.

The team is set to open its first outlet in Dubai and has set its sights on expanding across Asia, Latin America, the Middle East and Europe.

"We have seen a tonne of interest and demand for a Nickelodeon retail presence across the globe," said Lisa Silverman Meyers, Senior Vice President (SVP) of Operations and Business Planning for Nickelodeon and Viacom Consumer Products (NVCP).

"In the UK, we are still looking at where to put the stores. We want to be really thoughtful and continue to make it very special. The ideal would be to have a Nickelodeon Store on every High Street in London."

The firm's Leicester Square store is now one year old, and Nickelodeon is determined to make its second year in UK retail 'bigger and better than before.'

"For the London store, we are gong to be looking at adding some different categories and striking new partnerships," said Myers.

Alongside 'delivering newness' to the consumer, Meyers revealed that Nickelodeon has seen a recent surge in demand for the channels retro properties too.

A selection of the Rugrats and The Ren & Stimpy Show t-shirts and mugs available to purchase at the Nickelodeon Store in London's Leicester Square

"We have been surprised by just how much people are loving the retro assortments we have, such as the Rugrats and Ren and Stimpy,” she said. "This is something we want to step up and continue to offer consumers for the coming year.

"As in everything we do, we are always pouring over our data and are looking to bolster our offering in the London store, adding categories and hopefully continuing to drive that strong consumer engagement we are seeing."

A hotspot for tourism and consumer activity, Leicester Square is also readying for the arrival of a new LEGO store, a development that Myers has welcomed as yet another means of driving footfall towards the centre of London.

"We love the news of a LEGO Store landing in London," continued Myers. "We are big fans of the team and to have another retail store like that in Leicester Square is nothing but good news for us."

The Nickelodeon Store features over 4000 square feet of Nickelodeon merchandise and memorabilia showcasing beloved brands such as SpongeBob SquarePants, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, PAW Patrol and Rugrats. In addition to the extensive line of merchandise, the Nickelodeon Store also features the Dora the Explorer colouring tree and SpongeBob Pineapple I-Pad bar. The Nickelodeon Store is open every day with fans also able to purchase Nickelodeon items online at nickelodeonstore.co.uk.

Experience British Icons And Gain 15% Discount At The Nickelodeon Store With Newly-Expanded London Pass

Original London Pass Press Release via PR Newswire UK:

Experience British Icons With Newly-Expanded London Pass

LONDON, October 28, 2015 /PRNewswire/ --

New attractions Introduced for Autumn 2015

Visitors to London this autumn will be able to learn more about some great British icons with the popular London Pass city sightseeing card (http://www.londonpass.com).

From 2 November The London Pass, which helps visitors to save time and money on their sightseeing, will introduce three new experiences giving visitors a real taste of British culture, both modern and historic.

Play it for laughs at the Museum of Comedy

Britons are known for their unique sense of humour, which has given rise to some of the world's greatest TV, radio and stage comedy. Visitors can learn more at London's Museum of Comedy, an interactive, immersive museum featuring more than 6,000 iconic props and artefacts from some of the most popular comedians and comedy shows both past and present.

Spot the handmade magic props belonging to legendary comic magician Tommy Cooper, caricature puppet heads from seminal 1980s TV show Spitting Image and the six-necked guitar used by leading surrealist comic Bill Bailey. Normally priced at £5 for adult and £4 for children, entry to the museum and revolving exhibitions is free with The London Pass.

Explore 19th century romance at the Keats House Museum

Explore the life and work of one of Britain's greatest poets, John Keats, through new exhibits of his original manuscripts and artefacts at his former home in Hampstead. Through these items visitors will be told the story of how Keats found inspiration, friendship and romance in his Regency villa, leading to such classic works as Ode To Autumn.

A contemporary of Byron and Shelley, Keats was a leading light in the British Romantic movement of the early 19th century before his death at the age of just 25. For visitors with a creative streak of their own, there is even the chance to turn poet and put pen to paper while crafting an original poem! Normally priced at £5.50 per adult, entry to the museum is free with The London Pass.

A classic taste of Britain at the V&A!

London Pass holders can enjoy one of Britain's more refined contributions to society at the Victoria & Albert Museum, one of the world's leading art and design spaces. After discovering the world-class exhibits at this free-to-enter museum, they can stop for a free Cream Tea Package at the V&A Café.

