The UK's number one amusement park would love dancers, singers, hosts and character performers to join the team in the UK’S only Nickelodeon Land. They need enthusiastic, confident and hardworking individuals who strive in delivering amazing entertainment to all their guests. Team Nick are Nickelodeon's ambassadors at Pleasure Beach, Blackpool, where they'll make friends with Nickelodeon Stars, such as SpongeBob SquarePants, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Dora the Explorer.

Blackpool Pleasure Beach holds open auditions

Team Nick at Blackpool Pleasure Beach were drenched by Nickelodeon Land characters after taking part in the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge

Open casting calls for the Pleasure Beach’s entertainment team are taking place this month. READ MORE: Entertainment news The South Shore attraction is seeking various performers to join the in-park entertainment team for the 2018 season as well as casting dancers for festive productions. The entertainment team are responsible for hosting and bringing to life daily character meet and greets and appearances in Nickelodeon Land and across the park, as well as dancing, hosting and presenting at events such as late night riding throughout the year.

A spokesman said: “We are looking to recruit talented performers to join our entertainment team.

“Singers, dancers, character performers are all welcome to apply to be the faces of our on park entertainment team.

“These exciting opportunities offer many benefits and chances to progress in the future.”

Applicants should ‘ideally’ be between 4ft 11ins and 6ft tall.

The entertainment team casting takes place on Thursday, February 23, registration from 4.30pm to start at 5pm.

Dancers are also being sought for Stageworks Worldwide Productions 2018 cast.

Stageworks is the Pleasure Beach’s sister company responsible for Hot Ice, as well as the Paradise cabaret shows and pantomime.

The dancers’ casting is on Friday, February 23, 9.30am registration for a 10am start.

The spokesman added that female dancers should be 5ft 5ins and above, males 5ft 11ins and above. Females are asked to bring pointe and tap shoes and heels, while men are required to bring jazz and tap shoes. Both are advised to wear tight-fitting dance attire and to ‘dress to impress’.

Dancers will be required for rehearsals from October 31 to November 2, and performances from November 22 to December 31. Although singing is not a requirement for either the entertainment team or the dancers, anyone keen to show their vocal skills is asked to bring backing tracks for two contrasting songs.

Nickelodeon Favourites Join Santa Claus At Blackpool Pleasure Beach's Christmas Grotto

Children can meet their favourite Nicktoons characters at Blackpool's Christmas grotto this year!

As well as having the chance to meet Santa Claus, the resort's "Winter Wonderland" will play host to SpongeBob SquarePants, Dora the Explorer, Chase and Marshall from PAW Patrol and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles!

Families can make a day of it by visiting Blackpool Pleasure Beach grotto, which is open at weekends between now and Christmas and for the whole week in the run-up to Christmas Eve.

Children can have their photo taken with the Nickelodeon characters, tie a Christmas wish to the beautifully decorated tree and then visit the arena for some ice skating fun.

On certain dates - December 11, 17, 18 and 24 – ice skating finishes at 1pm for a 2.30pm performance of Alice In Wonderland on Ice.

Anyone booking a grotto visit on these dates will get a ticket to watch the show from the Blackpool Ice Drome Charities Association.

A visit to the Nicktoons' Ho Ho Ho Christmas Grotto costs £10.99 online, or £12.99 on the day, and includes entrance to the grotto, a Diamond Pass gift from Santa, ice skating, skate hire and a choice of tea, coffee or hot chocolate.

A Diamond Pass entitles you to a Pleasure Beach Pass for every day of the 2017 season - giving you admission to the park.

It allows you to ride on the Pleasure Beach Express, explore the Chinese Puzzle Maze, see the Spectacular Dancing Water Show, and visit Bradley and Bella's Learning Garden.

Pass holders can also get £5 off the cost of an unlimited ride wristband (2017 prices to be announced).

A spokesman for the pleasure beach said: "The grotto is a festive, enchanted, Winter Wonderland full of magic and sparkling lights.

