Paramount+ Greenlights 'Clueless' Event Series Starring Alicia Silverstone

PARAMOUNT+ GREENLIGHTS CLUELESS EVENT SERIES STARRING ALICIA SILVERSTONE

Josh Schwartz, Stephanie Savage and Jordan Weiss to Write and Executive Produce; Alicia Silverstone and Original Film Writer and Director Amy Heckerling to Also Serve as Executive Producers

Produced by CBS Studios, Filming is Slated to Begin in Los Angeles in 2027

Alicia Silverstone as Cher Holowitz | Clueless
Paramount Pictures

July 30, 2026 – Paramount+ today announced it has greenlit a sequel event series to the cult-classic 90s teen comedy film, Clueless. Alicia Silverstone will reprise her role as the Beverly Hills’ it-girl Cher Horowitz and will also serve as an executive producer for the series, set to begin production in Los Angeles in 2027.

  • Picking up 30 years after the original film, beloved Beverly Hills icon Cher Horowitz has figured out a lot: She’s successful in business and has mastered motherhood—that is, until her daughter’s high school years, and Cher finds that parenting a teenager makes her feel “clueless” all over again.
  • Produced by CBS Studios, the series is written and executive produced by Josh Schwartz & Stephanie Savage (The OC, Gossip Girl, Nancy Drew) via Fake Empire, and Jordan Weiss (Freakier Friday, Dollface). Alicia Silverstone, Amy Heckerling, who wrote and directed the original film, and original film producer Robert Lawrence will also serve as executive producers.
  • Last Summer, Paramount Pictures’ Clueless celebrated its milestone 30th anniversary, during which members of the original cast and movie’s director reunited at a 35mm screening of the film at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures. The film was also recently added to the United States National Film Registry by the Library of Congress.
  • "Clueless is coming home," said Jane Wiseman, Head of Originals for Paramount+. "Thirty-one years ago, Alicia Silverstone's Cher Horowitz captivated audiences with her signature chic style, sharp wit and relentless optimism, helping make Clueless a box office hit and instant pop culture classic. We're especially proud to be filming this much-anticipated series in Los Angeles, honoring its starring role in the original film while investing in the city’s exceptional talent and crews.”
  • The series will premiere globally and exclusively on Paramount+.
  • This announcement follows greenlights for additional Paramount+ originals including Laird starring Kenneth Branagh, Fear Not starring Anne Hathaway, 9/12 starring Jeremy Strong and Discretion starring Nicole Kidman and Elle Fanning, as well as season renewals for record-setting series like Dutton Ranch and The Madison.

Frisco King: ‘Tulsa King’ Spinoff Starring Samuel L. Jackson Gets New Title After Moving Setting From NOLA To Frisco, TX; Taylor Sheridan Writing All Episodes

Taylor Sheridan‘s upcoming Tulsa King spinoff for Paramount+ starring Samuel L. Jackson has been officially renamed to Frisco King after the series, formally known as NOLA King, has undergone a creative overhaul. Once set in New Orleans with a pilot script by Dave Erickson, the offshoot will now be set in Frisco, TX (thus the new title), with Sheridan writing all eight episodes.

Erickson, who had been set to serve as showrunner on the new series, departed in July. No new showrunner has been named, and it’s unclear whether Frisco King will have one; not all Taylor Sheridan series do.

Casting is currently underway for the spinoff, which will begin filming late March in Fort Worth, TX where Sheridan and his collaborator David C. Glasser opened a production campus last year with backing from Paramount.

Sheridan previously wrote the first seasons of Yellowstone and Mayor of Kingstown, as well as every episode of Yellowstone spinoffs 1883 and 1923 and every episode to date of Lioness and Landman. On Tulsa King, he is only credited as co-writer of the pilot episode so far. In September, the drama, starring and executive produced by Sylvester Stallone, was renewed for Season 4.

“We are honored to have Taylor Sheridan write the first season of Frisco King and bring to life Samuel L. Jackson’s iconic character,” said Matt Thunell, President, Paramount Television Studios. “Having him pen all episodes of the season with his singular voice will be a treat for fans of Tulsa King and audiences around the world.”

Sheridan’s recruitment to pen the entire first season of Frisco King comes after the regime change at Paramount; this marks the first new series from the prolific writer-producer to go into production under the new leadership at Paramount+ and Paramount TV Studios, Taylor Sheridan’s studio home until he departs for NBCUniversal in January, 2029.

