"The training is hardcore but under the watchful eye of coach Tom Daley I'm starting to learn the art of diving. [...] It's so much harder than it looks, trust me, and the heights are petrifying!"

Anna Williamson, who is a ambassador for Mind and a key supporter and children's counsellor at children's helpline ChildLine, also told Digital Spy that her work with mental health Mind and children's charities inspired her to sign up for the show.

Nickelodeon UK Launches Co-Commission with Sky 1 HD, Jordan & Perri’s Ultimate Block Party

July 25, 2013 @ 2:16 AM
by Tessa Tennyson, VIMN UK

Back in January, Nickelodeon UK announced the network’s first-ever co-commission with Sky 1 HD (UK's premium entertainment channel), Jordan & Perri’s Ultimate Block Party. Starring dance sensations Jordan Banjo and Perri Kiely from Diversity, and made by Princess Productions, the team behind hit UK show ‘Got To Dance,’ the series follows Jordan and Perri as they travel around the UK surprising groups of kids by helping them throw the ultimate block party for their family and friends. The main attraction – each group of kids will be their party’s own headline act, as Jordan and Perri choreograph them a killer street dance routine.

The communications campaign kicked off with a press day at Lift, a centre for youths in Central London. The show’s stars met with key kids and tween/teen press, plus online platforms took part in an exclusive dance class with Jordan and Perri, followed by a first look at the series and one-on-one interview time with the boys. Also as part of the communications campaign, Jordan and Perri took part in a live Twitter Q&A using the hashtag #jordanandperri with the boys answering hundreds of fan questions to drum up engagement online and drive tune-in.

The show has launched with solid ratings for Nickelodeon UK, with the top performing episode up +38% for kids (+21% for individuals) on the slot average at 8.30am on a Saturday morning. The series is a great example of a UK commission that has local relevance, making the most of UK talent and current trends, and one that also demonstrates our successful collaboration with other broadcasters.

Made up from Jayden, 13, Cameron, 11, Ethan, 11, Liam, 13, and Kenny, 12, the group has a real family-like bond, especially as they are unofficially managed by one of the group member's brothers. According to the boys, nothing ever happens in their village and so they couldn't have been more excited to be surprised by Jordan and Perri. Finally, a chance to spice things up! Luckily, The Break Dancers already have street dance experience, but working with Jordan and Perri means they can try to perfect their “resurrection” dance moves, improve their flips and spins, and most importantly perfect their kick-butt attitude:

Jordan and Perri have made it their mission to get the group to adopt a more street-dance attitude, with flexible routines and moves where they can actually use their arms! Girl Band Stooshe pop along to rehearsals to give the group some last minute "street-style" advice before their performance, and the group even re-pay the favour by giving Stooshe their own Irish Dancing lesson! None of The Irish Dancers have tried street dance before, so Jordan and Perri will have to work hard to get the group to break through their strict Irish dancing mind set:
Diversity teach Ilford Irish dancers to swap steps for street in television show

A group of eight Ilford dancers will be hitting television screens tomorrow in a Nickelodeon show.

The children aged between nine and 12 will be swapping their Irish steps for street dance under the expert tuition of Jordan Banjo and Perri Luc Kiely from hit dance group Diversity.

In their show, Jordan and Perri’s Ultimate Block Party, they teach young dancers new street routines to perform in front of friends and family.

The Ilford Irish dancers, from the Maguire O’Shea Academy, met more famous faces on the show, including girl band Stooshe, who popped along to rehearsals to give them some last minute attitude advice before the performance.

In return, the Irish dancers taught the singers some of their own moves.

But learning street dance for the first time was not without its challenges for the talented youngsters.

Dancer Erin, 12, said: “It was a big challenge for us to take on a completely different dance style.

“Being Irish dancers we weren’t used to using our arms.”

Too see how well they did, watch the show on Nickelodeon at 6.30pm on Friday.

This group of friends from London have all attended an Irish Dance school for the past five years. They are used to disciplined dancing with regimented routines, where their arms have to be kept straight by their sides. Jordan and Perri have made it their mission to get the group to adopt a more street-dance attitude, with flexible routines and moves where they can actually use their arms! Girl Band Stooshe pop along to rehearsals to give the group some last minute “street-style” advice before their performance, and the group even re-pay the favour by giving Stooshe their own Irish Dancing lesson!

None of The Irish Dancers have tried street dance before, so Jordan and Perri will have to work hard to get the group to break through their strict Irish dancing mind set.

The Blackpool Bunch

The seven cheeky members of The Blackpool Bunch have attended the Urban Dance Project school in the heart of Blackpool for the past two years. This group of energetic kids have never performed together before, let alone performed before an audience – a double-whammy of a challenge for Jordan and Perri. Concentration and timings are key to their routine, so difficult are the tricks with which the group have been tasked. Jordan and Perri will have to work hard to ensure the team perform as one tight-knit unit. Olympic bronze gymnast Beth Tweedle is on helping hand to give the group some top tips on how to keep their nerves at bay when performing under pressure. The kids even get a chance to show-off their gymnastic skills to Beth, with the ever-competitive Jordan and Perri challenging Beth to a handstand competition.

The Break Dancers

From a sleepy-village in the Welsh Valleys, The Break Dancers is a group of five young boys who have formed their own crew called the Vortex Breakdancers. The group was formed to keep them out of mischief in their otherwise quiet, small town near Newport. The group has a real family-like bond, especially as they are unofficially managed by one of the group member’s brothers. According to the boys, nothing ever happens in their village and so they couldn’t have been more excited to be surprised by Jordan and Perri. Finally, a chance to spice things up! A special guest shows up to give the group some last minute teaching – Diversity’s very own crew leader, Ashley Banjo - but only after the boys put Ashley through his paces with a quick game of rugby. Luckily, The Break Dancers already have street dance experience, but working with Jordan and Perri means they can try to perfect their “resurrection” dance moves, improve their flips and spins, and most importantly perfect their kick-butt attitude.

MEET JORDAN BANJO

Born: 31st December 1992

"Dancing has always been a part of my life for as long as I can remember - from being a baby in my mum's lessons, to being taught by my older brother, and now, to selling out arenas on our own tours.”

MEET PERRI LUC KIELY

Born: 15th December 1995

"It all began when my mum asked me to go shopping with her - and saying 'yes' was the best decision of my life! Little did I know that Diversity was performing there that day. I became an instant fan and from then on all I wanted to do was dance, so I joined the Dancework family. After a year I was a solid member of the group. My favourite dance styles are New Style and Breaking, but everyone knows me as the kid with the hair who flips and gets thrown around - but I love that too!

"The past four years of my life have been the greatest and I have enjoyed every moment of it. The Diversity boys are my biggest inspiration."

And not forgetting the viewers at home, who will be able to learn step-by-step some of Jordan and Perri's routines!

Although unconfirmed, it is expected that Nickelodeon Star Brad Kavanagh, who plays Fabian Rutter in Nick's hit mystery drama series "House of Anubis", will be one of the many special guests in the show. The news could also suggest that one of the party's featured in the show could be have a Egyptian and/or "House of Anubis" theme!

Nickelodeon UK & Ireland and Nickelodeon HD UK will premiere and show "Jordan & Perri's Ultimate Block Party" during Summer 2013 before launching on Sky 1 later in the year!