"Santa Claus will be paying a visit to give every good boy and girl a Blackpool Pleasure Beach Diamond Pass for the 2017 season and a special Nickelodeon gift."

Expected to entertain thousands, SLIMEFEST will feature two live shows, activities, characters, music and plenty of slime.

The SLIMEFEST live shows will take place at the Empress Ballroom at the Winter Gardens, with the outdoor festival staged on the Switch-On arena at the Tower Festival Headland. Highlights from SLIMEFEST will be broadcast on the Nickelodeon channel later in the month.

The UK edition of SLIMEFEST will be an immersive music and entertainment festival focusing on kids aged four to 15, and will feature costume character appearances, hands-on activities, games, music and much more!

Step Into Adventure This Season At Nickelodeon Land UK!

Team Nick, Nickelodeon's ambassadors at Nickelodeon Land at Pleasure Beach, Blackpool, have announced in a Tweet on their official Twitter profile page, @TeamNickBPB, some of the amazing events the Nick team has planned for guests to make the 2015 the biggest and best season ever at the UK's only Nickelodeon Land!

Throughout the year a Nickelodeon Land character will take centre stage at the attraction which will encourage younger guests to take part in fun activities with their favourite characters. There will be chance to rub shoulders with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, explore with Dora the Explorer and Diego and experience a Summer of Slime with all the Nickelodeon characters at the UK's only Nickelodeon Land!

Do the Sponge with SpongeBob - Saturday 28th March to Sunday 19th April 2015:

Get your dancing shoes on for a dance-off with a difference at Nickelodeon Land, Blackpool Pleasure Beach!

Saying goodbye to Bikini Bottom, Nickelodeon megastar SpongeBob SquarePants will be jetting off and joining his pals for a character themed month down at the six-acre attraction. Along with Patrick Star and his friends he will Step Into Adventure for the activities which will run throughout the season on Nickelodeon Land.

From March 28th you can join SpongeBob SquarePants and all his pals to Do The Sponge, a wacky dance competition where the winner will be crowned the Goofiest Goober and win some exclusive prizes. Prizes include Easter eggs, buildable SpongeBob Mega Bloks, SpongeBob Movie goodie bags and cinema tickets to go and see the new film, "The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water", as well as movie goodie bags.

For an egg-stra treat, during the Easter holidays there will be a number of competitions with SpongeBob and his pals. There's also a chance to take part in SpongeBob's Pantastic Challenge where you can throw sponges at Team Nick in an attempt to fill their pantastic pants.

Do the SpongeBob takes place from Saturday 28th March to Sunday 19th April 2015 every day at Nickelodeon Land, Blackpool Pleasure Beach and is free to enter for all ages.

Copy Poppy - Monday 20th April and Friday 22nd May 2015:

Nick Jr. UK star Poppy Cat will be returning to Nickelodeon Land this Spring! During the event, Poppy will be participating in special Meet and Greet sessions with her fans, and there will also be a chance to get healthy and dance along to an energetic "Copy Poppy" routine, where families are encouraged to mimic the costume characters' dance movements in time with the Poppy Cat theme tune several times a day on the Nickelodeon Land stage!

Copy Poppy takes place between Monday 20th April and Friday 22nd May 2015.

Explore with Dora - Saturday 23rd May and Tuesday 30th June 2015:

Nickelodeon's preschool superstars Dora the Explorer and her cousin Diego will be visiting Nickelodeon Land for a month long fiesta, which will take place between Saturday 23rd May and Tuesday 30th June 2015!

Summer of Slime - Wednesday 1st July and Monday 31st August 2015:

Experience a Summer of Slime with all your favourite Nickelodeon characters at Nickelodeon Land this summer! Taking place between Wednesday 1st July and Monday 31st August 2015, Nickelodeon Land's Summer of Slime will be the very first time that Blackpool Pleasure Beach has had Nickelodeon's famous slime at the park!

