A free Magical Christmas Parade is coming to the Trafford Centre - with Paw Patrol, Shimmer and Shine, Teletubbies, PJ Masks, In The Night Garden, and more!

Nick Jr. favourites will be among the kids' characters entertaining the crowds

A Magical Christmas Parade is coming to intu Trafford Centre next month - bringing a host of favourite children's characters!

Characters from Paw Patrol, Shimmer and Shine, Teletubbies, Lego Batman and In the Night Garden will be among the line-up at two show-stopping parades.

The event first took place last year when hundreds of visitors flocked to see 'the north west's biggest Christmas toy parade'.

Organisers say this year's spectacular 'will once again be bringing the magic of Christmas to intu Trafford Centre'.

Filled with fairy-tale music, beautiful dance medleys and festive magic – the 'captivating Christmas show' will burst into the Orient with two show-stopping parades at 11.30am and 2.30pm on Saturday 17th November 2018.

The 'enchanting performances' will give families a chance to see their favourite children’s characters alongside 'a dazzling array' of princes, princesses, dancers and many more.

Father Christmas will take a brief break from his time in the centre’s new Christmas grotto to appear in the procession and welcome the crowds to the Christmas event.

Shimmer and Shine

The full Magical Christmas Parade cast includes:

- Chase and Marshall taking a break from their rescue missions in Nickelodeon’s much-loved PAW Patrol

- Shimmer and Shine, Nickelodeon’s twin-sister genies in training

- Teletubbies Tinky Winky and Po

- Catboy, Owlette and Gekko, the mini superheroes from PJ Masks in their trademark pyjamas

- Iggle Piggle and Upsy Daisy, making a special trip from the Night Garden

- Virgil from the Thunderbirds on a special festive mission

- Characters from the Sylvanian Families

- Peter Rabbit, taking some time away from Famer McGregor’s garden

- Lego Batman from Legoland Discovery Centre’s

- A cast of magical fairy-tale princes and princesses

- Father Christmas leading the way in his trademark red coat

Alison Niven, regional centre director at intu Trafford Centre, told the Manchester Evening News: “Our Magical Christmas Parade was a huge hit last year bringing a smile to thousands of little festive faces. It’s the perfect festive mix of family fun, music and dancing that is sure to make a great Christmas day out.”

“And with our brand-new Christmas grotto, the chance to go on the intu Christmas Wheel outside the centre and many more events planned over the next two months – it’s really beginning to feel like the magic of Christmas has started.”

The characters will be joined on the day by volunteers from the NSPCC, who will be on the malls to sell sparkly badges and bracelets, and to take donations for the charity.

“Our volunteers will be in the centre on the day shining a light on the vital work of the NSPCC and selling our Christmas products. Every penny donated will go towards helping us to protect children across the region."

Families are advised to arrive early to secure a good spot for the parades.

The Ninja Turtles Takeover Hamleys' Flagship Store in London to Celebrate UK Launch of 'Rise of the TMNT' Toy Line

Raph, Leo, Donnie and Mikey brought colour and humour to a wet, grey day at Hamleys flagship store in London on Saturday!

Hamleys’ Regent Street store played host to an entourage of ninja turtles this weekend to celebrate the launch of the new Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles toy line with a special meet and greet event!

The new look Raph, Leo, Donnie and Mikey, brought some colour and humour to a wet, grey day at Hamleys flagship store on Regent Street as they met the public in their first ever Rise of the TMNT UK character appearance.

The reimagined turtles are now four different species: Raph is a jagged-shelled snapping turtle; Leo is a red-eared slider turtle; Donnie is a soft-shell turtle, and Mikey is a box turtle.

Store visitors also had the chance to participate in special ‘light-speed’ challenges, have their faces painted and watch episodes of the new Nickelodeon show in store. The meet & greet follows the recent launch of the latest reimagining, Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, airing now on Nicktoons and Channel 5.

People visiting Hamleys on Sunday were also be able to see the new Turtles in half hour slots on the hour from 12pm-4.30pm and participate in activities listed above. Visitors were encourages to share their photos on social media using the hashtag #HamleysTurtleTakeover on both days.