“Taylor Sheridan continues to build worlds that attract some of the most iconic talent working today, and Frisco King is no exception,” said Jane Wiseman, Head of Originals at Paramount+. “Having Samuel L. Jackson step into this universe is a testament to the scale and ambition of the storytelling Taylor is crafting. We’re thrilled to expand this storyline with such a powerhouse creative team and cast on Paramount+.”

Jackson’s character, Russell Lee Washington Jr., was first introduced in the third season of Tulsa King, which premiered in September on Paramount+.

Produced by Paramount Television Studios and 101 Studios, Frisco King is executive produced by Sheridan, Stallone, Jackson. Glasser, Ron Burkle, David Hutkin, Bob Yari, Christina Alexandra Voros, Michael Friedman, LaTanya Richardson Jackson and Keith Cox also executive produce.

NEW YORK----Today, Vornado Realty Trust (NYSE: VNO), Hudson Pacific Properties, Inc. (NYSE: HPP), and Blackstone Real Estate, joint venture partners behind Sunset Pier 94 Studios, Manhattan’s first purpose-built studio facility, announced Paramount Television Studios has signed the first lease ahead of the studio’s opening this month. Paramount Television Studios’ lease of 70,000 square feet will be used for filming the second season of the Showtime original series Dexter: Resurrection for Paramount+. The series will occupy elements of the facility in phases, including two sound stages, production support and office spaces.

Drew Brown, EVP of Production for Paramount Television Studios said: "We are thrilled to bring the second season of Dexter: Resurrection to Sunset Pier 94 Studios and its state-of-the-art facilities and sound stages. Last season saw Dexter move to New York City—and now we look forward to following suit, gaining greater access to the region’s incredible creative talent, leveraging a competitive tax credit program and reinforcing our commitment to US production."

Empire State Development President, CEO and Commissioner Hope Knight said: "Congratulations to Sunset Pier 94 Studios on booking the second season of Paramount Television Studios' Dexter: Resurrection. We're proud that season one was filmed right here in New York, generating significant economic impact in our neighborhoods through jobs and small business spending. Governor Hochul's expansion of the film production tax credit and initiatives like Production+ are incentivizing companies like Paramount Television Studios—which has filmed in New York for decades—to continue investing in our state. We look forward to welcoming more projects to Sunset Pier 94's stages as this world-class facility opens its doors."

Victor Coleman, Chairman and CEO of Hudson Pacific, said: "Sunset Studios’ success in attracting and retaining top-tier productions across multiple seasons speaks to the caliber of our studios and services, and we look forward to the opportunity to expand our relationship with Paramount on the lot. Robust pre-leasing interest in Sunset Pier 94 Studios underscores the project’s unmatched quality and prime location—there is truly nothing else like it in the market, and we look forward to announcing additional leases soon."

Sunset Pier 94 Studios is a one-of-a-kind facility totaling 232,000 square feet of leasable stages, production support space and offices with on-site parking and ample opportunities for exterior signage. The six purpose-built sound stages feature up to 36-foot clear heights and easy access to the facility’s on-site mill, while the 145,000 square feet of production support space and offices offer abundant natural light and stunning Hudson River views. These features, combined with the facility’s ideal Manhattan location and the recently expanded New York State tax credits, have led to strong demand for the project, with the initial lease signed before full project delivery and significant interest in large blocks of space in the pipeline.

The New York City Economic Development Corporation has been a key partner, working closely with the joint venture throughout the entire project. In addition to the state-of-the-art studio facility, Sunset Pier 94 Studios offers significant community benefits, including an extension of Hudson River Park with new public restrooms, 25,000 square feet of waterfront open space and pier access, nearly 2,000 square feet of community amenity space, as well as safety improvements to the bikeway that have received rave reviews from cyclists. Workforce development and training programs associated with the studio will connect local residents to opportunities in film, television, commercial and other media production. In total, Sunset Pier 94 Studios is expected to create 400 permanent jobs and contribute $6.4 billion to the local economy over the next 30 years.

'Hey Dude' Cast Reunites at the Ranch, 35 Years After Nickelodeon Show's Conclusion

The cast of the early Nickelodeon hit reunited at the very ranch where they filmed the show, which ended 35 years ago this summer

Hey Dude, the gang is back together!

The cast of Hey Dude, the Nickelodeon Western comedy series that followed a group of teen ranch workers, reunited at the Tanque Verde Ranch in Tuscon, Arizona, where the series was filmed, for a special episode of the Hey Dude... The 90's Called! podcast.