Turtle Time - Tuesday 1st September and Saturday 31st October 2015:

Cowabunga, dude! Nickelodeon's fearless Heroes in a Half Shell - Leonardo, Raphael, Michelangelo and Donatello - will be taking a break from fighting crime on the mean streets of New York to meet and greet some of their biggest UK fans!

Leo, Mikey, Raph and Donnie will be showing off their ninja moves, hosting Ninja dance competitions with guests, and taking part in face-painting activities every day throughout the month from Wednesday 1st October 2014 to Friday 31st October 2014! Turtle Time will take place between Tuesday 1st September and Saturday 31st October 2015!

Nickelodeon Land UK Plans More Exciting Activities For 2015, Including Summer Of Slime

Jason Taylor, the Production & Logistics Manager at Stageworks Worldwide Productions & Blackpool Pleasure Beach, has announced the aweslime news in a interview with the Blackpool Gazette, below, that, following the introduction of on-park activities at Pleasure Beach, Blackpool in 2014, Nickelodeon's Team Nick gang at Nickelodeon Land are planning to make 2015 the biggest and best year ever at the UK's only Nickelodeon Land, with preparations under way for a host of exciting activities, including Nickelodeon Land's first-ever Summer Of Slime, which will be the very first time that Blackpool Pleasure Beach had slime at the park! Nickelodeon Megastar SpongeBob SquarePants, who will be starring in his brand-new movie in March 2015, will also be visiting the park in 2015!

The Blackpool Gazette also reports that Team Nick, Nickelodeon's ambassadors at Pleasure Beach, Blackpool, will be holding auditions for new recruits later this month!

The Blackpool Gazette's article also gives readers a exclusive behind-the-scenes look at what goes on at Blackpool Pleasure Beach when the amusement park is closed for maintenance during the winter, and talks about what the theme park has in store for visitors in 2015, including Skyforce, a brand-new Red Arrows-inspired flying experience, scheduled to open in Spring 2015, which will allow visitors to make their ride as thrilling or as simple as they choose in self-piloted 'planes'!

Pleasure Beach, Blackpool reopens from its Winter break on Saturday 7th February 2015!:

Getting ready for the new season at the Pleasure Beach

Preparations are underway for the re-opening of the Pleasure Beach for the new season. The site of the Red Arrows Skyforce ride.

It's a classic horror movie cliché, the closed down fairground; eerily quiet and strange characters lurking in dark corners.

And on a bitterly cold February morning, Blackpool Pleasure Beach could easily be the set of a scary movie.

You don't realise just how noisy a theme park is until you set foot inside the gates when it's closed.

There's no rattling of the Grand National, no whooshing of the Big One, and no splashing of the river flume in Nickelodeon Land.

There's certainly no screaming as thrillseekers brave the rides, nor the cheerful hubbub of friends and families racing round the 44-acre South Shore site.

Instead, you might catch glimpse of a fork lift shifting tubs of water or crates of weights, a mini digger clearing debris or sky-high cranes around the park's oldest ride, and the latest recruits to the team arriving for training.

And perhaps the 'scariest' thing you might encounter are the independent inspectors, who actually make regular visits to the park throughout the year to keep tabs on the rolling programme of works.

The finishing touches are being put in place for the new season, which sees the Pleasure Beach reopen for weekends on Saturday, but there's surprisingly a lot of work still going on – even with just a few days to go.

Among the biggest changes taking place for 2015 is the demolition of the old monorail station, opposite the Wallace and Gromit Thrill-O-Matic – opening up the overpass area which links the two ends of the park.

Another major project has been refurbishing the 110-year-old Flying 
Machines, complete with new aircraft although they've retained the old-school, traditional feel.

From the oldest to the newest, also under way are the groundworks for Skyforce – a Red Arrows-inspired flying experience, due to open in the spring, which allows visitors to make their ride as thrilling or as simple as they choose in self-piloted 'planes'.

