Peppa Pig Theme Park Debuts New Inclusive Look for George Pig

To celebrate World Hearing Day, Peppa Pig Theme Park Florida and Dallas-Fort Worth are debuting a new look for the George meet and greet character to reflect a new storyline regarding his hearing loss.

There's been a couple of big changes for Peppa Pig and her family over the last year. Back in May, Peppa’s family welcomed a new addition with the birth of baby Evie Pig and the family moved into a bigger house, but that’s not all that’s new in Peppatown. In an upcoming episode of the beloved children’s show, titled "Hearing Test," the family learns that George Pig has moderate hearing loss in one ear. To help him experience sound in a new way, he is fitted with a hearing aid, which is now reflected in his theme park look. You can find out more about Georgie's hearing loss storyline here.

Inside of the Peppa Pig theme parks, guests can continue to meet George and play with him and his sister through interactive shows, he’ll just be sporting a slightly new look. George Pig wearing a hearing aid in-park will reflect his journey on-screen. This addition is in line with the park’s inclusive story telling and accessibility. Peppa Pig Theme Parks are also Certified Autism Centers.

When kids meet George in his new look, they’ll learn that not every child experiences the world in the same way, but that doesn’t make them any less special.

Park officials say the change reinforces inclusive storytelling and accessibility and builds on the park's IBCCES Certified Autism Center designation, with staff trained in sensory, environmental, and emotional awareness.

The TV Foundation Announces 17 Founding Class Confident Organisations

The TV Foundation Announces 17 Founding Class Confident Organisations

Broadcasters and production companies join the movement to improve working class representation in the TV industry.

Tuesday 27th January 2026

Published today, The TV Foundation announces the 17 founding Class Confident organisations. They have all applied to join the Class Confident movement to remove barriers for people from working class backgrounds to get into and stay in the TV industry.

The founding members are:  All3Media, Banijay UK, BBC, BBC Studios, Channel 4, Fremantle UK, Hat Trick Productions, ITV, Multitude Media, Paramount, Purple Productions (part of Objective Media Group), South Shore, Studio Lambert, The Farm, The Garden (part of ITV Studios), XXIV Communications and Zinc Media Group.

Part of the ongoing work of The TV Foundation’s class and social equality working group, the Class Confident movement is a way to recognise and support organisations – big and small – that are innovating and leading the cultural shift we need to make the TV industry class confident.

To join, organisations must show how they are meeting the Class Confident Actions, a series of prompts to remove barriers for people from working class backgrounds to work in TV. The Actions were launched by The TV Foundation at the Edinburgh TV Festival 2025 and can be found on the TV Foundation website alongside details on how to the apply, for companies across the industry to get involved.

You don’t have to have all the answers to be a Class Confident organisation, but you do need to show that you have recognised the additional hurdles that class presents and you are committed to implementing change, as all founding member organisations have done in their application to the movement. We want industry professionals to feel confident they can have real conversations about class with these founding partners.

Working class audiences are TVs largest potential audience but this is not reflected in the TV industry workforce. The TV Foundation’s report Let’s Talk About Class: Appealing to the UK’s Largest Audience, found that nearly 1 in 4 people in senior TV roles have the cultural and economic advantages of a private school education, over three times higher than the 7.5% of the general population who are privately educated. Successful applicants will join a peer-learning network to share best practice and learn from the challenges they have faced. They will also benefit from discounted rates to the Edinburgh TV Festival 2026.

The TV Foundation is now inviting companies across the TV industry to apply to becoming Class Confident. The application form is available on the TV Foundation website. thetvfestival.com/tv-foundation/class-social-equality/

Gemma Bradshaw, Impact Director, The TV Foundation: “When we first started talking about working class voices in the industry it was a taboo topic. Now some of the biggest players in the industry are putting their hands up, ready to do more. We’re thrilled to see so many organisations already taking action to improve class representation and we’re keen to hear from more TV companies that want to join us. This is not a checklist or the end point; it’s the start of a movement to make the industry accessible to all.”

Paramount Global Set To Shift On DEI As Trump Directives Cycle Through Media

In a memo to staff on Wednesday, February 26, Paramount Global’s co-CEOs — George Cheeks, Chris McCarthy and Brian Robbins – advised on “changes in the way the company approaches inclusion moving forward,” the latest to capitulate to the Trump administration’s attempt to roll back DEI. “As a result, some of our policies must change to comply with these new mandates,” they said.

