Nickelodeon Announces Four New SpongeBob Movies

Nickelodeon today announced that the network is developing three brand new SpongeBob SquarePants movies based on the show’s original characters, the first dropping in 2023! In addition, a fourth SpongeBob release from Nickelodeon Animation is currently in development for theatrical release.

The first of the planned Paramount+ spin-off films is likely the planned CG-animated/live-action hybrid Sandy Cheeks movie, which was announced in 2021. Other possible characters for a spin-off could include Mr. Krabbs and his daughter Pearl, Squidward, or even an entire movie about Patrick Star that is connected to his television series.