The breathtaking merchandise includes action figures, vehicles, play sets and role-play, and are already some of the hottest toys on wish lists in the run-up to Christmas! The all-new highly detailed Action Figures are uniquely sculpted and fully articulated with heights ranging from 3” to 5”. Each figure comes with translucent accessories. The Deluxe Ninja Action Figures have flipping actions plus movement and weapon sound effects. To complete the collection, The Giant Figure Assortment stand 11” tall and have 13 points of articulation. Fully equipped and ready for battle.



The new Shell Hog Motorcycles let the foursome take out any villains. The Hogs are equipped with spring loaded projectiles and can connect to one another to pack a punch going into battle.

The Turtle Tank 2-in-1 toy has two modes. In vehicle mode, the front cab opens for two Turtles to sit inside and drive the brothers into action. Then Donatello’s removable lab rises up and serves as the mobile command headquarters.

The Role-Play Assortment includes four sets of the Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles arsenal of weapons. Each ninja weapon comes with a signature Turtles mask and a new throwing star. Each set is true to its character with Raphael’s Tonfas, Leonardo’s Odachi Sword, Donatello’s Tech-Bo Staff and Michelangelo’s Kusari-fundo.

The Epic Sewer Lair Playset stands 43” tall and features four levels of play including seven rooms and over 20 features from Splinter’s Dojo and Raphael’s’ Training Room – expect hidden projectile launches, skateboarding ramps and more.

PAW Patrol, Shimmer & Shine And Peppa Pig Help Spread Festive Cheer At Trafford Centre's Christmas Parade | Nick Jr. UK

Beloved Nick Jr. characters, along with stars from Coronation Street and fellow characters from other children's television shows all gathered together to get into the festive spirit at the Trafford Centre’s Christmas parade in Manchester!

The captivating carnival marked the start of the festive season with princesses, princes, nutcracker dancers and traditional toy soldiers all there to set the scene.

Youngsters also got the chance to meet their favourite television characters, including Marshall and Skye from PAW Patrol, Shimmer and Shine, Peppa Pig, Trolls lead characters Princess Poppy and her little friend Branch, as well as lovable Bing and Flop from Emmy-award winning CBeebies cartoon Bing. Also involved in the magical musical parade were the little yellow Minions, fresh from their latest movie, Despicable Me 3.

Corrie stars Catherine Tyldsley and son Alfie, Scott Thomas and nephew Teddy, Tina O’Brien and children Scarlett and Beau, and Samia Ghandie and son Yves also made an appearance.

Catherine, who plays Eva in the popular British soap, posted a picture on Instagram of son Alfie saying he was ‘starstruck’ meeting the minions at the centre.

Father Christmas was also at the parade in The Orient to spread some Christmas cheer.

Alison Niven, regional centre director at intu Trafford Centre, said: “Never before has an event lit up intu Trafford Centre with as much enchantment, festivity and excitement as the Magical Christmas Parade. The Orient was filled with thousands of happy, smiling faces and little ones were captivated by the magic and in awe of getting the chance to see their favourite stars in real life.

“There was PAW Patrol, Shimmer and Shine, Minions, Peppa Pig, PJ Masks, Bing and Flop and Trolls, followed by princesses, drummers, dancers, singers, jugglers, stilt-walkers and even Santa Claus himself joined the cast of over a hundred entertainers. It was such a fun-filled day out for all the family to enjoy – thank you to everyone that came.”

'PAW Patrol' Stars Skye And Rubble To Help Turn On Cardiff's Christmas Lights On Thursday 9th November 2017

Stars from Nick Jr. UK's PAW Patrol will be visiting and meeting fans in Cardiff this November as they help celebrate the switching on of the city's Christmas lights!

Christmas will officially start in Cardiff on Thursday, November 9 when the city centre will transform into a winter festive wonderland for the Welsh capital's big Step Into Christmas event!

Like recent years, rather than just switching on the lights, the capital will undergo a spectacular transformation with a cornucopia of Christmas characters, music and entertainment to guarantee THREE hours of unadulterated yuletide joy.