Paramount Mountain

Following Disney and companies in media, tech and across industries, the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion metric in its short-term incentive plan will disappear. The incentives will now be based on a Workforce Culture and Development qualitative metric, “focused on building a high-performing and inclusive culture, including through developing leadership and engaging our workforce. ”

The company will no longer measure “success in progress on companywide DEI initiatives, including aspirational representation goals,” the execs wrote in the memo, obtained by Deadline. It will no longer ”set or use aspirational numerical goals related to the race, ethnicity, sex or gender of hires” and has stopped collecting rata on race, ethnicity, sex or gender data for U.S. job applicants on its forms and careers page save in markets where it’s legally required to.

Paramount and many others corporate American, prodded in particular by a national conversation on race after the police murder of George Floyd in 2020, had proudly hire DEI experts and began to roll out lengthy reports with charts, graphs and lots of numbers measuring progress in diversity. This is no more.

Earlier this month, Donald Trump-appointed FCC Commissioner Brendan Carr launched an investigation of Comcast’s DEI efforts claiming they may violate equal opportunity laws.

On Friday, a federal judge issued a temporary injunction blocking President Donald Trump from enforcing a majority of two Executive Orders to eliminate DEI initiatives in government agencies, educational institutions and the private sector. The first is called Ending Radical and Wasteful Government DEI Programs and Preferencing, the second Ending Illegal Discrimination and Restoring Merit-Based Opportunity. The court ruled that both orders violate the First and Fifth Amendments and are antithetical to federal anti-discrimination law.

Full memo below:

Hi Everyone,

To mark the close of 2024, we wanted to update you on certain policy changes we are making. As you may be aware, the current Administration’s Executive Order, a Supreme Court decision, and federal mandates require changes in the way the company approaches inclusion moving forward. As a result, some of our policies must change to comply with these new mandates, including:

Staffing Goals: We will no longer set or use aspirational numerical goals related to the race, ethnicity, sex or gender of hires. We continue to welcome talent of all backgrounds.

Gender and Diversity Data: We have ended our policy of collecting race, ethnicity, sex or gender data for U.S. job applicants on our forms and careers page, except in those markets that legally require us to do so.

In addition, we have eliminated the “Diversity, Equity and Inclusion” qualitative metric in our Short-Term Incentive Plan (STIP) for qualified participants. This metric directly connected 5% of funding for our STIP program to the company’s success in progress on companywide DEI initiatives, including aspirational representation goals. We now base 10% of STIP funding on our Workforce Culture and Development qualitative metric, which is focused on building a high-performing and inclusive culture, including through developing leadership and engaging our workforce.

With our business objectives firmly in mind, we will continue to evaluate our programs and approach to ensure that we are widening our aperture to attract talent from all geographies, backgrounds and perspectives. That may mean expanding existing programs while ending others. As our policies continue to evolve in the future, we will be sure to share those updates with you.

To be the best storytellers and to continue to drive success, we must have a highly talented, dedicated and creative workforce that reflects the perspectives and experiences of our many different audiences. Values like inclusivity and collaboration are a part of the Paramount culture and will continue to be.

Best,
George, Chris and Brian

'PAW Patrol' Issues Casting Call For New Character 'Jack the Labrador'

Larissa Mair Casting & Associates Inc. has announced that they are currently seeking a young performer across Ontario to voice a new character named Jack in PAW Patrol, Nickelodeon's beloved CG-animated preschool series, produced by Spin Master Entertainment!

Jack the Labrador casting call for 'PAW Patrol' flyer

Jack is described as a Labrador who uses a wheelchair, and, as the production is committed to authentic and inclusive representation, it is looking for a child actor aged between 7 and 14 with a physical disability to bring this role to life.

The successful applicant will be paid the industry-standard pay for voice acting roles.

The PAW Patrol casting call was issued on Friday, January 31, 2025, and is set to close on Saturday, March 1, 2025. Actors are invited to apply for this role via the Project Casting website.

Interestingly, Larissa Mair Casting & Associates Inc. issued a casting call for a similar character named Dexter for the upcoming third PAW Patrol theatrical movie last February. Like Jack the Labrador, Dexter uses a wheelchair to get around, however, Dexter is described as a Golden Retriever. It's currently unknown whether Jack and Dexter is the same character, with changes made during production of the movie. It is also thought that Jack and Dexter are codenames to hide their real names to prevent spoilers. One suggestion is that the Dexter casting call may have been for Rex, as their character descriptions are very similar.

Nickelodeon Welcomes Seven Emerging Creatives to Join the Studio's Annual Writing and Artist Programs

NICKELODEON WELCOMES SEVEN EMERGING CREATIVES TO JOIN THE STUDIO’S ANNUAL WRITING AND ARTIST PROGRAMS

Nickelodeon Splat Logo (2023 Rebrand)

Share it: @Nickelodeon, @NickAnimation

BURBANK, Calif. – January 31, 2025 – Nickelodeon has selected seven emerging creatives to join its studio’s esteemed annual Writing and Artist Programs. Designed to cultivate and foster the development of emerging talent, both programs offer opportunities to voices with unique perspectives. The 2025 participants will work from the Nickelodeon Animation Studio in Burbank.

