Nick Jr. UK & Ireland will premiere HexVets & Magic Pets, Nickelodeon's brand new animated preschool series based on the eponymous BOOM! Studios graphic novels by Sam Davies, on Monday 31st August 2026!

HexVets & Magic Pets

HexVets and Magic Pets is a CG and 2D-hybrid adventure-comedy series follows two unlikely best friends as they navigate life's weird and wacky challenges, while apprenticing to be magical veterinarians for fantastical creatures.

Nickelodeon is bringing the magical world of Willows Whisper to life with HexVets and Magic Pets.

In HexVets and Magic Pets, kid witches Annette and Clarion are thrilled to become HexVet apprentices to the kind, clever, and sometimes cheeky Dr. Talon. At her clinic, they learn how to heal and care for
magical creatures while picking up some important social-emotional lessons themselves.

Annette and Clarion are unlikely friends that couldn’t be more different - she’s all drive and he leads with his heart - but through their comical adventures, they find they’re stronger together.

Part magical procedural, part creature comedy, and all heart, HexVets and Magic Pets is a series about persisting after failure, celebrating differences, and bringing all the magic you can into the world.

Per the show's official logline:

Annette and Clarion's adventures begin. In the first year, the two young witches will become best friends, find their familiars, and earn their own wands while learning to care for magical creatures!

In the series premiere episode, "Witches In Training," Annette and Clarion are in competition to become HexVet apprentices to Dr. Talon... Until they learn that their personal success or failure is tied to teamwork. (S1, ep 21)

Nickelodeon Unveils Official Logos For 'HexVet', '¡Dora!' and 'Rock, Paper, Scissors'

During Nickelodeon's Bleeding Orange: The Life and Times of Nickelodeon Animation presentation at VIEW Conference 2022, the network unveiled unveiled the logos for three upcoming series: HexVet, ¡Dora! and Rock, Paper, Scissors!

It's important to note that these logos could be concept logos for the shows, with the finalized logos being unveiled nearer the time each show debuts.

The HexVet logo borrows the same logo from the graphic novel series the show is based on.

About HexVet:

The magical world of Willows Whisper comes to life in the brand-new animated preschool series based on the eponymous BOOM! Studios graphic novels by Sam Davies. The CG and 2D-hybrid adventure-comedy series follows unlikely best friends Nan and Clarion as they navigate life's weird and wacky challenges, while apprenticing to be magical veterinarians for fantastical creatures. (Season 1, 20 episodes) [more info]

About ¡Dora!:

The groundbreaking Latina heroine returns in an all-new CG-animated series produced by Nickelodeon Animation! The series will feature the beloved characters from the original series as well as a key modernization to the storytelling, and will debut in 2023 on Paramount+. [more info]

In addition to the character’s animated preschool return, now in development from Nickelodeon is the first-ever live-action Dora the Explorer series, inspired by the tone of Paramount Pictures’ 2019 Dora and the Lost City of Gold theatrical release, with this new version for Paramount+ targeting the tween demo.

About Rock, Paper, Scissors:

Rock, Paper, Scissors brings the iconic childhood game to life! This character-driven comedy follows the hilarious shenanigans of roommates Rock, Paper, and Scissors on their hijinks and ridiculous adventures. Rock, the moral compass of the group, is always struggling at his dream of becoming a model; Paper is an inventor and the brains of the group (if by “brains” you mean “making stuff that’s always blowing up”); and Scissors is the wannabe cool guy whose ego brings an endless fountain of chaos to these three friends. No matter how much they compete and mess with each other, at the end of the day, they will always bond over their shared love of one thing: wacky nonsense. (20 episodes) [more info]

Rock, Paper, Scissors is the first finalized short to be greenlit for series from Nickelodeon's inaugural Intergalactic Shorts Program.

Said, Brian Robbins, President & Chief Executive Officer of Paramount Pictures and Nickelodeon, and Chief Content Officer, Movies and Kids & Family, Paramount+: “We didn’t stop doing everything we could these last two years to keep moving forward with this beloved brand and strong business, and to make sure we were giving kids and families the very best stories and most relatable characters during such a hard period of uncertainty.”

Robbins added: “As consumer behaviors and the family dynamic shifted, we went all in on meeting kids on every platform they’re embracing, especially streaming on Paramount+, where our considerable library and originals like Kamp Koral: SpongeBob’s Under Years, Star Trek: Prodigy and Big Nate drive significant audiences to the platform. At the same time, we’ve kept a strong focus on linear, where longstanding favorites like Danger Force and new hits like The Patrick Star Show have kept us owning the top shows and the overall kids 2-11 space for nine years and counting.”

The list of news that Nickelodeon revealed today as part of its overall strategy includes universe expansions of: SpongeBob SquarePants, with the pickup of a 14th season for the most-watched kids’ animated series for the last 20 consecutive years; PAW Patrol, with the greenlight of season 10 of the top-rated preschool series and the first-ever spinoff centering on fan-favorite character Rubble; Baby Shark, with a feature-length movie in development for Paramount+ in the U.S. and a special featuring Grammy Award-winning, multiplatinum superstar Cardi B; The Loud House, with an original live-action series set to begin production and season seven renewal of the hit animated series; Transformers, with an all-new animated action-comedy series Transformers: EarthSpark, set to premiere globally on Paramount+ in November; and Blue’s Clues & You!, with a fifth season pickup, off the heels of the milestone 25th anniversary of the original groundbreaking series.

With over 40 projects in active production for Nickelodeon Animation across series and movies, and a vast live-action slate that platforms relatable and authentic talent that speaks to the brand’s core kid audience, Nickelodeon’s 2022-23 pipeline of original premium content includes: the return of beloved ‘90s Nick Jr. mascot Face in Face’s Music Party, a brand-new interactive music variety show; new animated preschool series Bossy Bear, based on the popular children’s books by David Horvath (UglyDolls); HexVet, a new 2D and CG-animated series, based on the eponymous BOOM! Studios graphic novels by Sam Davies; and renewals of the hit series Big Nate, Blaze and the Monster Machines, Middlemost Post and Are You Afraid of the Dark?

Nickelodeon is also expanding its real-world extensions with plans for: new podcast offerings, including a second season of Avatar: Braving the Elements, the official companion podcast for Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra, hosted by Janet Varney (the voice of Korra) and Dante Basco (the voice of Prince Zuko); NickFest, a two-day slime-filled family-first festival taking place Oct 22-23; and the launch of a new Nick music label that will provide even more ways for kids to connect with the brand.

Bikini Bottom continues to expand with more episodes of the first two spinoff series Kamp Koral: SpongeBob’s Under Years and The Patrick Star Show, which was recently picked up for a second season, along with three character-driven movies launching exclusively on Paramount+, and a fourth theatrical release from Nickelodeon Animation currently in development.

The news was announced today by Brian Robbins, President & Chief Executive Officer, Paramount Pictures & Nickelodeon, and Chief Content Officer, Movies and Kids & Family, Paramount+.

“The high-stakes adventures, wild antics and heartfelt camaraderie Nan and Clarion have in the HexVet graphic novels are all great qualities we look for in an animated series,” said Ramsey Naito, President, Paramount Animation and Nickelodeon Animation. “It’s incredibly exciting to expand the HexVet world with an original series that will deepen the connection young readers have with the novels and capture the imagination of new fans of all ages.”