Britain's tradition of taking tea with sweet scones, cream and jam dates back at least to the middle of the 19th century when tourism boomed in Victorian Britain. At the V&A Café, the package includes a homemade raisin scone, Cornish clotted cream, strawberry jam and a loose leaf tea. Normally priced at £6.65 per person, the V&A cream tea package is included free with The London Pass.

Also new for autumn 2015 is a series of special offers for London Pass holders at attractions and retail outlets: a 15 per cent discount on purchases at The Toy Store in Oxford Street and the Nickelodeon Store in Leicester Square, and 10 per cent off gift shop purchases at the Tower Bridge Exhibition and Twickenham Stadium Tours.

Making significant savings with The London Pass is simple for visitors to the UK's capital city as they simply need to show their card at any of the 60-plus featured attractions to gain admittance with nothing else to pay. A one-day London Pass is priced at £55 per adult and £37 per child (aged 5-15), and on a one-day break visitors to the city can save after visiting just three attractions. For example, paying independently to visit the Tower of London (normally £22), the London Bridge Experience (£24) and taking a Thames River Cruise (£18) would ordinarily come to £64, but London Pass holders can enjoy the same experiences and save £9.

The London Pass saves holders not only money but time too, as the card includes queue-jumping privileges at a number of popular city attractions, meaning less time waiting to gain entry, and more time enjoying their chosen experience.

To find out more about the attractions and special offers included with The London Pass and to buy it online, visit http://www.londonpass.com.

PAI Brings Retail Theatre To Nickelodeon's First Flagship Store In London's Leicester Square

PAI Group has announced the exciting news that PAI has delivered an immersive audio-visual scheme at Nickelodeon's first European flagship Nickelodeon Store at 1 Leicester Square, London!

Positioned in the heart of one of the world's prime retail and tourism destinations, the Nickelodeon Store offers the perfect platform to showcase the global entertainment brand and its internationally-recognised characters.

Appointed by SmartDesign Group, PAI was tasked with installing an array of AV, sound, lighting, multimedia and interactive elements throughout the multi-level space.

The flagship shop is the UK's first following a new partnership between Nickelodeon & Viacom Consumer Products and Entertainment Retail Enterprises. It boasts more than 40 digital displays, a range of short throw and glass projection, touchscreen technology and audio equipment.

Upon approaching the store eyes will be drawn to the striking landscape video wall behind the windows on the upper level. Made up of three separate but synchronised video walls, comprising a total of 24 Samsung screens in 4x2 formation, it operates from store opening through to the early hours of the following morning.

A further 21 screens are distributed inside the store; a 2x2 video wall above the staircase is surrounded by a large frame in Nickelodeon's famous bright orange, whilst seven screens make up a vertical screen feature, which connects the two floors and sees vibrant content move up and down. Half a dozen 46" commercial monitors can be found on the first floor, with four 32" models at the Point of Sale (POS) areas.

Distribution and control comes via a Pharos system, paired with 26 BrightSign LS422 networked media players supporting 1080p30 video playback and six LS322 commercial audio devices.

Whilst UST projectors broadcast content across walls, other models project bubbles, Jellyfish and more across the floor. In the "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" zone, glass projection is used to display footage of Raphael, Leonardo, Michelangelo and Donatello.

Elsewhere in the store, a kiosk in the shape of a Pineapple – the underwater home of one of Nickelodeon's most famous characters, SpongeBob SquarePants – hosts eight iPads featuring a multitude of apps and games. Along with a CleverTouch S Series 55" touchscreen, there are plenty of interactive pause points to keep customers young and old occupied.

Full range, two-way loudspeakers, powered by Ashly amplification with built in Protea digital sound processing, provide the themed music and character support audio across the whole store.

PAI's in-house media and IT teams now manage regular content updates across the store, as instructed by the client.

This latest project adds to PAI's impressive retail portfolio, which includes other household names such as DFS, Disney, Hard Rock, HSBC, Reiss and Virgin, amongst others.

Nickelodeon Partners With MIQ For Retail Expansion

Nickelodeon has chosen MIQ Logistics to manage its global supply chain including replenishment for its flagship store, and fulfilment of European on-line purchases.

Andy Martin, MIQ's UK managing director, said: "The successful launch of the Nickelodeon store and its continuous replenishment is testament to the skill of my retail teams. The Crew Clothing appointment is particularly notable as MIQ were unknown when we entered the process."

MIQ recently opened a 30,000 sq ft retail distribution operation in Hemel Hempstead, and launched a South China consolidation centre. The US-owned forwarder has 150 offices in 80 countries.