And that includes visits from PAW Patrol characters Skye and Rubble from Nickelodeon's hit preschool series, PAW Patrol, as well as beautiful Cairngorm reindeer who will be with Santa in their pen at the bottom of St Mary Street.

As well as that, Admiral's Winter Wonderland will open on the City Hall lawn, the shops will kick-off their late-night shopping alongside the Cardiff Christmas Market and there will be 180 minutes of free festive family fun.

What time will the lights be switched on?

There is no official ‘switch on’ for the city’s lights this year but they will all be shining in time for the big Step Into Christmas event on Thursday (November 9).

They will gradually start to twinkle as the night darkens.

Cardiff Council wants to guarantee far more than just a three-second light switch on, instead providing three hours of entertainment in a free street festival instead.

What time does it start?

The celebrations kick off at 4.30pm and go on until 7.30pm.

How much is it?

It's a FREE event (although some activities may incur a charge).

Where can I see the PAW Patrol characters?

Skye & Rubble from PAW Patrol will appear at intervals outside The Old Library, opposite St David’s Hall.

Is there any other entertainment?

Yes! Watch out for Wonderbrass, Cardiff’s biggest, boldest, brassiest band, celebrate 25 years of making music in South Wales and beyond as well as the Winter Wonderland Birds - huge, illuminated, beautiful Christmas Birds light up the streets with their feathery wonderment.

There will also be panto dames, Spark - a mesmerising, unmissable street show combining fantastic drumming and LED lights and The Three Kings - stilted giants from the East.

There will also be The Glitter Miners, The Glitter Belles and Giant Baubles.

When can I go ice-skating at Winter Wonderland?

The Admiral ice-rink will open on the same night and this year the roof is back, allowing skaters to enjoy the skating experience, come rain of shine.

After one of the wettest winters on record last year, organiser Sayers Amusements are reducing the risk of people missing out on skating sessions by looking to keep skaters super dry with a clear span roof and night sky lights.

What else is there?

The only way to see Cardiff this Christmas is from the top of the Big Wheel!

From the top of the wheel passengers will be able to spot sights like Cardiff Castle, Bute Park and the soon to be Principality Stadium.

No advanced booking necessary, simply purchase your tickets from the box office prior to take off.

A host of traditional children’s rides surround the ice rink too.

Can I get some shopping done?

The Christmas Market will officially open and stay open until December 23 when over 200 talented artists, crafts people and food and alcohol producers from across Wales offer an array of gifts such as Welsh slate, crafted candles, tasty cheeses, fruit wines and liqueurs, flavoured vodkas and gins, silver and enamel jewellery, pottery and original artwork.

You will be able to find something for everyone on your Christmas gifts list whilst enjoying a cup of hot mulled wine as you browse!

Coaster Thrills Spill Over Into The Night With Late Riding Special At Blackpool Pleasure Beach | Nickelodeon Land UK

Late night riding returns to Blackpool Pleasure Beach this weekend, with the park open from 10am until 10pm on Saturday 23rd September 2017!

As well as enjoying Blackpool Pleasure Beach’s fantastic line up of rides, guests can be amazed by a spectacular fireworks display to end the night. Visitors have the chance to ride into the night on the UK’s tallest rollercoaster the Big One, check out the twists and turns of Infusion at twilight, enjoy a night race on the Grand National and ride into dusk on the Big Dipper.

There will be live entertainment throughout the evening as well as DJs spinning the latest tunes on Pleasure Beach Radio.

PAW Patrol Pups Go On Patrol In Oxford To Launch Free Bus Travel For Kids | Nickelodeon UK

The stars of Nick Jr.'s PAW Patrol put their best PAW forward in Oxford last week to entertain children and promote family bus trips to London!

Characters from Nickelodeon's hit preschool series, which features a tech-savvy boy and a pack of six rescue dogs, fascinated more than 300 children in Broad Street, Oxford city centre.

