Kids’ Choice Awards 2020 Local Legends | Nickelodeon Australia & New Zealand

For the first time in Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards history, Nickelodeon Australia & New Zealand has awarded five individuals with an Honorary Local Legend Award for their astounding efforts in the community.

Danzal Baker (Baker Boy)

Born in Darwin and raised in the remote Northern Territory communities of Milingimbi and Maningrida, Danzal Baker (aka Baker Boy) is one of the freshest new hip-hop talents to emerge from Australia.

Danzal, a proud indigenous musician, raps in both English and the Yolngu Matha language, paying tribute to his Arnhem Land family. By doing this he hopes to inspire younger generations to embrace their culture and become leaders in their communities.

“Music is the best meditjin (medicine), it brings everyone together, makes you want to dance, love, laugh, vibe and feel and I wrote Meditjin with just that in mind. It’s about making people feel the music and expressing themselves”, says Danzal.

Jack Berne


Jack is the 11-year-old founder of Fiver for a Farmer, a fundraising campaign which captivated the nation when it began in 2018. After learning about the drought at school, Jack, from the Northern Beaches of Sydney, went from caring about it to taking action, asking his classmates to dress up as farmers and donate $5 to the cause. The contentious primary school student then went on to borrow his mum’s laptop and send emails out to media outlets asking for their help to spread the word about the campaign and generate much needed funds. He hit his first goal of $100,000 in less than a week and has since raised over $1.6 million for Australia’s struggling farming communities.

Molly Steer


11-year-old Molly is the founder of the Straw No More, an action-led campaign which encourages schools across Australia to stop using single-use plastic straws in their tuckshops and canteens.

Molly’s inspiration came after watching a movie called A Plastic Ocean, where she first discovered that plastic can end up in the ocean where it hurts marine life. She immediately started to think of ways to help eradicate single use plastic from the schoolyard.

“I started thinking about ways I could help the sea animals. I decided to ask my School Principal if we could stop using plastic straws at our school tuckshop. Then other schools in the area found out about it, and they wanted to join in too. We’ve had schools from all over Australia get in touch to say they are interested. We’ve even had people from South Korea, New Zealand, England and America contact us! Each day, we have more people saying they want to get involved. Even some cafe’s around Cairns are taking the StrawNoMore pledge!” says Molly.

Jacinda Ardern

Jacinda Ardern, the 40th Prime Minister of New Zealand, is both the world’s youngest female head of government and first world leader to bring her child to the United Nations general assembly. Putting the needs of both her own child and the children of New Zealand first, Jacinda continues to remain committed to ending child poverty and making her country the best place in the world to be a child. Her compassion, integrity, relatability and efforts to empower kids to share their points of view on the future of New Zealand, makes Jacinda the perfect recipient of Nickelodeon’s Honorary Local Legend Award.

Celeste Barber

Celeste is an Australian actor, writer, and comedian who recently raised over $51 million for the NSW Rural Fire Service and Brigades Donations Fund via a Facebook fundraiser, sharing the link on her social channels, with a reach of over 1.3 million. In between gathering supplies for displaced Australians and thanking people around the globe for their donations, Celeste showed the personal heartache as her extended family came close to losing their home.

Celeste’s Facebook fundraiser broke the record for the largest ever fundraising effort on the social platform globally. The money raised will help fund the RFS in their efforts to eliminate the devastating bushfires that have been ravaging Australia for months.

Nickelodeon South East Asia is set to premiere Nickelodeon’s Kids’ Choice Awards 2020: Celebrate Together, a show packed with stars, surprises and slime – hosted by Victoria Justice (Victorious, Zoey 101, Fun Size) – on Sunday, May 24 at 11.30am & 5pm on Nickelodeon Malaysia (MY) and Nickelodeon Philippines and at 10.30am & 4pm on Nickelodeon Indonesia (WIB)!

Asia - Feb. 14, 2020—Grammy® Award-winning superstar Chance the Rapper is set to host Nickelodeon’s Kids’ Choice Awards 2020, the biggest and slimiest awards show where kids are in control, airing in Asia on Wednesday, March 25 at 5pm (WIB) and 6pm (MY, PH).

The news, which also included this year’s nominees, was announced by Annie LeBlanc and her sister Hayley LeBlanc, stars of Nickelodeon’s digital competition show Annie vs. Hayley during a Kids’ Choice Awards nomination event across Nick’s YouTube, Instagram, Facebook and Twitter handles and channels.

With surprises at every turn, Chance the Rapper will bring his charisma and upbeat energy to the Kids’ Choice Awards, an epic celebration of kids’ favorite stars across the worlds of film, television, music, sports and more. Viewers everywhere will be able to experience the show on all Nickelodeon screens and platforms, as Nick offers a front-row seat to slime, stunts and celebrities.

Said Chance the Rapper, “I’m honored to host this year’s Kids’ Choice Awards. I watched Nickelodeon growing up and now I get to slime some of my favorite people on stage. This is going to be a party that you won’t want to miss!”

Leading into the award show, Nickelodeon SlimeFest, a two-day family-friendly music festival, will make its west coast debut on Saturday, March 21, and Sunday, March 22, at the Forum in Inglewood, Calif. The event features performances by Nickelodeon star and YouTube sensation JoJo Siwa, breakout pop group Why Don’t We, Grammy® Award-nominated multiplatinum artist French Montana, viral chart-topper Blanco Brown and singer/ventriloquist Darci Lynne. This year’s Nickelodeon SlimeFest will feature a Sunday-only VIP ticket that includes access to a special performance viewing area, plus admission to Nickelodeon’s Kids’ Choice Awards 2020. All Sunday attendees will also have the opportunity to watch a livestream of Nickelodeon’s Kids’ Choice Awards 2020 on the festival screens.