“Nickelodeon is thrilled to welcome this year’s talented artists and storytellers to the Writing and Artist Programs, which continue to cultivate incredible voices,” said Jean Margaret Smith, Senior Vice President, Public Affairs, Nickelodeon. “Celebrating the 25th anniversary of the Writing Program and the 14th year of the Artist Program, both further develop a pipeline of unique perspectives and content in the entertainment industry, a true must.”

Celebrating its historic 25th anniversary, the Writing Program has enlisted a cohort of aspiring writers to spend the year working on a robust curriculum that includes networking, executive mentorship, and tailored workshops hosted by program alumni. The group will also shadow Nickelodeon’s working writers’ rooms and gain hands-on experience while strengthening their improv and sketch comedy skills.

The Writing Program participants are:

Disha Manocha | Nickelodeon Writing Program 2025

Disha Manocha is a comedy writer from Mumbai, India, who grew up around storytelling. Inspired by her mother, a Hindi soap opera writer, her love for writing and television propelled her to move to Los Angeles, where she enrolled in graduate school at Chapman University. Manocha has also written and produced a comedy short film and has written for the Disney Television Talent Showcase. Her writing features characters who feel a little different and explores journeys navigating identity, community, and family.

Marcus Perkins | Nickelodeon Writing Program 2025

Marcus Perkins Bejarano is a Bolivian American storyteller named a “Rising Star” attorney at the largest law firm in Dallas, TX, before taking the only logical next step: quitting his job to pursue a career in comedy writing. Since obtaining an M.F.A. in Musical Theater Writing from NYU, he has co-written comedy songs featuring characters from the video game Genshin Impact that have amassed over 20 million YouTube views and 4.5 million Spotify streams to date. As a TV comedy writer, he is passionate about creating Latino characters who strive to embrace their most authentic selves, which mirrors his professional and cultural journeys.

Teddy Sevilla | Nickelodeon Writing Program 2025

Teddy Sevilla is a writer and comedian from suburban Massachusetts. Growing up in a Filipino, Irish, and Italian American family, he discovered a love of storytelling through the summer camp game “Mafia,” where he was always voted out first and thus tasked with narrating his friends’ fates. In college, he spent his days studying Evolutionary Biology and Studio Art and spent his nights writing jokes and drawing comics for multiple comedy publications on campus. He moved to Brooklyn, where he performs stand-up and works as a contributor at Clickhole and The Onion. During the pandemic, he joined TikTok, where his sketches have accumulated over 11 million likes, and his maximum attention span has dropped to 4.5 seconds.

Founded in 2011, the Artist Program creates opportunities for rising artists to cultivate an understanding of the production process and serve as a launchpad into the entertainment industry. Focused on mentorship, each artist is placed on a host production team where, over the next six months, they will work closely with a Senior Artist Mentor in addition to a Peer Mentor who has completed the same program.

The Artist Program participants are:

Wes Smith | Nickelodeon Artist Program

Born and raised in Pennsylvania, Wes Smith (Storyboard Path) developed a passion for art and animation through comics and video games. He pursued a Bachelor’s in Traditional Animation at the Savannah College of Art and Design with a minor in Sequential Art. Smith furthered his education at the School of Visual Arts, majoring in Computer Arts to master traditional and digital techniques. Now a recent graduate, he aims to create animated works that are both entertaining and inspiring for audiences of all ages. With a strong artistic foundation and technical expertise, he is ready to make his mark in the animation industry.

Lisa Bird | Nickelodeon Artist Program

Lisa Bird (CG Generalist Path) is a CG artist from picturesque Colorado. Growing up in a half-Japanese, half-American household, Bird’s sense of storytelling was shaped by watching Western cartoons and anime. While studying animation at Brigham Young University, she discovered the artistic possibilities that technology offers (as well as the technical possibilities that art offers) and fell in love with lighting. Bird loves to see various fields of animation come together to tell a story and believes that putting things in the right light can make the mundane magical.

Lauren Bird | Nickelodeon Artist Program

Lauren Bird (Visual Development Path) is a designer and illustrator from Interior Alaska. She traces her love of creating to a childhood spent scuffling in the woods and scribbling on printer paper. After years of drawing Geronimo Stilton-inspired mouse people and voraciously consuming cartoons, she brought the fire to Detroit to study Illustration at the College for Creative Studies. Her favorite artistic moments involve crayons, zaniness, and sincerity – it’s a good day when she gets to color outside the lines.