The live reunion aired on Saturday, January 31, 2026, 35 years after the show came to a conclusion in August 1991. Hosts Christine Taylor and David Lascher had fun taking a trip down memory lane with their fellow cast and crew members — David Brisbin, Kelly Brown, Debra Kalman, Joe Torres, Geoffrey Coy, Jonathan Galkin, and Josh Tygiel.

During their chat, Brown, who played Brad, talked about revisiting what's left of the set, which still remains in the area.

'Hey Dude' cast reunion

"It felt like, well, 'This is what the last few seconds must be like when you leave the Earth,' because [I felt] everything," she began.

"I pulled through those gates and it was, all the memories, everything, was flooding. And I actually went yesterday, before all you guys, because I knew I was gonna be emotional," Brown admitted.

"I got the cries and the tears out and the choking up. I got it all out yesterday. It was emotional. It was very emotional. We spent a lot of time there... It was very intense."

'Hey Dude' cast and crew reunion

"And also, a lot of it is just not there," Taylor, who played Melody, pointed out. "That's also very surreal. Like, our bunk house, Brad and Melody's bunk house, gone."

"Rubble," Brown agreed.

Hey Dude premiered on Nickelodeon in July 1989 and ran for five seasons until Aug. 1991. Casting for the series was done, in part, in the Tucson area. Tygiel, who played Buddy, was cast through local auditions, which is ironic because Buddy was new to ranch life in the show's action.

Each season took place over the summer and dealt with coming-of-age issues like friends and romance, while also spotlighting ranch life.

The reunion will be available in full for listeners who couldn't make the live stream as an episode of Hey Dude... The 90's Called!, which Taylor and Lascher have hosted since 2022, in the coming weeks.

From People:

Hey Dude Alum Joe Torres Explains Why His Favorite Episode Is One He Was 'Written Out of' After an Off-Set Accident

The cast of the early Nickelodeon hit shared laughs and memories as they reunited on the ranch where it all began, 35 years after the series' conclusion

NEED TO KNOW

  • Hey Dude premiered on Nickelodeon in July 1989 and ran for five seasons until Aug. 1991
  • Original cast members Christine Taylor, David Lascher, David Brisbin, Kelly Brown, Debra Kalman, Joe Torres, Geoffrey Coy, Jonathan Galkin and Josh Tygiel participated in a live reunion at the Tanque Verde Ranch in Tucson, Arizona, where the series was filmed
  • The cast members talked favorite episodes and best memories, which will be featured as an upcoming episode of Taylor and Lascher's podcast, Hey Dude... The 90's Called!

The Hey Dude cast always had each other's backs!

When discussing favorite episodes of the series during their recent reunion at the Tanque Verde Ranch in Tucson, Arizona, where the series was filmed, Joe Torres, who played Danny Lightfoot, laughed with Christine Taylor as they remembered a storyline that was transferred from him to her after a mishap left him unable to be in the episode.

While the costars didn't specify which episode, Torres began by joking, "My favorite episode was the one that I got written out of."

Taylor called the moment a "great story," urging Torres to share the background of an off-set injury that led him to miss the episode.

"At that time, I was into really into mountain biking. I went on an ill-fated ride, a midnight ride up Sabino Canyon, and coming back down, I hit... they have a stone bridge and there's a turn, and I hit that bridge, went over and landed in the like a wash," he recalled.

"Luckily, there were other people riding with me, and they were able to get me up, get me out."

While Taylor remembered Torres having a dislocated shoulder, he clarified, "I broke my collarbone."

As for the episode scheduled for that time, Torres noted it was "an episode I was fairly prominent in," explaining, "So, she was me," referring to Taylor, adding, "That was my favorite."

Taylor admitted, "I don't remember it at all, but Joe remembers it [because] it made no sense that I was the one who was suddenly put into that episode. But I forgot about that injury, I really forgot about that."

David Lascher, who costarred on the show and is Taylor's cohost on Hey Dude... The 90's Called! podcast, joked, "Christine wanted that storyline really bad."

Leaning into the joke, Taylor laughed, adding, "I knew some local guys that may have messed with your brakes."

Torres laughed, noting, "I would not put it past..."

"Sweet Melody," Taylor finished the thought.

Hey Dude premiered on Nickelodeon in July 1989 and ran for five seasons until Aug. 1991. Each season took place over the summer and dealt with coming-of-age issues like friends and romance, while also spotlighting ranch life.

The reunion will be available in full for listeners who couldn't make the live stream as an episode of Hey Dude... The 90's Called! in the coming weeks.