Alex Payne and Jason Taylor are among those in charge of preparing the park to open again after the winter break.

As technical director, Alex's job behind the scenes is to oversee the maintenance work onsite as well as the new build schemes.

In his office, tucked between the Grand National and Valhalla, it's seldom quiet.

In-season, the never-end of the whirl of the attraction goes on around them, and come the 'short' winter the team springs into life.

"You only really notice the noise, or lack of it, when it changes," he said. "So as the park reopens or closes, that's when you pick up on it."

Alex's team fights a never-ending battle against corrosion, as the park's buffeted by the winds off the Irish Sea, blasting the sand and salt water into the rides.

Skyforce, in the shadow of the Big One's main climb, will be one of the most 
exposed rides onsite, and a special method has been developed to hopefully delay the onset of corrosion, while existing rides are showered with love by the team onsite and contractors.

"There's a team of abseilers working on the Big One during the closed season, chipping off the paint, repairing corrosion and reapplying paint." Alex said.

"At 120ft up, at the return bend of the Big One, it's battered by everything. The paint is blasted off by the sand in the air and then the sea air gets into the metal-work. We have to give it as much love as we can. With all the rides, it's a case of delaying the onset as we'll never stop it given where we are. I cannot emphasise what a problem corrosion is for us."

The 75-strong in-house team of engineers works year-round to look after the site, with contractors providing additional specialist services.

This week the last of the rides are being pieced back together, and water tanks are refilled – as no matter how cold the forecast may be, guests to the park will still want to tackle the water rides such as the soaking-promising Valhalla, the kids' Rugrats Lost River log flume and white-knuckle coaster Infusion.

Valhalla is one of the first rides back in action each year after the closedown maintenance programme, as it takes so long to be ready for riders.

"It takes about a week to refill," Alex explained. "So the maintenance works have to be complete pretty much straight after Christmas, to allow it to refill and to then be able to do testing.

"There's so much to the ride, with integrating the effects system and the mechanics, that's it's always a big task.

"Servicing the boats is a rolling programme, and they'll go into the workshop throughout the season, and that applies across the park."

Jason Taylor, production and logistics manager, is more front-of-house, heading up the on-park entertainment team among other things. Most of his Team Nick staff have winter jobs with the Pleasure Beach, and new recruits will be auditioned later this month, with preparations under way for a host of fun activities.

"Last year we introduced on-park activities and this year we want to really push it forward," he said.

"We've got a Summer Of Slime planned, which is awesome and will be the first time we've had slime on park – for the guests and the staff. Where we had the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' film last year, this year there will be Spongebob Squarepants and Shaun the Sheep movies and they're both so popular as characters here – so that's another great way to enhance the experience for visitors."

The Blackpool Gazette is reporting the very exciting news in the following article that singers, dancers and actors are all invited to an open audition call on Thursday 31st July 2014 to join Team Nick, Nickelodeon's ambassadors at Pleasure Beach, Blackpool, where they'll make friends with Nickelodeon Stars, such as SpongeBob SquarePants, the "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" and "Dora the Explorer"!

The Pleasure Beach, earlier this month named the best amusement park in the UK by website TripAdvisor, 
welcomes around 7.8 million visitors each year, and Team Nick manager Jason Taylor says his staff need to be ready and willing to meet every single one of them.

As well as the Nickelodeon characters, Team Nick has a daily show, and 'meet and greet' or 'clap and wave' sessions with the Pleasure Beach's own characters and family favourites "Wallace and Gromit".

Auditionees don't have to have performance experience, so long as they have confidence in front of a crowd and can entertain.

With full and part-time work available, the job is ideal for college students – although there is no upper age limit. Team Nick members have to be aged 16-plus.

The audition starts at 2pm at the Pleasure Beach Arena dance studio.

"Team Nick members are the face of the Pleasure Beach and the first people that many of our visitors see when they arrive."