Anthony Hernandez | Nickelodeon Artist Program

Anthony Hernandez (Storyboard Path) is a Mexican American story artist from Palmdale, California. His love for stories was present throughout his life, beginning with frequent visits to the public library and expanding into the world of video games. This curiosity for narrative-driven experiences and visual storytelling ultimately led him to the captivating world of animation. Inspired by the ability to push creative boundaries and forge personal connections with audiences, Hernandez chose to pursue a career in storyboarding, where he aims to contribute to diverse and impactful stories.

Nickelodeon Writing Program Announces 2024 Participants

The participants for the Nickelodeon Writing Program 2024 (NWP) have been announced, ushering in a trio of rising talents from diverse communities with unique creative perspectives. This year’s select few are Paynudeh Allen, Sean Bloomstine and Tanvi Kumar.

Established in 2000, the Writing Program offers aspiring television writers with unique voices from underrepresented communities the opportunity to hone their skills and launch their careers as writers on Nickelodeon’s scripted live-action and animated television productions. As an incubator program, the Writing Programs identifies, inspires and mentors new creators to invigorate the Nickelodeon talent pipeline.

Within the Writing Program, all participants have the opportunity to network with executives and show creators, gain firsthand experience writing scripts, pitch story ideas, attend workshops, seminars and classes, and experience working writers’ rooms. These writers will develop their skills with hands-on work during the yearlong program.

During the program, the writers will be paired with executive mentors to offer guidance, including: Brittany Cope (VP, Live-Action Development), Nathan Schram (VP, Animation Development) and Leslie Wishnevski (Manager, Animation Development).

The NWP is building off of another successful year with all of the 2023 cohort working on Nick shows before they finished their time in the Program. The Program had 10 NWP alumni working on Nickelodeon shows at the same time last year, which is a record.

The NWP recently launched a new TV Comedy Writing Fellowship in partnership with Austin Film Festival and Screenwriters’ Conference, sponsoring a winning writer’s attendance at the conference. The NWP also be there in person for their annual Screenwriters’ Happy Hour event on October 26.

Submissions for the 25th year Writing Program open on July 1, 2024. For more information, visit @NickWriting on Twitter and @NickWritingProgram on Instagram and nickwriting.com.

Meet the Writers

Paynudeh Allen

Paynudeh Allen

Paynudeh Allen is a Liberian American comedy writer hailing from the great little state of Maryland. Beginning her L.A. career on the hallowed grounds of The Mailroom, she has served as support staff in many writers’ rooms, including the Emmy-nominated Alexa & Katie (Netflix), Marvel’s She-Hulk: Attorney at Law and Surfside Girls (Apple TV+). She is a proud graduate of Season 1 of TRIBE, a writers’ program created and led by Insecure executive producer and SuperSpecial founder, Amy Aniobi.

In her writing, Paynudeh enjoys exploring both the delightfully mundane and truly weird lives of Black ladies: from haunting their former bullies, to poorly navigating the apocalypse, to being uncool teen girls. If you insist, she will consider writing about men as well.

Sean Bloomstine

Sean Bloomstine

Sean Bloomstine is an LGBTQ+ writer and comedian from Erie, Pennsylvania. He attended Boston College, where he received a degree in Economics while pursuing his passion for comedy through improv and sketch. Upon graduating, he was accepted into the NBCUniversal Page Program and has since worked in various positions throughout the industry, most recently as showrunner’s assistant to Aseem Batra.

In 2021, Sean released a web series which he wrote, directed and starred in called Ricky Makes a Web Series! that received a coveted shoutout in his mom’s Christmas card that year. He also regularly performs stand-up and was named “Best of the Fest” at the 2022 Burbank Comedy Festival. He currently produces and hosts his own stand-up show, Comedy Cookies, featuring up-and-coming comedians — where everyone who attends receives a fresh-baked cookie from his family’s recipe book.

Tanvi Kumar

Tanvi Kumar

Tanvi Kumar is a writer, comedian and pop culture enthusiast. Born in New Delhi, India and raised in small-town Wisconsin, she has an appreciation for all of life’s funny contradictions. As the oldest daughter in an immigrant family, Tanvi felt compelled to follow a conventional career path, but kept falling off the corporate ladder and back into the world of storytelling.

Tanvi has performed sketch and improv in theaters all across Chicago and was a part of The Second City’s inaugural Victor Wong Fellowship for Asian American comedians. Tanvi is passionate about witty and vulnerable storytelling and loves to write about complicated people trying to find their place in the world.