'Clash of the Thundermans' Filming Gets Temporarily Delayed After Fake Bomb Threat

The movie’s star posted her perspective of the event on social media.

The Thundermans are no stranger to facing danger head on, but the cast of Nickelodeon's hit comedy franchise recently faced real danger after a false bomb threat was reported to the filming location of their brand new movie, Clash of the Thundermans.

The film sequel to the hit comedy series The Thundermans had just commenced filming in British Columbia, Canada at Simon Fraser University’s Burnaby campus on Thursday, July 31 when the college was unexpectedly shut down due to reports of a bomb.

The campus was closed for almost two hours before police gave the all clear.

Simon Fraser University itself posted an alert just before 1 p.m., saying the road to campus was closed until further notice. Police later concluded it was a false alarm, with RCMP spokeswoman Corporal Laura Hirst telling the Vancouver Sun that police closed the campus as a precaution before discovering the threat was unfounded.

“As part of the active and dynamic investigation, all evidence at this point leads to a ‘swatting’ situation,” she said. Swatting is the placing of a prank emergency call designed to spark a large-scale response from first responders, sometimes with a specific person or institution as the target of the hoax.

Hirst also added that police are attempting to identify the caller who reported the fake threat.

It's understood that no cape-wearing evil bunnies are being sought after in the investigation.

Kira Kosarin, who plays Thundermans protagonist Phoebe Thunderman, posted an Instagram Reel four days ago about her experience with the shut down, in a behind-the-scenes look at her day-to-day routine.

In the Reel, she describes how the cast and crew were filming the movie’s “big opening scene” before “all of a sudden things stopped… the cops came, the whole campus was shut down.”

In Clash of the Thundermans, when Chloe develops a destructive new superpower, the Hero League orders her to an elite boarding school for superheroes to learn control of her abilities. Faced with the prospect of sending Chloe away for years, the Thundermans split apart, with Phoebe, Barb and Billy taking her into hiding. Max, Hank, and Nora track their rogue family members, until the two factions face off against each other in a full-on battle for the Thundermans’ future.

Ariel Winter (Modern FamilySofia the First) joins returning cast members Kira Kosarin as Phoebe Thunderman, Jack Griffo as Max Thunderman, Maya Le Clark as Chloe Thunderman, Addison Riecke as Nora Thunderman, Diego Velazquez as Billy Thunderman, Chris Tallman as Hank Thunderman and Rosa Blasi as Barb Thunderman. Winter will play Cognita.

Clash of the Thundermans will premiere day and date on Nickelodeon and Paramount+ in 2026.

The Thundermans premiered on Nickelodeon in October 2013 and wrapped its four-season run in 2018, ranking as the number-one series across all TV among Kids 2-11 and Kids 6-11. Created and executive produced by three-time Emmy Award-winner Jed Spingarn, the scripted half-hour series follows superhero twins with opposite personalities, Phoebe and Max Thunderman, as they navigate their way through school, friends and a family of extraordinary superheroes, all while keeping their true identities a secret. The show has seen a resurgence following its 4Q21 launch on streaming, where it quickly became the top title across all SVOD among Kids 6-11; and has continued to rank among the top titles with Kids 6-11.

The Thundermans Return movie premiered last year to stellar ratings, ranking as the number-one entertainment telecast for the year to date in Live+3 across all cable among Kids 6-11. It reached 1.6 million Total Viewers throughout its premiere weekend across airings on Nickelodeon and Nick At Nite (4 telecasts). The Thundermans Return follows twins Phoebe and Max who are enjoying their superhero lifestyle in a new city, but when one ‘save’ goes awry, the Thundermans are sent back to Hiddenville.

Building on the success of The Thundermans Return, Nickelodeon ordered spin-off series The Thundermans: Undercover, which debuted earlier this year. The spinoff series follows Phoebe and Max, who are sent undercover to handle a new threat in the seaside town of Secret Shores and bring Chloe along to develop her superhero talent. The show also stars Daran Norris as “Thunderford,” as well as new cast members Kinley Cunningham as “Booch” and Nathan Broxton as “Jinx.”

The Thundermans, The Thundermans Return and The Thundermans: Undercover also features Dana Snyder as the voice of “Dr. Colosso”.

Jed Spingarn, Sean W. Cunningham and Marc Dworkin (The Thundermans Return, The Thundermans: Undercover) return to write and executive produce the movie. Kosarin and Griffo also executive produce, along with Richard Bullock. Trevor Kirschner directs and serves as co-executive producer.