Leading the pack with the most Kids’ Choice Awards nominations are: Avengers: Endgame, with 11 nominations; Taylor Swift, with five nominations; and Frozen 2, Henry Danger and Lil Nas X, with four nominations each. First-time nominees include: John Cena, DaBaby, Tiffany Haddish, Tom Holland, Brie Larson, Lizzo and Megan Thee Stallion. With another nomination this year, Will Smith becomes the most nominated celebrity in Kids’ Choice Awards history, with a total of 29.

Beginning today, fans can cast votes on the official Kids’ Choice Awards website, www.KidsChoiceAwards.com, and on the Screens Up app on supported iPad, iPhone and Android devices in the U.S. International fans can cast votes through the Nick Play app in regions where it is available. Fans will also be able to cast their votes through social media on Twitter.

Chance the Rapper is no stranger to Nickelodeon, having made a surprise appearance at last year’s Nickelodeon SlimeFest in his hometown of Chicago and taking home a coveted Kids’ Choice Awards orange blimp for “Favorite Collaboration” (“No Brainer” by DJ Khaled, featuring Justin Bieber, Chance the Rapper, Quavo) in 2019. He was also nominated for “Favorite Song” (“I’m the One” by DJ Khaled, featuring Justin Bieber, Chance the Rapper, Quavo and Lil Wayne) in 2018.

Life is more exciting, fun, and unpredictable with a pony, as seen in Nickelodeon’s new original animated series It’s Pony, premiering at 4:00pm on Nickelodeon Malaysia (MY) and Nickelodeon Philippines and at 3:00pm on Nickelodeon Indonesia (WIB)! The 20-episode series follows the comedic adventures of Annie and her best friend, who just so happens to be an enthusiastic, unpredictable, and carefree pony. Following its premiere, new episodes of It’s Pony will continue to air regularly weekdays at 4:00pm on Nickelodeon in Malaysia and Philippines and at 3:00pm on Nick in Indonesia.

The series stars Jessica DiCicco (Adventure Time) as Annie, an optimistic and determined farm girl living in the city with her family and best friend Pony; Josh Zuckerman (Strange Angel) as Pony, who is naïve and impulsive, but loves Annie more than anything; Abe Benrubi (E.R.) as Dad, who treats Pony as a nuisance, but recognizes the special bond he shares with Annie; and India de Beaufort (All Hail King Julien) as Mom, who loves Annie and Pony’s relationship and always has a new project in the works.

Whether making an epic quest down the street to mail a letter, heroically saving the local playground with a bake sale, or simply getting a haircut, Pony and Annie always stick together because life is better as a pair.

Created by Ant Blades, It’s Pony is inspired by a short from Nickelodeon’s 2015 International Animated Shorts Program.


It’s Pony made its world debut on Nickelodeon USA on Saturday, January 18, 2020, and will roll-out internationally on Nickelodeon channels worldwide from April 2020.

STREAMING SERVICE NOW OFFERS 75 LIVE CHANNELS IN GSA WITH EXPANDING ITS PORTFOLIO, FROM FITNESS TO GAMING TO POPULAR NICKELODEON HEROES AND LAUNCHES ITS FIRST TV AND DIGITAL CAMPAIGN

Berlin/London, 13 May 2020 – As advertising-funded video on demand gains traction on the European market, innovator Pluto TV has expanded its offering in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland launching 24 new channels. Having begun 2020 with a lineup of 45 live channels, Pluto TV has rapidly grown its portfolio to now deliver 75 channels in these three markets.

To meet the growing demand of ad-supported streaming throughout GSA, on 13 May, an all-new campaign will debut across television and digital outlets across Germany, Switzerland and Austria, designed to increase brand awareness and adoption of Pluto TV in the region.

“At Pluto TV, we want to offer everybody at home a channel they love, and we are thrilled to add more than 24 new channels in the German-speaking markets in one month. Within the last four months alone, we have been able to increase our channel offering by a third of the entire portfolio. The new slate of channels includes highlights from categories such as Kids, Curiosity, Reality TV, Sports, and Entertainment.

Pluto TV is excited to welcome an all-new suite of Pop-Up channels featuring ViacomCBS’ award-winning IP with iconic brands like SpongeBob Squarepants, iCarly, Blue’s Clues, Victorious, Bubble Guppies, Sam & Cat, and more. Additionally, Pluto TV’s MTV channels Dating and The Hills, as well as Totally Turtles, are now available in English language for German viewers to get the authentic experience in the cast’s native tongue.

Pluto TV will also introduce new original, thematically curated channels – Pluto TV Crime, Pluto TV Lives and Pluto TV Yoga, among others.

Complementing its major content boost, Pluto TV initializes its first ever European campaign. It will feature spots and banners with whimsical and tongue-in-cheek messages that match the brand and highlight the diversity of the channel offering. The spots can be seen on all major TV stations in Germany, Austria and Switzerland and on all ViacomCBS channels. The TV commercials are accompanied by digitally led advertising on online portals and activities on social media channels. The campaign was developed with Berlin-based advertising agency DOJO.