Chase the Police Pup and Marshall the firefighter pup were in town to meet the youngsters and their families to celebrate the launch of Oxford Tube’s Kids Go Free travel ticket.

Little ones had the chance to meet and have their photograph taken with their favourite TV stars, as well as experience a tour around one the coaches, and even sit in the driver’s seat. Children can travel on the Oxford to London service for free all year round as part of Stagecoach Oxfordshire’s initiative.

Managing director Martin Sutton said: “Now the school summer holidays have officially begun we wanted to give the children of Oxford an exciting, and free, day out that they could enjoy with their friends and family – we felt PAW Patrol would certainly put a smile on their faces.

“We hope our Kids Go Free any day, any time of the week tickets will give more families the opportunity to explore the sights of London and Oxford and create some lovely memories to look back on.”

UK Fans Go Crazy Over JoJo Siwa And Claire’s "JoJo’s Bow Party" Promo | Nickelodeon

Nickelodeon teams with retailer for first meet and greets in the UK.

The huge potential for the JoJo Siwa licensing programme has been underlined by two successful meet and greet appearances by the YouTube star – her first in the UK – organised by Nickelodeon and Claire’s Accessories.

Last week saw JoJo make two appearances at Manchester’s Old Trafford Centre store and in a special branded bus outside Birmingham’s Bull Ring – attracting over 500 fans on both days! Some fans made the trip from Scotland and Ireland, and even as far as from Dubai, just to see JoJo.

A new bow was on sale at the Claire’s stores especially for the two days (pictured below with some of the fans at the Manchester event), with fans buying a bow to then receive a wristband for the meet and greet entry.

In addition, new JoJo bags were also available, with Nickelodeon reporting sell outs for both bows and bags.

While the main focus of JoJo’s visit was to promote the partnership with Nickelodeon and Claire’s, she also made an appearance on ITV's This Morning later in the week to talk about cyber-bullying.

JoJo will return to the UK in October to perform at Nickelodeon’s SLIMEFEST event in Blackpool. Fans can also step into JoJo Siwa’s world with JoJo Siwa: My World, a brand-new docu-style special that goes inside the social media superstar’s journey from small town girl who loved to dance and sing, to Kids’ Choice Award winner for Favorite Viral Music Artist, premiering Friday 18th August 2017 at 5:00pm on Nickelodeon UK & Ireland.

JoJo Bows Star Causes A MASSIVE Frenzy In Birmingham As She Meets Hundreds Of Fans

Hundreds of youngsters and their parents formed huge queues in Birmingham on Wednesday to meet the American star behind the JoJo Bows craze!

Devoted followers of JoJo Siwa rushed to the Birmingham Bullring shopping centre to see the 14-year-old internet sensation who had flown over from Omaha, Nebraska, on her first visit to the UK.

Fans of the star - known as Siwanators - had to buy a bow at Claire's accessories store in the Bullring to get one of 250 coveted wristbands entitling them to a meet and greet at a specially-branded double decker bus in St Martin's Square.

Many shoppers wondered what was going on as queues of children, all wearing the oversized bows, formed at the shop and at the bus.

JoJo was in the city from 1pm to 3.30pm, posing for photographs with those who were lucky enough to meet her in person.

Some families arrived very early in the morning to be first to get a bow and wristband when Claire's opened especially early at 7am.

And they weren't just from Birmingham but from all over the UK.

Among them was superfan Leah-Jade Davies from Cardiff, who was bedecked in a cascade of big colourful bows clipped all the way down through her hair.

One girl even came all the way from Dubai! Imaan Malik, aged nine, had flown in from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) just to see her idol.

JoJo Siwa rose to fame through the popular TV reality series Dance Moms - following a group of young competitive dancers and their equally competitive mothers. She now interacts with her fans through social media platforms.

JoJo has more than 5.8 million followers on Instagram, 11.4 million followers on Music.ly and 600 million views on her YouTube channel, as well as having talent and a global consumer products deals with Nickelodeon.

The youngster has already released three pop songs and has now expanded her accessories range to include keyrings, jewellery, watches and cosmetics.

The giant bows became so popular in the UK that several schools banned them, saying they didn't comply with rules on uniforms.

Claire’s has previously organised meet and greets with JoJo Siwa in the USA, visiting Chicago, Miami and Minnesota.

Hind Palmer, global brand marketing and communications director for Claire's, told the Birmingham Mail: "Claire's couldn't be more pleased at the successful outcome of the Birmingham Meet and Greet with JoJo Siwa.

"Her fans were thrilled to meet her and couldn't contain their excitement!

"We look forward to our continued thriving partnership with JoJo Siwa and Nickelodeon."

JoJo Siwa was also in Manchester earlier this week, where she told the Manchester Evening News: "This is my first time in the UK and it definitely feels like a foreign country to me, but I really love it here.

"I got to meet so many people, everyone was so nice, and I think I almost had a British accent by the end!

"I have loved bows my whole life, so we just said ‘why not do bows?’ and they have been really successful which is amazing.

"It is so cool seeing people wearing them in the street. I knew people would like them because I like them so much, but I didn’t know they would love them so much."

Hundreds of excited young fans flocked to the Intu Manchester Trafford Centre to meet JoJo Siwa, the teen star behind the JoJo Bows phenomenon on Tuesday!

Fans known as ‘Siwanators’ swarmed Claire’s Accessories for the first UK appearance by JoJo Siwa.

Shoppers stopped in their tracks to wonder why a large queue of children wearing oversized bows in their hair - a tribute to the Nickelodeon star’s trademark accessory - had formed along the top floor of the shopping centre.

One girl wore an outfit entirely made of colourful bows to meet her idol.

And it was worth the wait for fans who had arrived at the Trafford Centre as early as 5am to grab a place in the queue to meet 14-year-old singer and dance JoJo from Nebraska, who rose to fame on the hit US reality TV show Dance Moms.

From 9am, Siwanators could buy a JoJo bow at Claire’s to get one of 250 wristbands to attend ‘JoJo’s Bow Party’.

One dad tweeted: “Eight hours later !!! Thea is beyond happy now she’s met #jojo #jojosbowpartyuk !! @Trafford Centre.”

Social media sensation JoJo shot to fame at the age of eight, and the large bows she likes to wear in her hair have become a global sensation.

They are so popular in the UK that many schools took the decision to ban them, saying they don’t comply with the rules on uniform, which JoJo describes as "amazing, but also terrible". However that hasn’t dampened their popularity.

The youngster has an astonishing 5.8 million followers on Instagram, and her YouTube channel has had 600 million views. She has released three pop songs, made a Nickelodeon TV special called JoJo Siwa – My World (which will air on Nickelodeon UK and Ireland on Friday 18th August 2017), and is currently filming a brand-new television movie, Inside Voice, for Nickelodeon.

JoJo described meeting her UK fans, some of whom had come to see her in outfits made entirely out of bows, as “really exciting.”

“This is my first time in the UK and it definitely feels like a foreign country to me, but I really love it here," she told the Manchester Evening News.

“I got to meet so many people, everyone was so nice, and I think I almost had a British accent by the end!

“The mall was amazing, it is so pretty and so big. I have never seen a mall that big.”

The JoJo Bows range was launched just over a year ago, and the pint-sized businesswoman has already diversified into jewellery, keyrings, cosmetics and watches – and much, much more.

She said: “I have been wearing them since I was born. I have loved them my whole life, so we just said ‘why not do bows?’ and they have been really successful which is amazing.

“It is so cool seeing people wearing them in the street. I knew people would like them because I like them so much, but I didn’t know they would love them so much.”

JoJo will be returning to the UK in October to perform for the first time in the UK exclusively at SLIMEFEST in Blackpool, a festival organised by Nickelodeon that features music, dancing – and plenty of slime.

“There is going to be a lot of slime involved,” she said. “Slime is huge this year.”

SLIMEFEST will be on between October 21 and 23 and will also include exclusive performances from UK dance sensations Diversity and guest appearances from School of Rock stars Breanna Yde and Ricardo Hurtado.
